Guarding Dizzy

Rate this book
Dear Author,
The picture above is of two younger guys; high school- or university-age. They are both smart. The one lying down is a delinquent (looks can be deceiving!). The only one who can keep him under control, and who he listens to, is the one sitting up with a collar on. They had heard of one another but never met until that fateful day... How did they meet? Did they get along at first or did they grow on each other? How did they end up on the couch with a leash and collar? Perhaps, it was a dare at first, but it blossomed and opened them both up to a new world...of fun…

Photo Description:
Two young men lounge comfortably on a couch. One wears a collar and leash, has his shirt open and his jeans undone, the second smaller man leans against him with the leash in his hand. He wears a waistcoat and shirt with a silk bow at the neck and kisses the fingers of the first man.

This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love’s Landscapes" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.

I would like to Thank Ms. Casey Cox for taking my prompt and giving life to it. My prompt had many paths but I feel it was given justice. I liked how the story played out and we were giving a happy ending.

We have Dizzy and Miro. Dizzy/Dale/Derrek(many names) is shorter than Miro. He is very strong-minded and quick to action. He doesn't like to be walked over and will let you know. Miro is the hot 'gym god' of campus. No one has ever seen him with anyone, he is very focused on his studies, but is well known and friendly.

When they finally met up and talk to one another, the sparks fly quickly, in more than one way. Thou, it was fast past, it didn't seem rushed to me at all. I really like each of them and I think they balanced one another out well. There is a little bit of a D/S undertone and I think if the story was longer(or continued) we would see more of that develop.

Contemporary NA story with a British setting
Miro is a third year student, and he's serious about two things, his studies and rowing. When his friend Jerry draws Dizzy, a flamboyant dancer, to his attention he finds himself smitten and acting out of his comfort zone. Dizzy, or Dale as he would prefer to be called, isn't just a dancer, he's a serious architect student - or he would be if he wasn't also a bit of a delinquent who was on the verge of being thrown out of uni. Whilst Miro wants to protect and look after Dale, when it comes to their personal relationship, he wants Dale to take the lead. This is a fun little story of the start of a relationship between two people who are very different personality wise once you get under the acts they put on for others when out in public.

I'm surprised I liked this book as much as I did. Miro and Dale went from hot to cold that many times, I'm surprised I don't have whiplash now. But something kept me entertained and I found it almost comical the way they went on.

The BDSM wasn't the most hardcore thing ever, which was good. I liked the fact they switched roles. Also, it was fun to see both guys get possessive over each other.

The Jerry thing was... well, lets just say, I could have done without it. But it wasn't the worst thing in the world either. So I think 4 stars, roughly, works for this. And I'm really glad I took the chance and read this.

What a fun romp! Just enough cute, snark, arse-i-ness, and sexy. Lot's of the sexy. (Not to be confused with 'lots of sex')

Offered for FREE from the M/M Romance Group's Love's Landscapes event. Thank you too all the amazing authors who participated!

That went from mediocre, to bad, to worse. I actually stopped at page 46 out of 48 when they finally got to the sex scene, because I just hated everyone so much at that point and could not give two fucks anymore. The most schizophrenic characters... ever.

It started promising, but the minute Miro meets Dizzy it all goes to shit. He loses all social skills whatsoever and drag Dizzy to his house because he wants Dizzy to leave him alone. Huh? Yeah, you got that right. Despite all this craziness, Dizzy waits until some stupid small thing to flip out over and start yelling, and then Miro shuts him up with a kiss. Lather, rise, gouge my eyes out.

Then someone who Miro has been friends with for three years all of a sudden turns into a sociopath, acting increasingly more insane with every interaction... but a girl points out his err, and he immediately apologizes, but then flirts with the boy... but then gets the girl? I'm so confused.

Everything felt forced, from the collar references to the BDSM. The friends and the 'chemistry'. Even Dizzy's name change was awkward. Just, no.

Guarding Dizzy is a fast paced but cute read about two college students beginning a relationship. Miro is so utterly focused on school work and rowing that he hasn't had a relationship for 3 years. No one but his best friend even knows his sexual preference. Dale (aka Dizzy) is an architect student and dancer who's mouth runs ahead of him.

Dizzy, Dizzy, Dizzy... How very appropriate. These boys run so hot and cold that I felt at times that I was missing something, especially from Miro. I couldn't help but feel that if Miro had been fleshed out more, or both of these characters really, that I would have understood better why everything was so start and stop between them. Will, Miro's best friend, even hinted that there was something deeper with Miro, yet we didn't get to see it.
There were some things that I really appreciated about this story; their need for open and clear communication between each other (even if at times it was anything but clear) and I adored that they both wanted to wait and take things slowly in their relationship.

An entertaining and cute read. My thanks to the author for their time and participation in the Loves Landscapes event.

It started out promising and I was really looking forward but suddenly it went all downhill for me. The second Miro meets Dizzy the MCs behaviour is totally random, stop and go, several 180 degree turns in a couple of minutes without any or proper explanation. I couldn't finish this story because I couldn't relateat all to the MCs.

I liked bits of this. Dizzy was awesome, but the other guy's caharacterisation was a little inconsistent for me.
