The Edge #2

On the Edge: The Edge, Book 2

Rate this book
You've never experienced a romance like The Edge.

I promised you a bed of rose petals. He grabbed my hand under the table, tightening his grip as if he were falling from a precipice and our connection was the only thing saving him from certain death.

They were beautiful.

You smell like apples. Roses were wrong. There was nothing soft about his tone, but his quiet words were for me alone. I want everything to be right for you.

Caden, look at me.

I caught his gaze and held it. He was confident. Arrogant. Sure he had a place in the world. And under that was the man who needed me to be that place.

If I could… He smiled and shook his head at a silly thought he wanted to dismiss but couldn't—a contradiction in keeping with the whole man I married. If I could write my love in the sky, it wouldn't be big enough. I'd run out of room. I'd fall out of the air trying to say it all.

He was saying it all. Every day. And he was falling out of the sky to do it.

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestselling author. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping a single cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

How do I even begin to summarize how this book made me feel in words? While my heart keeps breaking, I’m falling deeper and harder in love with Greyson and Caden. Even Damon has found his way inside my heart. Once again, CD Reiss has shown me why this series is a must-read. Her characters are broken and yet their survival and healing feels almost imminent. I keep thinking a solution is going to appear in the next chapter… and then the next… with no ‘cure’ in sight. Yet, I’m still wishing and hoping and praying because these characters are worthy of a happy ending.

While Caden is slowly coming apart while stubbornly and stoically believing he’s got it handled, Greyson doesn’t know what to do and I felt for her struggle. I admired her determination to stand by her husband and to lovingly support him. I believe she has more than proven how true her love for him is, especially now that she’s faced with no choice but to love all sides of him. Even if she felt like she was losing pieces of herself in the process.
I was con man and mark. Thief and victim. A willing dupe in my own web of lies.

Despite the pain, the uncertainty, the conflicts, the fights, and the honest-to-goodness frustrations both felt with their current situation, there was never a moment in which I doubted how committed Caden and Greyson were to each other. The author allowed their love for one another to bleed out, page by page. Beneath the discomfort and the pushing of boundaries, beneath the lashing out and the challenges, the intimacy of their union stood just as strong as ever.
I knew with the same conviction that the sun rose and set that I loved her.

Every part of Caden loved his wife. He wanted her with his whole heart and soul. She called to him and her very essence nourished all of his needs.

As for Greyson, as I said, her love for her husband was more than evident. When it came to her body’s needs, he more than satisfied all of them. Soft and slow, hard and fast, she loved her dominant lover as well as her sensual giver.

Or how about every time Greyson described his cock?! Hot freaking damn!!

I need the next book, Broken Edge, NOW!! July 10th people. Can’t come soon enough. I’m just saying, I didn’t even cover everything I thought, felt, or wanted from this book. I’m still coping with all that it gave me. If you pay attention to anything in this review, pay attention to this statement: READ IT!! And Enjoy! xo

I’d married a strong man. A rock. A man who didn’t know how to fail.

Say it.

He was the calm eye of a deadly storm, maintaining his composure in the worst of circumstances.

Say it. You’re getting warmer.

I’d married a man who never comes undone. I’d married strong, not weak.

Warmer.

I didn’t marry a crazy person.

Jackpot.

Or she did?! In this book, Greyson tried to find what’s wrong with her husband and somehow she knew. Damon/Caden struggled with each other to win Greyson for themselves. They both have one-eighty personality difference with each other. The only common thing is their love for their wife. Caden was like a beast, without emotion. But Damon was always thinking of her, caring for her, tried his best to protect her from Caden but he is manipulative. But she doesn’t need protection. She needs her husband, all of him but she only has two unpredictable halves of a single sane husband!

I liked it! Now I know what’s happening and I’m anxious to know what’s going to happen to Damon/Caden. I can’t decide which one is a better husband, the day husband or the night husband! Or which one I prefer! But I don’t want both of them to disappear, especially Damon!
It was well-written with a good story-line. Told in dual POV, 1st person. It’s the second installment in "The Edge" series and has to be read in order. All in all, it was an enjoyable read and hope you like it as well!

I’m in love with this series so far!!! It is dark and it has BDSM based sex in it; just figured I should include that warning!!! The thing is though, this is a book that will captivate your attention and have you guessing the whole way through! I so badly want to discuss this story with others... it’s that kind of story! If I had of known that, I would have read this with my fellow Buddy Reader!!!

