It’s the wedding of the year – for all the wrong reasons…
I vow to make you pay for what you did.
Twelve years ago, school friends Sofia, Ellie and Rose made a vow. They promised never to talk about that fateful night. Never to tell anyone what they did.

It is meant to be the event of the season, but as things start to go wrong, they suspect someone is trying to punish them.
But if the women took a vow of silence, how can anyone know? And what lengths will they be willing to go to, to get their revenge?

You like vows, Sofia? Here’s one for you : I vow to make you pay.
It’s 2024 and experienced wedding planner Sofia is working hard for her best friend Ellie McLeod, now an A-list Hollywood celebrity, who has chosen a rather odd location for her nuptials to Mitch. It’s Cape Turmoil, an isolated lighthouse with accommodation but it’s Ellie’s choice and so Sofia will make it work. They make their way there along with their other best friend Rose and although the venue is quirky, it’s also stunning. They’re warned about the dark, with no paths or lighting around the cliff edges. A dark night, a dangerous cliff edge, bottomless champagne – what could possibly go wrong? However, that’s not the only warning the three get as it seems somebody is out to sabotage the big day. But, why? It seems that someone knows about the vow of silence they made years ago and is out for revenge.
This is an entertaining, fast paced, twisty, easy read with plenty going on to keep you interested in the drama. I like the relationship between the three flawed central female characters who have each other’s backs although each have their own issues. At times there’s tension especially between Rose and the other two which is an interesting dynamic, giving a sense of the jitters that’s not just about the big day. My suspicions fall in several directions but as the plot unfolds it’s not hard to figure it out, as it quite simply has to be, hence the 3.5 stars. I love the setting too, I always enjoy an Aussie location.
Overall, I would read the author again as she does keep me interested in the novel throughout.
With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Avon Books for the much appreciated early copy in return for an honest review.
Another fabulous nail biting thriller from Stefanie London, three school friends make a vow to never speak about that night again, it has been twelve years since that night and life has happened for all of them Sofia, Ellie and Rose still best friends and now they are coming together to celebrate Ellie’s wedding, what a weekend this turns out to be.
Sofia, good Italian daughter, she is determined to become a lawyer and be dux of the school losing her sister in a car accident changes Sofia, makes her more determined. These days she is happily married and a sought after wedding planner.
Ellie is being bought up by her mum after her parents divorced and one thing that she wants more than anything is to be a Hollywood star. Ellie is now a Hollywood star on the rise and is about to marry the man she loves.
Rose is a twin and her wish is to be an Olympic swimmer but that changes and no one really believes her but her twin Lilly goes ahead and becomes that star and Rose has married and become a mother.
But as Ellie’s wedding gets closer things are starting to turn, bad reviews old photos released to the press and when they arrive at the destination for the wedding they discover that Michelle is there the only other person who knew about that night but is there someone else who knows who is now seeking revenge, will they make it through the three days at this isolated destination with their lives?
I do highly recommend this one, nail biting and suspenseful as the friends do their best to uncover who is behind the revenge. This one had me turning the pages it is intriguing and a fabulous read, I loved it.
It is billed to be the wedding of the year… the movie star and the golfer. A beautiful location on the Victorian coast, Her best friend as the wedding planner and her other bestie there with her family. It is going to be the perfect day….. or is it?
Of course things are going to go array. These 3 woman have been friends since forever, and 12 years ago they made a vow to keep quiet about what happened that day when their lives changed forever. But somebody knows and is at the location of the wedding.
This was a wild and fast read. I loved that it was set in Australia with dual timelines of the wedding lead up and the day that they will never speak of. All these women were flawed and their friendship is tested. None were particularly likeable but it was fun pacey read.
Thanks to Avon Books UK for my copy to read for review. Very entertaining and unpredictable
This was a solid thriller. It was very entertaining, fast paced and I thought the twists were pretty good. I thought I knew who the bad guy was, but I was wrong haha. It takes place at a wedding in Australia between four girls who are hiding a secret from their past.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
This book took me down a rabitt hole. Twists that I never saw coming. Fantastic characters that all interacted perfect together. The ended was more than I would have imagined. Fantastic book all around!
Thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an early release of this book
I was delighted to be given an ARC of this novel and I devoured it mostly over two days once I had time to really dig in. And what a multi-layered treat it was!
London has done a great job of separating out the three protagonists, Sofia, Ellie and Rose - they all have distinct voices and though patterns and for someone like me who struggles keeping multi-POV books straight, it worked beautifully. It's always nice to not have a 'favourite' character POV and to be inwardly groan when it switches to someone else. All three characters were equally interesting and had their own issues, worries and pasts to confront. I would have liked just a bit more of a resolution to Rose's story arc, but that's a minor quibble.
The central mystery in this one has some great red herrings layered over it and enough side mysteries and added twists to keep you hooked until the final page, wanting to know how or if it will work out for this trio of women keeping a deadly secret.
In the final act, revelation follows devastating revelation and I had to pick my jaw up off the flaw at least twice.
A fresh take on the 'reunion secret' novel and one which is an absolute must read.
It’s meant to be the wedding of the season—but for Sofia, Ellie, and Rose, it’s the start of something much darker. Once inseparable high school friends, the trio made a pact twelve years ago to never speak of a terrible night that changed everything. Now reunited at Ellie’s luxe destination wedding—held at an isolated lighthouse-turned-venue—their past is catching up with them. Someone knows their secret. And they want revenge.
I love when thrillers are set in Victoria, and The Vow absolutely delivers on location. One of the characters even lives in Narre Warren, which made me do a double-take—it’s so rare to see familiar Aussie suburbs in commercial fiction! That said, the opening prologue felt a little too corny for my taste and nearly lost me early on, but I’m glad I pushed through.
The strength of this book lies in the dynamic between its three flawed but compelling women. Their loyalty, simmering tensions—especially between Rose and the others—and emotional baggage add a layer of realism and depth. Each voice is distinct, and the alternating past/present chapters build a clear picture of how their friendship fractured and why the past still haunts them.
While the mystery kept me hooked with well-timed red herrings and a few satisfying twists, I did find the “big secret” a bit predictable, and the ending came on a little too suddenly. The final reveal is followed by a sharp time jump, wrapping things up a bit too neatly. A few extra chapters could’ve given the story the breathing room it needed.
I also struggled at times to connect with the main characters—there were moments where they felt more grating than sympathetic. The suspense occasionally leaned too heavily on vague hints and cryptic conversations. Still, the lighthouse setting was a nice touch, and overall it’s a fast-paced, engaging read that will appeal to fans of domestic thrillers looking for something light but layered.
Thank you to the author, Stefanie London, the publisher Avon Books UK, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this ARC.
This was a thrilling exciting read, Sofia, a successful wedding planner, Rose, a disgraced swimmer, married now with a young baby and Ellie, an actress who has just landed an amazing role. The 3 women have been friends from schooldays and are as close as sisters. Ellie is getting married at an exclusive resort and the three women arrive earlier than the guests for pre wedding time together. A mystery person seems hellbent on ruining their lives though as Sofia starts getting bad reviews, pictures emerge from Ellies past and Rose suspects her husband of having an affair. Could this be linked to something in the past and who would know when they made a vow to never speak of it again. This was a real page turner, I loved the girls friendship, the sister code they had, Proof that all actions have consequences. An enjoyable read
Ellie, Sofia and Rose were friends at school but they have been keeping a secret for many years and they think that secret is now know by someone who wants revenge. A fast paced thriller told by different characters and in duel timelines. I found this story difficult to keep track of and this affected my enjoyment of the book. Thank you to NetGalley and for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very easy read. The characters were mid (except Rose, she was annoying!), plot was…expected but that’s okay for a psychological thriller, and it was all tied up nicely in a bow at the end.
