“He’s never met a rule he liked.”

Defiant. Rebellious. Disobedient.
Wren had been called that and worse since the moment he could openly express his hatred of Nexus and everything it stood for. But he played along. Not for them. But for the animals he helped along the way and the one boy who made those words sound like compliments instead of insults. Until they took him away.

Loveable. Inspiring. Exemplary.
Teddy had been seen as perfect since the moment he started training. He wasn’t perfect, though. He had broken only one rule, but it was the biggest one of them all. He fell for another cursebreaker. He gave his heart to the one he wasn’t allowed to. And they both paid the price for it.

Forced apart, they spent a decade loving the memory of each other, until a shocking case brings them back together. Will their love prevail, or will the Little Bird be forced to leave his Teddy Bear behind?

Safety info, content warnings and tropes down below.

I was so incredibly excited for this book. Wren has been my favorite character in the series, and I was so happy to receive an ARC. Sadly, it just didn't deliver for me. It was very slow in the beginning, to the point where it didn't feel like the book actually started until around 30%. If I didn’t love Wren (and these authors) so much, I would have stopped reading before this point. It did really pick up both in the relationship and in the external plot, and while I enjoyed some of it, it was simply too little, too late for me. I don't know if Wren and Teddy actually had very little time together in the book or it just felt like it, but most of the book was spent on the external plot and I remember very little of it. I was confused about the villain’s motives and actual goals, and I didn't understand what the heck they were doing while being villainous.

It had some great scenes and a few moments between Wren and Teddy that I loved, but I’m really sad to say that this was a miss in general for me. Hopefully the next one works great, and I will still continue to read (and love) this author duo.

Thank you to the authors for the ARC.

In my world the sun used to rise twice. Outside of the window and in my arms. Now it doesn’t rise at all. That was, until I saw you again. I hope my brief presence in your life again wasn’t an eclipse. Still your Teddy.

Their fingers slotting together like they’d never been apart. Wren’s skin felt like all of his dreams coming true at the same time. Like all of the ink from his journals had seeped out and shaped the Wren from his memories right in front of him.

This series is just phenomenal! I adore AM's writing and I swear it gets better with each book.
Wren and Teddy just about broke my heart. Torn apart by those who use them for their powers, it didn't stop them from loving the one who brought them peace, solace and comfort in such a tough, unloving place to grow up.
Meeting again causes an influx of intense emotions for both men but someone is still watching, ensuring that they stay apart. With the cases that are building in both of their towns, it becomes necessary for them to work together. Wren travels to Arcstead, Teddy's hometown, with much trepidation but his main concern are the animals he lives to protect who are being harmed. Teddy may have been working and living his life since he was taken away from Wren, but he's been a shell of himself. Seeing Wren and getting to be close to him may be his chance to know him again... Maybe even see if they can get back to how they were.
The case that the two men, and their teams, are working, is quite the mystery with people acting crazy, getting on drugs that come from animal venom and is mixed with a curse. It has many moments of tension, danger, and revelations that lead to more questions.
Wren, bless his black cat heart, just calls to me. We both don't really want much to do with people, with certain exceptions, would much rather be surrounded by the animals we love. Especially Blu and Sable! The way that Teddy and Wren feel about and understand each other is on such a deep level. It's so emotional to read the pain that they have experienced, together and individually, and then to see it continue. Teddy's is ongoing with the continual harassment and abuse he has been experiencing at the hands of someone from NEXUS, the institution that taught and now uses them as cursebreakers.
Ugh. This is most probably my favourite of the series so far, absolutely fantastic. The author's writing immediately draws you in and keeps you engaged with the second chance relationship, intensely interesting characters, and the case that keeps everyone guessing and desperate to keep everyone safe. The families that they have become a part of are hugely important to them both and it's great getting to know Teddy's, especially Echo, though I still need cannot wait to read Black's and hope that it involves Cyrus!
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

I think the authors wrote something extraordinary special here. In the characters and the multiple plots, one of which is ongoing.

