In this spicy romance from the author of Alive and Wells and Seeing Red, a jaded woman reluctantly returns to her hometown—and to the cowboy who broke her heart and drove her away.
She spent years trying to forget. He’ll do anything to make her remember.
Wells Canyon is the last place Blair Hart wants to be. Yet when her mother falls ill, she has no choice except to return to the hometown she’s avoided for over a decade. In a town so small, she knows there’s no way she can avoid the cowboy who tore her life to pieces all those years ago, but that doesn’t mean she’s prepared for the way Denver Wells can turn back time with a single smile.
Since Denver’s world came crashing down thirteen years ago, he’s somehow managed to keep his demons at bay…that is, until Blair Hart’s return knocks him from his saddle. But if he wants her back, he’ll have to prove he can be the man she needs—the same one she used to love.
Throwing herself into the role of caregiver, Blair doesn’t have the time to sift through their messy history even if she wanted to. And Denver’s going to need a lot more than his usual cowboy charm to convince Blair he’s worth a change of heart.
Don’t miss any of Bailey Hannah’s steamy Wells Ranch ALIVE AND WELLS SEEING RED CHANGE OF HART
She loves to write strong heroines and rugged men who aren’t afraid to love their woman hard.
Born and raised in small town British Columbia, she loves to add rural Canadian flair (dirt roads, rodeos, ketchup chips, and a two-four) to her stories.
She lives with her husband, daughter, two dogs, and chickens. A chronic middle-of-the-night writer, during the day Bailey can be found camping, baking sourdough, or being her daughter’s chauffeur to horseback riding lessons.
Change of Hart took me insanely long to finish 😭, and I have nothing but my slump to blame. It was enjoyable to an extent, but the length really dropped the rating for me because it was so long, and I usually do not do well with long romances, because at a certain point they let up. The writing was interesting enough for me to finish it.
Denver and Blair were good main characters, and I liked the depth that was given to them. It made everything more realistic, it was emotional at times, I won't deny that but I just wasn't invested in their story, the past and present switch didn't really hit for me, and occasionally made me want to put the book down.
As for their romance, I appreciated that there was no miscommunication. I liked that these two had a spark, and their tension and chemistry could be felt radiating off the page. The romance in this book truly stood out and is possibly the saving grace of this book for me. __ I didn't know this was book 3, but if I enjoy it, I'll read the other two as well. In my cowboy romance era🙂↕️
*Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher- Random house Ballantine for the E-Arc.*
this is how you do a second chance romance! no miscommunication! no third-act breakup! no nonsense reason aka cheating trope for when the couple first broke up years ago! i absolutely loved it! rtc near release date.
~~~~~~~~~~
life is good again bcs i have the arc of one of my most anticipated reads in my hands 🤭 cowboy and second chance in one book? I AM SO READY 🤸🏽♀️
So I cried 57 times while reading this😭🥹 I need everyone to give me a minute OK?!?
I’m back and I finally stopped crying, but if I think too long about any part of this book, I’m sure I will fall apart. Second chance romance, just hits fucking different. I don’t know what to tell you.
Bailey will forever be one of my all-time favorite authors. I just love the way that she fully pulls me into a story. This one alternates between past and present (Denny and Blair date when they are teenagers and reunite over a decade later) and I loved seeing the Wells Ranch from 14 years ago, even though it broke my heart I didn’t know how much I needed it and I’m so happy she took her readers on that journey.
UM EXCUSE ME BLAIR WITH THE “GOOD BOY” AND MAKING DENNY CRAWL I WAS GAGGEDDDD🥵🥵🥵 I sat up straight in my bed while reading that part. LIKE EVERYONE STFU I NEED TO FOCUS.
