Before the legend of the Keepers, came the story of the Wolf.

Once upon a time, there lived a man whose fate would rest with two sisters. One will hold his heart. With her, he will find a love that will last forever, though it will come with a price.

From the other sister, he will learn fortitude as he discovers that she holds the power to destroy all he holds dear. For as easily as one sister captures his heart, the other will trap his soul.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
This is a prequel to The Keeper Saga. It is an extremely short read.
This basically gives you a short insight into how the Keepers come to be. Due to the lack length of the novella I couldn’t really get into the story. The writing was good and there is a depth to the character that is very unexplored. I am for sure going to be reading the next book to see where this characters take us.

This was an awesome short pleasure to read. This Novella is a prequel to Thompson's Keeper Saga and gives us the history of how the Wolf Gift/Curse depending on how you see it, came to be.

We meet Swiftfoot and Shining Star who are very much in love and then tragically torn from each others arms. This particular part of the book is heartbreaking, the love between Swiftfoot and Shinihg Star is immense and the goodness of her spirit is admirable. You will ache for Swiftfoot's loss. In his grief and misery Swiftfoot challenges the Great Spirit which leads to an unlikely outcome.

This introduction to the Keeper Saga was great, I felt like I was sitting at a campfire listening to an old legend. The flow of the story, descriptions of the land and the emotions running through this novella are wonderful. You will feel like you are running through the forest with the pack, gazing at the stars and feeling the wind weave its breezy fingers through your fur.

This was also almost a lesson of sort, we see how the Wolf gift was given and its purpose which would carry over further into Thompson's Saga and how the generations have utilized this gift over time. I really enjoyed getting this snippet of history. A lot of paranormal stories of this sort don't always go into the legend of how these creatures may have come to exist. It was refreshing and fun to read.

This novella is the prequel to The Keeper Series. This story was quite short, but I think the story was appropriately told within the short amount of time. The story had a very authentic Native American background, which I really enjoyed reading. The author did a great job of describing what it was like during those times. Even though this novella was short, it had a lot packed into it. There was mystery, romance, revenge, and shifters. I really enjoyed reading about Swift Foot and his journey, as well as learning about the legend of the wolf shifter. This story was a quick, but great read. I am so excited to start The Keeper Saga now, because this prequel has me really interested to see what is next. I would recommend this short story to anyone that loves shifter stories, because it is a very intriguing read. I am excited to read the rest of the series.

Thanks for a free book to read and review for Wicked Reads. Nice start for a prequel. I'm interested and it was definitely enjoyable, but short and really not much to go on. Overall entertainment is three stars.

I haven't read any of the books from The Keeper Saga. That being said, this prequel has definitely piqued my interest! A very quick read but gave me enough to want to see what else this series holds!

I enjoyed the story, it was short but enjoyable. It tells the beginning of the story of how the keepers of the tribe came about

This was a good prequel, glad i took a chance on it. The author gives us a back story of how the wolves began and more on the story of the first love loss. We also see evil which I am wondering if it will come back up somewhere in the series. I do want to know about the blue amulet, does it ever show up again?
Good short read, miraculously there wasn't any grammatical errors, hopefully that means the rest of the series won't have any or very few.
Definitely recommend.

i had the saga and mistakenly read the prequel first. i had no idea what was going on xD it was nice to imagine a different world in my head. but everything made sense when The Wolf came into the picture. Might be a different reading perspective if read this as the third book in the saga.

Novella

Okay so, I wish I would of read a review. I didn’t my fault. But this book really is a prequel to book 2. It’s super short and only barely my sense at the end of the book. Really it could be read before book 1. But honestly? You could skip it and be totally okay.

great prequel for the series but it's only about 50 pages, the remaining 40+ pages are the start of book one - which is where I started so skimmed, didn't re-read Book 1.

The Wolf

It was a very good but sad story. It gives a good explanation on how everything started. And why it happened.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

The Wolf is the prequel to The Keeper Series. It is very, very short and doesn’t take any time to read, however, I think it does the job of making the reader want more.

I love the feel of Native American folklore that runs through the story. The story is well written and the characters are surprisingly well developed despite the length of the novella. I like how the book brings a little of all the elements of a good paranormal book into these pages. The romance between Swift Foot and Shining Star is the kind of love every couple wants. Like every good paranormal love isn’t smooth as there is someone fighting against this couple which sets up a quest for revenge and ultimately the need of the supreme spirit to step in and intervene.

Like I said there is a lot in these few pages but there is enough to give the reader a taste of what is to come and I, for one will definitely read the next book in the series. That says a lot when I’m not a regular paranormal reader.

I reviewed this book for Wicked Reads.

This book is the introduction to the series that follows. It tells the story of two Native Americans, Swift Foot and his love, Shining Star. Upon Shining Star's death, Swift Foot tries to bargain with the Great Spirit and fails. The Great Spirit gives Swift Foot a gift, which takes him many years to come to grips with.

Once his grief has eased, Swift Foot returns to his tribe, only to find the village decimated. Searching for survivors and finding them, he asks the Great Spirit to watch over the remaining members of his family, his village. Thus the Keepers are borne.

Not sure what I was expecting, this book was well written, but I felt like a little more detail could have been given to describe the gift of the Keepers.

