This is a love story that draws you in and makes you melt inside. You fall in love with Rachel and Jordan from the beginning. Their childhood bond that cannot be broken with the passage of time. Their adult success didn’t change that bond that eventually draws them together. This bond is what makes this story so powerful and what makes you fall in love with these characters.
This is a book you cannot put down and will re-read again. It’s a love story that takes you on a journey and leaves you happy and fulfilled. I just loved this book !
What an emotional read, in a good way. Just a beautiful portrait of friendship that deepens and develops over time. But then as all relationships, the ties are tested with the challenging times to determine whether the bond is strong enough to overcome all. Makes me think of a quote that says some people cross our path for a season but some are meant to stay a lifetime.
I could not help but fall in love with Jordan and Rachel. I love how this story so powerfully depicts the various stages of friendship as well as individual growth and maturity. As the reader you get to personally know the protagonists to the point that it seems like they could step out of the book and we could be friends.
I also love how the story reveals the sacrifices inherent in chasing one’s dreams. Too often we are just told to chase our dreams and we should but this story gives a full scope view of how chasing our dreams comes with a price. But it’s that price that makes the victories that much sweeter. And along the way we realize it’s the struggles that show us who we really are.
So good. I’ll close with the quote from the book. “In every goodbye lies the promise of a new beginning.”
With a lot split POV I feel like the writing for both characters are the same style. you can tell the same person wrote both sides. The way Jennifer switches writing styles and changes the same type vocabulary are different. Making it really feel like you are in two different peoples minds. With that being said I never felt like the same verbiage was overly repeated.
As for the characters the main 4 characters the depth of thought put into these characters are clearly shown in how the characters grow and change while still holding to their true core personality. I loved our main characters but I loved their supportive parents just as much
The love these two characters showed and felt I could feel thru the pages. No matter how many times these two shared their love for the other in the head or out loud the words or the way they expressed them didn't feel repetitive or over done. I highlighted so many new phrases
I thought when I first started reading that I wasn't really going to get super into the book just by the way it started in the first chapters. But, the book quickly took grasp of my and I couldn't put it down. The way Jennifer writes has an amazing way of making you feel like you really are reading someone else thoughts as they are thinking them.

This is a new author for me and the writing of this book was definitely unique. The book alternates between the two main characters and we see their point of views as they grow up together. We not only see them grow as characters but we also see how their relationship goes through the ups and downs and develops into something beautiful.
This story is a 3.5 for me. It took me some time to get into it as I felt like it was way too much background information. I mean we meet these characters when they start Kindergarten and see them through all the stages of development until we get to adulthood. While I thought that was a unique way to write a story with so many details I found that it slowed down the story for me.
Overall I thought it was a good story and I am looking forward to reading other books by her in the future.
I received a digital copy of this book for review. I was not required to post a positive review. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
This story begins whenever Jordan & Rachel are 5 years old. They meet at school and instantly hit it off. Their friendship deepens as they grow and then feelings begin to form. They both have their own path to follow and a lot of hard things to go through along the way. I felt a lot of different emotions reading this one, but thought it was such a sweet second chance romance. Their love is so unique & REAL. It was great to see them chase their dreams, and I loved the deep loyalty they had towards one another. I was so happy whenever they reconnected at the library. That moment was long awaited and very beautiful.
Thank you so much for gifting me this book, Jennifer.
Quotes ✨ And it didn’t matter how far away from home I got; you were there. You were in every verse of every song I sang.
“Promise me this is real,” I said softly next to his ear. He loosened his grip and held me in front of him so I could see his face. I searched his eyes, my own swimming in restrained tears. “I swear it.”
No foul language, kissing only

6/5 read for me MFC Rachel MMC Jordan Second Chance Contemporary Romance Jordan and Rachel became friends at 6 years old. Jordan was her rock, Rachel was his light. They were inseparable. As time moves forward Jordan begins having feelings for Rachel but doesn’t tell her to avoid ruining their friendship. Eventually she finds out and they begin the journey of love. Rachel and Jordan had their future planned. Rachel would be attending college and Jordan was going to join her and work on his music career. They had their apartment but something came up and that plan derailed. Later down the road Rachel became a famous author, Jordan became a famous country singer. They reconnected and fell for each other all over again. Their connection and love is a force.
Jordan and Rachel’s story is heartbreaking but heart healing. The love, tragedy, and connection ties this book together.
The way Jennifer portrayed these characters makes you feel as if you are living their lives.