This was truly one of the most beautiful, emotional love stories I have ever read, I was a fucking wreck😭😭 at one point the tears were just flowing and I didn’t even notice because it just felt like it was part of the experience at that point 😂😂
Blair and Denver are EVERYTHING 💓🥹 their love was so cute when they were teenagers, but it was fucking consuming as adults and watching them find their way back to each other and work through the hurt was perfect, that’s literally the only way to describe it. One look at Blair after 14 years and Denny knew this was the chance to get everything he always wanted and he went full throttle from the second they made eye contact. I loved his dedication and how hard he worked to get her to trust him. He was not letting her slip away again 😭😭
I loved the Girl gang and their little friendship group, everyone being together was giving me life.
This was the perfect addition to an already perfect cowboy romance series and I can’t wait for everybody to read it. You guys are gonna fucking love it, but please listen to me when I tell you to have some tissues nearby.
This book followed the same pattern as book 2 aka making it seem like the MMC is some awful guy when they’re nothing but completely devoted to the FMC. Acting like he’s a Hugh Hefner playboy when it’s been 14 DAMN YEARS!!!! You weren’t around Blair!!!! That’s all anyone sees of him instead of the kind hardworking person he really is. Wym your own family doesn’t recognize that? The second he sees her back he is immediately devoted to her and knows exactly what he wants, HER. And he proves that to her every single page. Yet we have to go through another book of the fmc talking about his reputation and past with other women (of 14 fcking yrs where she wasn’t in his life).
I’m gonna have an unpopular opinion about this book but the abortion situation was BS. Don’t get me wrong it’s your body your choice everyday but this tipped me over the edge. Denver lost his grandpa, his mom dies of cancer, his dad immediately abandons them and doesn’t even go to the funeral just leaves them with an entire ranch to run and then the love of his life gets pregnant. His family is crumbling around him and he sees his future right in front of him. But no. She gets the abortion and now she’s gone from his life too. Then she has the audacity to be surprised when he didn’t show up to the appointment. Blair says she needed him there and needed him to be with her… but what about him? Who’s there for him? Half his family had just been ripped away? You wanted him to go to this appointment to watch the baby he wanted be aborted meanwhile you just told him you didn’t even know if you’re breaking up with him or not. He literally said that he had lost everything and Blair doesn’t consider how he might be handling everything going on. My poor man needed therapy and a damn hug!! She tells him not to make this harder on her like he wasn’t over here going through the hardest time in his life losing multiple family members and now this?????
Then at the end her saying he’s loving her the way he should’ve all those years ago is actually bullshit. BULLSHIT. Another FMC I can’t stand. He was devoted to her then AND now. I can’t blame him for wanting to keep the baby and her in his life. She had the right to do whatever with her body but I’m not gonna make Denver out to be some villain when that’s not the case.
Lots of the time the dialogue felt juvenile as well. Someone trying write for a younger audience and adding words like MID (idc if it was a kid saying it) falls flat every time. Taylor swift and the folklore album, girl gang, bestie.
This man got her multiple lamps for her office just cause the big light overstimulated her! Made her an entire coffee bar with a fancy coffee machine and a mini fridge. Put a damn alarm of his phone so he could remind her to take her medicine at the right time! Only saving grace in this book was Denver just like with book 2’s Red.
Thank you for this ARC these are my real thoughts.
When this second chance romance leaped back in time to entire chapters showing the main characters as adolescents, I quit reading and started skimming, and even that was boring. When she left town for college and never returned, his pining took the form of bedding every unattached female in town. Her pining took the form of nipple piercings and bedding other guys. True love, and all that.
Just finding each other and having a conversation was too much work for both of them, I guess. Better 14 years of hurt and longing and banging other people than words.
And now their second chance is here and dithering, dithering, and more dithering. Must consult with everyone in town about whether giving each other a second chance is a good idea or a bad one, which sounds more sixteen-year-old than thirty-one-year-old.
Then I skipped to the end and found her begging him to fill her up with cum until she overflowed so that she could have his babies, snorted, and thought to myself, “That’s two hours I’ll never get back.”
Since I skimmed and skipped I’ll give this book two stars instead of the one I probably would have given it if I’d forced myself to read every word.
***I decided skipping the part of the book that explained why these two supposedly madly in love people split apart wasn’t fair, so I went back and read it. And dropped my rating to 1 star and that’s all I have to say about that.
