Rate this book
At 40, journalist Naomi Brennon had one always tell the truth.

It cost her everything.
From Amazon #1 Best-Selling Author...

The moment Naomi stepped back into Crescent Bay, the whispers started. She'd bought her aunt's beachfront inn hoping to escape her failed marriage and ruined journalism career—a desperate attempt to rebuild her life among childhood memories and ocean waves.

But small towns have a way of finding out everything.

Someone's been talking, spreading the parts of her past she never wanted anyone to know, turning each local shop into a minefield of cold stares and abruptly ended conversations.

The only person seemingly unfazed by the rumors is Ryan Hart, the talented—and distractingly handsome—contractor working on her renovation. He knows a thing or two about being the subject of town gossip, though he keeps his own past carefully guarded. His understanding smile and unwavering belief in her plans for the inn offer Naomi a comfort she hadn't expected to find.

But as Naomi settles into island life, her estranged husband reappears, determined to win her back. And strange occurrences at the inn suggest someone is waiting for her to fail. Now, Naomi must decide who to trust in a town where everyone has something to hide.

This contemporary tame, starting over, second chance romance is a clean and wholesome women's fiction with a beach town with mystery. It is page-turning with exceptional world-building in southwest Florida at the inn at Crescent Bay, where there are magnificent sunrises and sunsets that are vibrantly painted across the sky that are breathtaking, and characters that are resilient, captivating, intelligent, an inn owner, and realistic. Their journey is enthralling with the inn at Crescent Bay where Naomi Brennon escapes from a failed marriage and her ruined journalism career, small town where gossip about Naomi is causing a minefield of cold stares and abruptly ended conversations because of some spreading the parts of her past she never wanted anyone to know, drama, suspense that will leave readers on the edge of their seats, danger, deception, heartfelt emotions that will leave readers needing Kleenex to wipe the tears that are threatening to spill down their cheeks, Naomi settles into island life, her stranger husband appears trying to win her back, mysterious occurrences at the inn are evidence that someone is waiting for her to fail, doesn't know who to trust/or if she can trust, action adventure, and more. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with the inn at Crescent Bay and a second chance romance that is sure to transport readers into a world that is engulfed with love and loss and unforgettable.

Naomi leaves her old life behind to start new. She buys her aunt's Inn in Crescent Bay, Florida without having seen it and when she arrives she can't believe how much work it will take to get it up and running. She takes her aunt's advice and calls Ryan Hart the local contractor for his help. They get along well together and he gives her the help she needs to get the Inn renovated. Her past has caught up with her when she and her aunt go for dinner and the customers are all whispering and staring at her. Her husband, who she has filed for a divorce from was a political leader in her old life. The previous scandal has hit "The Rag", a local gossip column in Crescent Bay. She has the town against her. She decides to get set up to go to the local council meeting to let people know that the Inn will be opening. As soon as she gets on the stage to speak, the haters start heckling her. She tells her side of the story and a few of the locals apologize to her for not believing in her. She goes to the beach for a quick bite and her neighbour sees her there and comments on her renovations thinking that she is doing them herself. When Naomi mentions that Ryan Hart is helping her, the woman then tells her that he killed his wife! I can't wait for this story to continue!.

Naomi's return to the island where she summered as a child is in a lot of ways another of the new beginnings series I have recently enjoyed reading.

Self professed, I am not normally a fan of short serials or anything with cliff hangers.

what keeps drawing me in to continuing addiction to Sage Parker stories is the mixture of hope and sorrow when starting over after career and romance plans go astray.

Women with life experience and the bumps, bruises and age spots to prove it are relatable to me as a woman of a certain age.

Frankly, it's also appealing to me that these women make mistakes along their way, and sometimes react to old ghosts instead of new hopes.

A bevy of related mysteries of course has the mystery fan in me hooked, especially one with some historical roots and some vague personal ties and vendettas

I'm looking forward to the wait being over to unravel further plot developments, and am truly sorry to have to eait another month for the next bit, instead of the usual week long wait I have adapted to reading the short length serial episodes.

Planning to re-read until the next release for now, I'm intrigued by the opening salvos, and eager for the stories to continue.

Naomi's life has fallen apart. Her husband is divorcing her and when her job was in jeopardy he threw her under the bus. Yes he is in a government job but knew when they married that she wanted to be a journalist and was going to write the truth. Now he is unhappy that she won't retract what she wrote and make his life better.
SO, she decides to look to her past and when she finds our her aunt is selling the hotel/B&B she quickly buys it site unseen. Not a good thing to do because when she gets to the hotel it is a mess. She is going to have to do lots of work on it to get it reopened but she has faith that she can do it as her aunt has put her in touch with Ryan and he says it can be done.
So we read this book to get a feeling for all the people in the town, some good some still as horrible as they were in the summers she spent down her with her aunt. So like all of Sage's books her we go with each book ending in a cliff hanger until we find out the answers in the next book.
Enjoy, I just love reading Sage's books.

