“Holy feminine rage” are my first thoughts about this story.
This is my first book/story by C.M. Guidroz and I’m not disappointed in the slightest.
She paints a clear, grotesque picture of the torture these men have to endure. Her imagery and descriptions will have your stomach churning but you just can’t look away. It’s one of those thiings where you’re absolutely disgusted but you also smile, thinking “they deserved this”, because they do.
This was a short read at only 53 pages but it packed such a punch, I’m going to be thinking about it for weeks, if not for a lifetime. C.M. Guidroz did a phenomenal job with this in such a short amount of pages. If you enjoy feminine rage and seeing men get what they deserve, I highly recommend this one.

3.5 stars. This was a very promising concept accompanied by a strong writing style and had some really great, vivid visuals of this Red Womb hellscape. I noticed that there were a lot of notes taken from other horror movies and stories, without a ton of actual creativity here. Just sort of reorganized things that have already been done. And, due to its brevity, I felt like there were a lot of consistency issues and a general lack of context for all of these fiendish situations that the male victims found themselves in. It put itself into a situation where a good plot felt secondary to the violence which, for the most part, is never a good creative direction. And there were quite a few instances of sexual content which also felt very out of place for the most part. I didn't think this was a bad horror experience, but there were just a lot of barriers that kept me from enjoying it as much as I should have. I feel like this needed to be a lot longer and more fleshed out or kept at its current length with less plot points to juggle.

I had high hopes for this one, especially after reading the trigger warnings section which promised me female rage and body horror, two of my favourite things. What I got was some kind of a revenge fantasy that, for the most part, wasn’t really effective for me. Sure, the imagery was kind of striking and there were some good bits of gore but there was no plot per se.

If you’re in the market for terrible things happening to terrible people for change and you want it done quick and bloody, this one might be for you.

I've seen this idea and heard it so many times on splatterpunk book spaces already but I haven't seen a book that actually like writes it. It is a simple idea of when horrible men die, they get sent to a special and unique place in hell just for them that is filled with their victims taking their revenge on them for eternity, torturing and torturing these men in hell as worse as what the men did to them when they were alive. Yes this is extremely gory and the entire thing is just men getting tortured but its short nature (53 pages) is enough so that it doesn't repeat itself too much. Spiders and cannibalism are main themes in here are ofcourse revenge rape. At least the women got heir revenge on the men that made them suffer in living and mate them atone for all their sins and suffer in eternal damnation. Peak feminine rage literature. The queen of the hellscape is like...QUEEN 👑 💅💅💅💅💅, because of how ruthless and cool she acts while torturing these men and just 😚👌 that's why you don't do these things so that you wont suffer in hell by your victims

Well, that definitely was quite a read! Red Womb is everything that I love in a disturbing splatterpunk. It has extreme violence, plenty of body horror, disgusting imagery, and so much more. It had me uncomfortably squirm multiple times and I absolutely love it for that.

With only 53 pages, Red Womb was an incredibly fast and short read. I would read the living daylight out of a longer book about this world. Red Womb goes directly into my favourites.

Well what can I say...that was definitely one hell of a read.
Very feral, disgusting and vile.
You need a strong stomach for this one and it WILL offend a lot of people.
Some scenes were shocking and brutal and the women in the Red Womb held no remorse.
Well written...but a little farfetched and mythological sometimes so I had to drop a star for that.

Red womb is about men who spend thier lives tormenting women and now it is finally their turn to be tormented, after they die they go to hell but it’s not just fire and brimstone is them getting tortured by the same women they hurt.

This was a fun and quick read. Loved all the gore, and was such a good revenge story.

Regulated by the Mother and her constituents, Maddox, Paul and Lance—now dead—find themselves trapped and at the mercy of their past sins.

That barn scene though. . . Very well done 👏

The descriptions were grotesque, the gore was flowing and the feminine rage was seething! I loved the way Guidroz weaved her own creative depictions of this realm—much like its complexion, it made my skin crawl. Red Womb is a quick, bloody, entertaining frolic through a crimson field of bodies and viscera. Give me more. . . Right the fuck now.

i would have read a full length novel of this??? SLAY QUEEN BADDIE OF HELL MAKES TERRIBLE MEN ATONE FOR THEIR SINS!!! I AM SAT!! THAT WAS HOT!

If there’s such a thing as Splatterpunk fantasy, this book definitely nails it.
Red Womb takes you to another realm, where certain men pay for all the pain they caused while they were alive and leading the Eternal Punishment is Mother, a demon with a devious mind and a taste for the grotesque.

This book serves up female rage and revenge, with a very creative take on the afterlife. And the visuals are just chef’s kiss.
You get all the gore and nastiness, with scenes that reminded me of Hellraiser or The Black Farm.
My only complaint is that it’s too short. At just 53 pages, I wanted to dive even deeper into this world.
Thankfully, I don’t have to wait long. The sequel, Genesis of Mother, is coming out in May, and I can’t wait to read it.

Fun quick read! It conjured up some pretty gruesome images, but I did find the vocab a bit repetitive. I love the concept though, I like to think that there is something along these lines waiting for those who deserve it!!

I finished this book in one sitting on KU, making me a little queasy on a couple pages. Quick bite sized grotesque body horror/ animal horror which appeals to me as an SA survivor. Mother has done more in the name of justice than US law. I’m looking forward to reading more of this author.

Maddox has just had his death sentence carried out. He thinks that this is the end, that there’s nothing more to come.

He could not be more wrong.

