Solomon Tate lives by one rule—loyalty over everything—and leads by example.
Solomon takes care of his people. All he expects in return is for everyone on his team to remain solid. Anyone who refuses to show loyalty no longer earns his favor, and family is not exempt.
Kaori Randall embraces one love and be loved. She is raised by parents and grandparents, who are examples of happy, healthy relationships. Kaori has high expectations when it comes to her own happiness, which makes the failure of her own love life a huge disappointment.
Instead of allowing herself to wallow in disappointment, Kaori refocuses her efforts on school and work. She hasn't given up on love but refuses to set herself up for failure. However, an encounter with a man who defies the exception of everything she believes she wants and deserves once again has Kaori hopeful.
Her heart begins to explore the idea that she just might find her one. Unfortunately, the risk feels greater than the reward because she's not positive she'll remain standing through all the chaos and destruction once the smoke clears.

Listen, I know we’ve all played the fool once or twice behind a lyin’ azz ninja but, Kaori deserves an Oscar and a gold medal because sis was just plain stupid. Kaori and Jamal have been together since she was 19 and he’s been cheating almost from the start of their relationship. It’s been six years of lying, cheating, blatant disrespect, a baby she didn’t give birth to, and multiple arrests because, she was handin’ out equal opportunity azz whoopins’ to Jamal and all of his side chics. As if that weren’t bad enough, Kaori is runnin’ behind this fool actin’ all kinds of out of character while takin’ care of Jamal’s broke azz. This ninja doesn't even have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of but, that was her boo and she was gon’ stick beside him. It finally took some tough love from Kaori’s grandmother and for her mama to cut her off for her to find her common sense and self-worth. Well, that and catchin’ Jamal cheating AGAIN. Girlfriend is over men, love, and relationships so Kaori enrolls back in dental school to finish her last year and finally get her white coat.
Smoke is on a mission to get his brother out of jail. Noah has been locked up on some trumped up robbery charges and he’s the only person who believes in him. It’s family over everything and Solomon Sr. definitely wants all the smoke when it comes to his loved ones. While paying for his brother’s appeal attorney, he’s also building a marijuana empire, tryin’ to spend quality time with his son, and avoid his ratchet azz baby mama at all costs. When Smoke takes his son to a dentist appointment, he’s instantly enamored with the dental hygienist assigned to Solo. After a series of run-ins, a one-night stand that turned into two, and a surprise development, these two find themselves in a precarious situation. All the Smoke was a really cute story. I absolutely fell in love with Smoke. He was a great dad and a phenomenal brother. Even when his parents turned their back on Noah, his loyalty and love never wavered. He really was his brother’s keeper. I can’t wait for Noah’s story. I’m dyin’ to know what Smoke heard the Bishop say when he was ear hustlin’ on his parent's argument. A good time is always had when we visit Crescent Falls and, this book was no exception.
When Kaori said that Smoke was “Mr. Make It Happen,” I couldn’t have agreed more. That man was pressure - he had the tenacity and relentless determination to make anything happen! Smoke was the type of man who stood ten toes down behind his loved ones. He didn’t mind getting his hands dirty. However, under that rugged demeanor was the best father, brother, and lover. He was the definition of standing on business, and his parents experienced that firsthand. As I continued to read, I kept thinking of “sometimes you gotta pop out and show n**gas” 😩🙌🏾
Kaori’s character was so relatable. She was so in love with a no-good man that she put her studies to be a dentist to the side. Now, I have never been *that* in love that I would abandon my dreams, but I get it. I think. 😂nonetheless, Jamal showed his behind one last time, and Kaori finally gained the courage to leave him for good.
Smoke and Kaori’s first encounter was sweet and innocent; however, Smoke made it clear that he liked her. And when they finally crossed the line, there was no turning back! They fell in love fast, but it worked for them. Their cute banter, jokes, and dates were a nice touch to the story. As with any T’Lyn story, there was so much drama. I was turning my Kindle pages so fast because I couldn’t believe the audacity - between Smoke’s parents and Brianna, I wanted to fight them all. I adored the ending, and I hope there is more from this crew. Ps, This is a Soloman Smoke Tate Stan account. 😍😮💨
Unexpected and timely love, I enjoyed Kaori and Solomon’s/Smoke story! Favorite quote “I just got out of a relationship,” she responded. “It wasn’t the best…” “Let me show you the best then, baby. Let me show you how you deserve to be treated.” My hand traveled to her flat stomach. “I want to be the man both of you deserve.”
