Jessica Roth dumped her boyfriend, moved to New York and wanted desperately to start her new life off with a bang - a literal mind-blowing, soul-shaking night of pure, raw, memory making sex.
She thought her one time chance encounter with attorney, Nathan Moore, in a hotel room would become a jumping point for her exciting, single and adventurous life in the city.
One night turned into two, into four, and into more – always at the same place, always at the same time – no last names, no personal details, and absolutely no complications.
What Jessica doesn't count on is that in Nathan's world boundaries are made to be pushed.
He wanted her in ways he promised he never would. She wanted him in ways she couldn't admit.
When their lives ultimately collide outside the walls of the hotel room, Jessica is forced to face the truth about the only man who has ever made her pulse race and her body ache with unadulterated pleasure.
PULSE - Part Two
Nathan promised Jessica just one thing during those nights in his hotel room – sex unlike anything she had experienced before. She thought it would be simple, but with a man like Nathan, that’s not possible. He was complex, determined and too tempting to resist.
When her life intersects with his in the most unexpected way, she realizes that fate and chance don’t exist in his world. When Nathan wants something, or someone, he’ll have it, regardless of the cost.
As Jessica confronts the past she ran away from, the present that consumes her and what it all means for her future, one brief moment changes absolutely everything.
There is no one who can shield her from what happens next.
PULSE - Part Three
The story continues...
Jessica wanted to believe Nathan was a changed man. The lust filled promises he made in bed are no match for the reality that she's now holding in the palm of her hand. Sex drives men like Nathan Moore. She suspected it, then experienced it and now there's absolutely no denying it.
She knows what the right thing to do is. He knows that he's never met anyone like her.
Jessica struggles to forget him as Nathan's desire for her consumes him. His compulsive need to possess her pushes him in ways that will change them both forever.
Just how far is Nathan Moore willing to go to have the one woman he claims he can't live without?
PULSE - Part Four NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
The conclusion to The Pulse Series...
Jessica Roth thought she'd found the one man who could fulfill her in every way. He was gorgeous, controlling, amazing in bed and said everything that she desperately wanted to hear. That was, until she heard him say the one thing she never suspected was true.
Nathan Moore says he has his reasons for doing the things that break her heart. She knows that she can't continue to live in a world where nothing makes sense.
As Jessica weaves her way through a maze of lies, half-truths and coincidences, she begins to see everyone in her world for who they really are. Old friends become the enemy, new friends become allies and the one man she can't be close to, becomes the only person who can give her what she really needs.
They promised each other there would be no complications. It's a promise neither of them can keep.
Please note: PULSE, the entire series, is included in this bundle.
Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.
She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.
I bought the 4 book set and unfortunately only made it through book 2. I really wanted and tried to get into it, but just couldn't. I love erotic romance and enjoy a hot steamy sex scene, however this was just a lot of quick "fucking" with no substance. By the beginning of book 3 Nathan still had no character detail and very little was known about Jessica. No storyline just a lot of repeated quick "fuckings"
I feel like i have an awful case of whiplash! Jessica spends The ENTIRE (that is not an exaggeration) THE ENTIRE book, judging old Nathan and calling him an asshole and breaking up with him and fucking him... IN THE SAME SCENE!!!????!!!!
FFS! I totally get that Nathan was doing shit to make us believe the worst of him - I totally get how Jessica could be upset and call him out on his bullshit BUT FOR FUCKS SAKES, what I ABSOLUTELY COULD NOT FUCKING STOMACH was how Jessica couldn't
OH FUCK I CAN"T EVEN TYPE I'm SO FUCKEN IRRITATED
How Jessica couldn't get his fingers out of her vagina long enough to articulate that she was pissed and hurt by his actions. Every time! EVERY. FUCKING. TIME (and there were a lot) Jessica tried to rip Nathan an new one (and she really did go in guns blazing, i'll give the bitch that)but she couldn't finish it because she was too busy letting him give her another fucking orgasm!!!!!!!
uh, what?
Now i don't know about y'all, but if I suspect my man of fucking around on me (not even suspect, where I firmly believe I HAVE CAUGHT HIM RED FUCKING HANDED!!) there is NO WAY in hell I am am going to let him shove his fingers in my panties and get me off not even 3 mins after busting his ass... NO MATTER HOW FUCKING HOT HE IS!!
