He's looking for the perfect wife. She's looking for the perfect one-night stand.

Literary agent Zoey Moody doesn't like small town life, but here she is: exiled from Manhattan's publishing scene and trapped in a tiny Pennsylvania town with her BFF and only remaining client, Hazel. The problem? She's totally broke.

All she needs is for Hazel's next romance novel to become a gigantic hit, and Zoey will be back in New York. Nothing will stand in her way. Nothing except her six-foot-two-inch landlord, Gage Bishop. He's smart, serious, and sexy. Worst of all, he's ready to settle down.

Zoey might be the most beautiful woman Gage has ever met, but it's clear they're all wrong for each other. She's allergic to commitment and can't work a calendar app; he's looking for a wife and has the next five years all planned out. She's afraid of animals. He lives in a literal barn. But when Gage's world is rocked by a devastating family secret, he turns to Zoey for one night to forget everything. That one night just might change everything…or ruin it.

Perfect for fans of the heart, humor, and hope found in Things We Never Got Over and Things We Left Behind, Mistakes Were Made is a steamy escape to small town romance―full of emotional twists, slow-burn tension, and Lucy Score's trademark charm.

Mistakes Were Made is another small town romance set in the over the top quirky fictional town of Story Lake.  The book picks up with the story of another bishop Brother (Gage) and  Zoey (Hazel's agent and BFF) . Gage is the very straight laced, organized, everything done the right way town lawyer who lives near his family in a barn while also working at the family business as a part time contractor. Zoey is presented as a complete opposite, fearful of animals, not near as close of a family, and basically a chaotic unorganized disaster.

Like most Lucy Score books this one is a big ol' book to get through. There are a lot of side characters and cast "extras" in order to lean into the quirky small town vibe in the story or to provide evidence of a backstory, but honestly some of it could have been cut to tighten up the rest of the story and make it a little more readable.  Some characters feel like they are just there to meet a word count. On a positive note though, the cast of many is clearly written to be as inclusive as possible.

Zoey's internal thoughts offer a very clear insight into why she is how she is and how she feels about it including the pressure that comes with being the type of person everyone sees as chaotic.  However, there is also a lot overdoing on the chaos in order to make a point and it can come really close to the line of being stereotypical. Gage is really a loveable golden retriever who is ultra organized to the point of being darn near perfection kind of leading man, until he isn't. Almost enough to make the reader question themselves if they really want to root for them to work out. For all of the fleshing out of the town characters and Zoey's history, Gage's reactions to things don't quite match up to his characters history. Perhaps if there was more detailed backstory in to his perfection instead of other random places it would have been an easier pill to swallow.  However, as the title says Mistakes Were Made, and sometimes you have to move past them because life isn't perfect.  One thing is for certain, the Bishop family as a whole makes for an excellent cast of characters and I'm excited to see Levy's story.

Overall, if you like Lucy Score you will like this book as well.  If you're looking for the very quirky small town romance, with a heavy emphasis on the town setting, you will love this series.

Do you hear that? That’s me clapping 👏👏👏👏👏. That’s me giving a STANDING OVATION to this masterpiece. Absolute masterpiece. The first book in this series was great! But this? I don’t even know if I can explain to you HOW GOOD THIS BOOK is! You laugh, you get mad (good redemption mad), you get oh so happy and you swoon.

Do love animals? All the freaking animals? Well I do! 🙋🏼‍♀️ And this book has them all! They’re funny and cute and omg. I have a donkey 🫏 (name’s Coco) and I looooove him. They are the funniest and sweetest big dogs ever and they will chase you all while heehaawwing their hearts out. I grew up on a farm and can’t imagine having it any other way. Those animals notch a permanent spot in your hearts and the ones in this book will too! You have Goose, the eagle 🦅, Bertha the raccoon 🦝, Nana and Meetcute, omg to DIE for and you have Pepe. The cutest miniature donkey ever written 🫏!

