Hello it is lovely to meet you, thank you for looking at my profile and for showing an interest in my stories. I am from the UK and I have very bad dyslexia so I get a lot of help and I mean a lot of help getting the stories from head to Paper. I also have a number of other health problems and my mind races constantly so again I need a lot of help getting the thoughts from from head to Paper. To all who help me I would like to say a massive thank you. I try to get messages across in my stories and so far they seem to be getting through which is awesome.
The author very kindly sent me a copy of this in exchange for a review.
I enjoyed the story immensely and I can't believe this is his debut novel, you would think he had been writing for years.
This is a story about a family of four living ordinary mundane lives who's lives are turned upside down when one of the children go missing.
It introduces separate characters viewpoints that are extremely cleverly woven together. At the start of the book these other viewpoints don't connect with the family or disappearance of the young boy. It is interesting to get the back story on all the important characters that eventually become central to the story.
Book gets very intense once we know what has happened to the son and what follows is an amazing account of a court case that if you didn't know was fiction you would think this was a true court case. The author does an amazing job of showing how the whole family and people working alongside them are affected both mentally and emotionally. It is interesting to see how tragedy can affects us all in different ways and how we deal with loss and bereavement.
After the court case there is shocking twist that you do not expect which makes the book even more compelling.
If you like true crime, thrillers, psychological dramas then pick this up, its an amazing story you won't forget in a long time. Truly breathtaking book which would make for an amazing movie, let's hope Hollywood picks this up, as it is certainly head and tails above most thrillers I have read.
Pat on the book Mr Ferguson amazing piece of fiction, extremely impressed.
This book was sent to me by one of the kindest people I have spoken to over the GoodReads site, author P.J Ferguson. He reached out to me about a month ago and offered to send me copies of his recent releases and I, being the book lover that I am, eagerly accepted.
This book follows the journey of a man as he struggles with grief, loss, and the decisions that lead him to this point in his life. While he faces his personal demons, we journey along with him as he recognizes what it truly means to be a father, and the oftentimes painful lessons of love.
I think that one of my favorite scenes included in the novel was the one in the last chapter before the ending, it was beautifully written and so well done. I genuinely thought that it was the greatest possible way for the novel to finish.
There was an element of supernaturalism that I would have LOVED to see more of, but overall I really, really enjoyed reading this novel. Definitely one of the most memorable of my week so far, and I can't wait to begin another one of his novels soon!
I was sent this book by the author in return for my honest review and can I just say I am SO happy he asked me to read it!
Daddy follows a man named Joe Williams. He lives a mundane life with his twin boys, Sean and Mikey, and his wife, Maddie. When a tragedy strikes the family, it is up to a jury of 12 to help the family move on and come to terms with what happened.
I absolutely LOVED this book! Although this is PJ's debut novel, it does not feel that way at all. It is so well written and extremely entertaining! I must admit, it took awhile to get interesting but when the tragedy strikes things pick up quickly and I wasn't able to put the book down! I loved the changing points of views and I feel like they were all timed perfectly.
This is definitely one of my favourite books of 2015 now and I can't wait to read PJ's second novel!
I received a copy of this book to review in a Goodreads Giveaway.
This was a seriously compelling story. I am the world's slowest reader but I got through this relatively quickly for me!
A previous reviewer expressed their surprise at this being Mr Ferguson's first novel and I would like to agree whole-heartedly with this. The book is extremely well-written and feels like the work of a seasoned author.
While the plot of the novel is incredibly sad and somewhat gruesome at times it is also very entertaining. I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened next. I won't go into detail about the storyline here so as not to spoil it for other readers but I will say that the ending certainly took me by surprise. This book kept me guessing right until the last page (and brought a tear to my eye!).
ETA: It was also very refreshing to read a story of this type that was not set in London! I grew up not a million miles from Merseyside and could picture the setting really well as a result.
You get a nice build up the main characters in the beginning, once I was past the initial build up part of me wanted to put the book down, mainly because of the depth of emotion the storyline was creating but these same emotions were the reason I could not put the book down. I wanted to read on to see if justice was done. I wanted to see if there was any resolve or closure to the hellish situation this family were going through. I will not say how the book ends but I will say it is and it isn't the ending you would expect. To sum it up this book will keep you reading right to the end, you will find it hard to keep reading but you will find it harder to put down.
I won a copy of this book from the author, through Goodreads.
I wish there was an option to give this book a 4.5 star rating.
Daddy is the Law and Order of criminal fiction. It's not just about the family's perspective, nor the crime investigating. This book takes place prior to the crime being committed to post-sentencing, broadening the crime-to-capture typicalness of criminal drama fiction.
SPOILER ALERT
My only complaint about this book is the ending. The ending wasn't bad - in fact, I think it was a wise decision for the author to finish the book on the way he did. I just wished it had ended differently, more happily. But I can appreciate the author's creative decision to end it in the way he did.

Having received this back in September I have finally managed to take time to read this from cover to cover. :) I have to say it is a wonderfully written, suspense filled and delightful book to read. It is a real page turner from start to finish and it is emotive and thought-provking.
Amazing book! The suspense and the emotion were so strong my heart was pounding the whole way through. Daddy is a story that captured my heart from the beginning with a family that you quickly grow attached to. When their 9 year old boy disappears, it was all I could do to sit still and read, I was so nervous for him. What follows with the Dad's search and the events later is so compelling and heart-rending that I had to put down the book for a moment because my heart hurt for them, and it was so emotional to go through the experiences with them. The book is compelling in showing the perspective of a family going through life-changing events, and the suspense is edge-of-your-seat. The story is so real and captures what happens so vividly that I found myself feeling a lot of compassion for families that go through such horror. I'm trying not to spoil the book, so you'll have to read it to find out what happens. I highly recommend this book! I can't wait to read more by this author, P.J. Ferguson. Thanks so much to Goodreads and the author for the complimentary book in exchange for an honest review.
A story about an ordinary working man who life is quickly turns tragic. Struggling to support his wife and twin sons to make ends meet and taking his wife for granted as they seem to be fighting constantly in their daily life.
When one of their sons goes missing one Sunday afternoon, he finds himself searching for him with hopes to be found but it soon turn tragic as his body is found weeks later. This takes a toll on the family and the other twin who cannot sleep due to nightmares.
We watch as he struggles through the nightmare and his need to seek revenge in the end. This ia story no parent should not go through in their lifetime. An engrossing read.
What a thrilling, emotional roller coaster of a book. It offers a remarkable insight into the English court system and also the emotional toll that having to be a part of the system will take on you.
Ferguson writes with a sensitivity to the subject that many other authors would not be able to do.
Intriguing with an ending that thrills, surprises and also takes you through the wringer with the emotion that is jumping off the page and into your heart.
This book will make you hug your family tighter - and lend a new outlook on what we read and see in the news.
Heart breaking story that really enlightens you on how the Justice system can fail regarding the punishment someone receives does not always reflect the crime committed. He tragically ruined this families life and should have been sentenced to a much longer jail term. Never be released again to have a chance to do it to another child. He ruined and took someone’s life ( self admitted to killing many other children) anyone that makes that choice should have no chance at a life themselves. This book brought tears to my eyes quite a few times. I was angry at moments and heartbroken at other times. I will never understand how anyone could make the choice to hurt another human so brutally, let alone a child.