Rating: 4.75🌈

Once Bitten (Cursebreakers, Inc. Book 4) by A.M. Rose just continues to show what an absolutely fantastic series Cursebreakers is. Dark, heartbreaking at times, and thrilling in its weirdly beautiful, damaged characters, Once Bitten is up there among my favorites so far.

It’s been a while since the series has had an update but it doesn’t take long to dive back deep into this dark landscape of brilliant psych damaged children, then men, brought up in a government institution and then put in a forced family setting that would “balance” their talents while using their abilities for government missions. No matter what age they were.

Here we get two family houses of talents , one for each city, who will have to work together because of the sheer size of the cursed problem and organization that they are facing.

It’s also the element that will bring Wren, whose talent is that of talking to animals, removing their curses from them, and Teddy, a cursebreaker who loved Wren when they were young together. Forced apart by NEXUS, that government agency that had control over them, both Wren and the readers finally get the truth about the secret to Wren’s history and the heartbreak he’s endured.

We get new fantastic characters from Teddy’s family. The twins, Saint and the scary Eerie especially to the fragile Echo, I loved Teddy’s family as much as Wren’s. That includes Wren’s animals like Blu and Sable.

Once Bitten is the best yet. Horrifying, devastatingly cruel and tragic, multiple intriguing storylines and Wren and Teddy’s story, interwoven with heartbreaking handwritten letters that span the years they were separated.

I think the authors wrote something extraordinary special here. In the characters and the multiple plots, one of which is ongoing.

I can’t wait for this to continue.

Fantastic work by the team that is A.M. Rose. Highly recommended!

Gosh Wren and Teddy broke my freaking heart. The loss they felt when they were separated never went away. Years and years they spent apart, growing into adults without the one person by their side they longed for. So many moments they didn't get to share. So many memories missed out on. It really made me understand why Wren's hate for Nexus existed and there was no way he was changing his mind.

Teddy is a pleaser. He wants everyone around him to be fine and dandy, all the while he tends to neglect himself. Seeing Wren again throws him for a loop. He knows what he wants, but he also knows that he could be putting many other things at risk if anyone found out about them. Relationships between Cursebreakers are forbidden. If his team found out and had to choose between keeping their secret or ratting him out, it could lead to worse repercussions. This man is so conflicted he even tries to keep Wren in his life by offering friendship. As if that would ever work with two people so in love they've never moved on for over a decade.

"𝙸 𝚍𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚠𝚊𝚗𝚝 𝚝𝚘 𝚋𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚏𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚍. 𝙸 𝚍𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠 𝚑𝚘𝚠 𝚝𝚘 𝚍𝚘 𝚊𝚗𝚢𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚎𝚕𝚜𝚎 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚕𝚘𝚟𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞."

I was so happy when Teddy finally stopped fighting himself. Wren isn't a child anymore. He's more than capable of protecting not only himself, but his beloved Teddy. He proves it over and over again. I especially loved it when he put the man of Teddy's nightmares in his place and then out of his life for good.

The mystery of the anonymous texter took a turn I did not see coming. I'm actually kind of bummed about it. I really hope the Eye Cult gets what is coming to them in future books. We only have a few Cursebreakers left, unless this duo decides that Teddy's collective gets their own series. I would not be mad at that, especially if we get Eerie's story. There's nothing not fun about a psychopath in a pair of heels.

I hope you're ready to cry in this one because it is the perfect high angst second chance romance! All the fun of the Cursebreakers mysteries we have come to expect from AM Rose with all the heartbreaking, beautiful romance too. And wait til you get to the spice, wow! I was actually blown away by this book.

Wren has always been my favourite of the OG Cursebreakers and I was so excited to finally read his story. AM did not let me down! I loved his slightly feral, deeply emotional and always loyal character. His story - which I knew from the preview in A Thousand Cuts was going to be a cryfest - was so sad and so wonderful! As much as I adored Wren (and I really did), his deeply romantic, cinnamon roll to the extreme partner Teddy is actually my favourite. I LOVE him. I was to EAT him.