Let me show you the best baby and Smoke did just that 👏🏾❤️🫶🏾🥰
2.75⭐️/🌶️🌶️This book wasn’t as good as the other books that I’ve read by this author, but it was OK. I liked the MMC and FMC should’ve had more worth for themselves from the beginning of the book, but I didn’t really think that they had that much of a chemistry.
I didn’t read this in the right order, but honestly? It didn’t even matter. I still caught all the connections to The Blueprint to Love and filled in the missing pieces just fine. All the Smoke delivered exactly what the title promised—feelings, mess, and intensity. I had way too much fun with this one, and now I’m ready for whatever T’Lyn throws next 😮🔥👏🏾
There was a lot going on here. some of it made no sense.
I didn't like Kaori. I tried to extend her some grace but she was an idiot. Her parents paid for everything. All they asked was for her to finish school. But what does Kaori do, drop out to chase behind her cheating boyfriend. Again another woman chasing behind a man who doesn't deserve to even look at her. Just to take him back. She also has been arrested multiple times because of him. He also told her to get an abortion, but has a baby with another woman. Kaori still stays with this man. She drops out of pharmacy school because he told her to.
Her parents are like god's to the street game. Yet their child is chasing a fuck boy. Even after Jamal is told by Kaori's mother she would kill him (red dot on his chest and everything) HE STILL SHOWS UP TO TRY AND TALK TO KAORI.
Smoke ain't no better. His baby mama is on only fans, have parties at her home, sleeping around. The baby mother (I think her name was Briana) is trash. But instead of Smoke getting custody of his 5 year old son, he continues to leave his son with the mother. So of course Briana does the most and pops up to act a fool. oh and Briana is also sleeping with Smoke's best friend. Briana also gets threatened by Kaori's mother (who is royalty in the streets). But she still pops up to threaten Kaori. lmaooooooooooooooo. Listen if Kaori's parents were so gangsta they would have put Jamal and Briana in the dirt.
His parents are Pastor and fist lady. But they are trash also.
So Smoke is trying to get his brother (Noah) out of prison, chasing behind Kaori, cursing Briana out multiple times and his best friend is sleeping with his baby mother.
But because I'm nosy I'm going to read Noah's book. lol don't judge me.
Solomon and Kaori were IT! I love visiting Crescent Falls because it’s always a time! Those two were a match from the beginning and even with bumps in road I knew they’d make it. KK needed a real man and not Jamal’s manipulative, unfaithful behind. Smoke needed anyone except his crazy babymomma. His parents were terrible people, but I def think they had something to do with what happened to Noah. Just not right all. Oh and Scoot really ticked me off. Like dude really. I had already peeped it though. KK’s family was everything even with the circumstances they faced.
I can’t wait for Noah’s story to drop. I may have to clear my calendar for that one!
I loved this story. Kaori drive me a little crazy but I’m glad she found her person. Smoke was out here taking care of his son and doing all could to free his brother. Smoke and Noah had to have the most trifling and selfish parents smh. I can’t wait to hear what they have to tell Noah though. Bino and Mo were so funny and made for one another. I knew Scoot was the one on BS and fell for the okie doke smh. It’s going to take a minute but hopefully the trust can be rebuilt and the brotherhood will be back. KK parents, granny and godparents were the truth and I love that for everyone involved to be surrounded by love and loyalty. You did your big one sis, amazing job 💙
Smoke is our local weed plug who is street and tad bit unhinged and is the son of a Bishop. A Bishop and First Lady that is being real shady to their sons. 🧐
KK is on her way to become a dentist and had given her loyalty so a man that was soooo undeserving. To the point that he’s actually bringing her down. She is the daughter of hood legends K Dot and Ice.
When KK and Smoke first meet, Smoke is istantly in love whereas KK isn’t as open due just getting out a toxic relationship. After a couple hook ups, KK ends up hurting the hell out of Smokes feelings (hilarious) but unbeknownst to them, that wasn’t the end for them.