I loved this book with my whole heart

Jennifer Carr is a new-to-me author and Ms. Carr’s latest release Fall When You’re Ready is the first book in Ms. Carr’s Real American Country series. Fall When You’re Ready is a beautiful story of true friendship and love that ebbs and flows through the gambits of life. Readers meet BFFs Rachel and Jordan from their initial meeting in kindergarten, becoming inseparable from the get-go, traveling with them through the challenges of the teen years, to them falling in love, heartbreak, and following their dreams. Rachel lost her mother at young age, causing her to escape into imaginary worlds of reading and her own writings, making her Dad and Jordan her world. Jordan, having a more stable homelife, makes it his forever life mission to watch out and protect Rachel while having dreams of becoming the next country star. As the teenage years hit, both Rachel and Jordan’s worlds and feelings for one another start shifting and the foundations of their friendship begins to crumble.
My first thought when I read Jennifer Carr’s Fall When You’re Ready was, “The way this is written sweeps me in like a Karen Kingsbury book!” (And, that’s a good thing.) I love how all through the book the narratives switched between Rachel and Jordan’s perspectives of what was going on in their lives. I love how, as a reader, you knew clearly where Rachel and Jordan stood at all times and saw their unique perspective on the same things that happened to both of them equally. I love that Ms. Carr writes Rachel and Jordan’s friendship from the very beginning as kids in Kindergarten and that the reader got to read about them as they grew up. I was rooting for Rachel and Jordan from page one in love, life, and friendship. I felt myself very invested in Rachel and Jordan’s relationship as a reader and would constantly be yelling at them in my head, “Don’t give up on him/her! You don’t know the whole story yet!” or “Don’t do that, it’s going to be ok in the end!” Even though, Ms. Carr could have written a clean, clear-cut story of Rachel and Jordan’s relationship, I’m glad she wrote a lot of ups and downs and twists and turns into their relationship because it added an element in the story that made the reader want to stick with Rachel and Jordan through thick and thin. I love Fall When You’re Ready from beginning to end and having a front row seat watching Jordan and Rachel’s journey. If you are looking for a beautifully written, sweet enduring read about love, life, and friendship, I highly recommend Fall When You’re Ready by Jennifer Carr! I am looking forward to the rest of the Real American Country series!

This was a great book. And this author did a great job with this story and it well written plot. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't put it down. Jordan and Rachael their friendship was very special with a connecting that will lead them to fall in love with each other. They will make some many sacrifices for there dreams to come true. They faced many challenge but they will overcome the obstacles in a big way. Will they lived happily ever after ? Or will things change for them in their lives? I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed. I received advance reader copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. Trina Jones
This book is one of the best I have read in a long time. It starts off when the two main characters are children and follows their story through to the present day.
Rachel and Jordan’s story is just lovely up until they leave school when things get a little messy. I was really annoyed with Jordan at some points but don’t want to spoil the book for anyone with spoilers.
I felt like the ending rushed through the events a little from the library reunion and would have loved to hear more of their present day story with things like Jordan finding out who Ethan really was to Rachel, Rachel finding out that things weren’t quite as bad as they’d seemed during her unannounced visit when they were young (however the events then were still wrong) and generally just catching up about events in their past.
I really liked Jordan’s song lyrics / paragraphs from Rachel’s books that were included at the start of each chapter. It was a really nice touch.
I couldn’t put the book down and now can’t wait to check what other books Jennifer has released.

One one the sweetest stories on childhood friendship turned love story. I couldn't put the book down. I felt this story. Innocence of meeting your first and best friend. How this friendship grows together and apart. Still connected deeply even though miles separate the two main characters. Realities of life cause them to make choices. Choices made often create inner turmoil. Following your dreams sometimes comes at a cost. But when you have found the truest kind of love nothing else matters.
Rachel and Jordan meet in Kindergarten and their bond grew stronger every year. I loved seeing the progression of their friendship and how they were there for each other when they needed someone to lean on. Jordan falls first but takes his time waiting for Rachel until she was ready because he valued the friendship that much.
As they grew older, they made mistakes that kept them apart however their love for one another never went away. I loved how this book shows how they went separate ways to discover themselves and have different careers and how they reunite and figure out how to have those careers and be together.

The epitome of ‘if it’s meant to be, it’ll be’!!!! What started off as a small town romance turns into a beautiful journey following two different souls who lost each other along the way of their paths and ends in a happily ever after. The book seemed a little scary at first with the length but let me tell you, I could not get enough of Rachel and Jordan’s stories!