And the two of them together? *Fans self*. The chemistry is off the charts. The longing is deeeeeep. And the bedsheets are BURNING.

Teddy and Wren are the epitome of the "'you know I can't actually get you pregnant right?' 'Well try harder'" meme. Wren wants to be claimed and BRED. damnnnnn.

And of course in the background is the ever intriguing mystery case - this episode we have cursed animals being used for nefarious purposes, as always linked back to the mysterious eye cult and to Nexus in different ways.

Our babies are put through hell, I cried a whole lot, things looked dire but as always we get the most satisfying HEA. Absolutely loved the whole thing and it's tied with A Thousand Cuts for series fave for me.

I had the absolute pleasure of both beta and ARC reading this book. As always, the opinions are voluntary and remain my own.

This is Book 4 on the Cursebreakers Inc. Series and they do have to be read in order!! There is an overarching plot that goes through each book, the couples of the book get their HEA in each one though 🖤 This books also isn't very dark but there are some heavy topics so check the CWs before going in! Also as a heads up Wren has 2 animal companions and they are both FINE through the whole story!

🌶🌶.5

Wren has been dead set against Nexus (the organization that trains and controls the Curse Breakers) since they took him from his family to train him. While at the institution though Wren met Teddy who was basically the other half of his soul, but again Nexus struck and separated Teddy and Wren stating their only loyalty should be to Nexus and the team they get placed with. Flash forward 10 years (YES 10!!) Teddy has found Wren and just wants to explain that he never had a choice in leaving Wren and to this day he is still paying a price but they also have a case they need to work on which might be tied into both of them more than they are aware of.
Oof these two guys 🥹 this was the type of second chance Romance that I can handle! Where they were forced apart due to forces outside of their control but now that they are back together they aren't letting each other go! Our heart just breaks for these guys but the little families they have made along the way and that support them even now help 🖤 I love this series and the more it unfolds the more I get sucked in to this world! I can't wait to see where we go next.

Wren’s Story At Last!

I’ve been dying for Wren’s book, and it was 100% worth the wait! Once Bitten is an absolute emotional rollercoaster that totally tugged at my heartstrings. A.M. Rose is such a talented and inventive storyteller, the way they build their worlds is incredible, but it’s their ability to write deep emotion that really blows me away.

When Wren and Teddy (his soulmate) reunite after ten years apart, their grief is palpable. You can truly feel how grey and flat the world had become for them during that decade, and how much they’ve missed one another. Teddy is such a breath of fresh air, despite everything he’s been through, his kindness and warmth shine through. He has such a gentle soul, and seeing him be so giving to Wren is honestly beautiful. Wren, on the other hand, is positively feral. He has no social graces, trusts hardly anyone, loves Teddy passionately, and is as stubborn as a mule. I love him as a character.
Then we have Kellen. A member of Nexus who has bullied Teddy for years, he is easily one of the vilest, most punchable villains I’ve ever encountered. He is everything our Curse Breakers aren't, cruel, unhinged, and just plain creepy.
Watching Wren finally use his voice and face his past was so powerful. He’s such a contrary 'little bird', and seeing him finally lower his guard with his found family was incredibly moving. A.M.  has a real gift for making you feel every emotion experienced by their characters.

This story is probably one of my favorites, I reckon this is A.M. Rose’s best series yet. They have a knack for creating morally grey characters who are so well rounded and fiercely loyal that you can't help but root for them. I’m already excited for both Black's and Midas's stories. I can’t wait to see more of this universe!

This was one of my most anticipated books of the year, and it went way beyond expectations. This book was everything I have come to love about an AM Rose book. I cried and sobbed and laughed and smiled and hurt and raged. I’m so beyond sad that it’s over, because I loved being back in the Cursebreakers world.

Wren and Teddy are two characters who are very easy to love. I adored getting to know Wren more and seeing the world through his eyes. And I enjoyed getting to meet Teddy and finally understand why Wren loves him so much. And seeing their heartbreak (and my heart breaking alongside theirs) and reunion was so special. There were so many moments that are stuck in my brain, and I never want to forget them. Tender and sweet and funny.. they had banter and a familiarity with each other that came back like second nature, even after years apart.