Dumb Bitches like Jessica should be shot, in the head... Just for being that fucking STUPID!!!
...and don't get me started on that FUCKING best Friend of hers... How old are these two, 12???????!!!!! URGH!!!!
I'm so pissed off by this Horseshit, I don't think I could give Deborah BladonDeborah Bladon another go, even though I enjoyed Vain - The Complete Series as much as i did.
This shit has just left a bad taste in my mouth! (and a cramp in my arse!)
After reading the Vain series and liking it,I purchased the complete Pulse series on kindle. So keep in mind that I read it as one novel rather than a series of novellas. I would never put this series in the romance genre because, clearly, there was no romance involved. Jess is an aspiring chef and Nathan is a womanizing a$$hole lawyer. They meet at a bar and come to a mutually beneficial arrangement to have no strings sex. I have never read about a more pathetic female character in my life. I can't count the number of times Jess barged into Nathan's office or home just to tell him that they were over which was really just an excuse to have sex with him "for the LAST time" over and over and over again. All they did was have sex; there was no getting to know you at any point in the story. There was no emotional connection between the characters at all...no meaningful conversations or basis for the relationship but sex. The sex scenes started out steamy but became increasingly repetitive over the course of the series. This series was like the worst of the television soap operas where every conceivable misunderstanding and bad thing happens and everyone is so interconnected that it begins to seem a bit incestuous. I don't understand the appeal of this series...I definitely won't be reading Impulse. Honestly, if I could go back and un-read this series, I would.
This book is by far Deborah Blandon at her best , i love it , and to think that i used to find the Nathan Character a bit borring in the first series "Obsessed" who kenw right ?!
Desperate to change her life, Jessica escapes to the big city to live the life. First on her list, is a one night stand. When Nathan meets Jessica, he is fixated on her. Their first night together does not go according to plan, but when they do cross the line, the chemistry is explosive. Nathan is a huge A$$hole and a womaniser. Jessica falls for his bull$$it stories time and time again. They seem to take one step forward and then ten steps back. The relationship seems to be doomed from the beginning and just when you think she can trust him, he seems to drop another unpleasant surprise on her. The story takes you on an emotional roller coaster and at times I found myself disliking Jessica for not having a stronger backbone. I despised Nathan for his arrogance and the way he treated Jessica. Yet I understood that they were so addicted to one another. Can these two ever be truthful and commit to a relationship? Or has too much damage been done? Is it time for Jessica to hang up her chef’s apron and go home? Or is it time for Nathan to grow up and show his full house of cards and claim the woman who has captured his heart? Reviewed for Hot books and Sassy Girls book blog
Not my cup of tea and I don't know if I'll be reading Impulse to be hones, this was just problem after problem, this type of narrative is why I don't like same couples series, they can't just be happy for more that 5 minutes.
Almost every character was toxic, and by the sinopsis of the next one they still toxic. I thought that I was really going to enjoy this series, but it never came.
Nathan was just plain toxic, manipulative, controlling and much more. Jessica, she's I don't know. She was a victim but sometimes it felt like she was the villain to, not to say that Nate was a villain, just they are toxic that's it.
I usually like this author but this one was a big miss. Lots of sex, little substance. Gah. The h moves to NYC without a plan and OF COURSE lands her dream job, with no experience. Totally unrealistic.
The H was an arrogant & controlling jerk and the h was a whiny brat who couldn't stick with a decision. I must stay away from you because you're bad for me. Nah, one more boink. Oh bonks over she's out. Rinse and repeat like a DOZEN TIMES.
Both characters annoyed the heck out of me and it was a chore to slog thru to the HEA. SO MUCH DRAMA. So little character development. Oh and the Grammar errors. Needs a second proofreader.
Really wanted to like this book but couldn’t. Reader never really gets to know the characters other than, they have great sex together! That’s all they do...have great sex together. No getting to know each other before or during the relationship. Female distrusts male lead throughout entire book, until the very end. There is a teaser to entice you to read next book which is from male pov and continues the story but I wasn’t interested enough to continue reading about the characters.
