In the heart of Savannah, old melodies and new dreams collide in a symphony of second chances.

Magnolia Pruitt has one goal: save O’Malley’s, the beloved bar she’s poured everything into keeping alive. But just as she’s laser-focused on her mission, in walks Lee Wilder, her childhood sweetheart who left a decade ago to chase country music stardom in Nashville.

Lee’s return doesn’t just stir up memories—it shakes Magnolia to her core. So much has changed since he left, and yet one thing remains the same—Lee’s feelings for her. As they work together to save the bar, old sparks reignite, leaving Magnolia to wonder if the life she’s been building is truly what she wants—or if the past has a few more surprises in store.

Packed with Southern charm, humor, and heart, this romantic comedy will have you rooting for love and second chances from the very first page.

Kelly Hennelly’s Our Song is a delightful and heartfelt romantic comedy that strikes the perfect balance between humor, romance, and personal growth. Centered around Magnolia, a determined woman fighting to save her family’s beloved bar, the book weaves together a charming love story with a deeper narrative about self-discovery and resilience.

Magnolia is a strong, stubborn protagonist who has faced her share of heartbreak and loss, yet her determination to protect her family's legacy and secure her future never wavers. As if balancing the weight of her family’s bar isn’t enough, Magnolia is also caught in a love triangle of sorts. Her old flame returns to town, stirring up unresolved feelings, while she is also drawn to someone else who might offer a more stable future. The tension between these two paths creates a compelling emotional journey as Magnolia works through what she truly wants for her life—and who she wants to share it with.

What I appreciated most about this book is how well Hennelly develops Magnolia’s character. Her growth throughout the story is both realistic and relatable. Magnolia is not just fighting to save the bar; she’s fighting to move past her past and embrace a future she can call her own. Her journey feels authentic, with her relationships—particularly with her supportive brother and friends—adding depth to the story and providing a sense of hope and healing.

The romance, too, is a lovely aspect of the book, offering a mix of nostalgic charm and fresh possibilities. While it’s clear that Magnolia is torn, her struggle feels genuine, and Hennelly’s writing keeps you rooting for her as she navigates these tangled emotions.

Set against the backdrop of a small, close-knit town, the book’s setting provides a cozy, inviting atmosphere that adds to the overall sweetness of the story. The friendships and family dynamics bring a sense of warmth and community, reminding readers that no one has to face life’s challenges alone.

In conclusion, Our Song is a sweet and satisfying read, filled with love, loss, and the power of finding your true path. Kelly Hennelly’s debut is a testament to the power of second chances, both in love and in life, and it’s a story that will stay with you long after the final page. If you’re looking for a romantic comedy that’s as heartwarming as it is entertaining, this book is an absolute must-read!

Our Song is a sweet second chance romance that isn't dark but still feels at times heavy. These two are the opposite of star-crossed; they are in alignment! And still, they can't seem to figure it out for most of the novel, and by 'they' I mean Magnolia. Girl. Girl Boss. I can't with you. A good therapist would have sorted out some of those abandonment issues, babe. The relationship arc is childhood through adulthood, lots of loss and tons of wine.
Sutton is a solid friend. She makes one mistake in this, but I give her a pass because she always shows up with food. A dream of a bestie for sure. Lee is our leading man, and he's a bit one dimensional in how utterly hopelessly devoted he is to his muse.
I can't believe Lee and Dane share DNA. What a wild ride!
Huge thanks to the author for a DRC! I'm so so so sorry I took a hot minute and a half to pick this sweet romance off my TBR!

From the very beginning I was caught up in the authenticity of every single one of the characters. From Magnolia’s emotions and spunk to Sutton’s sass to Charlie’s big brother protectiveness to Lee’s charm… it felt like a friend group that was a part of, with all of its quirks and twists and turns. And then there was Lee and Magnolia - a true example of missed timing but an undeniable pull to each other that was based out of friendship, trust, and comfort. It is the kind of romance that you just can’t help but smile at. I loved the realness of their love story, with some wild twists and turns that I did not see coming in there for good measure. It was a charming read and I hope in the future we get to hang out with these friends again!

Must Read

I devoured this book in a single day—yes, it was that good. I already miss Magnolia, Lee, Sutton, Charlie, and the whole unforgettable crew like they were my childhood besties. Seriously, how did these characters sneak into my heart so fast?

Every personality jumped off the page—so vivid. This story has it all: love, loss, laughter, heartache… and the kind of emotional gut-punches that make you sit there staring at the wall like, “Well, that wrecked me in the all the good ways!

Gifted this book by a friend of the Author. I love Savannah & could visualize a lot of the places referenced since I frequent it. A good light read. A loyal (& then not so loyal) group of friends, romance & some sadness. I was hooked and actually shed a few tears. I love when an author makes me really feel the book.

so sweet and drama filled

Okay that was precious but also holy crap that was a crazy roller coaster ride of my emotions. Their friend group is slightly dysfunctional, really aggressive and insanely loving. I loved their story and it was so raw and genuine.

Read for 2025 Pop Sugar prompt # 19 A highly anticipated read of 2025 (would also work for prompt# 31 A book where music plays an integral part of the storyline or prompt# 40 A book about chosen family)

I laughed, I cried, I yelled at Magnolia a little bit but most of all I fell in love with this story. I was immersed in the book and it felt like I was right in the heart of Savannah with the characters.

I am hooked on Kelly Hennelly and can not wait for her next book! I really hope she does a story featuring Charlie.