We also get moments with the other Cursebreakers- those who loved Ash, Fix and Hart from the previous books won’t be disappointed. And we get a lot of really fun moments with Black and Cyrus, as well as Midas and Avery.

We also get a whole new batch of babies in the form of Teddy’s Cursebreaker family, and I absolutely ate that all up!!! A and M are so great at creating fun and unique characters, and I have no doubt readers will fall in love with each of these new characters.

To wrap it all up… UGH THIS WAS SO GOOD. And now I’m sad it’s over. I need a time machine so I can have the next book now please!!!!

Great story, so glad Teddy and Wren finally got their hea. Got some clues regarding the eye cult too so that's interesting! This is one of my favorite series. I love how distinct each character is on both teams (and Avery). Even with my terrible memory I only had to look back at the previous books a couple times. This was a good length too!! It seems that, at least in MM, authors tend to write shorter books, all it's always a treat to get one that's over 100k words. At least, it's a treat with these authors, they write such interesting stories.

Did have a couple questions, very minor and nothing that impacted my enjoyment of the story, except that some of the sentences had confusing pronoun usage and lengthy separations between noun and particle.

The questions: Is this supposed to be literal? "Colors bloomed across his tongue in shades of emerald green and vibrant yellows." I can't always tell if something is supposed to be literal, and I'm not sure how he would've known what colors were on his tongue.

"They relayed the message to Blu a few times, making sure he had it down before letting him fly away, a knot tied in the pit of his stomach." Did Blu have something literally tied to him? That doesn't seem necessary since they gave the verbal instruction?

In the sneak peek, how could Midas tell that Avery spoke gently?

4.5 stars, rounded up!

A.M. Rose is another one of those authors that is always so wonderfully consistent in delivering us amazing stories with a cast of loveable characters that feel very much real. This one is no different. Once Bitten is the fourth installment of the Cursebreakers, Inc series and what a great addition it is! I've been looking forward to Wren's story since I met him in the first book and it did not disappoint!

I don't want to give too much away because a big chunk of the plot is an overarching storyline that carries on throughout the series, but needless to say it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Of course, another - quite important - part of this story is the romance between Wren and Teddy. It was teased in the previous book and now we finally get their story. Their history, their pain, their intense, undeniable bond. It was so beautiful and I ached for them and it was so wonderful to see them find each other.

If you've loved this series so far, you'll no doubt love this one as well. If you're looking for an amazing urban fantasy series with a cast of diverse, quirky, wonderful characters set in a world that feels alive and magical and real and one that has a good dose of humor and banter and found family feels sprinkled in... definitely check out this series if you haven't already. I promise it's worth it!

"Once Bitten", book four in the Cursebreakers Inc series is a whole tissue type story. Quite heart wrenching. Second chance, forbidden love... arghh. You get pining (and some tears) starting with two, written but never mailed letters. They were separated as children when it was discovered they were in love. The ultimate cruelty was that for years they were only as far as a town away from each other.
From book one, this series has been a pleasure to read. A house that wants to harm you to people being injected with animal venom, the stories are original. Good quick reads. Sizzling relationships. Great found family. Twisty tension with a not so easily guessed plot. "Bitten" has all that. In a rather bittersweet fashion.
Teddy and Wren's relationship teetered very close to the edge. Honestly, I was preparing myself for a Romeo and Romeo type tragic ending. It was their second chance, but so much hurt and a little bit (a lot) of anger had to be gotten through first. And while they're working things out, some Nexus jerk hole is working against them.
The glossary at the end of the book was helpful in keeping found family straightened out. The two teams and their partners are quite a bit for brain juggling. And also fodder for several more tales.
I received an advanced readers copy and this my review.

This was not was I was expecting, but in the best way!!

Usually I find AM Rose's books to be more on the cosy side of things, but this book had so much tension and suspense that I was equally eager to find out what was going to happen, yet also afraid to find out what was coming!

