Such a cute Earth Day book to read with my class. I love how it does not just talk about how to help the earth, but also why, and the reasons are relatable to the kids. We want to conserve water because the earth uses water to make snowflakes! The beaches are beautiful, but trash makes them dirty. Great story, I highly recommend for a class or if you have children you are teaching to be environmentally friendly.

For young readers (K-2)?
Book is made of recycled paper
Talks about Max the monster who abuses electricity, water, and materials--very wasteful. Then a blackout happens and he learned much about the beauty of the life outside and started to protect it and throw away garbage and not be wasteful. Has vocabulary to support pictures and book.

Cute read, but nothing really special. A good introduction for little ones to learn about recyling and reducing waste. As well as a good way for them to learn how little things humans do create extensive use.

Preachy and ridiculous. Some little kid wasting water or littering isn’t great but they’re not to blame for what corporations and bad government policies have done to the planet. Get outta here with that.

The book talks about a monster named Max. Max is mean to the earth, he litters, uses too much water, too much electricity, and more. When the power goes out he sees how pretty the earth is and realizes he needs to be kind to the earth and keep it pretty for the people, animals, and plants.

Max the little monster made messes, then there was a blackout. This turned his world upside down. He saw the beauty of the Earth and he chose to defend it. Max improved upon his knowledge base, and did better. Max became known as the little green monster for his efforts to save the Earth.

Max is a little monster who likes to litter and never, ever recycles. Then the electricity goes out and he sees how exciting and beautiful the Earth is and that it will need his help to stay that way! Definitely a cute book and it's made from 100% recycled paper and soy ink which is an added bonus. When Max experiences a black out it forces him to look at the world in a new way and he discovers things he never noticed before, like the bright full moon, the shining stars and the noises of the insects outside. Max realizes how beautiful it all is and decides to start picking up his litter, playing outside in the leaves rather than watching TV, turning off lights/TV when he's finished, and recycling his bottles and cans. And sometimes, he even hugs trees. :) At the end he is no longer a little monster, but a little green monster. Bright colours and really cute illustrations make it a fun read and there's a kid-friendly glossary at the end for Max's "new words" with definitions of what it means to compost, litter, recycle etc.
