*** Sexy, hot flames, and throw in some Texas boys ! In the last book, Brody was part of the Firefighting team that came out for the fire and injuries. He and James met and then James defuses the bomb. Now, James is drawn to Brody, watching out for him, especially after he realizes Brody has a stalker and attempt on his life. We find that Brody already has problems from his past. I like how wonderful these two men are together, and super hot with Brody's first times. Meanwhile the team is planning a mission in Brazil, and the Texas guys are helping out. I remember Mike from the first book, who transferred to the Texas Ranch. But these guys are new to me, because I haven't read the Texas series.
* Our men have spent their lives fighting evil, and now they are finally allowing themselves to open their hearts. They are confused in the GFY situations, and others are protecting their bruised hearts. They are new to these feelings, and make mistakes, but talk things out. In the atmosphere of the ranch, the men are free to explore and discover, which is new to them.
Action packed, a mysterious stalker, an assassination assignment, sexy times, and more. I'm already looking forward to older Duff finding some peace and well deserved attention.
I'm on to the next book. I am really happy with this series. I think it's fascinating. ENJOY !
2.5 stars actually. There were parts that were really good, that kept me interested and focused on the action, like the whole operation in Brazil and Brody and James' part of the story. The other parts were not really that interesting and I had to force myself to actually read it all the way thru. Not one of my favorites in this series I'm afraid.
I don't know what to say about this book. It's an OK read. The MCs were lovely together. It would be better if there's more action.
Names were mentioned (they even have their own chapter, I think around Ch. 20 or 22?) I have no idea who the heck they are! After I read the reviews from another readers, I found out those people were from another series. They have nothing to do with THIS book, nothing to do with the plot. I was totally confused. Oops, I think I am just too slow, why didn't I notice the book title? But, I have never read the other series and how can I know other people from another series will appear in THIS book?
I LOVED stories with assassination but I am going to give up this series even if there's more books to come.
Perhaps if you've read the Texas series, the disjointedness of this book would be less bothersome. Anyone who's read the other books in the CO series knows they bounce around between various couples--well this one does the same thing and then adds in characters from Texas with no background, you are just supposed to know not only who they are but also their backstory. The biggest problem was that even though I knew nothing about those characters, their parts of the book were more engaging than the rest.
This book also leans hard into chicks-with-dicks territory. Most of the action is dull, and the big threat is easily taken out.
I get that she was trying to bring in her other series to get us acclimated to other characters. But it threw my almost every time. I did like how they brought them in Via Mike & Zander. But I didn't like how random the other men's stories would just pop up & take me out of the here & now with the Colorado men. Still a good series.
Brody was part of the previous story where he was a freighter who came to fight the fire but saw more than he should have, especially when James defused a bomb. Now James is smitten with him and is following Brody around, but that saves Brody's life when a stalker tries to kill him.
Of course this gets hot and steamy between the pair. I loved their story but randomly other men appear and I felt I should know them and their story, but I don't.
It's the reviews that I have subsequently seen that tell me they are from a different story series 😕 and I have not read this so it ruined this story for me. I would have liked to know more about how the others on the ranch are coping as a result of what happened in book 2.
Love these guys so much. I like that we got more on the Crazy Hills bunch as well. When am author blends their series work like this it makes my connection stronger. Can't wait to start the next one. And yes these stories get better with each read.
Why is this ENTIRE book in italics? Why? I was engaged in the series, but my gods, reading this one created a headache I didn't need. It came across as one huge flashback.
Love this series! I would not have found it if it hadn't been tucked in the middle of a random box set from Amazon. Soon I'll have them all Sara York is awesome!
This is book three of the Colorado Heart Series and I do suggest you read them in order. OH WOW! This was one heck of a book! I couldn’t put it down once I started though I expected as much since I’ve been reading all of these books. But, I had no idea what a wild ride I was in for in this one. We pick up with James still thinking about Brody, a sexy fireman that had accidently wandered into his life. He was all but stalking the man, when he realized he wasn’t the only one. Just as he had decided that Brody was dating a girl and there was no way for them to explore anything anyhow he takes it upon himself, against Duff’s wishes, to figure out what is going on and to protect the man. So even though there is an important mission coming on at the ranch, James has to go help Brody.