I could not make sense of Nathan. He didn't seem to have any defining characteristics and he didn't make sense in relation to how he'd been previously introduced. Had a hard time setting aside the reality of emotionally abusive relationships in order to get into this one.
If all you want to read is endless sex, this is your book. Not much story here. I read this years ago and clearly forgot what this story was, or I wouldn’t have re-read it.
I love your most recent books and am going back reading some of your older ones. I find these complicated and without alot of substance compared to your newer books. Its all about learning I suppose.
Love the series books but prefer getting them in a Boxset. The Pulse Boxset I couldn’t put down and I love how you get a cliffhanger in parts 1, 2 and 3 with part 4 the conclusion. Brill.
Pros: lots of steamy sex scenes. Cons: no character in this story is likeable or has any discernible personality, unless “red-flag-waving creep” is a personality type.
First, I have to say that I absolutely love Bladon. I’ve read everything she’s ever given us and I’ve not regretted reading a single page. She’s a great author, the sort of author I’d like to be one day soon. She has a habit of giving me characters I can’t help but love and plots that I completely lose myself in. There’s almost always a cliff hanger that often leaves me crying or staring into space in shock. It’s always an emotional rollercoaster with Deborah Bladon. Nathan is one of my top blokes – he’s on my fictional boyfriend list. It might have something to do with the suits... in fact it definitely has something to do with the suits. I love a man in a suit. It all starts with a one night stand; Jessica has just moved to New York. It’s perhaps the best sex of her life but it’s only for one night right? Except one night turns into two, three, four... they meet in the same place, at the same time. They keep their emotions out of it; no last names. It’s uncomplicated. But what was supposed to stay in that one hotel room end up taking over their lives. Nathan wants Jessica in that way that every woman in the world wants to be wanted. He’s determined, unwilling to yield, no matter the cost. He’s a little bit older than Jess but that’s not really a turn off. The rules change as Nathan deals with his changing feelings; jealousy, want, desire, need... There are secrets, as always. Nathan is almost horribly arrogant but his sexuality is so raw and intense that you can’t really help wanting him. I love Jessica too. She’s a heroine to rave about and she definitely drives Nathan crazy.
Nathan and Jessica’s story exposes her naïveté, his secrecy, and toxic amounts of jealousy in a mutual sex fest that took the place of character development and a well written storyline. Jessica’s immaturity and insecurity at 23 made it difficult for me to believe that she would be the equal of 31 year old Nathan but their sexual needs don’t leave many opportunities for scintillating conversation. Nathan prevaricates, lies, and expertly avoids answering direct questions and Jessica fumes but she can’t get past her libido to walk away from their toxic relationship throughout most of the story. I do have to admit that the characters do finally learn to communicate with each other and their relationship evolves but in one more dramatic twist this series ends in, gasp, another cliffhanger. I can’t help but feel that the author’s constant use of cliffhangers is strictly a tool used to sell more books rather than an effective way to tell a story.
If you read Obsessed you will get a taste of Nathan who is the main male character in this serial. From his interactions with Ivy, in Obsessed you think he seems like a decent man. Think again..... How he is portrayed in Pulse is quite different. He is a sl*t, manwhore, pig, disgusting, sex craved lunatic - to name a few. I could go on but I think you get the picture. I think that these are nice words to describe him. How he meets a nice girl like Jessica and falls for her is still difficult to believe. I guess good sex can lead to love. REALLY..... If you are looking for sex, more sex and even more sex than this serial is for you. The only way Jessica and Nathan seem to talk is through the sheets. They have some really interesting twists and turns in their story. Often with Jessica having tantrum and running away and then running right back to Nathan to have more sex. The 6 degrees of separation and how everything plays out and works itself out is rather amazing.
Jessica escaped to the big city to accomplish big things. One of those things was a one night stand. But what was supposed to be the night of her life ends with surprising results leaving them both hungry to explore the possibilities.
When random encounters with Nathan become emotionally unfulfilling she wants to deepen the relationship triggering one unpleasant surprise after another showing her that her relationship with him may have actually been doomed from the beginning.
Are the issues surrounding her relationship with Nathan enough to have her abandon her dreams of making it as a chef in New York? Can the relationship with Nathan be fixed?
