When terrible secrets come to light, Brett must reevaluate everything she thinks she knows and decide which evil is worth trusting—and the serial killer with a soft spot isn't making things any easier for her. The crazed assassin has never desired a single thing before, and now all his sights are set on Brett. And what Ghost wants, Ghost gets.
But something bigger is at play. Something sinister. Soon, it will be up to Brett to uncover the horrible secrets the concrete jungle is hiding and bring all the criminals involved to justice. Even if it's at the cost of her heart.

Mindy Paige was born and raised in the jungles of Florida. She decided to pursue her lifelong dream of being an author after a grueling bachelor’s degree in botany. From contemporary to dark romance, she loves writing spicy, fast-paced stories, and has a goal to write the most unhinged MMC’s you can’t help but love.
If not writing or reading, Mindy can usually be found playing with her dogs, tending to her plants, watching trashy reality TV with her boyfriend, or fighting off alligators.
I have received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
3.5🌟 beautiful stars... if only, I could have gotten just a bit more. This was an interesting story with so so much potential.
Before I start: Venom and Rupert (the cat and dog yes) are the true heroes of this story and I will not accept any other opinions! 😍😂
Ghost is the epitome of a boyfriend. He literally does the things real men should do for their partners. He had me blushing way too many times. He's also great at revealing that inner child, where you feel and fall for both the adult and the child in him.
Brett was a good match for Ghost, but I found I wanted more from her. I never knew why she had these nightmares, and at some point it felt like the story pivoted to focus on Ghost and the Sanctum and Brett was there for support role, nothing more.
I wish more tragedy happened, hehe, even with the trigger warnings I wanted more, especially more from cruelty towards Brett from the Sanctum. But our Ghost is quite an overprotective MF.
The side stories knitted things together and gave spark to the story without overshadowing the main love story. The snaps from the diary and the rulebook were a great tool that I wish was utilised more especially to help the plot ending.
I am too excited for Orion and Seraphine's story. They're the most enticing characters for me!
We met ghost in the first book and I was so happy to read his story! Ghost is a phantom for some twisted people groomed as a child this is all he knows then he meets Bret and wants to mess with her ! I am obsessed with this book as much as the first one! Morally grey MMC feisty FMC
I’m still fairly new to this author so I didn’t know what to expect going into it. However, I really enjoyed it and will be going back and reading book one in the series (this series doesn’t need to be read in order.)
You’ll enjoy this book if you like these tropes… ♡
♡ Stalker Romance ♡ Dark Romance ♡ Enemies-to-Lovers ♡ Lady Napping ♡ Masked MMC ♡ Virgin Black Cat FMC ♡ FBI Agent/Villain ♡ First Love ♡ He Can’t Feel (Literally) ♡ Touch Her & Die Vibes ♡ DUAL POV ♡ Secret Crime Society ♡ Blood Play ♡ Tragic Backstories ♡ Forced Proximity
I am a sucker for a good dark, stalker, touch her or die romance and this beauty ticked all the right boxes. This book was intense, to say the least!
Ghost is a Phantom for a Secret Crime Society of some pretty twisted and messed up people. The man was groomed and pushed when he was younger to grow up to be the person he is today, it’s the only life he knows and it’s the only life he has lived. However, that all starts to change when he sets his eyes on a beautiful woman by the name of Brett. What started as a fun game to play and mess with her, turns into him falling head over heels for her which puts her at risk of the world he’s from. Is he able to keep her away and safe?
Brett was perfect, I loved her so much. She was a spitfire and doesn’t take anyone’s bullshit. She’s strong and resilient and even though she knows it’s dangerous and she shouldn’t be anywhere near Ghost, for some reason there is something that attracts her and that has drawn her to him.
It doesn’t take long for these two to be entwined in each other. The chemistry, the push and pull, the passion and the heat were perfection!
It was hard not to get lost in the story and get consumed by the characters and their story and even the side characters have me intrigued... I am hoping to see more of them in books to come. I loved this book. It was well-written and addictive as hell. High recommended!