Lucy Score has a way of writing these small towns that make me literally want to live in them. And after reading this book I now want to go find a small town just like Story Lake that has a town eagle that’s actually the town’s best matchmaker 😂!

You also have a major ADHD rep in this book and it’s awesome! I grew up with an ADHD mom and I’m married to an ADHD man and let me tell you, it was actually super entertaining watching Zoey have all the things that used to confuse me growing up. It’s actually why I’m so organized and so good at planning ahead because a mom and husband with ADHD is absolute CHAOS 😂. Never a dull moment. This is the best ADHD rep I’ve ever read in a book.

Zoey and Gage are one helluva couple as well. Their story and the town happenings are all just so interesting and fun. I don’t want to go into too much detail and spoil it but PLEASE. Just read this book. I never implore anyone to read the books I love. I only implore people to read the books that floored me and this one did.

Oh my gosh, I absolutely loved this book! I could not stop reading it! This book is hilarious and heartfelt with amazing banter. My fave book of this series!

Thank you to Hambright PR and the author for the ALC of this book to read/listen to and review.

The FMC, Zoey, is funny, strong, resourceful, and easily distracted. She is best friends/book agent of Hazel, the FMC from book 1, Story of My Life. Zoey is not looking for a relationship, but open to casual hookups. Enter Gage Bishop, gorgeous attorney/contractor/landlord, who is up to the challenge of Zoey, but looking to settle down and find a wife. Their opposites attract/reluctant romance is really well done!

I enjoyed the found family aspect of the town and the Bishop family. Lots of quirky, lovable people who throw baked potatoes when angry and will fight to defend their town.

This book had the same lovable animal companions as book 1 (Goose and Bertha - some of the funniest characters in the book) plus the addition of several new animals including a love struck mini donkey, and a dopey golden retriever named Nana (named after an Arrested Development reference, which was an amazing show!).

The plot was medium paced throughout, and held my attention the entire time.

The world building of the story expanded from book 1 to show more parts of the town, explain some legal aspects, and showed nuances of the book publishing process.

There is spice in this book, 🌶️🌶️🌶️

This book covers themes of grief and loss, the power of forgiveness, emotional child abuse, spousal abuse, and infertility.

I liked the discussion of adult diagnosed ADHD in women. This representation of neurodivergence is refreshing and important.

Overall, I loved this book and series and definitely recommend!

This book!! Gage & Zoey had me hooked. I absolutely loved book one in this series, so I knew I’d love this one. However, it blew my expectations out of the water! This one had me laughing, swooning, and absolutely falling in love with this town, the characters, and all the animals! Oh, goose 😅

Gage was such a do it by the book, straight forward MMC who had his life track planned out. Zoey was chaos in human form & his complete opposite in every way! Together these two made for such a fun, but undeniable connection that had me cracking up and pulling for them all at the same time.

This book was chaotic, hilarious, and full of big feelings that just kept me loving it and I wanting more. I adore this little over the top town of Story Lake. The family, the friends, and all the side characters just made this one such a fun & enjoyable story. Definitely recommend this one if you love a good small town rom com!

Thank you Hambright for this early copy & Lucy Score for always writing such lovable characters and stories that we can lose ourselves in!!

I was lucky enough to get an early copy of this book, don’t be too jealous!

Breathless!
Gage Bishop. Sigh. The swooniest hero ever written. A good man, an attorney, a construction contractor, a loyal son and brother. And so taken with the manic pixie Zoey, he falls off a roof the first time he sees her.
Zoey Moody. A big picture kind of woman with a heart as big as the ocean. Now if she could only remember where she put her car keys. Seemingly erratic, absentminded, flighty. Ahhh, but things are not as they appear with our fair literary agent heroine.
Gage has planned and organized every aspect of his life into neat little boxes, Zoey…not so much. And that’s what creates magic. You will be stunned breathless by the way Gage loves Zoey. I’ve never read anything like it and never wanted this book to end!
Story Lake once again takes a leading role in bringing a happily ever after to our new favorite couple, as well as a new side character that you will stand up and cheer for! Our old friend Goose also plays prominently in the Grand Gesture, which is as it should be! This whole book is perfect, and I couldn’t put it down! Big feelings, big belly laughs, maybe a big gulping sob or two.
Lucy Score is a sorceress who can plug directly into your heartstrings.