Love that it was set in Victoria, and was excited to see places that I know.
I was accepted to read this book before official publication through NetGalley and below is my honest review.
I loved this book!! All throughout I thought it was a high end 4 star but I really liked the ending so it ended up being 5 star!
The story is told through POVs of our 3 female main characters - Rose, Ellie and Sofia. They are connected for life as they all share the same secret.
I audibly gasped at a couple of points because they really caught me off guard. It was the perfect balance of suspense and tense - I thought I knew what was going on (as always) but I was wrong!
I did find that some of the chapters were quite long which usually I’m not a fan of but the writing style and pace was fab so I saw past that 😂
The ending for me was FAB. It may not be for everyone but it shocked me and I loved it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book.
This story just did NOT hit for me. I found the main characters unsympathetic and uninteresting, even annoying at times. The “suspense” was dragged out for so long, with repeated eye-roll-inducing hints to some horrible thing in their mutual past.
I genuinely would have quit reading at about 50% or less if this had been a library book instead of an ARC that I needed to review. I was just so godawful bored.
Disclosure: I would like to thank the publisher and author for my advanced review copy of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I'm being overly cautious with the spoiler tags as some people like to read books without knowing any details.
The Vow follows Ellie as she gets married in a destination wedding. She invites her childhood friends, Rose and Sofia. This should be Ellie's happiest day in her life, but when things start to go wrong, she realises someone out there knows this is not the first vow she makes... Years ago, Ellie, Rose and Sofia promised each other they wouldn't tell anyone about what happened that night and now someone who knows has come back to taunt them... but why?
This book was so good I read it at the weekend. I think I would've read it in one sitting if it hadn't been for the fact I had to go out and get groceries. Ugh! I wish I'd planned better. I couldn't stop thinking about the book when I went to bedm so I snuck out of bed early to finish it before breakfast. You've been warned!
The story is di-a-bol-i-cal...!! where do I even begin? told from their respective POVs, it has two main storylines: Ellie's wedding today, and that fatidic night in 2013. Something I really, really liked was that this was a character-driven story. So this was quite "meaty" with good insight into what drives each character. I did feel a bit bad for them, the author did a great job emoting the sense of injustice
These are flawed humans that I strangely found myself rooting for! I wanted to know more about them, what drove them, and I NEEDED to know what happened that night and who was behind their misadventure!!
All in all, a great book!! I'm already looking forward to Stefanie's next book!!
Well... wasn't this the book that kept on giving! And which kept me on my toes throughout, delivering a wild ride all the way through, spitting me out at the end, exhausted but satisfied. We start with a wedding. A-List Hollywood celebrity and rising star Ellie is getting married at an exclusive venue. Amongst her guests are best friends forever, wedding planner Sofia and new mum Rose who, as we find out, all share a dark secret from their schooldays. But it isn't to be the wondrous, streamlined, arranged to the skin of its teeth event that they all wanted as it becomes pretty clear very soon that someone is out to get them. The why of which is delivered slowly through flashbacks inserted periodically throughout the present day narrative. The who being carefully obfuscated throughout until, eventually, the whole truth is laid bare. I have to be honest and say that I actually didn't really like any of the main trio of characters herein. And the devil in me actually secretly loved them getting knocked down. But I also don't think my feelings about them really mattered at the end of the day. It was popcorn, car crash telly at its very best as I watched their downfalls. It's entertaining and such fast paced that I didn't even get much time to roll my eyes over something before something else happened! As well as the aforementioned obfuscation, there are also the usual secrets, lies and dysfunctional behaviour to be found herein, as well as misunderstanding and misdirection. The main theme of lifelong friends having a secret past and then getting together in the present for it all to come to the surface is not a new one, but I have to say that the author did a mighty fine job of executing it! All in all, a riveting read that held me captive throughout, and which delivered very well at the end. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.
The Vow by Stefanie London is a book for of secrets and the ways bonds are tested through the darkest secrets of all.