I genuinely wish Goodreads would allow half-star ratings because The Phantom's Vice is one of those books that deserves more than just three stars but doesn't reach the level of a four-star read. There are elements in this book that genuinely stand out, yet some aspects left me a bit disappointed.
One of the main reasons for this in-between rating is that the love story and the main plot felt somewhat detached. The Sanctum plot could have been more strongly interwoven into their relationship. I get that Brett and Ghost needed their little ""me-time,"" and it's a testament to Paige's skill that this relationship never veers into cliché territory or feels like yet another case of Stockholm Syndrome. Still, the plot could have gained greater momentum with the Sanctum playing a more prominent role and perhaps utilising Brett's professional background.
The diary entries seemed a promising device but didn't quite hit the mark. They felt more like filler than an essential part of the story. The diary had the potential to add depth and tension to the Sanctum plot, but instead left me wanting more. Had these entries been used differently, they could have provided crucial insight into the organisation and momentum, especially since the ending was a real ""big bang"" moment that left me absolutely flabbergasted.
Despite these plot concerns, the characters are where The Phantom's Vice truly shines. Ghost, in particular, is an intriguingly complex character whose weird, annoying, possessive, and occasionally overbearing traits make him stand out. You can't help but love him for his depth and mystery, even when he's insufferable. Then there's Orion, the sidekick with potential written all over him. While his ""Oh oh, I know that look on your face"" moments are amusing, I can't help but wish he'd been used for more comedic relief. He's got the personality; just give him the stage (I guess I have to wait for the third book now🫣)!
Brett was a mixed bag for me. As a private person, she was fierce, lovable, and complex. But Brett, the FBI agent, was nothing short of a catastrophe. Her professional decisions often made me cringe, and at times, I found myself questioning her competence. Nevertheless, I loved how Brett and Ghost...well, let's just say, found each other. Their connection was intriguing, and the Phantom's obsession added layers to their story. I only wish this aspect had been utilised more intricately.
Venom and Rupert were delightful additions, providing much-needed comedic relief and breaking up the tension with their quirky antics.
Overall, The Phantom's Vice had some truly great moments, and I loved all the characters, with Ghost being the real standout. Mindy Paige has crafted a world that's both mysterious and captivating, drawing readers in with its rich detail and intriguing characters. Still, there's room for improvement in terms of plot cohesion and character development. If you enjoy a mix of romance, mystery, and a dash of humour, this book will be an enjoyable read.
*I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving the ARC didn't affect my opinion of the book.
You want FBI agent falls for Villain ✔️ You want touch her & die ✔️ You want enemies to lovers (she literally tries to kill him ALL the time💀) ✔️ You want morally grey man but has a sweet spot for a certain black cat FMC ✔️✔️✔️
Add to your TBR ASAP!
I could not put this book down at all, my nose was glued to my kindle. I went into this book very blind not reading book one of the series & honestly I will be reading book one ASAP if it’s anything like this book. Wow, this book was incredible I loved every second of it. I was constantly biting my nails while reading and sitting at the edge of my chair, you just never knew what Ghost was gonna do next and I am absolutely in love with him😭.
Brett and Ghost have got to be one of my favorite enemies to lovers story I’ve read so far this year. The book follows Brett a FBI agent who is on the hunt to find and arrest “The Phantom” who we know as Ghost. This love story was sad with a little humor and the spice added into it was 🥵🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽 We all know how these morally grey men always seem to fall in love with women that are literally out to kill them😭😂
The relationship between Brett and Ghost was the best thing about the book. The relationship is literally like an onion the more layers you peel the better it keeps getting. Ghost upbringing as a kid really touched me 😪 i just wanted to give him a hug whenever his childhood was brought up and same for Brett there trauma really just gutted me. But no matter how fucked Ghost was in the head, the way he LOVED/CARED for Brett 🥹🤍 He really gave touch/hurt her and you die energy & boy did that microwave almost got the boot😭😂 . Even the after care he provided for her ughhh I just loved every second of him and this book. Brett & Ghost are a perfect pair they’ve both have horrible past but they pushed through & found love within each other and both become stronger.