I sure do love me a cowboy romance and Bailey Hannah’s books are no exception.
Spicy, sexy, and emotional, the perfect blend for an addictive read!
I devoured the book in less than 24 hours!
What I loved… - angsty - emotional - spicy - second chance - childhood lovers - dual timeline - we learn about their past relationship in flashbacks that had me giggling and crying - he’s down BAD for her - playboy that leaves it all behind for a chance at her - each one of these books has gotten better than the last in terms of how the author tackles hard subjects, the care she puts into each emotional issue or health struggle is apparent and all are handled with care.
What I didn’t love… - I LOVED the flashbacks at the beginning but towards the end I wanted less flashbacks and more present - personal preference but the sheer number of -ing uses kills me
🌶️ - Once the spice starts, it’s pretty frequent. Explicit scenes start around 44%. 🌶️Chapters are: 22, 25, 33, 35, 36, 45, 48. As for the intensity, fully explicit but only mildly passed vanilla imo.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and I will just say it has launched me into my cowboy era! It was angsty and emotional and so sexy. I am a sucker for a second chance romance and this one did the trick! Can't wait to go back and read books 1 & 2 and meet the other men of Wells Canyon!
I have very conflicting emotions towards this book. There was a lot I liked (evident by my 45 highlights), and a lot I didn't like.
Liked - Mostly the mmc.
Didn't like - Spoilers:
- This is a second chance, 14 years having passed since the first time, during which both MCs had other partners... - We find out the reason for the past breakup is because the fmc got pregnant and had an abortion. It's not the act that caused it, but the fact that the fmc basically made the decision on her own. Now, yes, I do believe it's the woman's choice, but the mmc said, rightfully so, "this affects both of us, and you already decided without us even talking about it?" WHICH SHE DID. - The fmc also keeps bringing up the mmc's past romantic/intimate encounters and throwing them at his face (now, one was her bff, and even though they just kissed, her anger and hurt are valid). - The fmc wanted to know why the mmc didn't come to the abortion, and he said, you'll hate/judge me, and she said no I wont - ONLY TO PROCED TO DO JUST THAT (granted, he was stupid, but his feelings also matter and they were kids themselves when it happened...).
So.. yeah... like I said... complicated emotions.
------------ I dnf'ed book 1, and loved book 2. Which way will this go?
There were so many parts in this that I got emotional. This was really good and I was honestly unsure how I was going to feel with this couple after absolutely LOVING Cass + Red.
Bailey Hannah did such a good job with the second-chance aspect in this. I loved the past tense SO MUCH because you got to really see their friendship/ relationship when they were younger too.
"You. I want you, Blair. If you're the bride, I want to get married. If you're the mother, I want kids." 🥹🥹 Denver loves so hard
✨ small town ✨ second chance ✨ childhood best friends
This book had a big build-up in the earlier books, so I went in with high hopes. Sadly, it didn’t quite live up to them. The story of Blair and Denver had potential—second chances, small town drama, and old feelings—but it just didn’t hit as hard as I wanted. It was fine, but nothing special. If you like second-chance romance, you might still enjoy it, but it didn’t really stand out for me.
🎶Kacey Musgraves – “Space Cowboy” 🎶Lainey Wilson – “Things a Man Oughta Know” 🎶Noah Kahan – “Growing Sideways”
I really enjoyed this book! It's a cowboy romance that kept me reading for hours. The story is about second chances and childhood friends who find love again.
The characters Denver and Blair were amazing. Denver is a cowboy who loves Blair so much - he would do anything for her. I loved how the author showed us their past relationship through flashbacks. It made me understand their connection better.
The romance was sweet and emotional. There were many parts that made me feel happy and sad at the same time. The small town setting was perfect for this kind of story.
Sometimes there were too many flashbacks. At the beginning, I liked learning about their past, but later I wanted to read more about what was happening now.
The book has some spicy romantic scenes, so it's not for everyone. These scenes start around the middle of the book.