Everyone dreams about having a friendship like those two. Such a beautiful connection between two people that we got to follow along with. A story about personal growth, heartache and love written in a such an enjoyable way. I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to read more from Jennifer Carr.
Ok where do I begin. This book isn't some sappy love story. This book is a heartfelt, true-trials and tribulations of a real romance. This story had me smiling, crying tears of sadness and tears of joy. This Author knows exactly how to tell a story and keep your interest peaked. Rachel is such a sweetheart, and Jordan just a wholesome country boy with a heart of gold.
This is the first book of Carr's that I have read, and I was pulled into this story from the beginning, getting to know the 2 main characters. I enjoyed following the boy, Jordan, and the girl, Rachel, from kindergarten through high school, and as they grow up into young adults. They have a very unique relationship as best friends, and I couldn't wait to read more about their love story. We all need cheerleaders in our lives, and I became a cheerleader for Rachel and Jordan during all the challenges they go through together and apart. This was a very good romance story that I recommend to anyone who wants to curl up and escape into a love story that is pure and heartfelt. Clean read!
Jennifer Carr’s book is my favorite kind of book. The kind you can’t put down. Her descriptive writing style draws the reader right into the characters. I felt all the emotions as if they were my own. A truly beautiful story.
Rachel and Jordan’s story was wholesome 💙 once I started, I found it hard to stop reading. It felt a little drawn out in some places but I couldn’t wait for Rachel to get her happily ever after. Her sass at the end sold me even when she had already won me over. I can’t wait to keep following this series.
Rachel and Jordan each had dreams but hadn’t thought about what would happen when their dreams diverged and took them away from each other. But love that is real seems to find a way to point broken hearts to a second chance. Will the two of them arriving home provide that opportunity to reconnect? Or will the fear of failing to make it work cause them to hesitate?
Fall when you’re ready is a sweet, cute, romantic love story that everyone wants! I enjoyed the read, it was light and fun, with some real moments thrown In that made you want to cry! It feels like Taylor swifts song you belong to me, written into a book! Best friends from kindergarten! Does that even happen anymore? Must read! Find out if they make it!
I LOVED this book. It spoke to me in ways that others don’t because there are so many similarities in my own life. I loved the character development, the growth, and the promise of hope consistently woven throughout the entire story. Even in the heartache there was hope. My favorite aspect of the writing was the split between perspectives. My favorite books are always when you read from multiple characters perspectives. By far - best book I will read all year.
Jennifer Carr how in tune you are with affairs of the heart. These friends turned more ,I adore ,you deserve an encore .The way you write is a delight ,the manner in which you address the subject matter does matter ,you own it and shape as real to life . Great backgrounding that’s not only refreshing but astounding . The characters are relatable and written really swell, they’re like friends that I know really well . The storytelling is always compelling and this book is no exception . Friends to lovers ? Who can tell there’s other things going on as they mature and walk their own paths and who knows the way of the future or the aftermaths? Teenage angsts and the dance of will they won’t they have a romance at the school dance ? Rachel and Jordan have some growing up to do for sure ,but is their future together secure when they’re mature ? I think it was Buddy Holly who sang ‘True Love Ways’ and I can understand the sentiment nowadays. Do they stay friends for life if not an happy ever after man and wife? Well I’m not going to tell a thing at all just know that with this book I had a ball .The easy flow of the story meanders like a bubbling brook ,smooth at points and bubbling away frantically other areas these affairs of the heart but not forgetting it takes lots of moving parts ,characters too to make a dream or more come true . Told with heart ,mind and soul ,this author gives us it all. This couple is certainly endearing and they even had me tearing. Very well devised ,with this book I was mesmerised.
Truth be told, I’ve been a little burned out on romances lately. It seems like I’ve been reading the same old story wrapped up in a different package, but from the first few scenes of Fall When You’re Ready I knew in my heart this was going to be different.
I love how Jordan and Rachel’s story literally starts at their first meeting in kindergarten and takes us through the full progression of their relationship. So many stories gloss over the important first meeting but Jennifer Carr put us there, allowing the reader to see the full evolution of their relationship, and how their friendship took them through life. It’s these small details that endear me to a character, so from the beginning I was smitten with both Jordan and Rachel and their story.
The development of the novel is smooth, a large part due to the shorter segments within the chapters, as well as the natural progression of life itself. I love that I didn’t have to guess whose point of view I was reading, or the fact that we were able to see both Rachel and Jordan navigate throughout life but also their thought and emotions during those progressions.
This novel brought me back to my past relationships and growing up in general. I had always wished I had a ride-or-die like Rachel and Jordan were for one another, especially when I was growing up, but hormones always got in the way of friendships, and I loved that these two put their friendship first, which is so important in a partnership.