Wren and Teddy are like fated souls who can't keep away now that they've finally found each other again. They've both suffered so much and seeing them get their HEA felt so rewarding. The ongoing plot with the eye cult really picked up the momentum in this story, and even though we find out so much more, there's still so much that's left unknown and I'm so curious to see what happens next.

I loved how Wren connected to the animals, and the reactions to Sable were so entertaining!

I'm already obsessed with Teddy's brothers and I so hope they're all getting stories too, especially Eerie because I love him and how unhinged he is!! I'm looking forward to getting to know more about Midas in All That Glitters, but I'm also impatiently waiting for Black's story - I'm assuming he's going to be paired with Cyrus, or at least that's the pairing I'm really hoping for...

This is the fourth book in the Cursebreakers, Inc series. This is not a standalone read. There is an overarching story line that goes through every book. Each book focuses on a different couple and what they have to do to get their HEA. This is the story of Wren and Teddy. The two met at Nexus; the organization that trains and controls all Curse Beakers. There was an immediate connect that went deep. But then through deception and corruption, the two are separated. Each one bearing the pain of the separation. It is not until ten years later that the two meet again. They are united in fighting a common enemy. This is a high angst second chance story. I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Even though it was an emotional upheaval for both Wren and Teddy, I enjoyed watching the two of them interact again after a ten year separation. All their emotions and feelings come flooding back. But of course the evil that kept them separated, isn't about to let them easily reunite again. This is their story. I really enjoyed this book. It is very well written and easy to read. It is a beautiful romance that does not shy away from the spice. I look forward to the next book by this author duo.

Great addition to the series!

I loved Once Bitten by A. M. Rose. It's the fourth book in the Cursebreakers, Inc. series. I loved Teddy and Wren's story. I totally get why Wren's was mad at Nexus for how he was treated and how they separated him from his best friend and secret boyfriend. I loved their nicknames for each other and how they interacted with the team members in their group. I seem to be especially drawn to the unhinged ones, like Eerie and Black. I also loved that Wren could talk to and understand animals, which was why he was the Cursed Animals cursebreaker of the Slatehollow team. I also loved how charismatic Teddy was and the bond he had with Saint, who was the Cursed Animal cursebreaker on his team in Arcstead. I loved how Wren dealt with the villain in this story. It was very fitting. And I was glad Gwen, the head of Nexus, got her eyes opened to the problems going on in her organization and was willing to fix them. I also loved the letters Teddy wrote to Wren and how they agreed to start at the first letter written after they were separated and read one each day until they got to when they got back together. Now I need to go back and read the rest of the series.

I read this book using the Kindle unlimited app.

Once Bitten - Cursebreakers Teddy & Wren

“I regretted that the moment I said it,” Teddy said. “I thought I was doing the right thing, but it’s hurting you, and that can never be right.” “Is it hurting you too?” Pain made Wren’s voice crack. “It kills me.” Teddy rested his forehead against Wren’s. “I don’t want to be your friend,” Wren said. “I don’t know how to do anything else but love you.”

The fourth book in AM Rose’s Cursebreakers Inc series takes us deep into the emotional attachment of Teddy and Wren, two men who loved each other for years yet are denied the opportunity to grow that love by the organization they are forced to work for.

This sad but sweet tale includes two formed group, or families, of Cursebreakers that begin to work together to solve a dangerous magical trend effecting people and animals.

While attempting to find information and a solution, Teddy and his ‘Little Bird’ Wren become work partners who bring attention to mishandlings of not only them, but members of their families.

Each character in these books has a very unique style, that helps create an exciting reading experience, even through sad and scary times. I loved their interactions!

I stumbled upon this MM urban fantasy series when I signed up for an ARC only to discover it was book four in a series! So naturally I went back to the beginning and started with book one and it did not disappoint. I’d only read one book from this author previously and I was a big fan of their writing and humour and the Cursebreakers Inc series was no exception. My only complaint is having to wait another book for Black’s story because he’s officially my favourite character! So far every book has given me something different from the last while also following a plot line that flows throughout the series but don’t get me wrong I am excited for Midas’ story next.