For he goes from being in the chair, needle in arm, poison collapsing his capillaries… to falling directly into the Red Womb.

The Red Womb is a realm of hell designed specifically for the eternal torture of men who have abused women and children. It takes all of the pain and turmoil these men have inflicted in their lives, and turns it back on them tenfold.

A demon by the name of Mother is the enforcer of the Red Womb, and boy… does she have some unique ideas.

Can’t go much more into this without spoiling the story, as it’s only about 50 pages long, but if you’re looking for a short, brutal, good for her revenge story, this is definitely a solid option.

After absolutely loving the unhinged novella Bittersweet Chocolate, I was eager to dive into Guidroz’s latest work, Red Womb! This novella takes you into a hellish realm born from female rage and the suffering inflicted by men who have taken women’s lives. It’s a brutal and haunting vision of vengeance that was disgusting, disturbing, and an absolute blast!

This is a quick read that I finished in about half an hour, so I won’t spoil much. The concept of “Mother” was fantastic, and the vivid descriptions of this fleshy, blood-rain-soaked realm were grotesquely beautiful in their disturbing detail. There are some scenes so vile they made my stomach turn a few times, but that’s to be expected with Guidroz’s extreme horror. My only issue was that it ended too soon, perhaps a bit too abruptly for my liking.

I should also note that the author includes a “Insect horror” trigger warning. When I saw this, I almost returned the book to KU (I can’t handle bug horror), but I decided to push through. Turns out, it’s not insects—it’s arachnids. I know many people can’t read about spiders, so I wanted to give a heads-up as they are depicted in a truly creepy and disturbing way.

Overall, it’s a fun and disgustingly addictive read that I’d recommend to fans of extreme horror and themes of feminine rage.

Loved this!

What better time to read a feminine rage story than Women In Horror Month.
"You see, the Red Womb is a realm in Hell. A realm born from the pain and rage of women who endured the brutality of men."

An absolutely vile and disturbing world where predatory men get what they deserve. A world where Mother rules and there is no mercy to be had.

"Her form is absolute perfection and absolute terror."

A quick read that is a brutal nightmare of retribution. Vivid and visceral, Guidroz paints a picture that isn't for the faint of heart.

I always did wonder what happens to a sadistic man who hurts a woman just because he can.
My thoughts have been answered.
And I can only hope this is actually what happens.
A realm of Hell brought forth purely because of women's rage.

CM Guidroz has a way with words that make you feel like a front row spectator.

Short, bloody, and brutal. But the brutality is every bit deserved, and doesn’t make you feel any pity for them at all. Definitely a good extreme horror short read

Ohhhhh buckle up cuz I have SO much to say about this.

I came across this book, read the blurb and found out that it was a female rage book where women take revenge and men are suffering and I was SAT like YES GIVE IT TO ME.

That to say I really enjoyed the first half but after that, near the end of the book I started to get annoyed or irritated really, by how some things still had misogyny in this “female rage” book.

First of all when men were punished in the book, they had to give birth to Hell’s monsters. Which by the way is so disgusting to use as a form of torture or punishment for men. Because what it really indicates then is that pregnancy or art/act of giving birth is something of a torture or punishment. Meanwhile pregnancy is literally the most beautiful thing, it’s literally to create life which only women can do. It’s one thing that NO ONE can take from us. And yes I know that pregnancy is extremely hard, and giving birth is literally risking your life but have you ever heard the mothers when they say that they saw their child and forgot about the pain they went through. That’s not to say that their pain was all nothing and just fuss. But look at the beauty of it. Women go through this life and death situation but still smile when they see their child. Yes pregnancy is scary but it is not a form of torture when chosen personally. Yes of course pregnancy can be forced too and my heart breaks for those women but you cannot for one second think that creating life is bad. It’s those who force these are bad, remember it’s people not the act. Women’s bodies are literally magical. We can literally create a life within ourselves. I can never stress it enough. So this pregnancy or giving birth as a form of torture for men was in my opinion a little misogynistic. Instead punishments could have been alternatives of giving birth, like being burned alive.
(Idk if I was clear in explaining my point but u get it right?) anyways

My next point is shifting the blame.
“God? Oh, Maddox... he won’t help you here. He’s far too busy riding Satan’s cock to answer the cries of his children." - supervisor of hell.
Now this doesn’t sit right with me either. People are so quick to blame god for everything that HUMANS do. Humans literally have free will, it’s not like God is controlling your behaviour, this is literally another form of victim blaming. Humans aren’t critiqued enough for the crimes they do, because people like to blame God for every bad thing happening in the world. This averts the attention from the real perpetrators and forces focus on things that are not even relevant.

And the scene where men are getting impregnated seems more like torture porn rather than just… torture. I am so disappointed like what do you even mean!? I was in for some real torture where men suffer from the consequences of their bad deeds and sins, that would make me puke or shit but after reading the book it just made me roll my eyes in annoyance.

Also men being impregnated by animals was extremely weird. It’s more like a sick fantasy rather than a story of female rage and vengeance.
“Now that was hot." - said by the woman supervisor of the hell. Yall see what I am talking about. Like this is literally torture porn and a fantasy not female rage.

A man commits cannibalism in the world and he is punished by more cannibalism!? Uhm excuse me? He had to eat a child, and when he was given that said child, it was said to him that this child is more human than monster so we have to off them 😐 LIKE HOW IS THIS ANY BETTER!?

I’m so done literally, I don’t know what this author was on when writing this 🫥

“Expect extreme violence, grotesque body horror, disgusting imagery” literally got non of these … expect my ass. Ugh