This really got me interested in following the story of the Keepers!

The detail was amazing! I loved reading all the descriptions of the village and the people in it. The love between Swift Foot and Shining Star is so intense and beautiful. It is a great introduction to the rest of the series because it makes me want to know how the rest of the story plays out.

When I read K.R. Thompson's stories she makes the "paranormal" and "fantastical" happenings seem like something that could actually happen. I've read other books of this genre and sometimes I have a hard time truly believing what is going on. But with this one especially I saw/heard/felt/smelled everything as it was happening in the book. I love being so immersed in the story that I take everything in it at face value, no matter how unrealistic it should seem.

*I was provided a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Wolf, is a very short read and it is the prequel to the The Keeper Saga.
Although it is as short as it is, the story inside gives us a glimpse of just how the wolves came to be, and why.
As I read it, I at first felt really happy for the two characters sharing their love and being so helpful to their village. As I read on and I realized what they were up against and the pain and loss of being torn apart, it was for sure enough to make me want to continue on in the series.
After the separation, we learn just how the Wolf was created and how the Keepers came to be.
A very good read and I can't wait to read on!

Going into this short novella I didn’t know what to expect because sometimes they fall short. However; with this one you actually learn the back story of what the series is about and it made me now want to go read the stories. The author captivated my attention quickly with the details she wrote with the plot and the beautiful scenes, even though not all of it was as we wanted them. The characters are we defined to make the readers understand the happiness and also the pain they have to go through for their love. Her overall descriptions are well thought and beautifully manicured! I enjoyed reading the prequel and if the rest of the series is written as this then this is one author to watch out for in the paranormal genre!

This prequel is interesting, but rather routine. While the writing style is great, the story left me feeling like I had already read it before.

Having said that, I will also say that I do like the characters, the way the story flows, and the attention to detail. The writer obviously has talent, but it just seems to be a bit muted here. As the Native American shifters are a favorite subject of mine, I will most likely give the series a try and hope the muting is only present for this prequel.

It would be great for any age reader, there was nothing overtly sexual or graphically violent. Only three fangs on this one, though.

"The Wolf" by K.R. Thomspon. This is a prequel novella for the upcoming Keeper series by the author. It's the story of two Native American Indians that have found true love. The author has done a fine job of relaying the feelings and thoughts of the main character - Swift Foot. She describes the environment in a way that the reader can envision. There are a couple of twists as well, which set the stage for the series. I do look forward to reading the next book - Book 1 - Hidden Moon. This, being a novella, is very short and a very fast read. A great back story to set up the coming books of the series. (Received copy for honest review)

The was a great story all by itself without being a prequel to the Keeper Saga. The most interesting stories start with legends and the Native Americans have some of the most fascinating one. This short tale tells the story of Swift Foot , Shining Star and Crow women. Both women love the same man but only one has his heart. The story was fast paced, very emotional and keeps your interest right from the start. True love is beautiful , pure and bright but jealousy is evil and darkness will always follow. Bad Vs. Good, Light Vs. Dark and Evil Vs. Goodness . Sometimes profound loss has a greater purpose and you have to let go of your anger to see the chosen path.

The young man Swift Foot makes the most innocent yet tragic of all possible decisions: he falls in love with the "wrong" sister, and she with him. Shining Star is his soul mate, but her sister in her jealousy harbors other plans for the happy couple.

Thus begins The Wolf, prequel to Hidden Moon, which is Book 1 in The Keepers Saga. The Wolf is a short story written in a charming, straightforward style that evokes ancient mythology from across the globe. Like what Tolkien's The Silmarillion does for The Lord of the Rings cycle, The Wolf forms the genesis of KR's The Keepers myth and is a wonderful introduction to her fascinating series.

This is a short story about the legend of The Keepers. I recommend reading this one first before moving onto the series. It gave us some really good back story that should come into play in the next books (which I can not wait to get started on)

Of course there is no HEA, which I am more than fine with, but this is a prelude of what we can expect to come in the next books.

Now to get started on book 1!!!!

Would I recommend this book? Yes if you are wanting to read the series. Good background information provided

Would I read more from this author? Yep. Loved what I have seen so far and looking forward to reading more.

Lost Love

Swift Foot loved Shining Star with all his heart and on their wedding day, her sister practiced dark magic and seeming to be a huge bear pushed her off the mountain to her death. Swift Foot was devastated, went down the mountain and carried Shining Star to their home. I could feel Swift Foot's pain. He tried to get the Spirit's guide to let him join Shining Star in the heaven, but he wasn't able to go to her. This short story can be read in under one hour; and, I recommend this book so you can find out what happens. It is so sad, but some good does come out of the sadness.

A great story prequel to the Keeper Saga Series..

Swift Foot and Shinning Star are lovers and Crow Woman is most definitely against it. She believes he was meant for her. With her black magic she tries to kill off Shinning Star only for Swift Foot to come in time to stop her. Crow Woman then pushes Shinning Star over the cliff. From here Swift Foot goes seeking the Great Spirit to ask to be joined with Shinning Star in the heavens. What happens when the Great Spirit answers, is not at all what Swift Foot was expecting. He is now a wolf....and the Story of Wolf Begins...