I’m sorry but I don’t want to give anything about this series away!! It is one of those you should go in blind with. I have learned at the end of this second instalment that readers should read the Prequel ( Cutting Edge) before continuing on to Book 3! So that is what I am going to do!

I’m very glad I waited until this series was fully out before I read it! This way I have the details fresh in my head! I highly recommend this series. Anything I have read from CD Reiss has never let me down yet! I am super eager to get to the prequel, I will be back when I finish it!😘

This is a spoiler free 5 Star review....

Book 2 in a 4 part series.....

*Book 1 was the introduction to a huge revelation.

*The Prequel set the stage of how this story started.

Book 2........well it just solidifies the dark, sexual, troubling, volatile and loving relationship of Greyson and Caden and their life as they adjust to being civilians. The secrets and the dysfunctions are front and center and are enveloped in shades of gray. It’s shocking and disturbing at times as well as endearing and heartfelt. Emotions are taken on a wild roller coaster ride and sometimes it’s nauseating as well as thrilling. But mark my words, Book 2 squeezes your gut and never lets go!!!!

This series has a major twist. You learn about it in Book 1. But to discuss aspects of that spoiler would be a disadvantage to a reader. You, the reader, should experience the twist as you read the book. So my review ends here. Just know that when reading a CD Reiss book.... the passion, intensity, and sometimes depravity are worded in extraordinary beauty. She writes with a lyrical prowess that ignites a story beyond measure. The Edge Series is darkness and emotions at its best. A mind trip to rattle, grip and seize your emotions and well being.

This story ends of a cliffy of course. A cliffy that sets your imagination on fire trying to figure out scenarios for Book 3 that I’m sure will squeeze my gut even tighter than Book 2. CD Reis is both brilliant and depraved all rolled into one. A must read series so far!!

“If you’re ever in the darkness again...don’t ever doubt that I love you.” - Greyson

I do believe the wound which opened up as my heart was cleaved in two from reading Rough Edge and Cutting Edge has just been made deeper and more jagged with reading this latest book in the series, On the Edge. Along with my wounded heart is a disquieted mind as this master storyteller weaves a heavy and complicated patterned tapestry of events and determinants that result in a strong capable brilliant man’s alleged personality split… wrapped around his fated, unquestionable love for one woman. And… this woman’s dedicated and determined effort as both a loving wife and educated psychiatrist to knit him back together into the whole man she married. Like most readers, I try to parse the writer’s every clue as to what happened in the past…what is really happening now and try to guess at a conclusion. It’s only human nature.

Ah, but this is a true masterpiece and the answers are tucked tightly in between the pages…between the words even. So, there are no easy or readily discernible answers. Then of course there is the eroticism…who can think about clues, mysteries or anything plot related when there is such a devastating Dominant man described as Caden St. John and his endowments…and the things he does… Add to the mix Damon and his particular charm. Somehow my focus is stolen by the overwhelming eroticism.

I am astonished at the intimate revelations of both Caden and Damon. I have never read anything quite like this. Happily, I will even admit to having reread it. It is perfectly fascinating. I will say it again…it is also hot AF!

I appreciate how honestly Greyson is written as a character. I can somewhat identify with her. She is a psychiatrist who specializes in treating veterans with PTSD. She knows that Caden’s traumatic experiences in his deployments contributed to his current psychiatric disorder, but she is not ready to attribute his condition entirely to PTSD. She is committed to him broken as much as she committed to him a whole man when she married him. While she tries to take the proper clinical steps as a psychiatrist to hasten his return to wholeness, she sometimes gives into the temptation that is her beautiful husband…his voice, his smell, his touch. Greyson also discovered her kink with Caden just before he manifested his disorder. She can be dangerous in her desires which begs the “unasked” question…? She has her own issues and the situation is wearing on her sanity.

At this point in the series, I cannot be sure of what the author is ultimately saying. I get some ideas on how destructive jealousy can be…That war leaves it mark on all who experience it…That love wakes up a sleeping heart and will always be the motivation to protect its beloved. Does love itself reside in a discrete area of the mind or does it permeate the entirety of the personhood touching all the “self” beyond personality?

I am consumed with ideas and theories but as this is not a free-for-all and only a simple review, I will hold my pen. I will say if you love a mind bending, heart rending, searingly hot erotic romantic suspense then what are you waiting for? Jump right in with the Prequel to the series, Cutting Edge. The delightful torture begins free for the asking.