Really enjoyed this book!! Seemed a bit long but considering all that happened I know that was why. But I love that Zoey got her own story !! Her and Gage is definitely a good example of opposites attracting and in turn- completing each other in so many ways. Also love a good enemies to lovers ! And the animal antics, family and friends and the whole community of Story Lake are enduring, hilarious and round out the story so well !

4.5⭐️ Rounded up on Goodreads

Let me start by saying I haven’t read book 1 in this series yet, but was thrilled to read the ARC / listen to the ALC of this one- because… Lucy Score- duh! And let me tell you how fast I’m running to go back and read book 1.

Mistakes Were Made was that good. This book is a gift to us rom-com lovers. The literary references, the FMC / MMC chemistry and banter, the small town vibes, the supporting characters, and crazy animals - I loved it all.

Synopsis: Gage is looking for a wife. Zoey is looking for a perfect one night stand. These two opposites definitely attract when they’re thrown together in Story Lake. Can a fun and flirty one night stand turn into something more?

I love this book! First time reading Lucy Score!

Zoey moved to a small town in Pennsylvania for a number of reasons. First, she’s broke, two, her best and only client, Hazel lives there. Hazel is an author and Zoey’s best friend. Hazel is also getting married to Gage Bishop’s brother.

Gage is a lawyer and real estate partner with his brothers. He’s also handsome, smart and looking for a woman to marry and start a family. Zoey is attracted to Gage but she avoids commitment like a plague. They are totally incompatible; or are they?!

Family, friends, and love highlight every turn of this great story. It’s fine as a standalone read and super entertaining.

Thanks Edelweiss and Bloom Books. I’m a new Lucy Score fan!

Gage Bishop and Zoey Moody know that they’re wrong for each other. But if they’re so wrong, why do they keep ending up drawn together? The follow-up to my favorite book of 2025, Story of My Life, did not disappoint! I loved being pulled back into Story Lake, and following up with Cam, Hazel, and the rest of the crazy townspeople. Gage is a dream, and Zoey is so relatable as she navigates her hot mess of a life. I just wish I could visit this town IRL!

Color me surprised she's not pairing Zoey up with Levi. It was leaning either way. Levi was the only Bishop brother I found interesting so I'm glad he's not being paired up with Zoey. No shade but shade. 😬 I may just have to give this series another chance after all just to see who she pairs Levi up with...

Lucy Score - Mistakes Were Made // thank you so much Hambright PR and Lucy Score for the ARC!

Zoey Moody needs a place to live. Turns out staying at a hotel while relying on your only client to write a bestseller is kind of expensive. Luckily her best friend’s boyfriend’s brother, Gage has an apartment she can rent. While Gage’s brother is afraid he will hook up with Zoey neither of them worries. They’re polar opposites. Gage is responsible, wants a family and like structure. Zoey is chaos impersonated and don’t do relationships. But casual sex has never hurt anyone…

It’s always a delight to read Lucy Score’s books and this was no less! We’re finally back in charming Story Lake with teenage mayor Darius and the troublemaking eagle, Goose. I adore the small town vibe and humor in this book! All the antics and quirky personalities are so fun. Zoey always runs into crazy accidents that’s so ridiculous I’m actually laughing.

The romance between Gage and Zoey was sweet. I liked how he supported her and comforted her. Zoey carried the world on her shoulders and went with the constant feeling of never being enough. He showed her how wonderful she was and that she should be proud of all her accomplishments because she’s talented and competent and kind. Their banter was was also great!

I appreciated the ADHD representation in the book. I thought it was well written and showed how ruinous it can be for girls to never receive a diagnosis. Zoey was constantly told she was a trouble child and craved attention but in reality she only needed medication. The realisation opened a whole new world to her and I loved how supportive and caring Gage was in this prosess.