The Cursebreakers universe is comprised of, you guessed it, cursebreakers! Each team member specializing in their own unique brand of curse while the team finds themselves embroiled in a mystery that is changing everything they think they know about curses and working to find out who exactly is behind it and bring them to justice. From forced proximity, hate to love, even second chance romance each book gives you different levels of spice with a little sweetness sprinkled in.

This is book four in the Cursebreakers, Inc. series and I love that we finally got Wren’s story! It was heartbreakingly sad at times but also so incredibly sweet, especially Teddy and Wren’s devotion to each despite the decade long separation.

The investigation and curse breaking, with two teams involved, was top notch. It completely captured my attention making it so that I couldn’t put it down. It was so wildly imaginative and entertaining that I already can’t wait for Midas and Avery’s book, not to mention Black and Cyrus’s… and now I have a whole new team I’m feenin’ over… like Eerie (eerily similar to Black!), Saint, Trace and, of course, poor sweet little hypochondriac, Echo. I hope we get stories for all of ‘em!

Recommending this is a no brainer for anyone who loves a good paranormal mystery. You get all the excitement of the race against time together with the romance between a recently reunited cinnamon roll hero and slightly feral animal lover… it was awesome! 4.25 stars

"In my world the sun used to rise twice. Outside of the window and in my arms. Now it doesn’t rise at all."

This is the saddest one of all. Poor Wren and Teddy, young lovers torn apart by NEXUS and a very evil man that should have been a protector.

This is book 4 in the Cursebreakers, Inc. series. It's been a year since these two authors, who write under the pseudonym of A. M. Rose, created a new book in this series. The minute I heard about it I couldn't wait to read it. I might be a little obsessed with these cursebreakers. I just hope I don't have to wait another year for book 5... How two authors can work so seamlessly together, when they live countries apart, blows my mind. Kudos!!!

Don't forget to check out the little bonus story linked at the back of the book. It's pretty cute and fits Wren and Teddy perfectly.

Hurt/comfort, found family gets a little bit larger, breaking the rules, doing anything and everything to rescue your one true love

Wren and Teddy story was intense with heartbreaking moments thanks to a forced separation and it’s repercussions, filled with shenanigans, danger and adrenaline, betrayal of the ones who should have their best interests at heart, power hunger, an enemy that is made known, many revelations, and a couple of surprises along the way.
I liked the intensity of their feelings, how slowly they mended their hurt, the support they get from their families, the changes they made in their lives, as well as the things that mattered for them and that they get to keep.
The case that brought them together is a complicated one, with many intricacies and unexpected developments, as it brings to light corruption that is well established and a shake to the very fundament of a whole organisation.
While they achieved their happiness a lot of changes comes for a better future.
I really enjoyed the story and I’m looking forward to the next adventure.

Once Bitten is the 4th book in the Cursebreakers, Inc series. In my opinion this series is best read in order. This is the story of Wren and Teddy who are both cursebreakers. I couldn't put this book down once I started it because I have been waiting for Wrens story. Believe me it was worth the wait. This was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. There is plenty of angst and spice. I love the characters and world building that A. M. Rose has created for this series. Wren has always been one of my favorite cursebreakers with his feral but loyal personality. The plot was great but it was secondary to Wren and Teddy's romance in my opinion. I just wanted to hug both of these guys. This book had me crying many times but I also smiled. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads.

I have always been a fan of AM Rose and the way they write these stories, and this book is no exception.
This is Book 4 on the Cursebreakers Inc. Series and they should be read in order, because all of these stories are part of an overarching plot.
Now, Wren and Teddy ! <3 I honestly loved these babies so much and this has been a second chance romance written to perfection. I've always been a fan of longing and yarning and this book just delivers those feelings beautifully.
The way you can feel from the very first pages how Wren was yarning for Teddy is heartbreaking. This is the perfect black cat (I only love animals and very few people) vs his equally obsessed protector, who are standing against the world itself to defend and solidify their bond.