This was my first book by the author & it won’t be my last Mindy I will definitely be picking up your books more 🫶🏽🫶🏽 Thank you for the ARC copy the book was amazing!
I remember meeting Ghost in the first book of this series and instantly wanted to know more about him so I was so happy to see that his book was next in the series and it did not disappoint.
Man let me tell you getting to know Ghost and seeing his background will make your heart break from him. Nobody should go through what he endured as a 6 year old child. I really loved his relationship with all the characters he was close to in this book. His relationship with Orion though really stood out to me because he considered the Teen family (even if he never came out and said it).
Brett. I absolutely love a feisty and strong FMC in a book like this and Brett’s character did not disappoint me. She was determined to take down Ghost and the Sanctum but what she found was so much more than she expected.
I absolutely loved Ghost and Brett together. The things Ghost did for Brett was everything…the man did not come from a kind home and was basically raised to become an assassin but the care he had for Brett was so amazing to see. Ghost despite some of his questionable tactics…cough cough stalking and kidnapping…he was the perfect gentleman for Brett and would burn the whole world down just to keep her safe.
There was so much that happened at the end of this book and I honestly can not wait to get my hands on stary #3 and see what happens with Orion!
Thank you to the Author agency for the arc of this book.
"Something inside me always drew me to her light, that little brilliance hidden behind enough darkness that no one even knew it was there. But it’s a marvelous light, the most rare kind of beauty. And now that it’s a part of me, I cannot be rid of it. Would never want to be."
I was lucky to receive an ARC of Mindy Paige's newest book, The Phantom's Vice (book two in the Dark Triad series). It follows the story of Brett and Ghost.
Mindy Paige is a new-to-me author, and I went into The Phantom's Vice not knowing much about it or the Dark Triad series.
I loved Brett and Ghost's story and thought they were perfect for each other.
My heart broke for Brett and everything she has been through and experienced, but I am in complete awe of her strength after everything she has endured. I loved that she was unapologetically herself and not afraid to ask questions and find out the truth even though it put her life in danger more than once.
Ghost intrigued me, and I enjoyed learning more about him and his past. My heart broke for him, particularly after discovering what happened to him as a child and what he experienced. He has an interesting past that is for sure!
I am a sucker for animals in a book and loved Venom and Rupert!
That last epilogue! 🤯
You cannot end a book like that. I have so many questions running through my head that I need answers to. I need The Reaper's Vice as soon as possible!
Thank you so much to Mindy Paige and @theauthor.agency for this ARC 💜
* I highly recommend reading The Devil's Vice (book one in the Dark Triad series) before you read The Phantom's Vice. *

It's not a 2-star review because I don't actively hate the book, but this wasn't good. The plot was meh, the "badass" FMC, FBI agent was flat, and the MMC, Phantom, was more interesting in the first book.
I took a long break since I started the book before I finished it, and I'm pretty sure I was more excited about the first part of the book than the rest, even though it was obvious from the beginning that a lot of points are identical to the first book.
“death has tried, and failed before to tear us apart. no, darling—my soul is tied to yours, i’m sure of it. i feel it when i touch you… that unbreakable, unfathomable recognition. it took me thirty-six years to find you this time, but i have no doubt in others, i have had you for longer. i would find you anywhere, my darling. i have, and i will again.”
something truly magical happened to me with this book. even before the prologue, i already knew this was going to be a 5-star for me and not once throughout the whole story did i ever wavered on that feeling. as soon as i read “the rules” (it will make sense once you pick up the book), i had a visceral reaction and immediately fell in love with this. the story was perfect; the author grew tremendously in her writing since book 1 and everything about this was a testament to that. not only was the overarching plot of the trilogy crafted both brilliantly and beautifully alike, but the romance in this made me ache and weep and long for something even remotely as devoted as the mmc was to his woman. i genuinely don’t believe i have ever read about a more emotional man than ghost, which made all of his trauma hurt so much deeper. he deserve the peace, but above all the unconditional acceptance and affection the fmc brought to his life. i can’t wait, albeit impatiently, for the next and final instalment of this series.