The family texts in this book was hilarious! I loved Gage’s family and especially the emotional plot with Larry and the trial. A sweet, funny and delightful read!

We are back in Story Lake, and this time we are following Zoey & Gage. Once again, we get over 500 pages of small-town romance. I’m not complaining!

Zoey and Gage are not right for each other. Zoey is a big-city girl looking for something casual, while Gage is ready to wife someone up and start a family. But Goose once again has the ability to bring people together, no matter how hard they fight against it.

I really loved it. This is just what you would expect out of a Lucy Score romance, and if you have loved her other books, you will love this too. This is book 2 in a series, and I would recommend reading “Story of My Life” first.

Mistakes Were Made is the second book in Mistakes Were Made, part of the Story Lake by Lucy Score. This time the story follows Hazel’s literary agent, Zoey Moody, who moves to Story Lake with Hazel as a temporary escape while she tries to get her life back on track. Gage Bishop, meanwhile, is ready to find “the one” so he can settle down and start a family. The two keep crossing paths around town, even though Zoey insists she’s not built for long-term relationships. What begins as a supposed one-night stand quickly proves neither of them is very good at keeping things casual.

This was another hilarious installment in the series. I laughed out loud just as much as I did with the first book. The quirky residents of Story Lake—both human and animal—continue to steal the show and make the town feel alive. I also appreciated how the story thoughtfully included ADHD representation while expanding on the accessibility themes introduced in the previous book. Another easy five-star read for me! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I absolutely loved this book! I was hooked in immediately and devoured it as quickly as I could! I started reading this one, but then I received the audiobook and was so excited that I could jump right back in during my workday. I ended up finishing this one up with an immersive read and it just made it so much better. This was dual narration, and the narrators did a fantastic job.

There was so much quirky humor, some great banter, small town antics, and some good spice. I was laughing quite a bit through the entire book. Zoey and Gage definitely nailed the "opposites attract" vibe!

Gage is very methodical, straight forward, and has everything neat and all planned out. He is loyal to a fault and always makes sure that everybody is taken care of. Zoey is chaos and completely opposite him in every way but and has such a giant heart. She may not be organized, but she does thrive in the chaos. Together they had such a great and fun connection and balance each other out perfectly.

The friends, the family, and all the small-town people were amazing. We cannot forget the animals either, especially Goose!

If you love a good small town rom-com, I highly suggest you give this one a chance! Thank you to Lucy Score and HambrightPR for the early copy to read/listen!

I wasn’t sure how a book could surpass Story of My Life but this one did. I love Zoey and all of her quirks and antics and I love Gage for his seriousness and strength! And them together? YES PLEASE! I loved being back in Story Lake! Lucy has a way of making you love even the smallest of side character and she has so many little animal sidekicks that I just want to squeeze! I can’t wait to see what comes next for Story Lake!

I loved this book!

Second in the series, you can read it first but there will be spoilers for the first book. I did read it first and I still loved it but as you can see I loved the characters soooo much that I immediately went to my library and borrowed the first 😅

Filled with banter, shenanigans, tension, and hilarious side characters including a rouge eagle, this book had me laughing and swooning sometimes at the same time.

OMG I love this series. I have never had a book make me laugh out loud and cry in the middle of my office at work. The humour hit perfectly without being too over the top and the serious parts were done in a way that weren’t too heavy but still brought a tear to my eye.

We’re back in Story Lake. Zoey has been staying there after losing her job to help Hazel launch her new book. Zoey is a little bit of a loose canon. She seems to find herself in a mess of disasters often. Also in Story Lake is Gage Bishiop, and he couldn’t be more opposite of her. He’s responsible, keeps a schedule, remembers things, and wants a wife and kids. Zoey is just looking for fun. When Gage finds out some life changing news, he turns to Zoey for some fun. But that’s all it’s going to be right, just some fun? Or will it change everything between them?