James following him confuses Brody. Deep down he knows he likes men, but never went farther than a kiss, and has always dated women though he feels like something is missing in his life and doesn’t like the feelings James’s stirs up. Mistaking James’s following him as having to do with the secret he stumbled upon their property, he is angry and afraid of James, until he realizes it’s his own past that is coming back to haunt him. (Yes, I know, another man in denial that he is Bi or gay, but hey, it’s so hot and this relationship budding is so exciting let’s move past that.) I absolutely loved James and Brody. Heck I like all the men and thought form the beginning grant was gonna be my newest crush, but nope James and Billy took the lead…
That is until we go to Texas! Yes, this is like getting two hot books in one. In Texas mike and Connor’s relationship is going strong. It’s been a difficult year, but they have found their footing( and we get some smoking hot sex!) Mike has to go to Brazil for an important mission with the DEA, Connor is going to se Lane and Gresh at crazy Hills. YES! More Lane and Gresh and I’ll be darn if this isn’t the hottest sex scene ever and man have these two men smoked up 6 books in the past…
And that’s it. I’m not going to tell you anymore and yes there is a lot more. SO, if you want to see how hot these guys are, what these missions are, and how these two stories connect go get the book! I sure hope there is more to come and SOON!
If you like the beauty of Colorado, modern day westerns, Cowboys, assassins, ex-military men, coming out, mystery, intrigue, lots of action, firemen, (hey, we had to have a man in uniform with our cowboys and assassins!), Dea Agents, motorcycle chases, more action than you could imagine, toss in some sexy Cowboys from Texas, and smoking hot man-sex I highly, highly recommend this book( this entire series!).
These men from the Colorado Heart series are simply irresistible. Gorgeous, deadly, compassionate, assassins, cowboys and lovers. Yes, definitely irresistible! Their stories are so intertwined it is best to read the series as a whole. Some men will drive you to tears, some to fears, and some to frustration, but one thing is sure: they all are lovers we dream of.
For Marshall and Zander, they had been best of friends since both came into the ranch. Everyone knows both men are close enough for brothers, but what none of them knew, though Roger suspected, was that Marshall had a definite thing going for Zander. When they finally get it together, both literally and romantically, both men find the joy of their lives and finally may just find their dreams of a happy life in the middle of all this chaos.
Then there's Brody the paramedic and James. James had been a ho but that did not mean he did not want what the others around him were enjoying?! So he looks to the right and sees Zander and Marshall; he looks to the left and sees Billy and Tucker; he looks in front of him and he sees Roger and Grant teaming up too. Of course he wants what they have, but can he have it? Brody is a civilian and could not nor should not be exposed to information that could get him and the men of the Bluff in danger. James has a whole lot of decision making to do.
Within all the romance and military jargon and action, we have Craig. Yes, that manipulative former team mate and lover of Grant who had been slowly and surely betraying his teammates for years and destroying Grant's self-esteem in the process. He sees Grant with a man and immediately thinks Marshall and all hell breaks loose. Then there is DEA Mike Jarred. It does look like this character is going to play a larger and more important role than what we got from book 3 so I do imagine he is going to be the character in focus for the up and coming book 4.
The Colorado Heart books is pretty much written like the Texas series but where that one did not have a convoluted set of characters, the Colorado books definitely is filled up to the brim with them. To top it off, it is impossible to make heads or tails of the series without reading these in order.
There is romance, there is action, there is mystery and there is erotica. A tale of espionage and romance set in the wilds of Colorado, Sara York is a master of spinning tails involving gun-toting assassin cowboys and the lovers they choose to live their forever with.
James has found himself in a difficult situation, he has been following Brody the gorgeous firefighter that helped him with Marshal. Knowing this is so wrong and he will get in so much trouble with Duff he still doesn't seems to stop.
Brody knows he has been followed by James and he knows his keeping his mouth shut about what he saw in that ranch. But his problem is not being scared of him, the problem is he has been imagining James in another whole level and that must stop.
James will find himself saving Brody and that will make him realized he is the man for him but is he ready to leave Wild Bluff Ranch and his work?