This is a good book for people who like romance novels with strong emotions.
I feel like this series is just getting better and better. You can tell that Bailey is getting her groove in this world and with these characters. This is the best in my opinion (so far). I have said it before, and I will say it again. Second change. Gets me. EVERY TIME. We got hints of the magnitude of Denver and Blair throughout Seeing Red, but reading their story was just sooo good. As much as it pains me to see where things went off the rails, I do love a good dual POV AND dual timeline. This had both. We finally get to hear inside of Blair's head. She is having to move home to help with her family. This is a place that she has been avoiding for almost 15 years because of the amount of heartache it brings her. And then we have Denver who likes to play the field. He is the fun one in the group- always smiling and trying to be the life of the party. I LOVED reading about him seeing Blair for the first time and how from then on his whole focus was her and proving to her that he is a different man than when they were 18 and everything fell apartment. THIS MAN YALL. Denver was such a softy. He knew the things that made Blair smile. He was a safe place for her to land. He wanted to help her with the load she was carrying. The other thing I love about second chance is reading that the feelings have never gone away. I really liked reading about Blair's walls coming down. I also liked that she tried to hold out but could only do so much against the man she never stopped loving. I really enjoyed the delicacy to which Bailey handled all of the heavier topics in this one. There are some heavy ones- but in discussing them it gave us a bigger picture of both of these characters.
Blair has made the decision to put her life on hold in Vancouver to come home and help her family. This is a place she dreads coming to not because of her family but because of her past. Specifically Denver Wells. They were everything to each other through some really tough times until they crashed and burned. Unfortunately Blair knows exactly how Denver has been spending his time which doesn't bode well for him when he starts to try to rekindle what they had. Friends. That is what they can be. No more. She can't let him. She doesn't know if he will stay. But man is he determined to prove her wrong. Because the man is showing up for her even when she isn't asking him to. He isn't judging her for where she is with her life now. He just wants to be a part of it. And the more they are around each other the more Blair feels her walls coming down. The more she realizes she has been fooling herself this whole time if she thought she would be able to be with anyone but Denver. He supports her unlike he ever did before. The question is will she be able to trust him when he says he is committed to them? That he wants the future they discussed when they were younger?
Denver enjoys his life. No strings. Just fun. That has been his motto since his heart moved to Vancouver 15 years ago. But then he sees her again. And it is like seeing the sun for the first time after a storm. He has one new goal now- to win Blair back over. To show her that he isn't the man he was before when they were younger. He can be what she needs. He can be what they both need. He decides that he will wait as long as it takes because though he has been playing the field for a long time he has never been in it. So when Blair says they can be friends. He takes it. When she starts to lean on him for things, he takes on more to help with the load she is carrying. He slowly starts to see her walls come down and man is he ready. He has known since he saw her again and has been waiting for her to catch up. And though he can see she still doesn't fully trust him- he can see it's only a matter of time. He just has to remind her of what they had.
UGH these characters!! Denver was the ultimate cinnamon roll MC. Just cushy and gooey and warm in the center. And he worked sooo hard to get Blair to see what they could be together. I loved the spice in this one- the way that they had to relearn and even learn things about each other was super cute. I loved being able to learn more about the "elder" Wells- Bennett and Lucy. I loved watching Blair give herself space to FEEL things- things she had been shoving down for a while. This was a book about healing for both characters. About finding your person even if it takes some work. About finding home in someone. I can't WAIT to see where else this series takes us. If you haven't picked it up yet- do it. You won't regret it!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
5 STARS OBVIIIIIIII This is my absolute favorite book from the series so far! Second chance romance is my favorite trope, and this was done PERFECTLY!! Denny and Blair have lived rent-free in my mind for months, and it's safe to say that they'll have a place in my heart forever.
Blair was such a wonderful fmc. She's strong, independent, caring, and felt so real to me. I related to her so much as someone who takes her independence very seriously, to the point where it's just easier to push people away to prevent them from getting too close. I loved her and wanted to give her a huge hug. Her growth and healing throughout the book are everything to me, and I loved seeing the way she grew to accept Denny's love and help. He gave her space to feel things, and I thought it was so beautiful to see the way they found each other again.