The Vow was a really enjoyable read that I didn’t want to stop reading once I got fully immersed in it because there were so many secrets that I desperately wanted the answers to and they are tantalizingly doled out sporadically throughout the novel in snippets of the past being told as the story unfolds in the present so many years later. This combined with the multiple point of views telling the story makes for a well laid out and well told story that induces so much anxiety and paranoia as you read.
I appreciated having Sofia, Rose, and Ellie all telling the story both in the present and the past as it gives each of their unique perspectives on events and lets the reader understand what happened and why they’ve become the people they are in the present. On top of this it helps establish each of their personalities and the relationships they have with one another, which really helps them to be real feeling characters that you actually feel for and learn to understand.
The plot was deeply intriguing too, between the threats to the characters and the awful ways their lives starts to fall apart, leading up to the answers as to why everything is happening. The story helps to unfold clues that lead up nicely to the reveal of who is behind everything, and I thought the little clues dropped as the story progressed made it very clear who was responsible and easy to put together to lead to a natural conclusion.
The ending felt a little abrupt in the sense that all is revealed and then BAM it’s resolved, followed by an immediate time jump, but otherwise it was a good read and did keep my attention very well. It was a fast paced read and I really enjoyed it, so definitely recommend.
This was a quick and fast-paced read that I read over the course of a few hours. It centers on 3 friends named Sofia, Ellie, and Rose who are approaching their 30s while still holding onto a secret from high school that could ruin their lives if it gets out. When Ellie plans her wedding at a remote location in the countryside, bad things start happening to all 3 women and it's clear that someone knows what they did and is trying to make them pay for it. The story is told in alternating voices between the 3 women, with most in current time but some back when the "bad thing" happened.
The changing in voices and timeframes made the book read at a fast clip. The characters were distinct and it was easy to tell whose chapters were whose. I did think all 3 of them read as a little immature for their ages/experiences, in both timelines, but I still enjoyed their stories. I thought that parts of the book were suitably creepy and there was frequent action. There were also plenty of red herrings from which to choose as I was trying to figure out the culprit. When the villain was exposed, I was surprised (which is hard to do!) but it all made complete sense and I didn't know why I hadn't figured it out earlier. I enjoyed the ending and thought it tied things up for the most part, but there was one piece of the story that left a few unanswered questions.
Overall, I thought this was a fast and fun read and I'd recommend to those who enjoy psychological thrillers. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sofia and Ellie are highly successful ladies and their friend Rose is a happily married mother of one. However, they have a dark secret from their past that they vowed never to share with anyone. Ever. Ellie, now a Hollywood actress is about to be married to Mitch and Sofia, a wedding planner is helping her with her dream wedding. Located at a remote spot on the Australian coast, it is the private retreat that is perfect for someone in the public eye who just wants her friends and family to enjoy the happiest day of her life without any press intrusion. The excitement is building but as things start to go wrong, the girls wonder if the event is cursed and maybe they are getting payback for their past misdemeanours. This can’t be true though, as they promised they would never speak of the incident again, or could it? This book was told from two different time lines and also from various perspectives. It was quite an involved and complex story but I felt that the unspeakable incident could have been revealed earlier in the book so the reader understood the severity. The characters were somewhat annoying with their egos, entitlement and issues. The relationships between the girls and their families were fraught with difficulties. Nevertheless it was well told and the dramatic conclusion was a good twist that provided the necessary shock.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for providing this book, with my honest review below.
The Vow was a fun thriller with dual timelines revealing the secret behind the vow and the consequences that follow in present day.
The three ladies we open with are Sofia, Ellie, and Rose, all coming together for Ellie’s wedding. Sofia is a high achieving wedding planner who is suddenly being review bombed, but living a perfect life otherwise. Ellie, the bride, has started to make it big as an actress and is about to wed when an old affair is revealed as if its current, putting her wedding in jeopardy and losing her next big role. Finally Rose is a new mother dealing with fallout from years ago when she was a star swimmer and got caught doping - which she denies - along with her current concerns about her husband’s maybe infidelity. These three had committed an act they vowed never to reveal in high school along with another girl, and the wedding week is proving someone knows what they did and is behind their sudden issues.
