❛ It sounds like a lawn mower, the tapping of a knife against a cutting board, a popcorn machine. The waves wash in and out of the background. ❜
❛ There’s a certain loneliness that comes with being the only one who remembers something. ❜
"People who don’t care about you anymore shouldn’t still get to hold on to pieces of you."
To remember someone is to recognize who they were in your life, whether good or bad, big or small. To erase this truth, no matter how painful it might be, is to create holes in your life story that you will inevitably fall into, dragging others in with you. Because the fact of the matter is that those who do the erasing forget that there are people on the other side who still remember ; and when you break the chain of remembering together, you cannot be surprised when everybody starts to fall.
For a long time, i wondered what the point of anything is when nothing lasts forever. Not even close to forever. The things you cherish most in the world can vanish in the blink of an eye, no matter how tightly you hold on, no matter how hard you try to make sure it stays the same.