With the way Rough Edge ended I couldn’t wait to get back with Greyson and Caden.
On The Edge is thrilling, intoxicating and psychological. Holy moly was I captivated by Greyson and Caden’s marriage. I’m not going to give anything away. This story is best enjoyed by going in blind.

Greyson is definitely in a tough predicament when it comes to Caden and his mental state. I had no idea what was going on and again I had my own thoughts on why Caden was behaving the way he was. Again I also enjoyed Greyson cause she had her own reasons for acting certain ways. She’s been hiding her sexual desires and now they’re finally being unleashed thanks to Caden. He knows how to bring her pleasure. Damn their scenes were hot as hell.

C.D. Reiss knows how to write dark erotica with psychological elements and with On The Edge she succeeds flawlessly. I was on the edge of my seat numerous times trying to figure out this story. Reiss is a master storyteller and leaves nothing to chance with every twist and surprises in On The Edge. I just need the next book. ASAP!

ON THE EDGE is the absolute best name for this second part of the series. I was literally on the edge of my seat with the intensity of the narrative, questioning what the heck was going on and where was I being taken, all in the best way possible.

The psychological aspects blew my mind in terms of the context of what the characters were going through. This second part ramps up the intensity and continues the high emotion and dark sexual activity between the protagonists which is totally necessary within the parameters of this love story and has an important impact on the story arc as a whole. I'm still thinking about it, weighing up the scenarios, trying to think how I can explain my thoughts about the story without spoiling in any way. There is something major about one of the characters, something that is a result of the fall out of their past, something that the reader partly discovers early on in the series, something that is best uncovered as the story unfolds. I'm still trying to fully understand and waiting to discover more information as to the whys which I know the author will reveal by stripping layers in the most delectable way in the remaining two novellas of this series.

And the ending of book 2.... I did not see coming but it has definitely attacked my feelings and left me reeling... I can't even coherently explain but I need to know what happens and am waiting with high anticipation and bated breath for book 3!!

NOTE: 'On the Edge,' marks the second part of THE EDGE series which comprises of four novella length books and a prequel which the author recommends should be read before book 3

As the timeline continues without interruption in On the Edge, book two of the Rough Edge series, Greyson and Caden are trying to confront the thing that has driven a wedge within Caden and potentially within their marriage. As they begin to recognize signs, they alter their behavior, but extracting certain answers remain elusive.

“I’d married a strong man. A rock. A man who didn’t know how to fail.”

Delving into tough mental health issues, the effect takes hold creating a myriad of emotions and reactions. For Caden, the dynamic becomes explosive causing him to make choices that could further harm the outcome. Though Greyson tries to balance her psychiatrist hat with also being a wife, her roles complicate as much as they serve to simplify the process.

“Every word was a challenge to my assumptions, and every space between her questions was an opportunity.”

As the plot unfolds, the level of complexity and conflict rises. With such strong personalities at play, no one is willing to surrender without a fight. Getting into Caden’s POV slowly reveals more about his past and how the mind reacts in order to survive. Though Caden remains confident, detached and irresistibly domineering, there is a screaming vulnerability that percolates under the surface. Reading about his struggle is fascinating yet painful, as his emotions vow to duel until the end. I loved the developing dynamic and how complicated Caden’s battle is becoming.

“I’ve always wanted you. That’s all there is to it. Past, present, future. It just is. There’s no starting point, and there’s no end.”

In this multi-faceted and gripping story the plot points continue to build creating tension and a sense of foreboding. Knowing these characters are willing to sacrifice and fight for each other, the stakes are high considering what is at risk. With the ending at a pivotal point in their lives, the author is successfully taking the reader further into the depths and intricacies of the characters’ minds and hearts.

On the Edge, is an intensely realistic story that touches upon human weakness and immeasurable strength. CD Reiss has expertly created a narrative that leaves the reader hanging on every word. I highly recommend.

Genre: Erotic Romance
Type: Book 2 of 4 from The Edge series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Caden St. John and Greyson Frazier's lives were thrown into disarray when they found out what what had been putting a wedge between them. While trying to cope with the changes they both made efforts to fix their situation. But desperate time called for desperate measures, and unbeknownst to them, their actions could potentially ruined what they held dear.

I was a wreck, but Caden’s eyes burned bright blue with a desire to tear me apart. God, I wanted to be shredded.