DENVER WELLS IS THAT MAN!!! I could not get enough of him!! He loves so hard, and it's obvious that he is such a selfless person and would do anything for those he loves. He was SO HOT!!! That man crawledddd for the woman he loves! Denver really put in the work and showed Blair that he was a safe space for her to land. I love when men!!!!
I truly enjoyed reading about them when they were younger. It just showed how deep their love ran. Both characters were going through their own issues, which had a lot of depth and were honestly handled very well, but they took care of each other. They saw each other, down to the bones, and did not let each other go easily. Their relationship was full of longing, tension, hurt, and ultimately, a love that could not be broken. Their story was beautiful! I laughed, cried, swooned, and screamed as I read this because I truly love this book and series so much. Thank you, Bailey Hannah, for creating one of my favorite cowboy romance series!
Big thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for a free copy of Change of Hart in exchange for an honest review.
Alexa, play "In a World Gone Wrong" by Zach Top. ❤️🩹
Who in their right mind doesn't love a good second-chance romance? It's my favorite of the Wells Ranch series by far.
Childhood best friends to lovers.. Lovers to, well, NOTHING. 😭 This was a tear jerker in the best way possible. Getting to experience Denver and Blair fall in love as teenagers. Then to experience the hurt of a first heartbreak in what felt like real time. Bailey's writing was potent and truly moving. I found myself crying, chest literally aching. The next thing you know, I'm laughing at the easy banter. The plot deals with heavy topics such as Alzhimers and cancer. I think the author cared about these characters deeply, and it shows. ❤️ On a final, much spicier note, Blair calls Denny a "good boy" and makes him whimper. I loved that immensely. It was hot. 🥵
Ahhh I know everyone’s going to hate me for this 🫠🫣😅😥
DNF @75%
The beginning of this story (like 30-40%) it was extremely promising. I loved so many parts, especially the fun banter they had towards the beginning.
But what am I supposed to do with a romance where they’re already happy and in love by 50%? I wanted to DNF at 58% but pushed through a bit more because every person I know LOVED this story.
I really REALLY struggle when the couple gets together early. At 75% it really feels like there’s no conflict left between the two of them. True - the MMC doesn’t know about what happened the years they were apart. But he’s gonna find out and love her regardless, so I don’t see what I’d get from reading the next 100 pages.
I hate doing this because I loved Alive & Wells and Seeing Red, but I’m trying out this new thing where I stop reading if I’m not enjoying a book 🤷🏼♀️
3,75⭐️ Pour l'instant, c'est celui que j'ai le moins aimé dans la saga : les thèmes sont hyper touchants mais moi qui adore les second chance, j'ai eu du mal à vraiment accroché à celui-ci. Ça reste une histoire très belle, un chouïa longuet et, je ne sais pas si c'est parce que j'ai quasiment enchainé les trois tomes mais vraiment le smut c'est trop, j'ai sauté les passages. Hâte tout de même que le quatrième tome sorte parce que je suis curieuse de voir les personnages qui seront mis en avant huhu
Holy moly, this book had me all over the place. I was laughing, swooning, sweating, and crying. Good Lord, it was a journey, and I enjoyed every single second of it.
Let me tell you something… Bailey Hannah can write a damn book, especially when it comes to creating a man. Denver is the epitome of if he wanted to, he would. He noticed so many little things Blair needed and took care of them before she even had the chance to ask. He went through so much in this story, and he is a character you will come to adore deeply.
I love a good second chance romance, and I especially loved how the author took us back in time to when Denver and Blair first started hanging out. Those flashbacks gave us beautiful glimpses into their shared past and made their present-day connection even richer. Not only was the story told in alternating POV, but those layered memories added so much emotional depth.
This book is beautiful but also a tough read at times, so make sure you check all the content warnings. I am beyond excited for the last two books in the series and I cannot wait to devour them.