The Vow was a quick read and I loved the dual timeline reveals. That said it could have more artfully built up the drama and misfortune these ladies were victim to and wrapped up very quickly. I wish I had more!
*Thank you @NetGalley and @AvonBooksUK for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: Sofia, Ellie, and Rose have a secret. They teamed up with a girl named Michelle in high school to sneak into school and change a grade on an assignment. Things went horribly wrong and they all vowed to keep it a secret. Years later, Ellie is getting married at an elaborate costal venue and her besties Sofia and Rose join her for the festivities. Suddenly, strange things start to happen, indicating someone knows about their secret... but who?
𝗠𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: I loved the pacing of this book, I was drawn in from the start. Every chapter kept me wanting to know more... I found myself saying "just one more chapter" constantly. There wasn't too many characters or POV like some books can have. There were red herrings throughout the book, even though I suspected the culprit in the end... I still wasn't sure until it happened. Fans of Lucinda Berry and Lucy Foley will enjoy this book.
In the realm of psychological thrillers, few novels manage to intertwine complexity, emotion, and suspense as seamlessly as The Vow. The narrative unfolds through multiple viewpoints, each character's perspective adding depth and nuance to the unfolding mystery. Stefanie London masterfully navigates between two distinct timeframes, creating a tapestry of events that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Her skillful manipulation of time and perspective ensures that the story remains unpredictable, with each chapter revealing new layers and twists. What truly sets The Vow apart is its ability to defy expectations. The ending is both surprising and satisfying, a rare feat in a genre often dominated by formulaic conclusions. The characters are richly developed, their motivations and actions driving the plot in ways that feel both organic and compelling. For fans of gripping, intelligent thrillers, I highly recommend The Vow, which stands apart as one of the best I've read this year! London’s writing is a testament to the power of storytelling and the art of suspense. For those who appreciate intricate plots, well-drawn characters, and an ending that leaves a lasting impression, I highly recommended this novel! Prepare to be utterly absorbed and unable to put this book down!

Okay… I have feelings about this book. I hated it — but I also absolutely, totally, ridiculously loved it. You know that kind of story that makes you roll your eyes one minute and clutch your chest the next? Yeah, that’s The Vow.
The characters were something else. Elle’s mom? ICONIC. The most stereotypical Hollywood star mom ever — dramatic, sparkly, and somehow always right in the middle of the chaos. I adored her, even when she was doing the most.
Malachi? Oh, Malachi. The man is chaos wrapped in charm. He had me laughing, sighing, and occasionally yelling “what are you doing?!” at my Kindle. And Mitch… bless him. He might’ve been a total snore, but somehow, he fit. Like the human version of beige — necessary for balance.
Sure, there was whining, overthinking, and more emotional messiness than I was ready for — but I couldn’t stop reading. This book is dramatic, frustrating, funny, and completely addictive.
So yeah, I hated it. But I also devoured it. And honestly? That’s my favorite kind of read.
Secrets. Lies. And a vow that was never meant to be broken.
In The Vow, Stefanie London masterfully weaves a chilling romantic thriller told through the razor-sharp lenses of three different perspectives—each one revealing cracks in the perfect facade.
There's the bride, haunted by a past she’s desperate to escape. The best friend, carrying secrets that could shatter everything and the other friend, where the perfect life starts to unravel and love feels like a threat. Most of all, the stranger, watching from the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. With each chapter, loyalties shift, truths unravel, and the line between love and obsession begins to blur.
Twisty, emotionally charged, and soaked in slow-building dread, The Vow is a seductive game of cat and mouse where trust is a weapon and the truth might be the deadliest vow of all.