I don’t know how the author does it but she weaves this incredible tapestry between two simple individuals, their souls intertwined despite everything that life throws at them. The emotional rollercoaster of this story is immense, with times of struggle, moments of pure heartwarming elation, and everything in between, but baby was I here for the ride! This was one of my favorite reads so far for 2024 and I cannot wait to see where this new series takes us next!
*I have reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher through JustRead Tours. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.
I really enjoy Clean Romance books. Fall when You're Ready by Jennifer Carr is the latest in this genre that I have read. It is Book 1 in the Real American Country series.
Rachel and Jordan have known each other since Childhood. Rachel has always supported Jordan's dreams, but thought they would chase their dreams together. The pair has made promises to that fact, so Rachel was surprised when those promises did not play out and they friends took different paths in life to achieve their dreams and goals separately. Eventually the pair would both make their way back HOME. Rachel and Jordan quickly realize that the promises were never really forgotten and they have strong feelings for one another. Will they take their friendship to the next level? Will their promises now be fulfilled?
The storyline captivated me from the very first pages. I LOVE that Rachel and Jordan had such a great childhood friendship. I was sad when they went their separate ways to focus on their careers. Rachel being a would be author and Jordan a Country Music Artist. The author really made the challenges both of them faced alone in their career paths seem so real life. I was excited when the pair were both lead home and their friendship stood the test of time and challenges. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Clean Romance. FANTASTIC BOOK!
Sometimes stories try so hard to dazzle you, they forget to be true. Fall When You’re Ready does the opposite—it dares to be ordinary, and in doing so, becomes mythic. It doesn’t traffic in fate or fantasy, but in lunchbox trades, backyard rope swings, and the sacred ritual of sitting beside someone in silence when their family is falling apart. The myth here isn’t dragons or chosen ones—it’s the rare and terrifying feat of growing up with someone and not growing apart. Rachel and Jordan don’t fall in love with fanfare; they fall in sync. The book isn’t interested in who they might become as much as what they already are when they’re together: safe, seen, still curious. This story is for anyone who still remembers their childhood friend’s handwriting or knows the pain of not being the loudest voice in the room but the one that holds the history. Not every story needs conflict to have weight. Some stories just need two people who remember what they promised in crayon.
Fall When You’re Ready is the first book in the romance genre I have ever read, and it is a delight. I've always loved a good romance, but they generally were subordinate to the scifi or fantasy adventure I was enjoying. Turns out, romances can stand alone quite nicely, and even carry the story in a way that meant I couldn’t put the book down after the 75% mark, even knowing I had to get up in the morning. The story of Rachel and Jordan filled me with a roller coaster of emotions. The complexity of real relationships is portrayed with heart rending struggles and heart filling triumphs. I recommend this book whole-heartedly. The author weaves a masterful tale and I look forward to reading more by her. I do repeat a warning – don’t start the last fourth of the book if you don’t have time to finish it. You will be sleep deprived.
I thought this was a good story that followed two best friends from childhood into adulthood as they struggle with falling for each other but not wanting to ruin their friendship. I thought the author did a great job of making us care about the characters and what happened to them. I thought she did a great job of making us feel what the characters were feeling as they went through these changes. I liked how everything resolved and that they were able to work through things in the end. It is a long book but I thought the story made it worth reading. Overall, I thought this was a good story and it was very relatable.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
I love how this story was set up, with the story starting with Rachel and Jordan meeting in Kindergarten and following them as they grew up. The two make promises to one another along the way, and support each other through some difficult seasons as they go through school. When the chance to pursue their different dreams comes up, they go their separate ways.
I love how the story progressed! I love reading friends to something more romances, since that is what my own is. The author does a wonderful job of weaving the story through the highs and lows of the school years and starting a new career. This is such a sweet story! I look forward to reading more from the author.
I received this book from Just Read. This is my honest review.
Fall When You’re Ready is a heartwarming journey through friendship, first love, and the bittersweet transition from adolescence to adulthood. Rachel and Jordan's story captures the magic of growing up with someone who just gets you—and the emotional whirlwind that comes when friendship begins to blur into something more.
The characters are relatable, the emotions raw and authentic, and the story flows with the perfect balance of warmth and tension. From prom drama to life-changing decisions, every moment feels real and deeply felt.
This book is a nostalgic reminder of how messy, beautiful, and unforgettable young love can be. A must-read for anyone who remembers what it’s like to fall—not just in love, but into who you’re meant to be.