I really wanted to like this book. I waited for this patiently and was so excited when it dropped. Let’s just say I was disappointed. First of all, I love second chance. It’s my favorite. What I HATE is a dual timeline second chance. I don’t need pages and pages of filler for each year they knew each other as kids. I truly do not care about their 15 year old arguments or exploits. I care about now. A few flashbacks here and there is ok, but a dual timeline sinks the whole damn thing.
Denver and Blair have been apart 14 years. Long story short his entire world had just collapsed at 18 when his grandfather and mother died in quick succession and his dad walked out leaving them to manage the ranch as kids. In the midst of this Blair tells him she’s pregnant and not keeping it. Denny is desperate to keep the baby and begs her to marry him. She declines then gets pissed off when he doesn’t show at the clinic to support her. This is what’s torn them apart for over a decade. Blair should’ve made whatever decision was right for her, but a blind man could see Denny’s behavior wasn’t about her or the baby. It was about a teenager who is desperate to recreate a family. He needed support and love. Not a callous disregard for his feelings followed by a prompt break up. And there was no exploration of this at all. None. Just generic apologies and forgiveness all around.
This has so much filler. I expected angst and emotion and deep love and I got meh. Way too much focus on the fact that Denny’s been banging every girl in town for 14 years but no resolution to that plot point. Blair’s jealous (she’s not celibate either), but they never really talk about it. He apologizes and pulls the but it was only sex I didn’t love any of them It’s always been you card. Eww. I hate this. I’m not saying he should’ve been sitting around celibate pining for a woman who has no intention of ever coming back to him, but also you can’t then be upset that the same woman who you allegedly love more than life itself is disgusted by your behavior - especially when you hook up with her friends. So come on, let’s be serious here. He’s feeling sorry for himself that he’s seen as a fuckboy but hi, you are. You literally had the woman you can’t live without pretending to be “with” you to scare off past conquests who keep coming around. Why would she take you seriously?? He makes some references to things not being as they seem but we get no further resolution to that either.
Bottom line I skimmed a lot and was pretty disappointed. This isn’t the first time an author I love has gone trad only to have the quality of their books go way down and that was readily apparent here.
Denver Wells, I did not know I was going to fall that hard for you. But I did. I so did.
This book was everything’s a second chance romance should be and more. I loved Blair and Denny so much even though their past selves broke my heart and their own. They fixed it, and my fragile little heart rejoiced.
✨ Small Town Romance ✨ Cowboy Romance ✨ Second Chance ✨ It’s always been you ✨ Acts of Service ✨ Nurse Practitioner FMC
I love a good always been you vibe almost as much as I love a playboy cowboy that takes one look at the one that got away and says “not gonna happen again.” And this one delivered on both.
I have read some amazing down bad heroes, but Mr acts of service Denver Wells said hold my cowboy hat, let me show you how it’s done! Blair was his once and he did everything through both worlds and actions to prove to her that she would be his again.
This book had so much emotion (there are some heavy topics in this one but they are handled with so much care) and if you have ever cared for a sick parent, prepare for a gut punch, but in the best way.
Blair and Denny were both great characters in their own right. But together they were magic. I never want this series to end.
I found this one infuriating. The slut shaming of a man who was single... For 14 years. Like it's mentioned she "didn't run a nunnery" and "definitely wasn't celibate" so why was it such a big deal that he slept around too?? The poor man never even asked her about her history, just let her right off the hook. I can't get over why they broke up, the poor man lost 3 family members and she broke up with him... Then was mad and surprised when he wasn't there to support her? You broke up with him... But he was the bad guy for the whole book.
I was really looking forward to Denver and Blair's Second Chance. Denver was so determined to win her back over and I was rooting for him so hard! As we see glimpses of their childhood friendship and eventual fall into love... It hurt to see how they had become separated and how they lost fourteen years they could have had with each other.
Denver had been through so much as a teen, and now Blair is going through something tough too. It's great to watch him be there for her in present day, even when she tries to push him away. There were some TRULY poignant moments.