This was a quick paced multi faceted story that keeps you on your toes and I quite enjoyed it.

The Vow by Stefanie London is a suspenseful and fast-paced psychological thriller filled with mystery. The plot had me hooked with its satisfying twists and complex friendship.
The story revolves around three women who committed a secret act in high school, which they vowed never to disclose. However, as the wedding week unfolds, it becomes evident that someone knows what they did and is behind the troubles they are now facing.
Set across dual timelines and multiple points of view, the narrative reveals the secret behind the vow made by Sofia, Ellie, and Rose, as well as the consequences they are facing in the present day.
The complex dynamics of female friendship are explored through these three flawed yet compelling characters.
The central event is "the wedding of the season," where Ellie is the bride-to-be. The wedding takes place at an isolated lighthouse, which adds an air of tension. Ellie has begun to establish herself as an actress, but when an old affair is revealed, it threatens not only her wedding but also her career. And this is just the beginning...
Sofia is a very successful wedding planner whose client list is impressive with some famous names. She is planning Ellie's wedding. Ellie is an in demand actor who is about to star in a film which will lift her even higher. She is about to marry Mitch. Rosie, who was a top athlete in the swimming world until she was found guilty of taking a banned substance. The three friends took a vow to never speak about a fateful night twelve years previously. As they come together for Ellie's wedding, things start to take a sinister turn. Is it something to do with that night? Who else knows as each of them hasn't told a sole. This was quite slow at first, gently building the tension until the reveal. I didn't guess who it was. There are plenty of red herrings and twists to keep it entertaining. The atmosphere of the wedding setting keeps the tensity high. Thanks to Netgalley and Avon Books for the ARC in return for an honest review.
3 friends Ellie, Sofia and Rose make a secret vow in school years ago never to speak of a particular incident that occured. Now 12 years later, and the 3 friends are all reunited for Ellie's Destination wedding at an isolated Lighthouse.
But things soon start to go wrong. Someone is desperately trying to sabotage each of the women's personal lives and also the wedding. Someone is out to make them pay for what happened all those years ago.
This was a great summer thriller, with an interesting plot. The story was told in dual timelines and alternating perspectives of the 3 women. It had good pacing and good character development. I was invested in all 3 characters stories and I liked the fact that they were equally interesting - I couldn't pick a favourite - they all had their issues and demons they were dealing with.
I also loved the plot twists in the book - did not see them coming at all.
Rated 3.75 rounded to 4⭐
Thanks to NetGalley for sending me an ARC of this book for an honest review
Four friends made a vow 12 years ago to never speak about a fateful night. They have now met up again for a destination wedding, only when they arrive things start to go wrong and they soon start to think someone is trying to punish them.
This sounded like a fun, simple read and it ended up being an entertaining thriller. I enjoyed the Australian setting and the wedding location. The story is told in the friend’s different voices and I found this compelling, especially discovering their individual backstories and relationship with one another. There is also a past narrative that helps build the background story.
Even though the characters were interesting, I found I didn’t really form a connection with any of them and I also found the story quite predictable, guessing the main reveal early on. Even so, I had fun discovering what the vow was and found this to be a simple, solid thriller. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.
The Vow by Stefanie London is a masterpiece! A group of school friends come together again to celebrate one of them getting married. Ellie, a famous film star is having a very glitzy wedding, planned by Sophia, who is a wedding planner. Rose is coming along to help out, but ultimately show off her little boy! We are told about how they are all being targeted by someone unknown and it’s affected their whole lives. They have a secret and someone knows how to scare them into thinking they will out them. As far as they’re concerned, they are the only ones keeping the tragic event to themselves. So they have to try and work out who else could know. I found the characters very interesting, and especially how they handled what was happening to them. Some were weak and some were strong. I suppose some had more to lose… Many thanks to Avon Books for the opportunity to read this arc copy via Netgalley. My opinion is my own. #Netgalley, #Avonbooks, #AussieGalWrites.
