Leaving The Skulls was the best and worst decision of his life. Butch knew to keep his woman, Cheryl and her young son safe, he needed to make sacrifices, and pulling out of the club was the only way to go. Cheryl loves Butch, but she will not accept him quitting the club. She doesn’t need him to become a saint in order to love him.
Butch cannot understand that and is more than willing to make any sacrifice necessary for Cheryl, but now those very sacrifices are about to tear apart everything he’s ever known.
With a new threat facing them and no way for him to protect his woman, Butch has to make a choice. However, Butch is not all that he seems. He’s got a past that even The Skulls don’t know about, and no one is safe.
Life as The Skulls know it is about to be blown apart.
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
Butch is book #7 in the Skulls series written by Sam Crescent. This installment, if I am honest; was somewhat of a disappointment to me. First of all, I will say that it wasn't so much the story line that was a downer..it was the constant repetition of the same themes through out a majority of the book. An example would be how many times it was brought up that Butch left the Skulls, and that they were no longer his business. This continued on all of the way through, and I understand that Butch leaving his club is a big deal and plays a huge part in the story line; it got to be very irritating. That was my big complaint with this installment, but I will say that I did quite like Butch and Cheryl as a couple, and Cheryl made an awesome heroine who I really respected. Her love for Butch was truly unconditional, and she just wanted him to be happy-even if that meant going back into the clubs fold and bringing possible danger to their doorstep.
In this seventh installment things start heating up in a big way. We get some history on Butch's past, and it is pretty shocking and gruesome what he has lived through as a child. He was taught to keep everything a secret, and he did just that. The Skulls were his life; but he walked out of the club for a woman and her child. He had so much fear that he would bring danger to Cheryl and her son; he insisted things would be safer if he left. So, Butch takes on a job as a dishwasher..YIKES! I can't think that he would be happy doing that for life..and luckily..Cheryl begins to feel the same way, and she begins to encourage Butch to follow his heart and go back to his Club Family..Unfortuneatly he is torn though, and really I feel his perception is way off..I mean, wouldn't it be better to have the club members around his woman and child so they can help protect them??
One of the big shockers comes when we find out who little Matthew's father is. Crap hits the fan with that reveal, and the shocking events continue through out the story; all of the way until the end. There are so many changes in store for The Skulls, and also for the town they live in. There is an enemy, that will change the whole name of the game, and things are looking very grim for everyone.
Sam Crescent has done a wonderful job of opening up this series wide open. There are many different directions it can go now.. and there are so new major players that are introduced too. All in all, I am still hooked on this series and I will continue reading until the end. The Skulls have become a familiar face to me, and I am eagerly awaiting poor Whizz's story. That will be an intense one I am sure. Do I recommend this series?? Absolutely! Especially to the readers who love a great MC story. I am very glad to have come across Ms. Crescent's work, as I seem to enjoy anything that she writes!
Well, well, well! Cheryl's baby daddy turned into quite the shocker! Not sure I liked that .I liked Butch,Cheryl,so, so.Things are heating up for the 2 MC's and not gor the better. That Frederich is one evil sob.Poor Ashley, she deserved better. And what is that with the epilogue, another MC into the mix,and is Butch's sister ALIVE!!! As the song goes" the heat is on"
LOTS OF TWISTS AND TURNS AND THIS ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER
This is probably my least favourite of this series so far, I had been looking forward to Butch's story but I felt a little let down by it. Butch I'm afraid to say got on my nerves with his indicisive behaviour. He's left the Skulls for the woman he wants, Cheryl and her son Mathew. Cheryl is a single mother struggling to get by, Butch has seen the other club members old ladies get hurt and doesn't want to risk that with Cheryl. Mathew, Cheryl's son is not Butch's but he's willing to be the father figure in his life. The threat from Butch's past makes an unwelcome return. Dangerous times are ahead.