* i was sent an arc by the author and the author agency in exchange for a honest review
“I love you,” I whisper, placing a kiss square in the middle of her brow. “Endlessly. Unequivocally. You are so much more than mine, darling. You’re my everything. And I’ll spend the rest of my days haunting you, if you’ll let me.” ____________________________________ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
The Phantom’s Vice is yet another story with characters who will live with me forever. Learning about Ghost and his backstory? EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
We got a little snippet of Ghost in the first book of The Dark Triad series: The Devil’s Vice so I knew when Mindy was giving Ghost his story I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. The story telling and character development is ✨top tier✨ I laughed and I cried which is exactly how I love my books. I want to feel all the emotions and this book hit the feels.
I absolutely loved Brett and how unapologetically herself she was. She was one of those feisty badass FMCs, but had such a way of making Ghost melt like putty for her. We also love a protective and possessive MMC am I right? And that is exactly what Ghost is.
If you like these tropes: 💜 Touch her and 💀 💜 Electric play 💜 Enemies to Lovers 💜 Masked MMC 💜 Secret Society 💜 FBI agent + Assassin
Then you need to run and add this book to your TBR like right now! The Phantom’s Vice is available now on Kindle Unlimited
Mindy, thank you so much for the opportunity to ARC read another one of your books!
{an e-ARC of The Phantom’s Vice was given to me in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts here are my very own}
Way better then book 1. The plot was more cohesive and didn't feel like it was there for convenience. Wish it didn't end with her pregnant in the epilogue but you win some you loose some ig.
Arc Review: I’d like to say thank you to the author Mindy Paige and The Author Agency for sending me an advanced readers copy of ‘The Phantom’s Vice’, this book was absolutely incredible just like I knew it would be.

The Phantom’s Vice is the second book in The Dark Triad series and I thought it was amazing. I haven’t read the first book in the series yet but it’s definitely on my tbr after reading this book.
Summary: Ghost is a phantom for a secret society full of some messed up people. Ghost was groomed as a child to be the person he is today, it’s the life he knows until one day he sees the most beautiful woman he’s ever laid eyes on her name is Brett. Brett is an FBI agent looking for a serial killer who just so happens to be Ghost. Ghost starts to make his presence more known to Brett but fun and games can only last so long in his world, he’s truly now obsessed with Brett but that puts her in danger, can Ghost keep her safe?
Characters: -Brett- I loved Brett she was a strong confident woman who took no shits from anyone. How could you hate her. -Ghost- I loved Ghost he was protective and possessive. I honestly wanted to cry at certain parts for him and give him a hug, he just wanted to be good all he ever wanted was to be loved.
I loved these two characters and I just loved this book. But the ending to this book killed me a little bit but I just had to keep telling myself that it’s the setup for the next book, it won’t be like this forever. So I can honestly say that book 3 is going to be one I want to read, and I think you should all read this book in the meantime and we can all wait together.
We have an unaliver, Ghost, who never falls in love but once he saw FBI agent, Brett and now there's no going back.
Ghost is a "Phantom", the most high level of assassin in a secret society known as the "Sanctum". And the code rules.. I was like.. WTFFF. And for him stalking and obsessing over Brett is no exception.
THIS BOOK HAD MY MIND BOOM!! Mindy Paige, she is so sweet but she did a badass job at creating this book. The scene... Jim, Ghost, Brett...(iykyk)
I was giggling at various points, especially. "𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘬𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘴... 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳." This scene was so cute... And when she ask him that if he loves her more than Rupert and Venom... haha that had me..
This book was amazing. This is my first time reading Mindy's book. The details, the plot, everything was perfect. It kept me hooked. My heart was aching for them, for the things they both went through.