Book 2 thrust the couple into an unfamiliar situation. I love seeing how the characters coped and how the measures they took or didn't take affected their relationships. My favorite part was when they battled to usurp one another and what motivated them to do so.

"I don’t feel much. But without you, I feel nothing. You’re the only thing keeping me human.”

The intensity continued in this book but on a slightly different tone. I have my favorite and my hope for the characters, so I'm looking forward to see which direction the author will take in next book.

Holy crap that ending! This series is all consuming and I'm completely enthralled with what is happening with Caden and Greyson. I have no idea where their story is going and if I'll recover when we get there.

This series is classic CD Reiss. It's dark, gritty and mesmerizing! I don't feel like I can say anything else without spoiling things. Just know you need to start with book 1. By the end of that book you won't need any words from me. ARC provided by author.

"With Damon/ Caden resting on my office couch, I made a few decisions. Then remade them. Then I accepted my inability to change anything outside my own actions and decided between what I could choose and what I couldn’t control. I could decide to stay with my husband no matter what. So, I would do that. I could decide to respect him as a man, not a part of my caseload. So, I would do that. I could decide to accept this problem, whatever it was, while simultaneously helping him get better. Acceptance was an amorphous goal. But I could commit to the process. I was human, fallible and imperfect, but I was dedicated. All I had to do was commit to him as fully now as I had in my parents’ backyard on the day I married him."

I can’t even cope right now!

I am breathless. Sweating. I have palpitations. In fact the whole book I was on edge. Fuck you Christine. I let you do it to me, time and time again. Why do I do it to myself? I know she will screw with my brain. Why? Why? Why do I do it? I need help.

Caden and Damon! Who would I want? A man who wants to hurt me or a man who wants to protect me.

They fight! They play dirty! They don’t deserve Grey. I hate them, right now. Both of them. One of them. All of them. I don’t know who is who. I don’t know who I hate and who I love. I’m flustered. I’m lost.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Read in a day. I need to read it again.

On the Edge by CD Reiss has me literally on the edge once again. This book and series has me obsessed. My heart and emotions were all over the place because Reiss has done her magic. She has me spellbound to her poetic words and flawed characters. This may be a complicated love story, but it is a love story and so if you are like me then I highly recommend you to read this series. Get lost in the proverbial rabbit hole as CD Reiss will take you on one emotional, angsty and twisty ride where you are completely in awe of her flawless and seamless writing. Honestly, this book and series might be my new addiction and obsession...a dangerous addiction but I wouldn’t trade it for anything else.

This one I liked better than Book 1, but not as much as the prequel. There were still moments when I got annoyed - like I really don't like Damon all that much. In some ways, tho I can't imagine ever "loving" someone like that, rough emotionless Caden is much more appealing. He's strong, in control, and tho he pushes boundaries and hurts Greyson, he still loves her despite all that. Damon is too manipulative and soft.

And yet, what I like about this book is that once in a while the author reminds the reader that Damon and Caden are the same man. Just diff aspects of him. When he's whole and both sides are together, he becomes that irresistible force of nature that he was in Book 0, the alpha male with a vulnerable heart that I fell in love with. (Or at least in awe with).

It was somewhat surprising to realize that Damon was the one who asked Greyson to marry him. He's the one who manipulated her into being with him. If he hadn't been "born" at that time, maybe that would have been the end of Caden and Grey's brief and stormy affair. They would have gone their separate ways. Maybe Grey would have gone back to shacking up with Ronin, who knows.

I wonder who it was Grey was afraid of marrying. The slices of Damon she saw in Caden, or the rough tough Caden. Becomes she seems to love whole-heartedly without doubt or regrets the Caden that's whole. So she couldn't have been afraid of him.

Not unlike some other novels I enjoy, I fall headlong in lust or awe or love with the Hero and read on for his sake, but feel ambivalent about the heroine. I can't say I like Grey all that much. Prob bc I can't really relate to her. When she's a tough military woman, I'm intimidated. When she's a submissive masochist I find it...unappealing.

So maybe that's why this book is 4 stars. Maybe 3.75.

But still good enough that I bought the next one.