Unfortunately, I really struggled with a few aspects of their past and also, how Denver is portrayed in the present. I think he got the short end of the stick in a lot of ways. I don't blame Blair for this, as she certainly didn't have a cake walk as a kid and present day is hard too.
I just don't like the trope that was used to break them up as 18-year-olds. I never like when it's used this way. So.. that meant that this book just wasn't for me.
If you love a pining hero, a golden retriever who will crawl for his woman, you will love Denver. Blair was a strong woman and she looks out for herself in the best way she knows how. I respect her for that, even if I don't agree. I think a lot of others will though!
Oh to be in Wells Ranch again. It’s the best feeling ever. The audacity for Bailey to keep making each book better and better (with each book being a 5 star). I will truly never get over this book and the absolute joy that these characters bring me every time I’m brought back to this fictional world.
This book is full of angst, emotion and chemistry. Blair and Denver were the perfect representation of childhood friends to lovers who have such a special connection from their first interaction. Blair found her way into the Wells family and vice versa with Denny. They fell in love at such a young age, going through so many obstacles together. High school graduation, early years of college and family loss. They were truly each others back bone. 🥹🥹 One of the hardest obstacles they face together leads to them breaking up and both finding themselves heartbroken and more alone than ever.
Fast forward to 14 years later, and Blair is back in Wells Canyon and Denver literally falls off of his horse when he sees her again. Whoops!!!! With his girl back in town (and here to stay) he needs to prove to her that he would do (literally) anything to have her back for good.
I’m a Wells Ranch fan club member for life and my girl Bailey knocked it out of the park 🫶🏻 I LOVE YOU AND ALL THESE MEN (and women. don’t forget about my girls)
I loved this book soooo much. I don't think I've hated any book in this series tbh!! 😭
I was super excited to read Denver's book and I'm so glad that it was a hit. 🤭🎀
If you enjoy, second chance romance with a sunshine cowboy who's a bronc rider, a nurse practitioner who's very independent and you love a small town setting this is for you. 💁🏾♀️♥️
The way Denver was OBSESSED with Blair and he did everything in his power to make her his again... God I need a man like this 😭.
Bailey Hannah has become one of those authors where if she writes I'm 100% going to read it. 🌸🙂
Okay, let me just say—this book completely won me over, and I’m not even usually a fan of second-chance romances. But Denny and Blair? They’re THE way to do a second-chance romance right. Their story is messy, heartfelt, and so beautifully written that I couldn’t help but root for them every step of the way... except maybe a little bit at the beginning cause Denny felt like a player (and eww). The way their past is woven into the story, into their present, with all the pain, longing, and unresolved feelings, made their journey feel authentic and deeply satisfying.
The story itself feels complete in the best way possible. It’s long, but not in a dragging, “when will this end?” kind of way—more like an “I never want this to end” kind of way. There’s so much depth to the plot, with layers of family drama, personal growth, and emotional healing that it’s impossible not to get invested. And the family dynamics?! They’re heartbreaking in the most beautiful way. The relationships between the characters are so real and raw that they’ll stick with you long after you’ve finished reading.
This book is my first dip into this world, but I can already tell it won’t be my last. I’m so curious about the other characters and their stories, and I can’t wait to dive deeper into this universe. The author has created something truly special here, and I’m officially hooked.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for the eARC! Getting to read this early was such a treat, and I’m so glad I took the chance on it. If you’re looking for a second-chance romance that’s emotional, steamy, and utterly unforgettable, this is it. Denny and Blair’s story is one you won’t want to miss.
🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 - The spice is there, and it’s good, but it’s the emotional connection that really makes the intimate moments shine. It’s steamy, but it’s also deeply meaningful, which is exactly how it should be in a story like this.
BETA READ— no i will not be getting over this anytime soon😭😭😭 this was the perfect emotional trifecta that left me giggling, horny, and (mostly) sobbing. Bails absolutely SLAYED the second chance game and the depth of this story and these characters was simply unmatched. this one’s for my fellow superfans of “the notebook” and all of you hopeful romantics out there🫶🏻
full rtc as soon as i’m able to but for now i will say that beta reading this was quite literally one of the biggest accomplishments of my life thus far!!!
