Soul Eater, Vol. 20 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next six chapters (82–87) of the on-going manga series.
Shinigami reunites with his son, Death the Kid – it is also the time for another step in the Index's plan. Death the Kid confesses to his father that the Noah he fought wasn't really human at all, because he was the personification of Greed. The Index wants to teach through the power of knowledge, but according to Shinigami, this power can create another form of madness, and so the Index creates another Noah with the personification of Wrath.
Meanwhile, Maka Albarn and Soul Evans are called to Moscow, as Crona has been found murdering Tsar Pushka, the death scythe in charge of Eastern Europe, and his partner with the power of mad blood. Feeling the power of madness, Soul Evans' wound opens up, awakes his true power, and loses his own reason against Maka Albarn. Inside his soul, the little ogre tries again to submit him to the power of madness but Soul Evans still refuses and finds his own self back.
At the same time, Crona keeps murdering people with the power of mad blood under Medusa's orders. In a moment of mother-child relationship, Crona loses himself and ends up stabbing Medusa. Meanwhile, Justin is found by Tezca Tlipoca and seems to have found out where the Kishin is hidden. Tezca tries to reason with Justin about what's right and wrong, but is eventually killed by him.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Atsushi Ōkubo. The tankōbon splits into two storylines: Death the Kid and his connection to The Index from the Book of Eibon, who has its own plans with the young shinigami. Meanwhile, Maka Albarn with her partner Soul Evans heads to Moscow, to stop Crona with the power of mad blood from causing more damage – as Crona has already killed a Russian Tsar.
All in all, Soul Eater, Vol. 20 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
