The Bone Witcher of Knob Mountain: Intuitive Investigations Series, Book One

Rate this book
Twenty-five years ago, three college boys tackled an ambitious class assignment; a documentary surrounding the legend of The Flaming Woman, rumored to still haunt the highest ridges of Knob Mountain.

The boys left with fanfare, but they never returned. Their remains were never found.

Now, an old man approaches Intuitive Investigations, claiming he witnessed the boys’ murders. But when they find him lying in a pool of his own blood, the women instinctively know the deaths are connected. Technically, they have no authority in the old man’s murder case, but they’re committed to honoring his last wishes. Solving one murder could solve them all.

With no definitive proof that the boys even died on that mountain, Willow bravely enlists the help of a so-called mountain witch named Karnie. Some call her the Bone Witcher, because she has the ability to 'witch' for bones. Finding the unmarked grave containing the remains of three bodies is proof of murder. Now they need proof of their killer, and it’s a dangerous path they tread.

Book One of a brand-new series by Becki Willis, the award-winning author of over thirty books. Drawing from the rich cultural history of the Ozark Mountains, this series will be the perfect complement to the beloved The Sisters, Texas Mystery Series.

Intuitive Investigations
Three women. Three unique approaches to solving mysteries. Three generations of the same amazing family.

Willow Alexander, 52, divorced and forging a new life for herself as a private investigator.
Ireland Garret, 72, widowed and still mourning the loss of great love. For two men.
Everleigh Alexander, 32, single mom, amateur barista, and a breath of fresh air for the team.

Best-selling indie and hybrid author Becki Willis loves crafting stories with believable characters in believable situations. Many of her stories stem from her own personal experiences. (No worries; she's never actually murdered anyone).

When she’s not plotting danger and adventure for her imaginary friends, Becki enjoys reading, spending time with her family, unraveling a good mystery (real or imagined), dark chocolate, and a good cup of coffee.

A professed history geek, Becki often weaves pieces of the past into her novels. Family is a central theme in her stories and in her life. She and her husband enjoy traveling but believe coming home to their Texas ranch is the best part of any trip.

Becki has won numerous awards—including two Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Awards, InD’Tale’s coveted RONE, and been named Finalist for two Claymore Awards—but feels the real compliments come from her readers. Drop in for an e-visit anytime at beckiwillis.ccp@gmail.com, or www.beckiwillis.com.

Great Story!

I was drawn to this story by both the subject and the location. I learned of witching/dousing many years ago and decided o give it a try. It really does work! I've even switched for graves. And found them!

Decent read

It was interesting plot but am wondering if AI/Chatbot used as some sentences absolutely did not make sense, not just misspelled words but completely wrong words used. Obviously not proofread or such glaring errors would have been caught. I want nothing to do with AI/Chatbot because of the manipulation, cheating and downright criminal way it can be used. If an author is too lazy to do the work then I will not continue to read, much less pay for their books. I will stick with writers who love to write for the sake of it and use their own brains to create stories that are worth buying, not depending on AI to put it together

Something totally different but in keeping with this authors genre or mystery. Well written and engaging, this storyline is creative and pulls the reader into the plot and kept me turning pages long after I should have been asleep. The author paints a vivid picture of the mountain people and the art of bone witching. Informative and fun read. Looking forward to the follow-up book!

great read

Enjoyed the sister series and the first book of Intuitive Investigations will not disappoint. Karny is a mysterious one. The mother/daughter/grandmother team are delightful and each different with their own set of talents. Good plot with twists and turns. Well written. Can’t wait for next one

Hills and Hollars of the Ozarks

I growed up in Booger County, Missouri, down in one of the Booker's along the banks of Big Beaver Creek. I believe this story did
happen at one time or the making of it no how. I smiled, remembering many of the hill folk that fit the characters of this book. That was in another life time.

The Bone Witcher tales

Just finished this book in one day! I loved that modern detective work can use old methods to solve crimes. The book was well written, the characters were believable - especially Karnie. If you like women detectives, you will fall for these three generations of women who each have their own unique skill.

Good characters, plot and setting

I enjoyed this book. The interfacing of local lore and characters with the mystery was well done. The people feel real and I want to "see" them again.

Unfortunately

....this was a wonderful and intriguing plot, with warm characters and an interesting glimpse into the Ozarks. The unfortunate part is the poor editing; incorrect names or words poor spelling etc. These things took away from the adventure!

Kept me guessing

This was an enjoyable read, and I did not figure it out until the end. My kind of book. The characters were quite engaging, and I appreciated the backstory and the development of the characters who were the main parts of the story. I look forward to reading the next one in the series.
