When it comes to this thing called life, everyone has a role to play, but what happens when you want to go off script?
Iyana is a 26-year-old actress and soon to be a recipient of a Golden Globe Award. Her name is well known in Hollywood as one of the greats. However, when she seeks the lead role in an upcoming urban movie, the director and producers don’t believe she has the life experience to play the part. Iyana becomes determined to prove them wrong, so she sets out to learn about the street life.
Omani X is a 30-year-old drug lord who has amassed wealth and power in his city of Clarksville, Tennessee, yet it’s not enough to satisfy him. His closest friend, Zilla, who feels Omani has already accomplished everything he dreamed about, wants him to leave the streets behind and move out to LA, where he himself hopes to one day be a filmmaker, a dream he’s afraid to share with his closest friend.
Perfect seating at the award show of the year brings Omani and Iyana together, as if by some kind of twisted fate. After suspecting that Omani would be the perfect muse to learn about the street life, Iyana convinces him to bring her into his world, where she realizes there are no scripts, and there is no one to yell ‘cut’.
Drugs, death, assassination attempts, crooked politics, and constant street wars inject Iyana with a full dose of the streets. She’s forced to make decisions she never imagined facing, especially when rivals seek to eliminate Omani along with anyone in his circle.
Despite being a cautious and calculating man, who has managed to stay off the radar of the FBI, which is determined to bring him down, his luck may run out when they send an undercover agent to bring him down by any means necessary.
Will Omani’s world be too much for Iyana to handle? Or will she stick beside him to take on a role that’s bigger than every film in Hollywood? Will she remain one of the biggest names in Hollywood? Or will she become lost in her own True Fiction?
Wow! So I had the privilege of reading this authors debut novel “New to the Streets” which was great and I appreciated the raw and genuine grit he put in to create a project that I would love to see on the big screen… but oh my, his pen game just gets better and better.
Iyana whom is a Hollywood actress whom is destined to be the greatest yet she lacks certain life experience that would give her the edge she needs to execute a new role.
Omani is a kingpin that has it all. He has made his way to the top in the street game yet is not truly happy because he wants out of this life. He has always had dreams of being a filmmaker. With the FBI on his tail his dreams have never been able to be his priority.
At this point, I am like these to have exactly what each other need except there are huge risk that come with them both intertwining their lives. Well the stars have aligned as they are put into close proximity to one another by a perfect seating arrangement at an award show.
Will these two risk it all to have it all? Or will the stakes be just too high for them? With fate, what is meant to be will be.
This was a wild and crazy ride that I loved every minute of. It had my eyes bucked while clutching my pearls. I believe I ate all my book snacks because my anxiety was on full blast lol.
I hope you read this novel and support this brother and his writing journey. Amazing work Author Kold.
This book was absolutely freaking amazing. One of the best books I have read in a while and read in the year of 2025 so far. I felt as if this Author put something addicting into this book because it had me hooked from beginning to end with the plot.
The plot was incredible and surrounded around a female main character named Iyana who is an award winning actress in Hollywood.
Iyana is determined to move up the latter in Hollywood and prove to the world and industry that she isn’t just any normal actor but she is a DIVERSE Actor who play all roles including a role where she has to play a female from the street life even though Iyana has never lived that life. Iyana is from the suburbs and has zero experience in that lifestyle.
But she’s determined.
So she does whatever it takes to learn street life an order to prove to Hollywood she can act the role. Even if it means putting her life in danger with a kingpin to learn first hand.
Together Iyana and Kingpin named Omani take us on a wild emotional rollercoaster while she’s learning first hand. And man is this a wild ride that is worth it!
When I tell you this book had everything—action, intrigue, money, questions that kept me flipping pages, and moments that hit me right in my feelings! KOLD took us deep into these streets and let us know real quick that we might not be ready for what’s coming.
But listen, I was fully lost in delulu land the entire time I was reading. The characters? Oh, they definitely had me giving them the side-eye more than once, but at the end of the day, I was locked in and completely invested.
If you want to see the type of heat KOLD is bringing to the table, don’t hesitate—just jump in. This one was a ride! 🔥
