Susie May does it again! And this one, folks, has it all: nail-biting suspense, edge-of-your-seat danger, heart-stopping romance, self-sacrificing heroism, but don't forget uplifting inspiration - so many incredible moments of breakthrough that will inspire your own life!
Reader, you will not be disappointed, and bonus: you are guaranteed to find at least one nugget of wisdom to encourage your own journey. It’s the Susie May way!
Highlightables:
- Spenser and Emily were just wonderful together: sweet and tender, but with an undeniable chemistry. Everything about their relationship with real and honest and relatable.
- The mystery/suspense plot line that had me guessing to the very last minute!
- The return of Conner Young (I just loved him from SMW’s Montana (Summer of Fire) Series (book 2)) Seeing him “large and in charge”, in a leadership role that fit him so well, was just icing on the cake. Plus, wow, his advice was on-point!!!! He’s such a “father” and I adore him! (And now, here I am over here, crossing my fingers that we’ll get some additional updates on other past characters we loved, as we go through this 6-book series?? More, Susie and team, please!)
- The two unlikely “heroes”, who are each fighting their own internal conflict - but the WAY each of those two main character’s internal conflict played out across the pages was pure gold - I just love the nuggets of wisdom and moments of personal growth that Susie May weaves into her stories, so that we can ALL take hold. So often, in her stories, the quotes I highlight are the ones I want to keep for my own life. And this book was no exception.
Notable Quotables: (And yes, both of these nuggets were from the always amazing “Uncle” Conner.)
- “Emily. Fear is believing that evil is in control of your life. Your future. But I happen to know that you are a woman of faith. And faith says that God is the one in charge of your life.”
- “Fear wins when it makes you do something stupid. When it makes you act outside of wisdom. God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.”
Great advice for any of us! And that’s the beauty of Susie May’s writing - not only do we get a front row seat to a love story between two main characters, but we also get a window into the greater love story happening all around us - between a loving God and all of humanity. Thank you, Susie May, for the many layers of your stories, to which you give tender attention - we, your readers, are "here for it"! And I for one, am so excited about this new series! Bring it on! (Or rather - strike the match!)