I'd like to say that to get the full picture as to what is happening in the Skull's series you really need to read the Chaos Bleeds series as well as the series cross over into each other. There are a few shocking revelations in this story the biggest regarding The identity of Mathew's father, I didn't see that coming! Overall I think this is more of a transition story and a stepping stone to the big finale. I just wish I could have liked this more than I did.
The minute Butch realized he wanted to build a future with Cheryl and her son Michael, Butch made a decision about his duty to the Skulls MC. With the Skulls MC in constant danger, he didn't want that for Cheryl so he turned in his vest and walked away. It hasn't stopped the MC from trying to get him back, but he has to think about his future.
The problem is Cheryl never asked him to leave and she sees that an important part of who he is. With an enemy from Butch's past making his presence known, Cheryl is in danger and Butch knows he needs back in the club, but will they accept him back?
Mixed feelings on this one because the MC pushes Butch to come back and felt unresolved with how that portion of the story unfolded. Definitely intriguing story, I do think though since I have read the books out of order it needs to be read in order because this had important plot line points
This book was the most intense and perhaps the most bloodiest out of all the Skulls books. Characters were addictive and charming (in a obscene kind of way of course). Not sure if this will be the last book or not but I definitely see characters in this one continuing in other series linked to this. This was good read and I can't wait to read Blind Devotion which is suppose to Pussy's story in the Devils Chaos series, which is where the shit will continue hit the fan... There ain't gonna be clean or purely scented spot up in this literary crib! DONT MAKE US WAIT SAM. This book worm ain't one of your most patient readers. I'm a wee bit spoiled lil bitch... I might have to go all TATE on your rump!
What in the world is up with that ending? HEAs for six books and now the game changes. Butch has left the club for Cheryl and Matthew. He's seen all the violence, and refuses to put them thru it. A new enemy has arrived with a history with Butch. Gonzalez has threatened the Skulls and Chaos Bleeds.
Butch and Cheryl have to deal with Cheryl's " baby daddy" drama too. Butch is torn between loving Cheryl, wanting a civilian life, and having the Skulls as family and protection. Not sure where this series is going.
Butch's future in the Skulls is still undecided,Alex wants Butch to "go rogue" for the Skulls, and Butch's past coming back with ties to his father Savage's MC. A lot of unanswered questions, left me a little unfulfilled.
This series is getting to complicated I am going to need a score card with notes on each character. Not that I don't enjoy the series. But adding ANOTHER bike club is confusing.
Ok so the series has grown on me. The only thing I didn't like was Butch and him not feeling like the club was good enough for her.bseriously man up! I wanted to kick his ass for that.
Butch - The Skulls MC Series - Book 7 - By - Sam Crescent
Butch is the seventh book in the Skulls MC series and it features around Butch who left us on edge at the end of book six and his woman Cheryl. Neal "Butch" Coal has a history his brothers in The Skulls MC don't know about. Born into the Savage Brothers MC he was always destined to lead the life of an MC member. When his family and club were brutally murdered whilst he was a boy he thought after he survived and escaped the clutches of the Gonzales family he would be able to start his life over. He was wrong. His past is colliding with his future and now he doesn't know which way to turn. He turned away from his brothers, The Skulls thinking the woman who stole his heart couldn't handle the life of the club. He was so wrong. Now he has to make amends and help save the club along with his woman Cheryl Barnes and her son Michael before he looses everything. Butch made a huge mistake stepping away from the Skulls but he won't admit it. He is to stubborn for his own good. However, his feelings for Cheryl are perfect, he is loving, kind and patient. He loves her more than words can say and has fallen for her little boy in equal measure. It is beautiful to read. We see a tenderness to Butch that he only shows his family along with his alpha male side, but also emotions that he shares with his woman and his brothers showing his human side, its delicious to read. I love Cheryl she is the perfect balance of sweetness and still has a backbone. There is more to her than meets the eye. Its wonderful to see the female lead showing plus size representation which is refreshing. It was good to see more of Lash and Tiny, along with Alex but he didn't cast himself in a totally favourable light at times, I'm not sure what to make of him. Another brother Gash and new prospects are coming which is exciting. I loved seeing more of Devil and the other members of the Chaos Bleeds MC. I love the camaraderie that the members of both clubs share together within their separate clubs but also when they come together. This story does give the couple a happily ever after together but the overall threat towards the club is not resolved yet so I can't wait to see what happens next along with the unraveling of the twist at the end. Sam really does excel at writing well crafted characters, storylines with twists and turns, along with plot twists that keep you guessing and scorching hot scenes that have you eagerly turning every page to see what will happen next. I am so excited to see what will happen next. Another great addition to a truly exciting and addictive series. Happy Reading. 5 out of 5 stars.