Naomi was a journalist until she told the truth about something and ended up out of a job. She moves to Florida to a closed inn owned by a relative. She plans to turn it into a working inn.

Problems arise quickly, though, as there's a nasty article published about her in a local paper and she finds other than her elderly relative pretty much everyone has turned against her.

She starts working on the inn anyhow and hires a guy that ends up with his own past. He's incredibly good at what he does, though, and the work on the inn continues.

Oh, yes, there's also something about a curse. Just maybe, too, the guy she has hired to help her fix the inn might have a dark past of his own.

The characters are pretty realistic but I'm wondering about her firing. Her newspaper article apparently spoke the truth, upsetting some people that wanted to keep it hidden, apparently, and she was fired. I would think she would have fought that somehow, maybe going to a lawyer or something since she was truthful about what she wrote.

Also there's a major problem with her not-quite-yet-ex-husband and would think she would have had her lawyer become involved.

Another series that captures the reader's attention with this first book as the ice breaker. It's not surprising considering that Sage Parker is such a talented writer. By reading this first book in the series of the Inn at Crescent Bay, I can already tell that the book is going to have a lot of mysteries to uncover and twists and turns at every corner. Naiomi has to regroup and start fresh and what better way to do that then by buying her aunt's Inn and beginning a new chapter in her life as an Inn keeper. From reading this first book in this series, I can tell that Naiomi has a lot to deal with and the town she knew growing up at first is not very welcoming. The only bright light is her aunt Matilda, whose love for Naiomi can be felt thorough the pages. Meeting Ryan is also going to add to the mystery. Already my senses are heightened by what will be revealed in book two. The cliffhanger left me saying, oh my, what just happened!

Naomi buys her aunts Inn in Crescent Bay Florida to get away from her life in Atlanta. Getting there she finds way more work to be done than was said. Her aunt tells her to call Ryan so she did, he comes to look and give her a bid. She goes for it. They began to work on demo she helps all the way. When she goes to dinner with her aunt she feels like everyone is staring and being dismissive to her. So the aunt asks the waitress she shows her a community newsletter that she says she got fired and husband leaves her. She was reformed a new start now it’s followed her. Ryan is supportive as he was talked about when he came too. She goes to town meeting and gets haggled, so she explains what really happened. She wrote an article exposing Congress doing wrong and her husband being a congressman stood by his friends not his wife. Which hurt her terribly. She explained it to Ryan and he was supportive and showed up at town meeting for her. She feels better after meeting she goes out to eat. Her neighbor comes to her and tells her she should stay away from Ryan he killed hes wife!

I loved the start to his new series by Sage Parker. Naomi is a strong lady who has to rebuild her life after her divorce so she buys her aunt’s inn and hires Ryan to help her renovate. Along the way we are discovering some hidden secrets about Ryan but also Naomi soon discovers that the town has judged her because of incidents relating to her previous career as a journalist and therefore she is slightly shunned by everyone and Naomi does what she can to set the record straight. Will she find happiness here and will the town allow her to become one of them and built herself a new life? Only time will tell and I am now hooked and cannot wait for the next book.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Back the train up!!! The last line of the book killed it! I mean like - holy crap! Is book 2 available for me to read??!!!! Like right now!!!

So this was book 1 and I’m guessing all the books may have the same name since it’s all about the Inn she’s restoring. I really enjoyed reading this and once I started I didn’t put it down. Quite a bit was explained about her move to FL and her soon to be divorce and ex but I’m assuming we’ll find out a lot more in the upcoming books. Also - LOVE Ryan. And her Aunt is just the sweetest! Reminds me a little of my grandma. I’m also loving the diary that was discovered because you know she’s going to do some digging to find out what this curse is all about.

REALLY looking forward to book 2!

Needing to start her life over Naomi buys her aunts’ Inn located in
Crescent Bay, Florida. Once she got there, she discovered that the Inn needed a lot more than cosmetic work done. Her aunt recommends Ryan to help her with the work.
This town was not as warm and welcoming as she expected. Many have warned her to stay away from Ryan.
This series is sure to be one that will leave me and other readers asking themselves : What is going on? The last line of this book had me saying Oh no what is next! Book 2 cannot get here quickly enough.
Sage Parker is an amazing author. She knows how to hook her readers with the stories she writes.

