Andy McNab joined the infantry in 1976 as a boy soldier. In 1984 he was badged as a member of 22 SAS Regiment. He served in B Squadron 22 SAS for ten years and worked on both covert and overt special operations worldwide, including anti-terrorist and anti-drug operations in the Middle and Far East, South and Central America and Northern Ireland.

Trained as a specialist in counter terrorism, prime target elimination, demolitions, weapons and tactics, covert surveillance and information gathering in hostile environments, and VIP protection, McNab worked on cooperative operations with police forces, prison services, anti-drug forces and western backed guerrilla movements as well as on conventional special operations. In Northern Ireland he spent two years working as an undercover operator with 14th Intelligence Group, going on to become an instructor.

McNab also worked as an instructor on the SAS selection and training team and instructed foreign special forces in counter terrorism, hostage rescue and survival training.

Andy McNab has written about his experiences in the SAS in two bestselling books, Bravo Two Zero (1993) and Immediate Action (1995). Bravo Two Zero is the highest selling war book of all time and has sold over 1.7 million copies in the UK. To date it has been published in 17 countries and translated into 16 languages. The CD spoken word version of Bravo Two Zero, narrated by McNab, sold over 60,000 copies and earned a silver disc. The BBC's film of Bravo Two Zero, starring Sean Bean, was shown on primetime BBC 1 television in 1999 and released on DVD in 2000.

Immediate Action, McNab's autobiography, spent 18 weeks at the top of the bestseller lists following the lifting on an ex-parte injunction granted to the Ministry of Defence in September 1995. To date, Immediate Action has now sold over 1.4 million copies in the UK.

McNab is the author of seven fast action thrillers, highly acclaimed for their authenticity and all Sunday Times bestsellers. Published in 1997, Remote Control was hailed as the most authentic thriller ever written and has sold over half a million copies in the UK. McNab's subsequent thrillers, Crisis Four, Firewall, Last Light , Liberation Day , Dark Winter , Deep Black and Aggressor have all gone on to sell equally well. The central character in all the books is Nick Stone, a tough ex-SAS operative working as a 'K' on deniable operations for British Intelligence.

McNab's fiction draws extensively on his experiences and knowledge of Special Forces soldiering. He has been officially registered by Neilsen Bookscan as the bestselling British thriller writer of the last year.

It's like a deadly game of hide and seek
Liam Scott joined the recede platoon, and they are going to Somalia .
His mission is to get information from behind the enemy .
And it is going to be hard for him cause he is a new recruit but
Since he is a new recruit he's going to learn a lot from this mission.
My favourite character is Liam Scott cause he is like a fearless soldier
I believe u can call him RAMBO.
I chose this book because I'm into shooting books and war books
I learnt that it is hard too go to war and that you will need to work hard .

Read this in one sitting - not a long book, let’s be fair. Good pace, plenty of action, pretty standard characters, nothing too memorable. This isn’t going to be on anyone’s all time favourite list but hey, it set out to be a short, fun read, and it delivered just that, so bravo.

The new enemy is a somewhat short book. It has a clear straight forward storyline with stereotypical characters. Having said that, it was fast paced and action packet. A bit like your run of the mill action movie. It was entertaining, which leads to three stars.

Authentic, no unnecessary descriptions, all action, better than later escapades by Stone as a private mercenary

That was very enjoyable. For me this series of books is getting better as they go along. This time we have a change in War theatre from Afghanistan to Somalia/Kenya for affiliates of Al Quaeda called Al Shabaab.

It was well written and very enjoyable. However, one small thing for me. This book is formally a YA novel - aimed at teenagers, but there is very graphic extreme violence including executions and tortures which I would deem unsuitable for younger readers or those of a sensitive nature. The author has done a brilliant job in the realism and it was disturbing in places - perhaps a little too much for a YA novel! Otherwise it was great and the series is going from strength to strength and I'm looking forward to Liam's next adventure!

Firstly thanks to Goodreads first reads for a copy of this book.
I would not normally read ya and to be honest this was not the book for me, that said the story has a good plot line and is well written and thanks to the author you get feel of the authenticity of the story and scenes which take place. This will appeal to many who are looking for an adventure story of army life and the heroic actions of the soldiers within the book

I received this book through Goodreeds Firstreads.

I got this book and I must admit it's slightly out of sync with a lot of books I normally read but I embraced it and read it anyway and I was pleasantly surprised. I genuinely enjoyed this book and i managed to fly through it. It was a good story, with a good pace and good writing.

An amazing end to the Liam Scott trilogy. I was so into this book because there was always either action or suspense that made me want to read on to find out what was going to happen throughout Liam's journey in Kenya. Andy is a brilliant writer and his experiences make reading about the characters feel so much more real, knowing that there is a little bit of real-life experience in every book.

The latest instalment in Liam Scott's experiences as a new(ish) recruit to the British army. This time he is in Kenya and must face Al-Shabaab. I think this book was longer than the previous ones and has a good story that kept me interested.