Butch...well let's just say, I have a love/hate relationship with this character. Butch left the Skulls at the end of Zero because he wanted a relationship with Cheryl, he felt that she would be safer without The Club. Well when Butch's past comes back to take over The Skulls and Chaos Bleed, he will have to beg to get back into the fold. Cheryl is smart, sexy, a single mother who loves Butch but she believes he made an awful decision with walking away from his family The Skulls. Tiny and the boys keep at Butch to come back but he keeps throwing the word NO around. But when Cheryl ends up in the hands of the evil Gonzalez Butch will have to beg, plead for a spot back with The Skulls, doesnt mean Tiny will let him in without a vote and Butch proving his worth. At times I wanted to throttle Butch, he whined acted like a fool at times. Will the Skulls give into Butch and can they take down the evilist enemy they have encountered to date. Gonzalez has no fear and wants power and control. Well if you have read any of The Skulls or Chaos Bleeds than you have to read Butch, I suggest reading this series and Chaos Bleeds in reading order. Each book starts off were the last ended, the storyline follows from story to story that I would be lost starting this series in the middle. So take a ride with these raw, dirty talking Bikers and their old ladies. Happy Reading!!!
Butch aka Neal met Cheryl during Zero’s story. Now he is out of the Skulls. He wants to start a life with her away from danger. Will that be enough for him especially when his past is coming back in? Should he give us his MC and that life or fight? I have to say I can understand why he left. But at the same time, it was a stupid move. You can never outrun your past. It will always catch up to you. And that is what Gonzalez does. He is cold and cruel. Alan was all out crazy and sadistic. Gonzalez is a power hungry man that wants to take everything. Not only from the Chaos Bleeds but the Skulls as well. He is playing a sick game with both MCs. Butch isn’t going to back down but he really needs the Skulls. He is being so stubborn about it. I think if he would have asked Cheryl in the beginning, she would have told him no. He wasn’t happy with what he was doing. Meaningless jobs. His happiness was with the Skulls, always. But he needed to learn that the women were not weak either. I never understand why the women are thought to be weak. Prue trained the ladies in the last book. They are stronger then they look. The amount of times that he gets told to get his head out of his butt and family is mind blowing. I love Butch but someone needed to really smack him up the head a few time. And Gonzalez is a piece of work. That man is worming his way into areas that only money can buy. This is not going to end well. I know the next book “Revenge” is going to get messy.
All the issues I’ve had with this series are only getting worse with me adding plot lines into the things that’s wrong list.
Butch’s character is a flip flopping confused mess. He doesn’t know who he is or whose side he’s supposed to be on. I don’t think the author knows either. She keeps writing these characters starting with such potential into dislikable messes by the ends of each book.
She has grammatical errors and continuity issues which don’t help the stories and plot lines at all. In this book in particular, she turned a loyal man into a triple agent or quadruple. I’m so confused I’m not 100% sure how much of a duplicitous character she wants him to be.
Now the author is introducing more characters that were nowhere to be found in the first six books. IMO, if you have to add characters all late in the game like that then you should have just ended the series. She could have done a spin-off series, not like the Chaos Bleeds series, but like the next generation or something.
Anyway, this book ends on a cliffhanger, but the next book won’t have Butch as the lead character. That pissed me off. The author should have at least ended this story with a lead into the next story with the same enemy.
