2 Snowy Night Stars
this is all three parts which total 86 pages. I never read the serials individually but I don’t see how it could be 3 serials to be 86 pages.
My version has random red wording and I can't seem to understand the point of it. The font also changed from very small to very large which I assume the copy I received most likely was from an ARC so I will not judge that.
Our main character Cheyenne is sneaking off to see her almost boyfriend Colin and is being escorted by her crush and ranch hand Luke. A storm comes in faster and harder than expected and Colin cant make it and Luke cant get home since his snowmobile ran out of gas.
Their move from servant to master is very fast and through me off guard a bit. After their intimate encounter Luke decides he made a mistake and they cannot be together even though Cheyenne is adamant about their being together fate. Luke decides they will keep their being together a secret and they are comfortable about this…then Bam in walks Colin and just like that Luke falls back under the role of ranch hand that doesn’t deserve the wealthy Cheyenne.
There is a whirlwind of things go on in this serial read very quickly. Cheyenne is slotted (marriage) to be with Colin due to wealth and similar land. Cheyenne is in love with her ranch hand and Colin is in love with someone he met at work and they both wound up seeing it.
For 86 pages it didn’t hold my attention but there was a HEA

I actually like the premises, I like the idea behind the story. The plot is quite nice as well....
The writing style is alright.
BUT it was all to insta for me. I mean I kinda could have lived with the insta-lust and insta-love bit. But then it was all so rushed. They had this sudden deep connection, then the dramas.. just everything was insta. And it was all totally rushed through.
No time was spent on character building or fleshing out the story. It's insta- everything and superquick race to the end.
A pity cause this story- though it's not the most ingenious- could have been a sizzling cute & fluffy.

This just wasn't working for me. I wasn't feeling the attraction between the characters and I was getting whiplash from the m/c' s fickleness. One minute she was looking forward to spending time with her boyfriend, the next she's jumping all over the ranch hand and we're supposedly into an insta-love situation. I didn't feel the power of the smut either. Sorry but I can't read any more.

Oh dear, I do not enjoy writing less than positive reviews at all. I know that authors put a great amount of blood, sweat and tears into their book babies. However, I cannot NOT review or rate a book because of that. Other readers should have the benefit of hearing the good, the bad, and the other about books that they are interested in reading.

Now, with that said, on to my review of Fireside Bundle by Morgan Black. The story itself was not bad, although very rushed. The characters, Luke and Cheyenne were as likeable as they could be for having no real backstory to them. Sure, there are minor details about their early lives but they were told in a rhetorical fashion. They set up for the story was a tad unbelievable in that Cheyenne, a 21st century woman, was willingly entering into an arranged marriage with a rich rancher's son. I can suspend belief and accept this as an element of the story but the cliché story line of being snowed in with a ranch hand felt more than Harlequin romance-eque. But again, I could accept that, if it appeared independent of the arranged marriage. Cheyenne's relationship with Luke was nil up until the point they reached the cabin. Sure, she finds him attractive but beyond that, there is nothing between them. So, after one moment of passion, she is in love and willing to throw out her future with her fiancé and raise the ire of her father. Yes, Cheyenne had a fiancé but she was so fiercely attracted to Luke that she just couldn't help herself. There are many other moments in this three part serial that had me sighing, and not in a good way, and rolling my eyes. One of the things that disturbed me was the time sequencing. There were some amazing time jumps in the story from weeks to months but you don't realize it right away until Cheyenne articulates it. That in itself wouldn't have been bothersome; however, the sequencing felt choppy and sporadic. And finally, I will mention the editing issues with the story. A decent story with a solid edit can make a "decent" story enjoyable. However, a decent story without a solid edit makes that same story barely palatable. There were some very glaring and obvious editing challenges in this story. At one moment, Cheyenne was talking about Collin's mouth and the word "moth" was used instead. There are also instances where entire words are missing from the story.

I hate to be harsh but my advice to the author would be to polish this story where she can. First, a solid edit would do a world of good, and cleaning up some of the story sequencing would help. Although this story wasn't my cuppa, and also NOT an erotic romance as it is pegged, someone else may thoroughly enjoy it.

This is the bundle for a serial novel. It has a great premise... she is almost engaged to the heir of an adjoining ranch, she is rich and is also set to inherit her ranch, both families have agreed to merge by marrying the two heirs (forget about love and feelings).

I also must preface that I had a copy of this series that came from NetGalley with all kinds of formatting problems and wonky missing paragraphs. I hope the final book does not reflect this and was fixed.

Our story begins with Cheyenne and Collin planning a weekend away at Cheyenne's cabin in the woods to work out the details of their future relationship. Marrying appears to be inevitable and somehow they have to talk about how they will handle being more than friends. Throw in a snowstorm, a yummy, quiet ranch hand (Luke) who has quietly admired Cheyenne from afar, and no Collin. Lights out, fireplace fully equipped with fire and warmth, Luke and Cheyenne fall for each other. The attraction is palpable, Luke is adorable in his shy, conscientious, and realistic view of the impact their attraction will have on their lives. One problem, Cheyenne does come off as a spoiled brat who is not mature enough yet and is rather rashly jumping into bed with Luke.

I would have preferred to see a friendship start between Cheyenne and Luke before this weekend. I know that being stranded in the middle of nowhere by the snow storm kind of throws them together, but a girl who have been raised to do as father orders, who has known all her life who she is expected to marry, would not just jump in bed with someone she is attracted to but has never had a conversation with.