I really loved this story. I felt bad for Smoke because my man was getting hurt left and right. So much that I stated feeling stressed for him.😅 KK’s parents were tired of her making bad decisions to chase after someone who is wrong for her, so they cut her off to help straighten her up. But as they say, trouble don’t last always and Smoke and KK help each others in ways they didn’t see coming.
I always love reading CF stories. I’ve become so familiar with people and places that it almost seems real. Mase and Miles made a couple of appearances and people were always listening to Sire. Hung out at Black Diamonds. Mannn, I need me a plate from Phat Fish, fr. That food always sounds so good!🤣 Definitely give this a read!
I was about to write a few names of the characters which irritated my soul and quickly stopped because there were way TOO many people who just annoyed me in this book, a bit of an over kill on how unlikable some of these characters were. But it gave the story depth and an endless plot of just pure hate for most of the characters.
Solomon “Smoke” Tate & Kaori "KK" Randall were too cute!
These young adults were just trying to figure life out.
Smoke told Kaori who he was from day one.
🫢 When he said: “Don’t look at me like that, baby,” he said, causing me to tear my eyes from the blunt in his hand. “I fuck real good and tap my gun on windows, love.”
Lol, so said, so done. He stood on that on both accounts!
Smoke was a single dad trying to co-parent with his toxic baby momma. Had a horrible relationship with his parents. The only healthy relationships were wìth his best friends, big brother and son. If he understands nothing else he understands loyalty which is why he can not deal with his parents. However, none of that was a handicap when it came to him caring for Kaori. That man came correct and stood on business behind her.
Kaori was coming from that toxic relationship, Smoke said, "Let me show you what healthy looks like" and did that!
I look forward to Noah's story! I am so over their parents.
I appreciated how realistic the characters came off. They had hardships and budgets like everyone else (although somehow Ice and them could still afford 24/7 snipper coverage).
Nothing warms my heart more than when a man falls first. And Solomon fell fast and hard for Kaori the moment he saw her. Kaori tried to play like their situation was only physical. While Solomon's over here in this feelings about her.Once Kaori realized she deserved more than a cheating deadbeat and that Solomon was the real deal, she really jumped headfirst into the relationship . Solomon's loyalty to his brother and his determination to him was beautiful. His love for his son was cute as hell. And if you give me an unexpected pregnancy (in a book) I'm going to eat it up every time.
Solomon was definitely giving BDE to me. He did not play about KK from the time he saw her in the movie theater and her mam was grabbing her to her being in the car with her ex. I loved how Solomon did shut down and assume the worst when he caught KK in the car with her ex Jamal. I also loved how he didn’t cut his best friend off for life after he slept with his baby mama Bri. Solomon didn’t play but he had his emotions in control in situations where he could have lost them and let hell break loose. I look forward to what Bishop needs to tell Noah.

Smoke have nothing but BDE!!!! I love his crazy hostile self. I’m ready for big bro book cause I know it’s about to go down. I wanna know the whole back story, about the parents, did the dad when the election…whew I got so many questions. Come on through sis
T'Lyn bought all the smoke. The instant attraction Smoke had for KK was too cute. It was like this hard ass man had googly eyes from the start. When she put that man out and told him I called you an iDrive...I hollered and he felt some type of way, used! This was a good book all around except for a few things I didn't like - KK almost ruining her life behind Jamal trifling behind and the ending seemed a little rushed. Solo was the cutest little guy. All in all a recommended read!💋
Smokeeee immediately added to my long list of book boyfriends. I just love a good rough nigga but still sweet at the same time. I loved how he did not play about Solo. And shut things down with his baby mama.
Solomon and Kaori stumble into each other when she's had enough love drama to save her life, and he fears he'll never find the loyalty and family he's really looking for. Can they give each other the benefit of the doubt?
Okay, so Smoke wanted all the Smoke. With everyone. All the time. First, I loved the way he loved his brother and the way he never stopped calling his parents to the carpet. I love that he stood up for himself, his son and his peace. The relationship with his son's mother was an iffy one for me--I understood his stance, but it still made me sad, lol. Kaori was a wild one, always on go and I loved that she got herself right and decided to live her life for herself.
Smoke and KK clashed at first, and their back and forth made me wonder if it would balance, but it did. Their love was nice to see and experience. they were sexy, and into one another, but still holding strong to the things that were important to them.
