A new threat emerges in VENOM WAR, in the form of symbiotes that can raise the dead and corrupt the living - Zombiotes!
As the two Venoms face off, a darker strain of symbiote has slithered across New York City — one that can reanimate the dead and turn the living into an engine of mindless hunger with just one bite! That’s right: zombie symbiotes, making symbiote zombies! And you thought they liked eating brains before! An unlikely team — led by She-Hulk, Hellcat and Shocker — could be humanity’s only hope! Plus: What will become of the deadly Black Widow and her even more lethal symbiote in the Venom War? And as the horde of Zombiotes descends on Hell’s Kitchen, the two Daredevils must rise up to stand as the last line of defense — but will they be enough to stem the tide, or will their brains be first on the menu?

I have hated the Venom War books up till now. This book is awesome. Street-level action, that actually makes sense. Thank you She-Hulk, Black Widow and the Daredevils.
She-Hulk and Hellcat are battling the Zombiotes. How long can they keep up the fight before they too are infected? Just to add to the trouble the Shocker is leading his crew on a personal heist. Could there be redemption for these career criminals? If they survive.
The Black Widow her her own Symbiote. Of course, she does everyone has one. However, this young Symbiote might not be ready for action yet. Can the Symbiote survive Natasha's training program? Then it is right into the fire of the Venom War.
Elektra is guarding the streets as Daredevil and protecting an orphanage run by Father Matt. Can Matt help against the Zombiotes without blowing his secret identity?
An all-around great book. Great artwork and story. So much better than the actual main story. The Daredevils already have their series (though I would love Elektra to have her book), but She-Hulk and Black Widow need their own books. Just to build on what happened here. Just keep the same creative teams.
This was a decent tie-in series like the first one is about Zombiotes but it actually focuses on She-hulk and Shocker as their friends are taken over by the zombie symbiotes and how they rescue them and its set in the bar with no name and there is another angle with how Shocker wants to bring back Boomerang and I really like that aspect of friendship as having read TSFOSM recently, I love this whole S6 team they were on and then how it shows the crew come together in a zombie apocalypse time and battle through and save the day and the friendship stuff like I say awesome but its these type of stories of how a crew comes together in such marvel events made of random characters.. its always fun to read them! This was the best story here eaisly.
The Black Widow story focuses on how she is training the symbiote and then teaming up with Liz and Flash to stop the zombiotes at Alchemax which is the Ground Zero for the infection to spread and its fun, action, spy stuff and anti-venom things being referenced and used and shows how these plagues are being healed! I like that aspect of it and the ending bringing the character back to the status quo and it was expected but it was fun while it lasted!
The last story focusing on Daredevil aka Elektra here as she is saving Matt and the orphaned children where he is priest at and focuses on their pasts and how they both died and came back and contrasting it with zombiotes and thats fun and actually shows insight into Elektra and how she feels, and that was a nice character focused issue which is like the core strength of this issue and I really like it. It contrasts the struggles of the character in this invasion while the Venom war is going on and really makes the whole event so much more interesting!!
The last, and perhaps weakest, Venom War tie-in collection, I believe.
Zombiotes is a decent idea, staging a Superior Foes of Spider-Man reunion, but it's less of a story and more of a vehicle to resurrect a dead character that really didn't need all this effort to resurrect. It's fun, and has a Shaun of the Dead "we go to the pub" kind of feel to it, enhanced by Ryp's grotesque art, but it didn't really do it for me as an actual story.
Venomous is better, but I don't think Marvel ever really capitalised on the idea of Black Widow with a symbiote. She's had it for a while now, she fights a bit with it here, and by the end of the story, the status quo resumes. It's fine, again. The art's good again though, with Luciano Vecchio's interiors always feeling slick and shiny.
Also included is the Daredevil one-shot, which is probably the best of the bunch. It's a real horror story, and it works on lots of levels, as well as drawing on current DD continuity rather than just being a side-story.
Not bad, but definitely not the most exciting. Some solid art throughout though.
As Venom War begins to come to an end we have our first two sets of completed stories. I don’t remember when or how Natasha got a symbiote, I’ve seen them together in a few random stories but I really like the bond they have. Her arc is the best of the two here with a dark ending I wasn’t expecting. The other story is fun but it doesn’t feel like there’s much substance there, it has a good final image and an impact for a character that I’m sure someone will care about. So far though this Venom War has been only okay. It’s just so random honestly.
4 The better Venom War mini Tie-In (w/ Spider-Man taking the top spot). Zombiates was a decent rag tag group book that helped to flesh out how the zombiote attack actually affected the Marvel universe. Decent drama. I actually cared about Shocker and Boomerang, of all terrible Z-list villains.
The Black Widow take was somewhat engaging. Terrific art.
Brutal version of zombies. Heroes and villains working together sort of. Redemption and sacrifice. The normal human population of the Marvel universe must be so low.
Great art. Decent stories. The art was beautiful all the way from page 1 to the end. Some stories are better than the next one, but solid read through and through.