I knew this was going to be a hard one to get through when I started. Like I was just avoiding reading and that says something. That's why 3 stars. Its not often that I feel like I'm forcing myself to read the book and this one was it. It was an OK story compared to the others but it lacked more than the others so far. I mean it started getting better at the end but still wasn't feeling it.
Butch thought he needed to leave The Skulls to make sure Cheryl was safe. Biggest mistake of his life. Now he has three clubs who he needs to help and no one who will truly be on his side in the end, or will they?
A good addition to the series. Good storyline and characters. I did get tired of Butch being so back and forth about being in and out of the MC. Overall it was good.
At the end of Zero, Butch (Skulls member) decides to walk away/leave/resign from The Skulls in hopes of starting a relationship with Cheryl (civilian who works at the local church and flower shop). Cheryl is a single mother with a son, Matthew. Butch thinks that since he wants Cheryl and Matthew in his life, the only way to protect them from the danger of the MC and their enemies is to leave the club.
This book got right to it! The prologue was awesome and set the tone for the rest of the book. We quickly learned about Butch's horrific past and the things he overcame in his childhood. I was immediately sucked into the story after reading the prologue!!
I liked Butch and Cheryl as a couple. I felt their strong connection to each other and Matthew. I was invested in the outcome of their relationship. Cheryl was a mother who had so much love for her son, it was heartwarming to read. She was portrayed as a bit of a church girl, but there was so much more to her. Butch was the alpha-male-biker who fiercely defended and protected Cheryl and Matthew. No surprise, Butch was dominant and sexy in the bedroom scenes. There was also some light BDSM play, which kept things interesting.
While there was some drama in this book, it was not as raw and gritty as in some of the other books in the series. There were a few scenes where I was so shocked and surprised! The new threat, Fredrick, first appears in the Chaos Bleeds MC series, Curse's Claim. He has now turned his attention to the Skulls MC. I just love how the two MC's are connected. Both series blend so well together!!
Rant:
I would say this book was more transitional, meaning nothing was really resolved. This was more about setting the stage for the war that is coming with Fredrick. I'm excited to continue to read the series. I wonder who will next. Whizz? Danny? Looking forward to the next edition!
Why Not 5 Stars?
Butch...WTF!! Butch may be the first biker main character that turned me off due to his stubbornness and disrespect of the MC. At 70% into the story I was sick of him saying 'I'm not coming back to the club'. And yet, it continued. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the "I'm leaving the club to be with Cheryl" storyline, but it became old and went on too long. I think his denial continued until the 85% mark, and by that time, I really disliked him and wanted him gone! I also thought he showed the MC such disrespect. Looks like this will be dealt with in the next book. I can't wait to find out!!
The rawness and action was not present. Perhaps I'm spoiled, but I always look for a violent fight/showdown with the Skulls and I did not get it. I get that the showdown is coming in a later book, but I still missed it! I wanted some bullets flying, bad guys in the hospital with broken bones, explosions, etc.
I love that each book in The Skulls series builds on the prior one. The one thing about this story that bothered me was that the MC kept pushing Butch to come back and then when he was willing they wanted to put it to a vote.
This book had a great mix of suspense and romance. The main and secondary characters were mesmerizing. This book kept me on my toes all the way through. Just when I had it figured out, a twist was thrown in. Overall, this was a delightful book. I cannot wait until the next book. I found this book was very well written with an interesting plot.
Butch was a member of The Skulls. He is willing to leave the only family he has to put the one woman and her son that he had come to love and care for first. While it’s a mixed bag of the best and worst decision of his life, forces beyond his control draw him into a game where he needs The Skulls help.
Cheryl has fallen in love with Butch and does not mind that he is a member of the Skulls. She also loves how he spends time with her son. It does not seem to bother him that he is another man’s child. Cheryl is willing to push Butch to go back to the Skulls if that makes him happy.
The connection Butch and Cheryl is intense. The chemistry between them is off the charts. I loved that Butch in his own way tried to put what he thought Cheryl would want first above his own wants and needs. The sex scenes were hot. These two make a great match together.