The Phantom Vice revolves around the story of an FBI agent and a phantom of Sanctum. Sanctum is a secret society that deals with darker things. When Brett starts working on a case and tries to find the most wanted criminal. She meets him. GHOST.👀
Boo 👻
Ghost is a phantom and he works under the Sanctum. He was groomed and forced to be the killer he's today. The moment he meets her, he gets obsessed with her. He does everything to keep her safe, including stalking and kidnapping. He loves her so much that he doesn't care about anything. Man is whipped. I loved his character. The way he loves her is my undoing. He tries everything to make the world a better place for her.🤌💜
Brett is an FBI agent. She's a badass fmc. She's a strong and determined FMC. All she wants is to solve the case and find the truth. I loved her character too. She's a feisty little thing. She doesn't care what will happen to her. All she cares about is ghosts. They are both so good 😭.
Their banter was amazing. I loved their growing relationship and love for each other.💜
The nonstop rush during this story was crazy! You really feel how hectic everything became once Brett became a target for the Sanctum. It made me so happy that Ghost looked out for her even if it would complicate things on both ends. The fact that he was keeping tabs on her either way?! He was smitten lol, he just wouldn’t admit it yet🤣
There were so many twists and turns along with questions to be answered with the Sanctum as well. People being betrayed left and right too but it was so good!
Ghost was introduced in The Devil’s Vice(book 1) and I was SO curious about his character and backstory, thankfully Mindy didn’t make us wait too long before we got his book! It was everything and more that I wanted from his story!!!! Ghost very obviously had a dark past, one that made him very detached from others to the point he only had a handful of people he could truly count on. I very much so got Cat and Mouse vibes from the stalking / protecting her from afar trope. It was absolutely gripping I couldn’t put it down from the second I opened the book!! The banter, the heat and chemistry between the two, it was everything. I’m 100% sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for book 3! I cannot wait to find out Orion’s story and maybe have some cameos from Ghosty and Brett while he works his way out of trouble!
I went in blind and didn't read the first book, but man, was I hooked! 🔍😱
Ghost, the character, is just... depraved. When an FBI agent (our FMC) gets on his trail and finds a vital piece of evidence, his obsession reaches a whole new level. It's intense! The writing is detailed, which I love, but it also keeps up a fast pace, so you're always on your toes. 📝💨
This book is a perfect mix of suspense, spice, and psychological drama. If you're into stories that keep you guessing and your heart racing, give this one a shot! 🕵️♂️🌶️🧠
This book was dark and depraved in the best way. I mean this man would literally burn everything to the ground (including himself) for his woman. If you’re looking for a dark romance with a strong FMC that does not put up with the MMC’s BS without a fight, this book is it! I also cannot wait to see Orion’s story. Anyways, I highly recommend this book!
Thank you to Mindy Paige for the ARC. These are my own thoughts.
So I read the first book and honestly, didn't like it that much so I was a bit hesitant to read this one even though I got the arc for it (I got the arc before I read book one). But, even though Ghost was a side character - I liked him more than the mcs of book one so I decided to give it a try and I liked this one so much better. I will say I feel like the basis of the storylines were a bit too similar though however, this one read much better and Ghost and Brett were much more likable characters than Lillith and Kain. Ghost had a way better background, as did Brett. I also loved the addition of their pets, Venom was my favorite little kitty sidesick and cackled in laughter at them having their own POV chapters and their thoughts. 😂 I enjoyed getting to know Ghost more and understanding him as a person and finding someone who saw the goodness he wanted to be since he was a child. I loved Brett for him, even though I also feel she should've fought him a bit more but, her thoughts and feelings for him made more sense than Lillith's and she at least struggled internally with her feelings way more realistically than Lillith did. I did enjoy seeing Kaine again if only because I love his bickering with Ghost and how he struggles to accept his friendship.
I also reallllly liked the whole thing with Ghost being unable to feel. I don't think that was even remotely hinted at in book one? But I thought it was done well and enjoyed how it shaped his character.
