PART TWO (of Four) Abandoned and humiliated, Melanie tries her best to maintain her composure as Bram explains the reason for Tristan leaving--something called a “mate claim frenzy”. In other words, the next time Tristan comes face to face with her, his inner dragon will take control and claim her for his own. Both Bram and Samira try to convince her to accept his attentions earlier than her contract specifies or risk putting not only herself, but also the members of their clan in danger.
Tristan stays away from Melanie as long as possible, but to prevent his dragon from completely taking over, he returns to Stonefire’s lands the afternoon after the First Kiss ceremony. When he shows up naked on Melanie’s doorstep, his human-half maintains control long enough to garner her consent.
Now it’s only a matter of time before Melanie conceives and fulfills her contract. But once she does, will Tristan overcome his hatred of humans and stay with her, or will he push her away?
Sacrificed to the Dragon: Part Two is 14,000 words of dragon-shifter/BBW romance. It is the second entry in the Sacrificed serial, chronicling Melanie Hall's efforts to fulfill her contract and conceive a dragon-shifter child. The story contains strong sexual themes and language, and is not intended for readers under the age of 18. These stories are meant to be read in order. Thank you!
Jessie Donovan has sold over half a million books, has given away hundreds of thousands more to readers for free, and has even hit the NY Times and USA Today bestseller lists. She is best known for her dragon-shifter series, but also writes about magic users, aliens, and even has a crazy romantic comedy series set in Scotland. When not reading a book, attempting to tame her yard, or traipsing around some foreign country on a shoestring, she can often be found interacting with her readers on Facebook. She lives near Seattle, where, yes, it rains a lot but it also makes everything green.
This is definitely starting to pick up. We finally get our romance heating up, and even though its not all lovey dovey...it's more than enough to satisfy, especially since Tristan is all brooding, alpha. I love it!
But, again, the serials are pissing me off. This would have been so much more enjoyable had I not had to stop every time I need to know what happens next. The story always ends at such an inconvenient spot, its quite frustrating.
Overall, a very quick, easy read and fun. On to part three! :)
The cover is beautiful :) I like it, but still love part one’s cover more :)
I always review the books I read based on my own enjoyment level, so remember this is like an opinion we all have them, and you don’t have to agree with me :) I was given a copy by the author, but after I read Part One and loved it, I went and bought this part too!! I do this a lot when given a copy and it is already out especially if it is under a dollar :)
This is under 50 pages and a quick read. Not sure if this means short story or novella, but really does it matter. This is a 4 part serial and only the first 2 parts are out at the moment which may kill me…lol Serials are like a TV show where you have an episode worth of stuff going on. That being said some authors do this better than others. I like the way Jessie does it, but still secretly wish it was a whole novel length book because I really like this world.
I really like Melanie as a character, but I like women who are strong and don’t take crap from anyone especially when they are also compassionate and understanding too. Tristan…oh Tristan…one minute I love you and the next I want to slap you, so you are just like a real man :) lol I really like Bram because he is honest and tells it like it is. I really hope this because a series of novels because I want more of this world that Jessie has created :) Of course, I do love my shifter books.
I recommend this serial to those who like shifter serials, but remember it is not all out yet…only the first 2 parts are out so some of you may opt to wait until it is all out. Now I have to wait until September….uggggg!! Have I ever mentioned that I’m not very patient at the waiting game…well I guess I’ll go read something new :)
Part 2 (5 chapters again....sigh). Contemporary alternate universe with dragon shape shifters living on reservations in England. This story has rather crude sex. Unprotected, since the point is to get the heroine pregnant.
Part 2 has some good points & bad. Tristan acts like a douche through most of it. He comes back from his flight naked & aroused & Melanie agrees to have sex early (she was given some time to get used to things). The sex is crudely written. Not so much a turn on when the author writes - "His hands caressed her large, squishy buttocks." Say WHAT? The heroine is described as plump, which is fine. I really don't care to have the words large & squishy in sex scenes.
For the most part, still an interesting, but short, short, story.
Despite an interesting continuation in this serial, with developing relations between Tristan and his human sacrifice, Melanie Hall, I was bitterly disappointed by the basic, unimaginative and downright crude language used to portray the erotic scenes. It completely spoiled my enjoyment of the book and broke the suspension of disbelief.
The couple have a difficult relationship, in less than normal circumstances, but when they were lying together or thinking about each other there are other ways to explain away their coupling other than the repeated use of the 'f' word; not to mention coarse and lazy descriptions of body parts.
I'd still like to know how this serial ends, but I'm no longer engaged enough with the writing to pursue it.