This story takes you on an emotional roller coaster and leaves you thinking Jessica really needs to choose better friends. However you get pulled in to Nathan and Jessica's relationship because even though they can both see how wrong some of their issues are they are addicted to each other.
I've heard so many good things about this author so I decided to give her books a try. I've read 2 of her series and don't know what all the fuss is about. Her stories are incredibly choppy, the characters don't have enough dialogue, and the story's doesn't allow the reader to get to know them. Girl meets man for hook up, they say only once, however turns into numerous times. Don't get me wrong there were a few funny parts and I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but it just sucked. I'm sorry to say that but it did. I generally dont listen to reviews as I like to form my own opinion but it really sucked. I feel like we never really get to know the heroine and the hero is mysterious to the end and even then we don't find out who he really is or what he's about. Ugh so I don't know if I'll give her another chance.
Damn. Nathan's final words.... wow. Not what I expected. Seems there's alot more to our sweet and innocent Jessica. What skeletons hide in her closet?
I liked this series, I read Vain 1&2 before any other books by Deborah Bladon, so I was curious of Mr One-Night-Stand-Who Fucks-So-Good. He was mentioned by Alexa, as the best sex of her life. And since I was so taken with that series I knew I had to meet the man, the legend.
Needless to say, I enjoyed his story. At times I felt like slapping him for Jessica, but there were times I felt like throat punching her too. I will definitely be reading "Impulse" when it's released. I want more!
Loved the story line, plot & all the characters except dimwit Jessica. She's great until she starts going back and forth to ask stupid why/when/who questions knowing the answer didn't matter cause she would end up right back with another one as an excuse to see Nathan. Most women would wait to give the guy who screwed up a chance to come after them. Especially if they screwed up majorly more than once. Still a worthwhile & entertaining read. If Jessica wouldn't have been so spineless I would have given Pulse an easy 5 stars.
OK, while I enjoyed the story, I could have strangled Jess at times. It's true, Nathan acted like an ass hole at times, I truly believe he just didn't know any better. Most was his past and she either needed to come to grips with it or walk away for good. Her self righteousness was ridiculous. Did he drag her forcefully to that suite? His phone was his past and truthfully Rebecca caused a lot of her heartbreak. Friendship? It seemed more like jealousy. I'm looking forward to hopefully Jessica getting some of her own medicine in Impulse.
#1 - 3,5* (3*) - 30.11.2015 #2 - 2,5* (3*) - 1.12.2015 - iritovala mě žárlivost protagonisty. Konec to trohu vytáhl, jelikož naznačil i nějaké pozadí. #3 - 2,5* (2*) - 1.12.2015 - nižší hodnocení, jelikož to bylo prostě průměrné. A zbytečný cliffhanger. #4 - 2,5* (2*) - 1.12.2015 - Kdybych mohla říct, že je to alespoň uzavřené... ale lákačka na další sérii? Seriously? A to ten začátek vypadal tak nadějně. Alespon to bylo relativně krátké a četlo se to rychle. A i když k sérii mám zatraceně hodně výhrat, Bladon psát umí, nejspíše proto jsem četla, i když mě to iritovalo čím dál víc.
Im just not sure how much I liked it. Jessica annoyed the ever loving shit out of me with her "I hate you, dont trust you, but will repeatedly fuck your brains out" attitude that literally went on from the first page to the last. This is a first for me. Usually I can find SOMETHING likeable about the heroine. It just lacked. I guess theirs a book to follow up, explaining why she had such trust issues....but I doubt I'll read it.
Deborah Bladon knows how to suck a reader in. Absolutely couldn't put the series down and as soon as I found out most of her books are intertwined, it took me about a week to read them all. Strongly suggest this series and the author in general.
I really enjoyed Nathan. He's powerfully wicked and he's a likeable character. Jessica, to me, seemed a bit neurotic. I wanted to offer her some Xanax or some other type of anti anxiety meds. The constant push and pull of her personality was a bit extreme. Overall, I liked the story and I recommend it as a good read.
Good series, some mystery, bad boy(has a f.pad), woman who has no problem saying no, just can't seem to stay away from the guy... :--) Hero reminded me of Jessie, "This Man" due to his obsession for the heroine... Also thought this was funny at times which always adds to the romance. He and/or She just doesn't get the other and makes for some interesting banter. Enjoy!
