No Stress Space Express #2

Spacebound and Down: A Cozy, Low-Stakes, Slice-of-Life Sci-fi Adventure

Strapped for cash, but full of laughs…

Heya, friend. Rusty here. Believe it or not, me and Mike swapped our eighteen-wheeler for a spaceship. And she's a real beauty… if you like fixer-uppers. The old girl's got landing gear that squeals like a cat playin' violin, plumbing like a Las Vegas fountain show, and more loose screws than a nuthouse. But to us, she's perfect. A diamond in the rough, ready to be polished up with some elbow grease and TLC. And maybe a few prayers to Saint MacGyver.

Meanwhile, me and Piper are planning our honeymoon, searching for the galaxy's most romantic vacation spots on the galaxy's least romantic budget. We'll be runnin' on fumes till our business gets going, but my new wife can turn anything into an adventure. If you don't believe me, you've never seen her cook in zero-G.

With Mike and Jenna by our side, we're building more than a ship—we're building ourselves a home, and a future, one rusty bolt at a time. I'm tellin' ya, the No Stress Space Express is gonna take trucking to new heights… just as soon as we get her off the ground.

No Stress Space Express is a series about finding your true family, told with the common-sense wisdom of Jerry Boyd's Bob and Nikki series (Bob's Saucer Repair), and the low-stakes world building of Travis Baldree's Legends & Lattes. Join Rusty and his crew for a heart-warming, laugh-out-loud adventure with no tension, and no drama. Just good clean fun, great friendships, and a little romance too.

More Southern

Fun, tasty, and reminds me of a couple favorite series. Good with a beach and a beer or a campsite and bourbon I think.

Back for more laid-back fun!

Author Jack Bodett returns for the second book in his “No Stress Space Express” series, the ongoing story of the day-to-day lives of Rusty Ray Dixon and Mike Harlan, two carefree Earth-born truckers who get accidentally abducted onto a massive extraterrestrial mothership ... and, with no hope of ever getting home, decide to just roll with it.

In the first book, Rusty and Mike met two Martians ladies, Piper Skyflare and Jenna Moondrift, who were stuck in the same situation. Together, they proceeded to make a comfortable life for themselves. In fact, the foursome got along so well, Rusty and Piper ended up getting married!

Now, in “Spacebound and Down: A Cozy, Low-Stakes, Slice-of-Life Sci-fi Adventure,” we follow along as newlyweds Rusty & Piper, along with Mike and Jenna, set about renovating a gift they received from all their alien friends: Their very own transport ship! No more making do with handyman-style repair jobs around the mothership — Rusty and Mike can return to hauling freight, only instead of driving state-to-state, they and their two Martian shipmates will be flying planet-to-planet. That is, they will when they get their fixer-upper ship ... well, fixed up.

As with the first book, “Spacebound and Down” lives up to its subtitle, with the casual plot focusing on the character interactions in virtually stress-free situations. In fact, the first half of the book could almost be summarized as “The Quest for Pizza!” That, plus Rusty & Piper trying to figure out how they can afford to take the honeymoon of their dreams.

Also like the first book, however, external forces eventually draw our heroes’ attention, this time in the form of a major health crisis on the planet Haffrin. No more piddlin’ around with their ship — the No Stress Space Express goes to work!

If you enjoyed the first book, rest assured that the second offers more of the same and can be boiled down in much the same way: A fun, funny, easy read. Just sit back, relax, and find out what our playful foursome get up to next.

No Bad Guys

What I enjoyed most about this fantasy is that there are no bad people. None! No killing, no cheating, no bad guys at all. It's just pure fun. It sounds more like a couple of old guys, friends forever, dreaming up a fantasy of sexy girls from Mars and having a good time together.

Fun humorous book continuing the adventures of the No Stress Space Express quartet where real men are from Earth and real women are from Mars. Do not look for universe saving here as this is a continuing story of ordinary people interacting with each other and their alien friends. This is ordinary life as lived on a extra-large flying saucer which travels the galaxies. Fun Books.

Book 2 in the series

Another very pleasant reading experience. Rusty and his friends meet some new people, make some repairs to their ship, and get a chance to help a planet full of people with a major medical problem. A great story.

Bodett does it again!

As much as I enjoyed the first book, the second was even more fun. Can’t wait to see what he has cooked up for this crew next.