Recovery is in progress with Marshall's injuries he sustained in the hands of Craig, but his insecurities are making him doubt everything even the love Zander has for him. Will this two be able to defeat Marshall's demons and be happy now that Craig has been captured?
Ok, I did not see this coming!!! James and Brody are another hot couple that will melt your kindle. And where do I leave Marshall and Zander those two are so perfect for each other.
The intensity of this installment of Colorado Hearts Series was awesome. If I had to choose any installment I would have a hard time each and everyone of them shine a new light to the ranch and the team.
I recommend this book and series. I know you will like them.
I enjoy this book because of the Texas twist. But I do not think Grant have the right to tell James who he can see or not see that is James call to make. If it was not for his ex coming after them Brody was not go to be there in the first place. James did not go out look for love it found him when he was not look for it the minutes he came face to face with Brody he just new that Brody was go to be import to him. weather James was ready for love or not can he really turn his back on it who is to say he will find it again love is fun that way. I understand why Brody did what he did I am not by any means say it was the right thing to do. But on till we walk a mile in his shoe we can judge him his back was against the wall know other place to turn for help his father was died and he wanted to help him less the pain for him. who can say what they will or will not do to help they family. I am glad to see Connor doing well after what happen in the car with Riley and after the accident I am also glad to see Mike is still with him because we all know in the end Riley was chase after his friend boyfriend and that in my book was so wrong on so many level where do I start with that. first of all you do not sleep with friends when you have a boyfriend or a girlfriend how fair is that to them what you do not want for yourself you do not do to other because it will always coming back to bite you when you are not looking that is my P.O.V any way that how I see it.
“He wanted Brody for more than a friend. He wanted to be connected to the man, maybe even forever. This wasn’t a fling, this was more to James and that scared him.”
3 stars. This book was an okay read, probably not my favorite. I just was hoping for a little more really.
James Davenport can’t help but spy on Brody Medders, hoping to catch a glance of the sexy fireman. But he’s not the only one watching Brody. A twisted past of lies, drugs, and deception has caught up to Brody and now he’s in danger. After Brody is hit by a car, James comes to his rescue. James values honesty, but there is more to Brody’s story than he’s willing to share.
On Wild Bluff, Marshal is dealing with injuries that have sidelined him. Doubts about their relationship surface, driving a wedge between Zander and Marshal. A mission in Brazil requires Zander’s attention, leaving Marshal alone on the ranch.
In Texas, Mike Jarred informs Connor Ellison that he’s headed to Brazil for work while Connor visits Lane and Gresh at Crazy Hills ranch.
When Colorado and Texas collide, you never know what will happen.
This book was okay, it was slightly confusing in some parts, but overall it was an okay read. Probably not my favorite book in the series. Not that this story was horrible at all, I just was hoping for more I guess!

We're back with the boys of the Wild Bluff ranch and this time it's James who takes the spotlight. He is following - or stalking in his words - Brody, supposedly to make sure that Brody doesn't talk about the ranch but in reality, it is because James is fascinated with him. Brody comes across as a 'clean-cut boy' but has his own secrets to hide.
The one thing that stuck out for me in this book is the introduction to new characters, a new scene and a whole backstory that I know absolutely nothing about. Whilst I can see them having more importance as the story goes on, I have no idea who they are or what they're about right now. The other thing is that 'Mike' is mentioned more than once but from what I could understand, there is more than one 'Mike' character so I have no idea which one was which and who was being spoken about. I guess if you've read the other series, you will know more but I haven't.
On the whole, this was very enjoyable and I liked spending time with Zander, Marshall, Tucker and Billy, as well as James and Brody. Definitely enjoying these reads.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *

★½ Except for a few incidents where someone tried to hurt Brody & an op in South America there was nothing going on in this book but emotional diarrhea. I just didn't form any connection at all to the characters or find any of this believable.