My Review: Change of Hart by Bailey Hannah is book #3 in the Wells Ranch series.
About the Book: "...a jaded woman reluctantly returns to her hometown—and to the cowboy who broke her heart and drove her away."
In My Own Words: A cowboy and his best friend/true love reunite after fourteen years apart. What brought them together and what drove them apart finally merge, allowing them to meet in the middle and find the reconciliation that they always needed.
My Final Say: This story was a complicated one. It was heavy and emotional. It dealt with various serious issues, ranging from life after loss to mental health. It explored a number of relationships and showed the healthy and unhealthy tendencies that impact those relationships.
In terms of the featured couple, this novel presented a dual POV. It shifted between the past and the present, allowing readers to glimpse the characters from their initial meeting until their final end and more. There were clear, precise indicators that showed what went wrong and what went right in their relationship. Along with dealing with the conflicts that arose in their relationship, the book also showed a lot of steam and spice, which will appeal very much to many readers.
I really wanted to love this book, but I am, unfortunately, the odd man out. In the end, I will say that the story was alright. I liked it okay enough. I appreciated the emotional tone, especially related to the great losses that were revealed. That is what impacted me the most. The k**k play and the hot spice took over at times and became somewhat repetitive, which took away from the heavier matters that weighed in.
In my opinion, the story pacing was mixed. It was both fast and slow. The story kept going, even though there were several places where an obvious end seemed to be appropriate, as weird as that may sound. It was an up and down reading experience, overall. With that said, I think this story would do well as an audiobook. I think the rhythm will level out via that means, allowing readers to be paced more so by an external agent.
Other: This gets a mixed bag rating. I think it will appeal to many, but I also think that it may not appeal to others. There is definitely something to the underlying love story between the main characters that warrants looking further.
Readers who enjoy cowboy romances, second chance love stories, friends to strangers romances, small town love stories, family rich fiction, and time gap novels may like this one.
Rating: 3/5 Recommend: Yes Audience: A Status/Level: 👍 Series: Yes
Thank you to the author, to the publisher (Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine | Dell), and to NetGalley for granting access to a digital ARC of this title in exchange for an honest critique. The words I have voluntarily shared are my own thoughts and opinions. I am most appreciative for the opportunity.
I loved the first two books in this series and this one was no exception. I was immediately sucked in and couldn’t put it down.
Denver and Blair were both such interesting and lovable characters, with great chemistry together. Their dialogue was funny and entertaining, and I loved reading the dual point of views to see how much they both pined for each other for literally more than a decade.
Denver was so sweet to Blair and top notch book boyfriend material. His character was written so well that you just can’t help but fall in love.
As the masochist I am, the heart wrenching things both of them endured in their life just added so much to the story and their feelings, trials and tribulations in life really made them feel real. This was another one of those “hurts so good” scenarios that just hits you in the feels, and I LOVE IT.
I so appreciated the mental health reps and normalization of it in the book, and the lack of a third act breakup.
All in all, 10/10 highly recommend this steamy, have you begging for more, cowboy romance!
What to expect: 🐴 second chance 🩺 cowboy x nurse practitioner 🐴 small town Canada 🩺 mental health rep 🐴 mutual pining 🩺 no third act breakup 🐴 MCs over 30
This was such a fun and emotional romance read. I have enjoyed this series so much! Bailey Hannah has a way of writing exceptionally realistic characters that just draw you in. I adored reading Denver and Blair's second chance at love. It was so well thought out, and I loved the execution. The chapters written when they were younger felt SO REAL!! It was so fun to follow along as the present-day story unfolded. I love this structure for a second chance.
Thank you so much, Dell Romance, Netgalley, and Bailey Hannah, for an early copy in exchange for my review!! Releases 5/27, and I highly recommend cowboy romance fans to pick up this series if they haven't already :)