The romance between Gage and Zoey was magnetic. They had fantastic banter, a lot of it. Zoey is sassy, and while she talks down about herself quite a bit, she does seem rather comfortable with who she is. Gage is reserved. He’s a lawyer and a contractor. He comes from a close knit, loving family. Zoey has the worst parents. They shouldn’t make sense together, but they do. They bring out things in each other that enhance each others’ lives. He’s protective in a way that could be seen as too much, but it really just comes from such a good place. They really are the perfect opposites attract pair.

I really enjoyed the mental health representation in this book. I too was diagnosed with ADHD later in life. My children also have ADHD. Learning about it, learning about it in kids and in adults, has really changed my way of thinking, my way of parenting, and going through life. I’m much better at being helpful with my kids than I am with myself. It was nice to read about Zoey learning of a diagnosis, doing things to help herself, and then also those around her helping her too. She felt broken, and I felt that wholeheartedly. I have felt like my brain is broken. I know what it feels like to take the medicine, get the change late in the day when the medicine wears off, or feel awful when I forget to take it. I am so thankful for this representation in this book.

I will say, I did think the book was a *little* too long. There were a lot of subplots that, while I get is carried through books, just felt like a little too much at times. Otherwise, I did enjoy the book.

Thank you to Hambright PR for the opportunity to read and listen to an advance copy of Mistakes Were Made by Lucy Score. It’s the second book in the Story Lake series but I feel it can be read as a standalone.

It was so great to be back in Story Lake, Pennsylvania! It’s a town full of quirky characters and I found myself smiling and laughing while I read or listened. It’s on the long side, but somehow it didn’t feel long. The romance is top-notch with two imperfect characters finding their way to each other and a HEA. Opposites Attract fans will love this story.

Zoe is a terrific FMC. She’s totally scatterbrained but very creative and loyal. It turns out that she’s an adult who was never diagnosed with ADHD and that diagnosis made total sense to her - and to this reader. I was rooting for her through the whole book (especially after meeting her awful parents!). She’s a literary agent with only one client at the start of the book, her best friend Hazel, which is why she’s in Story Lake instead of Manhattan in the first place. Gage, the MMC, is both a small town lawyer and contractor (with his brothers). His family is delightful - and I’m hoping for another book in this series to see if Levi can find his HEA, now that Cam and Gage are spoken for. And maybe their sister Laura might find a second chance at happiness? Who knows what Lucy Score may have up her sleeve.

There’s excellent representation of ADHD, adoption and disability, as Laura is now confined to a wheelchair, after being hit by a car while out running.

Animal lovers will get a real kick out of all the animals in this book! And there’s a grumpy but talented senior citizen, Opal, who I also fell in love with.

NOTE: There are quite a few very steamy scenes. Also be aware that there’s a fair amount of cursing, if that bothers you. And some discussion of infertility.

I loved the audio version, which features two narrators, Lila Winters and Sebastian York, both of whom also narrated the first book in the series, Story Of My Life.

Let me start off by saying I am a FAN of Lucy Score! If you are also a fan of Lucy Score, you will not be disappointed in “Mistakes Were Made.” This is the follow up to “Story of My Life,” and it jumps right into the intense chemistry between Gage Bishop, small town contractor, lawyer, and all around good guy and Zoey Moody, a big city publicist and fly by the seat of your pants kind of gal. The first time he saw her he literally fell off a roof because he was so enraptured (which happened in the first book so go back and read that first!). This is the classic opposites attract with a stellar cast of side characters in an incredibly charming setting.
I love how the town of Story Lake is almost a character itself with the townspeople promoting it and defending it from the evil neighboring town of Dominion. And the side characters are so fully realized that I am vested in ALL of them! From every member of the Bishop family, to old Opal and George, to the crazy cast of animal friends like Goose the eagle to brand new Buttercup the baby pit bull puppy, I want to know what happens with them next! And we get to revisit Hazel and Cam and their crazy raccoon, cat, and puppy filled home!!!
This book was a welcome back to Story Lake, where I would definitely like to live, and a not-subtle-at-all homage to everyone who has ever felt simultaneously “too much, and not enough.” Were the characters a bit over the top, yes. Was it perfect for this story, also yes! I live for this type of character self development (although I will admit there was a time when Gage was a bit too rough and out of character). There is spice, there is family drama, there is personal reflection, and all types of friendships. I recommend you suspend disbelief, put any judginess aside, and enjoy this book as the delightful escapism it is.

