The Horsemaid: The Housemaid Parody

Rate this book
Saddle up for a wildly absurd ride in The Horsemaid, Reid Mockery’s laugh-out-loud parody of Frieda McFadden’s The Housemaid. This uproarious tale of mystery and muck plunges listeners into a world of high-stakes secrets, low-stakes chores, and the questionable ethics of hooved companionship.

Reid Mockery’s The Horsemaid is a silly psychological thriller about Gilly, a woman desperate for a fresh start who takes a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Crotchburns family in Texas. But what seems like an opportunity soon turns sinister as Gilly uncovers dark secrets within the ranch. With locked doors, strange behaviors, and sexual tension, the job becomes a deadly game of survival in this twist-filled tale of deception and betrayal.

Reid Mockery rose to fame as one of Amazon's highest-selling parody authors back in 2009. Consistently funny, she effectively mocked popular titles such as Fifty Shades, Divergent, and Where the Crawdads Sing. Her work has garnered a loyal following, as she rewards her listeners with fast-paced parodies that are short, affordable, and guaranteed to brighten their day.

Reid lives an anonymous life in Tennessee as she searches for the next genre of books to skewer with her sharp sense of humor. While she has authored other books, she is best known for his best-selling parodies that lampoon popular titles.

Reid Mockery is Amazon's number one selling parody author. Consistently funny, he has successfully mocked Fifty Shades, Divergent and now John Green's The Fault In Our Stars. His work has earned a loyal following and he rewards his readers with fast moving parodies, that are short, cheap and guaranteed to brighten your day. Granted, it takes a special gift to be this stupid, but Reid seems to have it by the boatload.

Reid doesn't exactly look like Austin Powers, but he often channels his inner spirit. This image captures what Reid is feeling, so let's leave it at that.

When Reid Mockery makes parodic fun of a book, it is the greatest compliment that book can ever obtain.

He doesn't drink bottled water often. But, when he does, it's from Walmart.

Reid Mockery is so sexy, women buy and read his books by the thousands, just so they can run their fingers down the screen and feel his thick E ink. His words are like poetry, if poetry were entertaining.

He lives an anonymous life in the state of Tennessee searching for the next genre of books to skewer with his wicked sense of humor. Although he has written other books, he is best known for this best-selling parodies that make fun of the best selling books. This ground-breaking work has catapulted Mockery to the top of the Amazon sales charts to which Reid responds, "Yeah, Baby. Yeah!"

Silly, goofy, and utterly bizarre at times, I had fun with this one. I’d you enjoyed The Housemaid, then book a stall at the ranch!

This tale was horrible, evil and just wrong in so many ways and yet I enjoyed it immensely. I don’t think a page went by without my laughing out loud. I loved the Housemaid’s series by Freida McFadden and those must be read first. I get this might not be for everyone, but it sure kept me entertained.

This short book is a parody of the The Housemaid by Freida McFadden. It is an easy read with short chapters that are narrated with alternating character points of view. It is full of really outrageous, humorous, over the top action. However, this book was poorly edited. I could not get passed the numerous, confusing grammatical errors that are throughout the book. The husband is often referred to as he/him one minute and as she/her the next. Unless, this was intentional, and I missed something. But the errors occurred so often, that, at first, I was confused and had to reread parts. Lastly, I would recommend this book ONLY for an Adult audience.