Butch is the seventh book in The Skulls series by Sam Crescent. This book is part of a series and I find it best read as part of the series. There are characters, plot and events overlap as the series continues.
Well...I don't know where to start. There so much happening. So much twist. Sam really outdone herself. Well probably start with the books star - Butch. He was alpha hardcore and also so sweet with Cheryl and her son, Matthew. But so stuborn, like broken record: "I'm not coming back". Blah blah blah. Made me wanna bash his head more than one time. Actually the rest of the Skulls get there too. After all the s**t going on in their life, they should bond more and less fight between each other. God! Stuborn old boars. Cheryl at first looked to me like she was too meek for being an old lady. But I was very glad that first impression was wrong. She got a lot of fire inside. The way she so easily accepted into her small world Butch and his family, The Skulls, was so heartfelt. She was really an awesome character. Though short visit it was I fall for Pu**y aka Shane. The man always make some light into the hard situations every time he opened his mouth. LOL The Matthew's mistery of the father made me a lot to speculate. I just knew theres a reason for not mentioning him a lot or his name. This was an unexpected twist. And even though at first I wanted to kick him because of his action's and word's, in the end he kinda redeemed himself. How the story unrolled I feel so sorry for Ashley and in return for Chaos Bleed's crew. And the enemy. Frederick Gonzalez.God he made me so mad. I have all kinds of plans in my head running with how torture and then finish his life. Yup, Sam, made me sadistic, blood tirsty lady. Sam minds working just blow my mind. So intriguing and so much twist's in the end and full of complex, that I just don't know now what to expect next. I just so can't wait for more, that my eyes are twitching.
Talk about being pulled in a million directions! Its hard being loyal to just one club, what with all the secrets and crap but to have more than two clubs depending on you, plus your wife and kid, a drug a cartel, a whole town.....the pressure is on! I understand why Butch felt the need to leave the club, I don't think his reasons were stupid, selfish nor because he was scared, he thought he was doing the right thing at the time, yeah it turned out horribly wrong, but his heart was in the right place.
Things are heating up with this Gonzalez character, these two clubs need to up their game and start thinking outside of the box if they want to win the war against this new and old enemy! (The Skulls and Chaos Bleeds)
Overall, very good story, very emotional, does get the reader upset with all the club rules and politics but I guess they are in place for a reason. What goes for one member goes for all and while Tiny may seem like an unfeeling prick, he's a fair president and does what's right for his club and family, even if we don't agree with it. On the plus side, at least for me, Lash and Angel didn't make any appearances in this book so YAY! I can't stand either character so I was happy they were kept out, with the exception of a few sporadic phone calls from Lash to Butch, but those were few...thank goodness.
FYI: As to be expected with every book in this series there is a slight, very slight cliffhanger, not a massive one. Butch and Cheryl's story has been told and finished, the next book should be about The Skulls getting revenge, nothing big was left hanging...so no worries...
"Let him play with the other little kids", they say... "He'll be fine", they reassure her... "Tiny's got the best security guards", they stupidly boast... Good gods!! Will this club NEVER learn that bad things are bound to happen and that they ALWAYS happen when the majority of the club members are together?!! *sighs an incredibly heavy sigh*
Anywho... I really liked Butch- this book as a whole and the Hero himself! I loved how protective he was of Cheryl & Michael and how he'd literally do ANYTHING for them. He was solid (for the most part) on his stance of wanting to remain out of the Skulls and I respected his reasons, even if I (& everyone else) knew he'd forever be a part of them.
Cheryl was a sweetheart. I liked how she treated Butch; with so much love & care, wanting what's best for him just as she wanted for her son, Michael. I loved how she told her mother what she really felt & didn't let her intimidate her into doing something she didn't want to do. Cheryl is definitely old lady material.
As for Frederick... that no-good-stinkin' b*****d! Now he is a truly EVIL villain. I appreciate how he owns it but I CANNOT WAIT for him to meet his maker!!
The ending, of course, is such a tease of things to come! These Skulls epilogues just suck you in for the next installment!! Now, I'm dying to find out... how is Chaos Bleeds going to react to what they're bound to be getting in the mail?!