We start by meeting Naomi as she embarks on a new part of her life, having her previous one blown up in her face! As she arrives at the island where she stayed every summer as a child, you feel her hopes that a brand new start is about to begin. That is until she walks into the inn that she bought from her aunt to find it in a lot of disrepair and in need of a complete makeover. This brings Ryan into her life, local handyman and outcast with a history of his own in Crescent bay. Naomi finds the small town not so welcoming as lies and her secrets are revealed and then there’s the towns curse for the upcoming celebrations. It’s a gripping read with mystery and suspense that draws you in and has an ending that has you eager to read more.

This book had me holding onto it from beginning to end, I was not expecting the ending at all. Normally I can see the ending coming a mile away, but this one really snuck up on me and I loved it and hated it at the same time. I loved that I didn't know it was happening until I couldn't turn the page anymore, however I hated that it was a cliffhanger.

I am a completionist when it comes to books. I can't just read one book in a series (even standalones) unless I have read them all. That being said I would 100% recommend this book to my friends and family, and I can't wait for Sage to release Book 2.

The Inn at Crescent Bay, Book One, is the introduction to Naomi and Ryan's story. Naomi is separated and soon to be divorced from her Congressman husband, Logan. She decides to purchase her aunt's Inn since she was fired as an investigative reporter after uncovering an illegal political scandal. She hires Ryan to help with the renovations needed for the Inn and they develop a comfortable friendship. Their story has secrets, gossip, lack of community acceptance, a curse. steamy attraction. and a jaw dropping cliffhanger. I recommend this first book in the Southwest Florida Series.

Sage Parker has done it again. I have yet to read a bad book from her. I love the MCs in this book. They have great chemistry and friendship. Small town people sometimes believe everything they read or hear. Naomi is trying to make a fresh start but her past follows her. She meets a contractor named Ryan who has had his fair share of run ins with the townsfolk. They become friends and have feelings they are not ready for yet. There is a mystery involving the town and Naomi wants to solve it. I highly recommend this book to all women's fiction readers.

This book is longer than Sage Parker's usual books are. Be prepared though for her cliffhanger though. She's moved to town to take over the Inn that has been in the family and escape from the toxic community she had been living. Unfortunately the scandal follows her. Will she be able to get closure and move on? What happens when she starts to form a relationship with another town outcast? Has she left one bad situation for another?.

Needing a fresh, start Naomi leaves her old life in Georgia and heads down to Crescent Bay, FL to buy her aunt's inn. Upon arrival, she realizes its going to need a lot more work than she thought. To top it off, someone has been spreading rumors about Naomi to all the locals and they're not as welcoming as she had hoped. There is one person who doesn't care and she finds friendship and possibly love with the man her aunt recommends to help her fix the inn. This was a lovely story and looking forward to reading more from the series.

Sage Parker had written just enough of this story to wet my appetite for what is to come 🤔!. Naomi has bought a family inn with the decision to start over after separating from her husband. Ryan, local contractor us not a favorite in this small town. There is chemistry but they are just feeling each other out. The local gossip web sight is starting a smear campaign about Naomi; who and why are they singling her out??? Of course, time will tell!! Bring on the next book!!

This Booksprout ARC has peeked my interest!

The relationship between Naomi and Ryan is very charming and cute. I enjoyed the pace of the book, it gives a good development of Naomi's character and a glimpse of the town/Ryan, leaving trails of mystery without revealing too much. I'm looking forward to journey with Naomi as she figures out Crescent Bay

p.s. that cliffhanger is an absolute crime! I need the second book ASAP.

“The Inn at Crescent Bay” by Sage Parker

-A mysterious small-town romance about second chances and new beginnings. Naomi’s journey to rebuild her life leads her to Crescent Bay, where she faces judgment, secrets, and an unexpected connection with Ryan. The slow-burn romance and town intrigue make for an engaging read. With a cliffhanger ending, this series starter leaves questions unanswered.

Wonderful start to a new story that has interesting characters. There are some secrets revealed that were not supposed to be. Now there are characters that are complex and different personalities that make for interesting interactions. Like a small town setting it always brings an interesting cast of characters. Naomi wants to start over after her marriage fell apart and her job also fell apart! She was hoping to start new by opening a bed and breakfast in a place she spent her summers. What greeted her was a placed that needs total renovation. Her aunt gave her Ryan, a carpenter, to help with the construction. The people of the town find a secret about Naomi and treat her like she is a second class citizen. Ryan is her only friend. I received a free book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sage Parker is a new-to-me author, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I appreciate the small-town setting of the story and a heroine that takes back her life and starts over. The dynamic between Naomi and Ryan is cute and sweet and I am rooting for them! The cliffhanger ending was a bit of a surprise, but it did make me want to read the next book (which is what it is meant to do).