I spent 10 yrs in the military working with flight crew, I went on a training deployment with a spec-op team, & most of my family is military. People who work with intelligence or top secret material are NOT this open. Not even with lovers, spouses, & family. So I find it extremely difficult to believe that hardcore superspy/assassins are so in touch with their snuggle-bunny selves. It just does not compute. There's a reason why so many former spec-ops members flip their shit or commit suicide when they're done with their time in service. Killing people and/or seeing people get killed completely fucks with their heads. It doesn't make them want to be teddy bears. /rant
I read the book last weekend after reading about a hundred books and short stories since reading books 1&2 and i can tell you i was confused. I kept seeing characters i knew i had seen before but couldn't remember them in the Colorado Series. I liked the story with James & Brody and Zander & Marshall even went to Sara's web and searched the first two books for Gresh & Lane. You might say i was obsessed. I never could find anything so i finished reading feeling frustrated. I then decided to read Texas Soul Legacy again and wha la there were Gresh, Lane, the teens and and the baby. Legacy was good the second time so I reread book 3 and enjoyed it much better (5* rating) . Bottom line read the Colorado 1&2 & Texas Soul 1-6 prior to reading this new book if you want to follow the characters stories.
Another great book in the Colorado Heart series. I've enjoyed all the book in this series so far, this one punished some boundaries that could be touchy for some people. Overall, James and Brody are two pretty intense characters. James we have met in the previous books, while Brody was only briefly brought up at the end of Book 2. We don't really learn much about Brody, but its obvious that someone is out to get him, from the beginning.
I somewhat felt like the relationship between James and Brody was a bit fast. They had only met, James became obsessed with Brody, who is in a relationship with a women. He drops the girlfriend and is then in a relationship with James all in like a week.
Other than that aspect of the book, I enjoyed the mystery, while it was pretty basic it mystery it wasn't completely easy to figure out.

It turns out that the "Texas Twist" refers to several drawn out portions of the book that are actually continuations of an entirely different series with different characters and contain absolutely no introductions, or explanations. One of these characters briefly comes into contact with a character from this series which would have been fine as a cameo in a stand alone but there are scenes between he and his boyfriend leading up to this encounter that sort of come out of nowhere and feel out of place. Much worse, we also follow his boyfriend as he goes back to what I'm guessing is the setting of the other series and witness conversations between characters we don't know about events we know nothing about. It's extremely jarring. Honestly, reading the other series first is REQUIRED for those passages and that should have been in the blurb. I probably would have.
Here we are with James pursuing Brody in a carry over infatuation from the second book in the series when suddenly we shift to Texas where Mike and Connor are in bed and then go to another part of Texas where Lachlan and...oh, too many people, too many cross currents, too many unsolved plots.
Well, at least there's a reason for Mike to be there (was he in any of the other books?).
But then, what happens to James and Brody after James makes a monumental decision that will affect his life at Wild Bluff? There's no resolution--and I am not sure there is one in the next book.
Just very disappointing from an author whom I love but here tries to do too much with too many characters from too many series.
WOW, I absolutely enjoyed every single page of Colorado Flames! It was wonderful to be back with the men from Two of my favourite series, Colorado Heart and Texas Soul...what a amazing idea to combine the Two!
As always Sara York writes in her unique, down to earth style. I instantly knew each character and was eager to know what was happening in each of their lives. At the same time the storyline was gripping taking me on a exciting, nail biting journey! The ending was perfect and I am excited for more !
I have enjoyed every single book I've read by this author, she has a way of telling it as it is, which I adore.
It's a good book now I really need to read #4 in this series. It really puts into perspective when you read the preceding series and I am not referring to the three previous in this Colorado Heart series as it is a crossover from the Texas Soul series. I love it. So to others who are interested I recommend you read the complete Texas Soul series and you won't be lost when you start reading about Gresh and Lane or Connor and Riley. Good writing Sara York I am looking forward for other books in the Colorado Heart series. You earn 6 stars from me lol
I think my best description of this book was confusing. There were too many different storylines and while I love m/m romance, there are just way too many story arcs and too many alpha males running around in this book for me to keep track of who everyone is.
I think I would have been ok if not for the Texas storylines. Since I haven't read any of those books, there were a whole bunch of new people that I didn't know and with the ongoing drama at Wild Bluff, it was just a little too much.
I'm gonna take a break from this series for awhile and then come back I think...