I will say that Smoke's mouth was a tad too disrespectful and got to be a little too much for me after a while and I cringed reading some of it. I wish it had been toned down just a little. But still a great story.
I know a lot of people enjoyed this one, but it wasn’t it for me. The MCs were both too young and immature. Although the MMC was worse, and just when I thought big bro, Noah would help him turn a new leaf. It never happened.
Because there was no closure, rather more secrets with their parents. I’m assuming this plot will conclude later in the series.
Now Noah… Noah’s story is the one I can’t wait to read. Did I read that correctly, is he a virgin? That will make this even better. Plus he seems to be more mature than Smoke.
It was a good book. Solomon was a great man and I loved him being a great father, brother, friend, and boyfriend. Kaori and him had great chemistry and although she was a mess sometimes she made him happy it was great to see the happy ending for them.
Star level: 4.5 stars Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Trope: black love, he falls first, single dad, OWD, OMS, surprise baby, cheating Trigger warnings: drugs, guns, violence Fav quotes: “Don’t look at me like that, baby,” he said, causing me to tear my eyes from the blunt in his hand. “I fuck real good and tap my gun on windows, love” “I didn’t know where that last part came from, but I did want her to know that. She had a nigga’s nose wide open since the first time I laid my eyes on her little ass, so I wanted her to know the ball was legit in her court and this shit with us would go however she wanted it to.” “Unexpected blessings are God’s way of demonstrating His love for you. He commands us to bear each other’s burdens. We’re told to encourage one another and build each other up.” About the book: I ate this book right up now I did have to take a break to study for my NCLEX but other than that I did not want to put this book down. Solomon aka Smoke is the definition of F around and find out. He’s loyal to those who are loyal to him but he also had a short fuse on him. Currently dealing with his over dramatic baby mama he wasn’t even thinking about settling. Then we have Kaori who is dealing with a downhill relationship with the no go boyfriend who doesn’t know how to keep it in his pant. It’s wasn’t one or two times the was catching him over and over and she whoop both parties every time he even had a baby on her. I’m glad the last time was definitely the last time because he definitely played in her face then lied to meet up with the girl. Jamal just wanted to control her and acted like he was big and bad until he met Smoke. Smoke and Kaori relationship started off as a situationship nothing major but everyone around then could see that it was more than what they were talking. I ain’t gonna lie Smoke was a little crazy and delulu when it came to Koria but I loved it. All the side characters made the story funnier now it’s two people I wouldn’t forgive but that’s just me. Just watching Smoke and Koria love story blossom was everything he showed her he is not like the rest and how the deserved to be treated it and she showed him it’s okay for a gangster to love and love hard. I can’t wait to see how his brother love story will go now that he is out of jail.
4.5 ⭐️. I love when he hood but falls first. From the first time Solomon Sr aka Smoke laid eyes on Kaori aka KK at the dentist office he was in love. It only helped that Solo felt the same. At first KK was feeling the sparks but had dumbass Jamal hanging on her coattail. When I tell you that man had me fuming. Had kaori outside embarrassing herself. She spent too long spending the block with him but I understand how you can feel trapped when you’re in love. The last time she gave him the mink mink I was so happy she finally decided to move on and move on she did. Daddy Smoke was that man. I know his feelings were hurt when kk hit him when the “ I ordered you a car” after she laid it on him but the $40 was diabolical lol. She had my man in his feelings. When everything started working out for them here come Bri and Jamal tryna mess it up. Neither one of them could take no for an answer. Bri needed an ass whooping. Jamal got caught lackin and still didn’t learn his lesson. Now Bri his best friend?! Was it that serious. Given you were a whole pedo. You were 18 chasing a lil 14 year old boy. Under the jail. Scoot how you let her manipulate you into that nonsense. I totally agree with smoke cuz if you can be sneaky about that then I gotta worry about you always being on the up and up. Never found out if she was actually pregnant but I doubt it. Funniest part in all this was the girls jumping smoke in the club cuz he tried to get froggy with Kaori. Her girls were ready lol. Smoke ended up being an attentive romantic very protective of his family. Bishop and Lady Tate scandalous. Overall loved it. Hea. Can’t wait for Noah’s book cuz that boy been through it and so forgiving.