This review is for all 4 parts of this series. This is a series about a different kind of world. A world where shape-shifting dragons live in England and need human females to bear their young. It was kind of a little out there but surprisingly a good read. In this book, Melanie is desperate to save her brothers life and the only thing that will do it is blood of a dragon. Howver, there is a catch she has to pretty much live with a dragon and have his kids. I have read books with something like this concept before and haven't love them. However, this was actually a good read. The characters were fun and the story was fast paced and still had a good mix of steam thrown in. If you are looking for a good shapeshifting book give this a shot.
Opposites attract are most definitely true. I have been drawn even further into their relationship as Melanie tries to learn more about his people and culture. Tristan stubborn as ever is scared of trusting any human after the death of his mother yet his dragon helps prove her words of truth. Melanie wants Tristan in all ways but can she convince him to give them a try? I can't wait to read more and find out.
Grrrr.....Why was there not more!!! I really loved part 2 but I was so disappointed when it ended and remembered I now have to wait for part 3, but saying all that I know it will be worth it. I love the direction the book is going in, I love the storyline and definately the characters and I see so much potential for future stories which I hope will come!
If u want my review DO NOT hinder it by "requirements"!!!!!!!!!
This book could be longer as well as put together better. It has a great storyline but too short. This is good criticism. It needs completed. And it won't let me add anything else.
*Review for all 4 parts of “Sacrificed to the Dragon”...2.5 STARS* I started this little shifter serial on an impulse recommendation. The whole “dragon-shifter” aspect had me piqued. I went in with low expectations as it IS a serial-which I’m prone to not liking-and because…hello it’s about DRAGON-SHIFTERS! Cool? YES…also the makings for some weirdness….
I’m reviewing this as a whole rather than piece by piece, but I WILL tell you, if you are reading them individually be prepared as they END abruptly….
The whole SHIFTER world that the author created is really interesting and what really drew me to the story….how humans cohabitate with the shifters in a very segregated ignorant way, but we also have this crazy ass “sacrificing” barter system to make babies for healing blood? YEAH.
The “Clans” aspect was cool…the story is a very strong stubborn female meets alpha asshole and within a short time they break each other down and fall in love. It’s a classic HEA with all the erotic steaminess thrown in for good measure.
One thing I couldn’t decide if I LOVED or HATED was that the “dragon half” of the shifter was almost it’s own being…so it would converse internally with the “human half”…..very instinctual beings hmmn? Sometimes funny…sometimes…weird. I don’t even know.
I would definitely be curios to keep going with the series and see what happens to the other characters, over all it wasn’t BAD just a good zone out read.
This is bad, people. Take the premise of a woman prostituting herself to the dragon clan to be a broodmare, and it is prostituting, not being a surrogate, she's doing it for payment and there is no option of artificial insemination, just "fucking," as the reader is reminded over and over and over again (because that's apparently all women are good for). Add to that the threats that if she doesn't let the male fuck her by a certain time he's going to rape her repeatedly (because apparently men should be forgiven for not being able to control themselves). Then throw in some seriously unsexy, unromantic sex that reads more like a violent attack (because apparently women just need to be pounded to orgasim), a distinct lack of actual conversation between the characters (because who would want that), and a male that treats a female with cruel disdain (because men are so devoid of emotion they can't even like someone) and you end up with a book so disgustingly heavy handed and unappealing I just can't take anymore. Plus, the writing is clunky.
OMG! This series just keeps getting better and better! Donovan has crafted an intricate plot that will leave you breathless and dying for more. You also really get to know the main characters better in this instalment. Heated lust combines with the need to get to know one another and creates a relationship full of heat and resentment. At the same time, you see the characters who are willing to give a little to get to know this. Combine this with Donovan’s brilliant storytelling and larger than life descriptions and you get a story that you won’t be able to put out of your mind.
Overall? Donovan takes serials to a whole new level with this instalment. It was a phenomenal read that leaves you dying for more. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys shifters, but if you don’t enjoy cliff-hangers then you may want to wait until all instalments have been released.
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
Tristan is in a “mate claim frenzy” so Melanie has no doubt that it’s only a matter of time before she conceives and fulfills her contract. Will Tristan overcome his hatred of humans and stay with her or will he push her away in this riveting novella.
This fast paced and well written plot keeps readers hovering on the edge of anticipation and captures the imagination as Melanie struggles to accept her place among the dragons.
The attraction that Tristan’s dragon feels for Melanie sends them both to heights of ecstasy during the “mate claim frenzy” with lots of super hot sex, but Tristan’s past issues are still clouding his judgment and the reader can’t help but be drawn deeper into their story as they wait with anticipation to discover if Tristan will let it ruin everything.
This fascinating story continues to enthrall me with its captivating characters and I can’t wait to read the next one.