I have received an ARC from the authors but this is my honest review.

I was most looking forward to Wren's story with this series and was so excited to finally read it. Wren seemed like such a sad, lost soul and so, so sweet. I was pleasantly surprised to find that he's also a bit of a petty, feral thing. I loved every second of it. Teddy was the most adorable and so in love with his Little Bird. My heart broke for them. I don't think I've ever hated an antagonist more either. Kellan was the worst. The on-going series plot is also interesting and I loved getting little glimpses at the other guys and their partners too. I want more of Wren and Teddy and all the animals at the sanctuary, it will never be enough. Their ending was the best of HEAs. But I am also really looking forward to Midas's story next!

Wow. Just wow. This is book 4 in the series and must be read in order for the overlaying arc. Teddy and Wren were together when they were younger and fell in love. Unfortunately they were forced apart by Nexus as they were only supposed to have their minds on their work. Fast for 10 years, and Teddy and Wren meet again for the same job. There was so much history and love between them that they refused to be separated again. There was angst and heartbreak during those years, and the letters that Teddy was writing, I was sobbing while reading. This is a great book by this author and you should not miss out on this series. Well worth it.

ARC review.

As someone who hadn't read the other books in this series, I was a little confused about some of the other characters, however that didn't put me off being ABSORBED by this book. The tension, the second chance, it was delicious.

The plot was intriguing and I stayed up past my bed time to finish the book because I had to know what happened.

The spice in this is low, but this story had so much else going for it that it was until I'd finished that I realised.

I'm going straight back to the start of the series so I can know what's happened in the other stories.

We finally learn more about Wren and his past. I love that he tries to be himself, despite the pressures around him to "fall in line." Wren and Teddy's story is a little rough to read, so pay attention to content warnings. Just know that poetic justice is achieved with help of chosen family and team support. There are even changes at Nexus! The over-arching story continues. I'm looking forward to the next book.

I noted less than a dozen proofreading issues in the ARC.

This one was more intense IMO then the other ones. Wren and Teddy were lovers when they were young, but Nexus tore them apart. These books are not meant to be read as a standalone. Though we get more answers on the overreaching arch, there are still unanswered questions. After, get this, 10 years, Wren and Teddy have been brought back together to investigate a case. Their love for each other is still as strong as it was before they were torn apart. This case is based on cursed animals that are being used for evil purposes, and it is linked back to the eye cult and Nexus. I loved how Wren connects with the animals. This series will be one that I reread as I’m really enjoying it.

I received a copy of this book from the authors, and this is my honest opinion.

wow. i absolutely love it, great characters and world building. they found each other and fought to stay together even though they had years between them. i love the way wren is able to understand and help the animals he comes across, and teddy tries to hide what he feels so hard but they show up any way and his team/family are all there to help him. i love the way the book came to with the wonderful hea needed for them. keep up the grea work and can wait for more.

Oh, this one hurt so good! If you want a high angst, second chance, completely heartbreakingly beautiful romance, look no further. Wren and Teddy were utter perfection. I adored both MCs on their own, but together, their soul-mate level connection was undeniable. My heart hurt so much for what these beautiful souls were forced to go through, but the most satisfying and well-deserved HEA made sure to mend it!

Teddy and Wren, my absolute beloveds. I adore this series; like, every book so far in this series has not only had great romance stories with lovable characters, but they have also been really fun and entertaining and this book is simply no different. Teddy and Wren were made for each other, and i am so happy they got their HARD FOUGHT happy ending together. I loved meeting Teddy's cursebreaker team and i really hope that we will be getting books for them because i fear i need more of them and their brand of chaos in my life. This book also did a really good job at furthering the overarching plot in this series, everytime i think i know what's going on, something else happens that completely turns things on their head. I cannot wait for the next book in this series but this one was amazing.

Wren and Teddy had my heart as it broke for them and their forbidden situation. I needed them both be able to be whole again with each other. I so related with Wren, his preference of being with and caring for animals over any human. We'll all except sweet Teddy. Stunning world building and characters as always with this series!