Thank you to Bloombooks/Sourcebooks via NetGalley for providing an eARC of this book!

Mistakes Were Made by Lucy Score is a delightful mix of small-town charm, sharp humor, and heartfelt romance. Following Zoey who is Hazel’s (Story of My Life) best friend and agent who originally followed Hazel to Story Lake for a limited time finds herself moving there more permanently after an issue with her New York apartment. There her relationship with Gage Bishop takes a turn that she did not expect. Slowly Zoey learns more about herself and also learns to love Story Lake and the residents who live there.

From the moment Gage quite literally falls head over heels when he first sees Zoey (after falling off a roof!), their chemistry is undeniable. But the two want completely different things. Gage has his future planned and is ready for a wife, kids, and stability. Zoey, on the other hand, prefers a no-strings-attached, friends-with-benefits situation and avoids commitment at all costs. Watching them slowly get to know each other and challenge each other’s expectations makes their relationship development feel natural, emotional, and incredibly satisfying.

The banter between Zoey and Gage is one of the highlights of the book. Their witty back-and-forth had me smiling constantly, and their chemistry absolutely jumps off the page. The spicy scenes are perfectly written, steamy without overshadowing the emotional connection growing between them.

Beyond the romance, the quirky town of Story Lake and its colorful cast of characters add so much warmth and humor to the story. While the book is fun and lighthearted, it also touches on deeper topics like forgiveness, adult ADHD diagnosis, grief, parental neglect, infertility, and living with the aftermath of life-changing accidents. Lucy Score balances these heavier themes with humor and heart beautifully.

Fans of Gilmore Girls or Schitt’s Creek will feel right at home with this charming, funny, and heartfelt story. With lovable characters, great spice, and plenty of emotional depth, Mistakes Were Made is an unforgettable small-town romance.

I absolutely LOVED this book! I got thid as an ARC and an ALC from Hambright PR. The audiobook was *chefs kiss* 😘😘 Sebastian York and Lila Winters really brought these characters to life! 🥹😍 Lila really brought the quirky awkwardness to Zoey and Sebastian brought the lawyer planner sterness to Gage! It was so good and very cute! I love a quirky character and Zoey Moody our FMC is definitely that. Zoey is Hazel's best friend and literary agent. Hazel and Cam are the main characters from the first book Story of My Life. Zoey moves temporarily to Story Lake after having to vacate her NY apartment. Zoey gets a job as the town publicist and the new place she moves into belongs to none other than our MMC Gage Bishop. Gage is the complete and total opposite of Zoey who is always a mess and unorganized and always getting into shenanigans. Gage is the town lawyer and he is all about being by the book and sticking to a rigid plan. Gage grew up with amazing parents and a very supportive family where Zoey had parents who weren't very loving or supportive to her. 😩 Zoey has given up on love because she believes if her parents couldn't even love her she must be unlovable.😭😭 Gage does the sweetest things to show her otherwise. Gage has been going through his own trauma though after his sister was in a car accident that left her in a wheelchair and her husband deceased. Zoey does something impulsively out of love and it brings up all of Gage's worst fears and he lashes out at Zoey throwing all her worst fears back at her making a HUGE mistake... Can they forgive each other's mistakes and overcome their own trauma to realize they love each other?? 👀👀 This book was fantastic!🥹😍😍 The banter between the characters was amazing. The FOUND FAMILY?!? Omggg SO SO good! 🥹🥹😍😍😍😭😭The spice was fantastic as well!🥵 The representation in this book about trauma, ADHD, autism, and making mistakes it was just incredible! 🥹🥹😭😭

Sometimes it’s hard for me to fall in love with the couple that follows the first book, but that was not the case with Mistakes Were Made. While this can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading Story of My Life first because the main and side characters are all so lovable. I adored Zoey and Gage so much! Those Bishop brothers are swoon-worthy!