Melanie and Tristan are starting life together....at least temporarily. He is prejudiced against humans because of his past. She doesn't know about dragons due to their secretive nature but has made a bargain she's determined to abide by. His dragon wants her but does the man? How can she have sex with a man she doesn't know? Will she become pregnant? Can she find purpose and meaning in a life with dragons? Slowly they are developing a relationship and some trust. I'm ready for book #3 and more answers.
Loving part 2 even more than part 1. Now they have got together, she would like to trade him in for another, he has figured out she is his mate. He is driven to claim her for good , but the rules of the contract is she has two weeks to adjust before she has to carry out the contract. Dragon/human mates are telling her why he suddenly left, the claiming call. They try to talk her into excepting him early..Because he is loosing control of his dragon that wants her. now we wait for part 3 due out soon maybe by next month.Sign up for her newsletter and she will keep you up to date on when.
I really enjoyed the second part of the series. I'm looking forward to the next part to see how Melanie gets along with Tristan's sister and if she can win them over. She seems to have won over some of the clan and is doing well with the little ones. The chemistry is still strong between her and Tristan but Tristan is very much resisting it because of his hatred of humans. He seems to be realising that he may be judging Melanie unfairly now but it remains to be seen if he (and his sister who we've yet to meet) can get over their prejudice.
The characters are great and it makes you want to keep reading and impatient for the series to continue I love a good book to curl up with in my favorite place when you get this book you will be hooked and impatient for the next installment and it will seem like it is not long enough because you will want to keep reading I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I on pins and needles waiting for the next part. Sacrificed to the Dragon: Part Two (A BBW Dragon-shifter Paranormal Romance) (Stonefire Dragons Book 2)
I love this series. I'm dying for the next book. Such a strong female character. She gives herself to the dragons to attempt to breed a child for them in exchange for healing dragon blood to save her dying brother. Now she faces a unknown future. Will she become an unloved incubator or can she have a future with this stubborn dragon man. Can he get past his hatred of humans to help his clan and give his family a future generation. Will pushing her away hurt his clan and endanger his dragon's happiness. I can't wait to find out what their future hola.
Since this is a four part book this book takes up immediately where the first book left off. When Melanie is successfully pregnant she wakes to find herself alone and Tristan no where in site. While she believes that it's because he has done his duty, it's actually because he and his dragon aren't in agreement. He wants to leave her and his dragon wants to keep her because his dragon knew at the moment he saw her that he wanted her and just for a short time.
As expected, this book ends on cliffhanger as well. On to part three...
In this installment, the author reveals more of Mel's strong, determined character. Mel handles Tristan's rejection with dignity & honor. Tristan is clearly going to have to work to get back into her good graces which will be fun to read. The conflict between humans & dragon shifters is also explored a bit more giving some insight to Tristan's callous behavior.
Once again, my only complaint is the serial format. It chops up the plot unnecessarily which makes the story a bit disjointed.
So far i have read the three separate parts, i dont want to give the story away by posting a spoiler, so all ill say is ...... These books are fabulous, completely different from any other dragon shifter books ive read, and i love them, really hoping for more books in the same series after part 4.
Jessie has other Shifter books too, i highly recommend the author, and the books, fabulous storyline, love the characters, if you havent read them yet, please do, you wont be disappointed xxx
Nothing new...Tristan is still a jerk. Melanie is knocked up and still trying to hang in there. The dragon children are cute, not cuddly, but cute. Samira and Liam are Melanie's protectors which is good to know she has someone other than Bram looking out for her at Stonefire since "Mr. I Hate Humans" still hasn't come around (I get his reasons but just for the record, he is still an a$$hole in Part II)! On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2.5 stars.
I really enjoyed how Mel and thristan ,really have feelings for one another but don't want to give in to it,so both of them are trying to stay away from one another, she is going to have his baby made up her mind that she was going to stay and help to raise her baby, and his dragon in side him
keeps fighting him to take her back home. It's really a great story I can't wait to read the other books in this series
Well written and entertaining This is the second book of the series and was extremely enjoyable to read. I do wish it had been longer. Each book is a continuation of the story and not self-contained stories. It does leave you wanting m more of the story and the well written works by this author.
Melanie and Tristan have their First Kiss, a ritual done with all of the clan watching. Tristan runs away fom Melanie. While Tristan avoids Melanie, she teaches young shifters about humans. Would have preferred to read the whole story at one time but have enjoyed it enough to want to read the whole story of Melanie and Tristan.
This story keeps getting hotter by the book and keeps me glued to it. I can not wait for book three and four will buy them both. The author did a great job telling a story of a human and a Dragon shifter. If you like paranormal and shifters you need to read this series.
