Vaporized Apocalyptic-Adventure Thriller By: Simon Rosser Narrated by: Margie Valine This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. Objects came in from outer space but doesn't land as expected. Other things happen that is not expected! No zombies, which makes it a good book to me! Tired of zombies! Lol! It has an original idea, suspense, and chills. The narration was not a performance but just someone reading, at least that's the way it sounded.
Well written and moves right along. not the normal zombie book. The earth is being drained of it's water and the people just dissolve. One girl lives on and fights to survive.
Review: Vaporized: Alien Invasion by Simon Rosser.
I found this book to be well-written with little editing issue, loved the characters (very few) and the story was fascinating and the pacing of the story is in full action mode. I believe it won’t take long before Simon Rosser makes a name for himself among other good writers. The story was paced with action and adventure to the end. It has a mix of science fiction, adventure, horror and suspense.
Amber Lee lives in London working as a lawyer and has a three day holiday weekend that she is looking forward too. She wants to spend some time with her friends and having relaxed time for herself. As she was filtering out her events for the weekend she was listening to a repot that debris from outer space were falling through the Earth’s atmosphere and falling in remote areas of the world. Two of the objects were being tracked and they were headed for the Earths Polar Regions. However, Amber just let the report not bother her at all and went to bed early.
During the middle of the night Amber woke from a bad dream and was thirsty and went to the kitchen and remembered she forgot to pick up water. With fuzzy thoughts she remembers her Uncle’s protected storage room that had everything he would need in case of a natural disaster. Still half asleep she pressed the code to open the door of the secured room and found the water and took two bottles and drank half of one then she made her way back to bed and fell right back to sleep.
As she turned over and seen the clock stopped at 3:48 am she only thought the power most have gone off during the night. Once she was up she noticed all the clocks stopped at the same time except the pendulum clock. Amber went to take a shower and found no water. She was wondering if the whole building were experiencing the same issues.
Amber went to the lobby to ask questions and found no one around. She only found piles of sand here and there and then assumed something had happened while she was sleeping and the news report she heard the night before flashed through her mind. She became frightened and wondered if some kind of apocalyptic event happened. After checking out side she knew something was wrong. There wasn’t a person around, doors were left open and unlocked, no one was in the vehicles and some were still running and most of them were bumper to bumper or crashed into another car. All amber found were small sand piles were drivers would have been and she looked closely at the sand piles and she saw small fragments of human bones in the mix. Deep down she wanted to believe it only happened there but her instincts told her…it was the entire planet. How could everyone just vaporize off the face of Earth?
Her first thought was she wanted to go home to her mother and father who lived many miles away. Amber begins her journey home with more action and adventure and alien tendrils reaching out to her in most areas she went through…The journey home was adventurous…
Amber Lee is ready to enjoy the bank holiday weekend. She meets friends for drinks and dinner then calls it an early night as she has a headache and feels thirsty. At 3:44am she wakes up wanting a drink, she is out of bottled water in the refrigerator so she goes into the “panic room” of her uncle’s apartment to get some where they are stored. When she comes out with her bottle she sees a blue light from outside, since she still has her headache and her eyes feel gritty she closes the blinds and goes back to bed.
Waking the next morning it takes a while for her to understand that she is the only person in her apartment block, she can’t call her friends, her parents or her uncle. Scared she decides she must leave London and go home to Wales. This is the start of a very bizarre journey.
I haven’t read sci-fi very often, it is a new category for me. But I enjoyed the flow of the story, the many bizarre and adventuraous situations. I plan to read book 2.
Interesting, but the science was shallow as with a lot of sci-fi where aliens attack the Earth for resources that are abundant throughout the galaxy. Hydrogen is the most available element in the universe; huge clouds are everywhere. Add a little oxygen--water. Also, millions of comets and small moons have frozen as well as liquid oceans. These can be collected without going to war with another species.
Of course, that would make a boring story. So, forget the science and put people in difficult and scary situations against the unknown. It almost clicked in Vaporized; in the next volume, things may happen. I would encourage everyone to give the author a read and judge for yourself.
I quite enjoyed this book, even though there are some things I disagree with. Most especially was Amber's packing skills. You don't have to be a prepper to know that water (and a weapon - flour in this case) are more important than ANYTHING as ridiculous as bras & shoes! She knew how to start a boat motor from watching television shows but didn't know to pack mostly water? She sure got lucky an awful lot, too. The story itself was great. Very interesting and quite terrifying a concept. It's a fast read & was entertaining. I did not appreciate the cliffhanger ending. In the end, it was definitely worth reading simply because it's a good, strong story.
Really different and creative. You feel the intrepid despair and loneliness as it escalates with the heroine. She survives calamity after calamity and understandably enters into a panic mode where some of the decisions were not very good and that shows. You root for her though and I felt the decisions at the end of this book were suspect. Hence four stars but I guess you need a physics teacher's mind to reason out some good survival and actions in book 2?
I enjoyed this very much. You have to forgive the many repetitions, you will really like this. I never would have thought about using water against us. Can't wait for the next book, which I have and will now read. Ruby
Well written...what happens when aliens start taking and vaporizing all the water and taking ever t single man , woman and child?.. Hardly anyone survives