I connected with Zoey on such a personal level. I also didn’t discover until my early 40s that I have ADHD, and life could have been a bit easier if it had been discovered much earlier, just like Zoey. Her character made me feel seen and understood. I loved her spontaneous reactions and related to the way her mind works.

Gage was so dreamy and 100% book boyfriend material. The sweaty sports bra scene is one you won’t want to miss. Zoey gets stuck in one and Gage comes to her rescue, but what happens next is so unexpected and hilarious. For sure a turning point for Gage. Also, another third-act breakup done right, with lots of the grovel I love.

What to expect:

Neurodivergent FMC • small town romance • she’s looking for a one-night stand, he’s looking for a wife • forced proximity • not-so-secret dating • found family • incredible chemistry • fabulous banter • lovable animal side characters • top tier spice

Thanks to Lucy Score and Hambright PR for giving me an advance reader copy of this disastrously beautiful romcom. I love Story Lake so much and can’t wait for Levi’s story!

I listened to the audiobook for this one and absolutely loved it. Zoey was an absolute hoot, her chaotic personality had me laughing the whole way through. And the way Gage could get her completely flustered at times just made their dynamic even better.

The banter between these two was fantastic and kept the story fun and engaging the entire time. Lucy Score’s writing was remarkably done, witty, entertaining and easy to get pulled into.

The small-town characters also added so much fun to the story. Gage’s mom especially had me kicking my feet, she was absolutely hysterical and stole several scenes because she has no filter and isn’t afraid to push Gage’s buttons, especially when it comes to his love life.

The audiobook narration by Sebastian York and Lila Winters was brilliant. They truly brought Zoey and Gage to life and made the listening experience amazing.

If you enjoy small-town romance, great banter, meddling family and characters that feel real and fun, this one is definitely worth listening to.

✨Audio Review✨
Mistakes Were Made
Book 2 in The Story Lake Series
Rating: 5⭐️
Spice: 1.5-2🌶️

Lucy has done it again with the quick wit, laugh until your belly aches humor, and the heartwarming found family vibes!

I loved being back in Story Lake watching the slowburn tension between Zoey and Gage. They’re complete opposites in almost every way, but yet exactly what the other needs. Their nonstop banter, flirty tension, and wandering eyes had me laughing out loud more times than I can count.

I really appreciate Lucy highlighting the struggles AND strengths of ADHD in women through Zoey, and the caring, thoughtful ways Gage shows up for her. I’ve never related so much with a character than I did with Zoey!

Now it def wouldn’t be a Lucy Score smalltown romance without the hilarious side characters, chaotic shenanigans, and of course big family love.

I thoroughly enjoyed the audio for this one! Thank you Hambright PR and Lucy Score!

Definitely pick up Mistakes Were Made for your next smalltown romantic comedy read.

Zoey was such a fun FMC. She was sassy, impulsive, and unfiltered and opposite of everything Gage thought he wanted. Gage is our strong, steady MMC who wants to settle down and have the whole white picket fence dream. But somehow along the way, together they both found what they were looking for. I loved how the town of Story Lake took Zoey in and made her feel like she finally found a home. They loved and protected her as though she had been there all along.

I do feel like it drug out a little bit. It felt like it took a while to to get to their actual relationship developing better. That being said, it was still a cute story! This quirky little town is so fun. I love the Bishop family and can't wait for more.

This was a dual narration by Sebastian York & Lila Winters. Lila was perfect for the sassy Zoey! She's was everything I imagined her to be. Sebastian delivered all the emotions of Gage perfectly. Together these two brought the fun banter and small town shenanigans to life.