This is not a standalone. Must read in author's suggested order.
Butch (biker) started visiting the church next to the clubhouse in the last book, when he met Cheryl (single mom, florist). He was apparently so entranced that he quit the MC to pursue her. We pick up at that point in this book. Now at this time, he's not even dating Cheryl. He's just hanging out with her, following her like a puppy. They haven't even kissed yet. But that's what Butch decided he wanted to do. It doesn't take too long for Cheryl to fall for Butch's puppy dog charm. Issue is Cheryl's mom is a righteous bytch. I was hoping she'd get killed off, but that didn't happen.
We get several shockers in this one. First, Cheryl's baby daddy is revealed. Then The Skulls members are attacked by the same bad guy, Frederick Gonzalez, that is threatening Chaos Bleeds. Freddy boy is not one to f*ck around with. He's got two tough MCs by the balls. What ever will they do?? Who else can come to help them??? Guess we'll wait and see......
Sam Crescent goes hard core in this series. I like that she just went for it. This is one of the first series I read by her and it's older. That's why I'm so disappointed in her new books. New ones have no drama and no sex. Sucks.
Now y'all know SC isn't a great writer. But I like these characters and I have fun with these stories (despite all the violence).
I have to say I enjoyed the conflict and subsequent subplots more then the romance. Crescent blows the storyline wide open and leaves it open. I do think readers should know they have to switch between the Skull and Chaos series in order to get the full storyline. I read Butch before Curse's Claim so the references to CC I didn't understand. Too much repetition in why Butch left the Skulls. I think the Skulls acted like little kids with their begging Butch to come back, using him when they all got arrested but then shutting the door in his face crying, "So sorry, club business." If that was the case then they should have never called him to bail them out. He should have bitch slapped them all. Romance wise, it was okay. Butch and Cheryl together was a tad boring. There was no conflict and the sex scenes weren't really that exciting.
There is a cliffhanger and the story continues in Blind Devotion which is #4 in Chaos series. I'm guessing book 8 in Skull series will wrap up this particular storyline and be Alex's story.
I LOVE the skulls series so I of course adored reading this book I will say that I feel like this book never really had a real ending just because so many things are left unresolved and the big spin was simply MC Fantastic I am not going to post spoilers but I was FTFO big time in a very good way I can't wait to get to know all the new players I am pretty sure Sam Crescent wasn't kidding when she said that things with the skulls would never be the same after her big book comes out and oh wow I just can't wait I loved this if you have read the skulls and chaos bleeds series yet you sooooooo need to go and click buy on all the books now !!!
I don't say this lightly because I'm just anal enough to hate not finishing a series unless it sucks. The skulls series has been well written and engaging but the story lines regardless of the HEA are bordering on depressing. Someone I like is always getting shot, beaten, stabbed....it's gotten old.
The characters especially the heroines are also becoming a tad repetitive. I can't with 100% clarity recall the details of the previous books. I know I enjoyed them but that's it.
This latest twist just doesn't sit right for me and is so damn messy. Do I want to continue??
OMG! I was so left speechless after reading this book. I totally love Sam Crescent and her books. Storyline was entertaining, action packed, filled with a roller coaster of emotions. Poor Butch seemed to have tunnel vision when he thought leaving the Club was the best thing for him and his new love, Cheryl. At times, I wanted to smack him and say wake up dude! Good lord, this was definitely one of those books you can't put down. I was floored with the way the book ended. Can't wait to read the next in the series to see what happens. Would recommend this book and the whole series.
I did like this book and I love getting to know all the boys from the club and Butch had a pretty shitty hand in life but to leave the club I just didn't get it - he thought he was protecting Cheryl and her son but trouble will always find you if you have a past. It was a bit repetitive with Butch going on that he is not part of the club anymore and the ending just left you hanging making me feel like we need another book about Butch.
All in all I enjoy Sam Crescent's books but I also find her books repetitive especially when describing the women.
