Mohler faithfully and biblically engages with the threefold office of Christ: prophet, priest, and king. He shows how Jesus fulfills each of these old covenant archetypes in necessary, perfect, and ongoing ways.

While there are a few places of exploring how these realities should impact Christians in day-to-day life, these areas—especially concerning the community found in the local church and also engagement with an increasingly hostile culture—could have been handled in more depth.

Short chapters will encourage novice readers, and the structure of his approach is easy to follow. More importantly, Mohler grounds his illustrations and draws his conclusions from Scripture, showing how the full counsel of God’s word points to Christ.

Though relatively brief, this work helpfully establishes the supreme glory of Jesus as he graciously ministers to his people as their prophet, priest, and king.

I think this is my favorite Dr. Mohler book. It is brilliant in its simple exegesis. He offers succinct, sound commentary, but, by and large, organizes Scripture in such a way that the biblical passages make the arguments for him. The reader cannot help but see the clear case that Jesus simultaneously and fully embodies the offices of prophet, priest, and king. He does so in glorious fulfillment of prophecy, in an obvious conclusion of the overall biblical narrative, and in merciful salvation of his people. What a Christ exalting book!

Excellent read!
This book was well laid out, flowing smoothly as it delved into the three offices of Christ. Each section was exciting to see who Christ is and His acts as prophet, priest, and king described in detail through scripture.

Dr. Albert Mohler explores how Jesus Christ, as Son of God and our Messiah, fulfills the Biblical offices of Prophet, High Priest, and King both now and for all eternity. Dr. Mohler points out the Scriptural references to each office and how attempts to find worldly representatives of the same are doomed to failure. Conversely, the author uses the ongoing human desire to seek out prophets, priests, and kings, as evidenced throughout history, as proof that as people we are programmed by our Creator to know the only One who does in fact truly qualify for these three roles. Anyone familiar with Dr. Mohler's previous works (or his daily podcast, the Briefing) will find this book written with his usual combination of authority, relatability, and erudition. The chapters are short and flow well from one topic to the next, with lots of examples and quotations from the Scriptures. This book takes on a subject most of us as believers probably don't think about often enough and demonstrates why it is a matter of considerable theological significance. Definitely recommended for all Bible students and followers of the one blessed Prophet, Priest, and King.

Not my favorite Mohler book, but biblical and helpful. I struggled to get a feel for the rhythm and flow of the book. Yes, three offices of Christ, three sections of the book ... still, within each section, the flow of the argument felt meandering at points. The book almost read like a sermon or lecture that had been transcribed into writing. The book WAS helpful for gathering ideas for a short series on "Christ" that I am preparing for our church's pre-teen camp Bible study.

It is really interesting, and it contains valuable and accurate theology, but it is organized more like a sermon series outline than a book. It is a great resource and/or refresher, but there were portions that felt like it was a speech-to-text transcript from Dr. Mohler with no edits.

Overall a great book about the three offices of Christ. At times it felt like the writing was rushed to get a point across. Mohler creates a good basis of what a prophet, priest and king are within the OT context, and ties it in well with how Christ holds those three offices. Overall a good book!

Great coverage of Jesus as Prophet, Priest, and King. Really gives good coverage to each of the areas with small chapters covering different angles of each way Jesus is these things. Dr. Mohler always writes with conviction and clarity that is so refreshing in this world today.