I also really like Orion's character and I'm curious how his book is going to go especially with an 8 year time jump.
Overall ratings: ✨️: It wasn't quite the 4 stars for me but, I'd probably give it a 3.75. I didn't hate it, it was enjoyable enough and I liked the characters but, I wouldn't read it again. 🌶: 3.5/5
This book was incredible. I went in blind without reading the first book of this series and wow how this one blew my mind. I loved how well-developed the plot was, with intricate details that wove together seamlessly. Each element of the story felt purposeful (like the "Rules" for example), contributing to a larger narrative that would be unfolded later on. The layers of complexity had me constantly on the edge of my seat throughout reading this book.
However, my absolute favorite part of this book was the relationship between the Ghost and Brett. Is he both the serial unaliver she's looking for AND her stalker? Yes. Is he so utterly obsessed with her that he literally can't even think straight? Yes. Will he be one of the most dedicated and precious book men you will have EVER met? 100% YES! I am in love with every simple detail we're given about his feelings for her, even his simple appreciation of calling her beautiful every day. The way he cared for Brett, the way he got FURIOUS at inanimate objects just because she hurt herself on them, the way her touch was the only thing he could actually physically feel, and the way he was willing to risk his life for her at every moment was just so endearing. I wanted to sob whenever he felt guilty thinking that he is not enough, that she will deserve so much better than him. His trauma was so heartbreaking, and it hurts me just knowing that he had gone through all that. That's why I'm so glad he found the love and acceptance he deserves from his soulmate-a woman who is willing to walk through any fire to protect him.
The quotes I loved:
"She's going to kill me. I swear to God one of these days my heart is going to stop just from looking at her."
"Her name echoes throughout my mind as I follow her into the darkness. And it is the warmest embrace I have ever known."
"I'm brought out of my thoughts as Brett's laughter fills the room, loud and clear. Like the angels singing from the heavens, those sounds coming from her parted lips fill my ears, my lungs and my veins. I'm suddenly full of life, full of light. For the first time in years, I want to laugh, as well."
"Brett," I growl, pulling her into another deep kiss. "Brett, I'm obsessed with you." "I know," she whispers, a devilish grin breaking our kiss.
"You're such a strange little thing, Brett Evangeline. I'm honored that the fates allowed me to come into your life."
"It's against the laws of nature - someone so magnetic shouldn't be allowed to exist on this Earth. Yet here he is. holding me hostage in his lair by the sea."
I want to reach out, reach inside her mind and tear out whatever revelation is causing it. I want to hold her soft, tearstained cheeks in my palms and tell her everything is okay. I'm making it okay. When this is all over, there won't be a thing left in this city to harm her. I'm going to burn it all down-taking all the rot, all the disease with me. For her. It's always been for her.
This is the first time I've read a book by this author, and impressed is definitely an understatement. Thank you Mindy Paige and the Author Agency for this ARC copy.

Mindy Paige delivers a captivating story filled with unexpected twists and complex characters. Fans of suspenseful thrillers and morally ambiguous narratives will find much to enjoy in this engaging novel.
Wow Mindy, you definitely know how to write dark stories. I read dark books and this was very dark. So it is imperative that you read the TW. I will tell you there were parts where my heart was ripped out for Ghost and what he went through at home and the Sanctum. This was absolutely mind blowing, thought Book one was wow but this one was even better. I seriously have something wrong with me as this is second stalker I've fallen for haha. Ghost is a Phantom. A Phantom is the highest position in the Sanctum, they're elite and they unalive on order. His next target is the new FBI in town, Brett. Brett is excited as she has been given a big case and can't wait to catch the culprit. Also she is looking into her mother's disappearance 2 yrs ago. She is a troubled soul and deep down she has darkness hidden in her. Ghost is totally broken and he is ruthless, calculating and still has manners, which was cute. But you see hint of the tortured little boy that peeks out wanting to be loved. He knows Brett can't live a monster like him, so he loves her from afar. He is absolutely obsessed with her and his stalker level is above and beyond and I'm here for it 🙈. When Ghost hasn't completed his mission, Madam is suspicious and it's only so long before both Brett and Ghosts life is in danger. Why he kidnaps Brett. The Sanctum is big and they own a lot of high profile people. Can they survive them? who do they trust? Will Brett finally put her suspect in jail? What will she do when she finds out a big secret that shakes her world? Yep plenty of drama, suspense, secrets, action, gore, humour, back and forth banter, super adorable pets, emotional, heartbreak, love and extra spicy with elements of BDSM. One thing I will say the pets Venom and Rupert might have stole my heart along with Ghost. They were absolutely awesome, you will see why. Loved that last chapter haha. Poor Orion, I know his story will be heartbreaking, I love him already.
