I love love love this. A fave manga already. nice balance of tension and sweetness. id love to see more action and intensity in the romance as it continues. The art is lush
So glad I decided to continue with this series as this volume was just as good possibly better than the first. It seems like the power dynamic is not going to continue to be Nanao having no voice. In this volume she’s actually using her voice, which is a very hard thing for her as she is a victim of abuse, saying that she wants to stay with Yako. The explanation of the hairpin was so devastating. I continue to passionately dislike Reito. Am I supposed to care about him? I don’t. I don’t know anything about Noragami but I do agree that this series is for fans of My Happy Marriage, as Kodansha advertised it to be that’s how I found it and I couldn’t be happier with it.
Once the fiancée of the Byakurenji family, Nanao is now considered tainted after being attacked by an ayakashi. She is shunned and abused until Yako, head of another family, decides to take her for his bride. Yako's motives are unclear but for Nanao this is a way out.
The art is beautiful and it doesn't shy away from depicting the scars Nanao carries. There is a fair bit of world building. At first it seemed as if the romance may be progressing too quickly for my liking, but it seems more transactional at this point and I imagine actual romance will come later down the line. It's definitely an interesting start and I look forward to where this story is headed.
I WANT THIS TO BE TURNED INTO AN ANIME 😭 I'm telling you I LOVE how protective he is of her and that she's slowly finding her voice. OBSESSED WITH THIS SERIES ❤️ CANT WAIT FOR VOL 3 💖
After spending so many years being used and abused on top of being an outcast abandoned by even her own parents, Nanao still feels like her new life is a dream that can end at any time. However, she’s slowly learning that there’s an entire world out there who won’t consider her a tainted and impure person. It will be a long road to recovering for Nanao, but she’s learning that she has more in common with Yako than she expected. As the man known as the Tsubaki Demon, Yako knows what it’s like to have even your own family look at you in disgust. They will face their past as they try to run full speed ahead toward a better future. It’s just a question of whether or not that is something they will do together.
I absolutely loved the first volume, so you have no idea how excited I was when I learned that the second volume was out already. We pick up right where we left off and learn how deep Nanao’s scars truly run. I feel so bad for her, and I’m so happy to watch her slowly discover that she’s worthy. We’re also learning more about Yako and his past, and how he has more in common with Nanao than even he realized. It’s really great to see them slowly get to know each other and slowly fall in love during the process.
I’m also really excited to learn more about the supporting characters and see their friendships in action. Plus, we’re learning more about Nanao’s cousin and how deep her jealousy runs, so it’s also nice to see that karma is knocking on her door. Reito isn’t an ounce better than his wife, so I think they deserve each other. There’s so much going on that I can’t say because they’re spoilers, but phew. It looks like everyone from Nanao’s past is about to have a lot of in-fighting.
All in all, this was another amazing read and I can’t wait for the next volume. There are so many layers to this story that I truly cannot recommend it enough.
This series strikes a chord with me personally. I can relate to the struggle of being perceived as this dastardly thing but damn to live as a damsel who is adored by a man who will sacrifice everything to protect his love although why he loves her I don't know ???? What is this relationship type because I struggle with the more mainstream tropes but this? I will devour. I shall absolutely devour any future books released too I imagine.
on the one hand I feel terrible for the main character. The character development 👏 The relationship 🥰 If I'm being honest this was a book i could put myself into the universe of and let go of some deep rooted trauma and be a okay with it.
Not that demons and such are real but this book was liberating in a weird way for me. The art is brilliant and the cover magnificent. I like the stoic type I see.

It's still somewhat rushed and fast-paced, but there's more tension and drama in this volume than in the previous one. Plus it tackles more of her trauma.
I feel like I'm just super super excited for this manga series and thus I'm not properly judging it, because I see its flaws but I'm way into it to care!
okay better than the last volume for sure. the drama is DRAMA-ING and it leads to a super emotional cathartic reunion between nanao and yako. the kiss was AHHHHHH!!!!!! and the explanation for the hair pin was so sad...

I feel like this concept is so common hurt abused woman by her group of people reduced via a marriage contract by a man of a different group. This is one of my favorites of these themes. I like the vampire angle and she is already standing up for herself some.
This so My Happy Marriage meets Something's a writing with Us (a little bit). I love it. Great art and backgrounds, and then white space when the scene demands it. This volume has several emotional moments and we see some growth and scheming. I'm enjoying the ride.
I get that this is someone’s fantasy—just not mine. Far too much of the worth of the female characters here seems rooted in the male affection they can attain—and I don’t foresee this story saying anything particularly interesting about that~
4 stars I don't know where this is going with the people from the past and how they are still obsessed with someone who they regularly beat and despised. Like, she is gone, celebrate. The transfer of the scapegoat makes sense from the rest of the family, but really weak descriptions and motivations of the two main white-haired people with elements that don't really make sense. Otherwise, great