What I did like is how the author takes the story and makes Cheyenne more mature toward the end, although maturity is not something you discover all of a sudden. Unfortunately, maturity is painful and comes by absorbing the lessons you personally learn or by watching the impact actions have on those who surround you.

The premise of this story shows great promise and from the blurb I believed this would be a group of short novellas that I would love... however, this was not the case.

Don't get me wrong, it could be a great little read - but it needs some work in order to polish it up to get it there.

My main issues were:

1) The writing tends to hop about from past to present tense (sometimes in the middle of sentences)

2) You don't get any real chance to know the characters and feel invested in them. I felt as though the author was telling me how I should 'feel' about the characters or 'perceive them to be' instead of allowing the reader to draw their own conclusions. From what I was 'told' I struggled to find the MC likeable. Cheyenne came across as naive, spoilt, fickle, and dare I say... CHEAP!

3) There are numerous editing issues that are very distracting. The odd spelling, punctuation and/or grammar mistake I can easily ignore but, I found that all too often there were words within the text missing, often bridging words that form smoother sentences, and it was hard to decipher what was actually being said at some points and this took away any enjoyment the story elicited and was extremely frustrating.

4)Some of the timelines didn't add up for me. E.g. the electric goes off, they wake up, f**k, get dressed, get rescued. Then it states that they spent 2 nights in the cabin??? Also, when they are travelling back from Collins to the ranch it is a 45min journey... a few pages later, Cheyenne is on her way back there and it is only 30mins???

5) It is described as erotic fiction... sadly, these scenes didn't live up to the expectation.

Overall, it has good promise but it needs more: more detail, more editing, more realism, more attention, more sizzle, more time spent on it... It is just too rushed.

Between a 3 and 3 1/2 Stars

Cheyenne is about to leave for a long weekend with her girlfriends, but actually she is sneaking away with the man she is decreed to marry. Luke, her father's farm hand, will take her to the cabin and then leave. That was the plan until a blizzard strands them both at the cabin.

The plot was simple - nothing that surprised me at all. And truthfully rather bland. I know this book is classified as erotica but I am not sure I would classify it that way. Yes they have sex but no more (or with any more kink) than a normal contemporary romance I read.

This says it is a bundle of novellas - well I would classify it as one novella. I looked up on Amazon and each separate novella is only estimated to be 25 pages. The whole "bundle" took me about 1 1/2 hours to read. There were some aspects of this book that really interested me - Luke being one that I wished I new more about - but detail is not this "bundles" strong point.

In all a nice quick read - maybe great when you have little time to devote to a book and just want a short get away. Think of it as a tapa instead of a full dinner!

Writing was not bad - and I would definitely consider a book from Morgan Black again if given the chance.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley for a honest review.

I just received an email stating that I received the wrong copy of this bundle. Below May be revised.

Part 1
Female lead acts very child like. And parts of the story didn't work. Like why would someone have pj bottoms in a survival pack?? And if you are without heat for over 12 hours in a blizzard and there is a draft, one would not be walking around in just pj bottoms. Not too mention the back of the house being warmer???

Also this was a review copy, not sure where they are with editing. With that said, many words are just left out and commas are not when needed.

Update...
I never received an updated version of this book as I was told would happen. Based on how bad part one was, I've decided not to continue.

Cheyenne intends to sneak away for a weekend with her fiancé, Collin, and is accompanied to the cabin by her father's ranch hand Luke, who plans to leave as soon as he gets her safely there. Instead, a snowstorm strands Luke with her, and Colin can't get there. Passion is ignited quickly between Luke and Cheyenne and they fall for one another.

This sounds like a great premise, but sadly, the book didn't live up to its potential. Part of that is probably due to the very short length of the book bundle, which says it is three novellas, but is still only 86 pages. Everything about the book felt rushed to me, the characters underdeveloped, and the writing, choppy in many places. I think there is a good story in there, but it needs more development. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC in return for an honest review.

I was rather disappointed in this book. From this description of the Fireside Bundle I really thought that this could be a winner, instead it felt more like a Clift Notes version of a full story. I have read many novellas that are well written for being so short, this one however packs in too many events with too little detail leading to a bland story.

I would also like to mention that I would not personally consider this a erotic novella; while Luke and Cheyenne did have sex the encounters were so short they seemed to last a paragraph and had absolutely not details (much like the rest if the book).

Argh, I should have taken the warning of the first installment of this series as a warning (read review here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...). There was nothing to recommend either the hero (Luke) or heroine (Cheyenne). I didn't feel empathy nor like for any of these characters. They saw, they came (literally) and they whined. They went from acquaintances to lovers to forever after in a blink of an eye (it's 86 pages, it is literally a blink or two). At one point it felt like "insert conflict here" and then fast forward to resolution. Yikes.

Received an ARC for review

Oh, I feel so bad for the people who read this as a serial and thought it was getting better. It was just blah. Started to pick up a little and then blah. Pick up a little and blah. At least it only took me about 45 minutes to read so I didn't waste a whole hour on it.

The blurb is what caught my attention, but I was disappointed with the story. This wasn't what I was hoping for, I was confused and wondering why she would what she did. Somethings just were not plausible to me.

Read this in The XOXO New Adult Collection. It was one of 16 full length stories of love and romance. Great story.