“You pushed too far, darling. Now look at you—sobbing on my c*ck.”
“You are mine to play with, mine to pleasure. Mine to torture,”
“Who the f*ck are you?” “A shadow. A nightmare. The unholy thing that goes bump in the night. Neither flesh, blood, nor idea.”

Review: Darling, words...can I form words to express how much I loved this?! I am spellbound by how much this speaks to my love of angsty, tortured soul, dangerous, skillful and, of course, handsome leading men. I have a type...and that type is GHOST 👻
First, I will sum up as brief as I can the plot. We have an elite trained unaliver, Ghost, who becomes obsessed with the young and smart FBI agent, Brett. Ghost is a "Phantom", the most highly trained level of assassin in a secret society known as the "Sanctum". With a unique condition since birth, he cannot feel sensation but it's more than his heart that begins to feel things when he happens upon the raven haired beauty.
We get ladynapping, violent scenes of his murderous inclinations (tinged with his dark humor) but most importantly, we peel back the tender scarred layers of Ghost. His POV and the labyrinthian journey we take into his fractured emotions are nothing short of spellbinding. Mindy has gifted us with writing this man and his unique voice with luscious detail. At times he is but a scared animal, then the next, powerful and impenetrable.
Brett has a fascinating past as well and the way it intersects with Ghost's provides even more juicy secrets. Layer on the threat of the Sanctum on Ghost's heels for breaking their beloved code, and a powerfully electric finale with action and suspense...and you have his stellar story leaving you out of breath!
Ghost was like the perfect of mix of "V" (from V for Vendetta...winking at you, Mindy for that one scene in particular nodding to it😉), Phantom of the Opera's Erik, Hannibal Lector and a dash of John Wick...aka...he's my dream man 😆
To quote Hannibal, "his pathology is a thousand times more savage and more terryifying". But my heart broke for him, literally felt my chest tighten in scenes. He is positively magnetic to watch and listen to...a masked Phantom indeed, an apex predator, but beneath the blood, scars and mask...he is a man, a man whose heart begins to beat when it finds love and will murder the world to keep her in it.
This is on my list list of favorite books ever! Can't wait for book 3!
I am speechless.. I don’t even know how to explain how much I loved this book🖤. The suspense was intense & amazing!
Brett & Ghost were everything of course we can’t forget Venom a fierce black cat 🐈⬛ & Rupert a soft but strong Great Pyrenees 🐕.
We first meet Ghost in The Devils Vice as Kains friend . Ghost is a phantom for a secret crime society which consumes of many horrible and messed up people. Ghost mom sold him to the society when he was just 6 years old. What he went through was horrible. He is know as someone who doesn’t feel pain literally! When Ghost meet Brett things really changed for him and he wanted her all to himself. He started by stalking her and watching every move she made, along the way he found out he was falling for her hard and fast.
Brett who is a FBI Agent who has been trying to discover the phantom and put him behind bars for good. She is such a fierce and strong FMC. I love that for her. She really wanted nothing to do with ghost but when he started leaving little notes in her house she didn’t know how to feel, he was growing on her and she couldn’t believe she was actually starting to like him. She started to be consumed by him and once he made her stay with him to protect her she started to fall for him.
The banter between the two was amazing. Also we cant forget Orion the teenager Ghost had taken in when he was a young child. Orion is definitely Ghost side kick and would do anything for Ghost.
I loved the obsession Ghost has with Brett especially how much he would do for her to keep her away from the danger and all the little things he does for her.
Have you ever meet a stalker/kidnapper who also can treat you like a delicate flower!?
Ghost literally goes to all lengths to take down the head master Madem of the Santcum. He put himself and Kain at risk to keep Orion & Brett safe. I literally was crying because of everything that went on in the last few chapters. The suspense throughout this book had me on the edge of my seat.
This book is in my top 5 of books of the year! I loved every second of it. The epilogue had me throwing my kindle across the bed! I can’t believe what happened! I need/want book 3!

THIS BOOK HAD ME SPEECHLESS!! Mindy Paige is such a badass for creating this book, SHE DID HER DAMN THING ON THIS ONE!! Let me just say, this did not disappoint at any second. I turned pages faster than my life depending on it, wanting more and needing to read more of this book. I loved how the contrast of the story played out, not knowing what was coming next.
Brett Evangeline is an FBI agent who not only wants the answers to her questions but is willing to get down to the very bottom to get those answers. She doesn't let anything stand in her way of doing her job. She's a strong and determined FMC, who will stop at nothing to protect the one person she didn't think she would love. Confused at so many secrets lying beneath her feet she has to do one thing. TRUST the man who won't leave her alone. ( GIRLLL fell overrrr the heels for this man and wanted him down bad every second she could get)
Ghost is a hot, tall, and terrifying MMC, not only does he get what he wants, but he gets it right at the snap of his fingers. He will stop at nothing to protect the one girl who wants to take him down for all he has done. Ghost is a powerful yet chanting man, he is unstoppable to anything that dares to step in front of him. He will stop a million bullets from getting Brett. I LITERALLY love this man but I'm not trying to get GOT by an FBI agent ( help!)
PICK THIS UP NOWW, I was itching to have more of this story. This is a read you will hold close to your heart because of the stories and the hardships that happened between character's backstories. My heart was aching for Ghost and Brett. Not only is this book in my top reads of the year, but my favorite dark romance book!! This book had me jumping up and down just waiting for the next spark to happen. This book had me looking over my shoulder but my head buried in the book. This author has a gift of writing that I can't wait to read more of in book 3 of this series!!!
4.5⭐️ Review I don’t know where to begin so let’s start at the beginning. We briefly meet Ghost in Mindy’s first book the Devil’s Vice and of course I instantly loved the mysterious badass masked man. So the second book The Phantoms Vice being all about him was a no brainer to rush to read.
The plot for the first 3/4 of the book is purely surrounding Ghost and Brett’s jobs, the hunt/chase, their romance, and their spice which is delectable! It also has small buildup to the endgame of the book. Ghost’s instant attraction AND obsession with Brett was absolutely to die for. I love how he treasured Brett from moment one. He did all the basic stalkerish things but to the extreme and then he proceeds to cherish her so deeply when he’s never had the urge to do so for anyone else. I loved Brett’s initial chase to find the Phantom and his battle to wait it out before kidnapping her. Then you get to the actual kidnapping and a whole new world was opened to Brett. A world of deceit, lust, love, pleasure, security, complexity, found family and so much more. Mindy does a perfect job with the flashbacks to help us become attracted to the characters and understand their situations. I definitely felt a connection to each character for various different reasons.
The last 1/4 the book is where the action happens and oh my gosh I can’t say much but that ending had me almost ripping my hair out!! But then there is a HEA and all is well. Until the last epilogue…. I leave you here with that knowledge. I’ll be patiently waiting for Book 3.
I could go on and on about this book because I loved it so much and could not recommend it more. I love the characters, Ghost, Brett, and everyone else who appears. Well almost everyone. I loved the plot line, the writing, the setting, and oh my gosh, the pets!!! I’m glad I was able to read Ghost’s story, he was everything I thought he’d be and more. And so much more. 🤤