5 "I've put my fingers on your heart and felt it beat." Stars

Like many of of this author's brilliantly told, psychological stories, I have no idea how to review this particular piece of work because I have no idea what in the name of anything is going on. The above quote I've titled this review with holds especially important to me as a reader. It shows the very tight yet withering tether of the cord connecting this to characters. It's literal, this actually happened and the very precarious nature of having done this so accurately describes the very precarious nature of their relationship. While I don't know how to review this, I do know I loved every twisted, toxic, sordid word of On the Edge. The whole thing from prequel through this book has been absolutely intoxicating. It's different, it's edgy (pun intended), it's dark, it's confusing, it's blatantly sexual, and it's powerful, desperate love surrounded in a cloud of mental instability, brilliance, and deep shadowed pasts.

"Everything could shatter."

The importance of this quote compels me as much as I find it ironic. C.D. Reiss uses her words and phrases deliberately, keeping you hooked. This one, to me, because everything in the lives of Caden St. John and Greyson Frazier is in fact shattering. I don't know how. I don't know the true catalysts or the true meaning of why. I'm learning as much as I'm being entertained. And that's the true beauty of this story. It's a mind trip unlike any other but you're completely consumed much like Greyson appears to be throughout the story. I applaud C.D. Reiss for this unique story and her intricately, delicate, and layered way of telling it. There's a lot here and it's not for the figuring out, really. It's for the consummation of your mind while reading it. The journey here is not easy, it's not light and fun, it's intriguingly dark and psychological and beatifically complex but that doesn't give this particular blowing of the mind any less impact. I'm completely invested in these characters and this author's story of them. And I can't wait for more.

If I thought Rough Edge had a 'rough' ending....On the Edge left me feeling exactly that: on the edge!!! OMGosh, what an ending. My heart was beating, my mind was racing, and my curiosity is piqued!! The way she writes these books, these endings, I am craving so much more and looking forward to starting the next one!! Completely twisted up right now wondering what could possibly be happening next!

Once again, Reiss's descriptions were so tactile and vivid. I saw everything. I tasted everything. I smelled, felt, heard it all as if I were there. To be able to not only have every sensory aroused with her words, but to feel all those emotions as if they were personally affecting me? Wow. Just wow. I was once again drawn in, completely addicted to this story that was taking me on a crash course in the depth of one's love for another, no matter the circumstances. Heavy, deep storyline. Wow.

"The kiss wasn't a kiss yet, and he owned me. Every touch was devotion and care. He took nothing for granted, and as a result, I was swept up in a whirl of his attention."

I literally want to crawl inside her brain (morbid!!) and see how she works!! How does one come up with this kind of story; the depth and the crazy, the heartbreak and the desire?? What a painful reality that Greyson has to deal with that I am not even sure I could pretend to accept....or learn to deal with. I couldn't begin to fathom the fear, let alone the turmoil of this crisis she was living through and dealing with. Her husband is one of the most intense men I've ever read, but he has a side of him that I love exploring through the pages of these books. I am completely mesmerized with the culpability that Caden feels for everything going on, yet there is so much more that we are exploring little by little with each new chapter Reiss brings us that I read with wonder as I turn the pages. Seriously...woah.

"If you're ever in the darkness again, don't ever doubt that I love you."

There is so much to ponder with this story as a whole. The what-ifs are astronomical. I can't even begin to imagine how I would deal with this type of mental invasion and be so collected about it. I think my favorite part about this book/series is the rate of information coming at me that is so overwhelming, and some of it, I'm strong enough to admit, confuses me. But that's why I cling to the story as deeply as I am. I want to read both sides and not have a bias, and the way Reiss set it up and delivered this one, it allowed me to read it with a certain amount wonder and intrigue, but also with a confident sense of concentration. Yes, my mind is racing the entire time.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series and I can't wait to jump into Broken Edge to find out what happens next. Total wide-eyed curiosity over here. These are quick, easy reads that will allow you to lose track of time while you are watching everything unfold. The discovery alone is amazing. I am so excited to start the next one!!!

"I wasn't important without you. I didn't even exist if you didn't."

This. Series.
Words can't really capture how riveting it is. I'm still reeling. I'm still asking myself - what the Hell did I just read. It's taken me days to be able to sit down and compose some coherent thoughts I'm so affected by this story and the latest developments in On The Edge. Ms. Reiss walks the fine line between deconstruction and dismemberment as she peel back the layers of Caden and Greyson, showing us the depth and richness of these characters, and tells us the story of their marriage. On the Edge is a seemingly quiet interlude after the chaos of war which anchors the early part of the story, cocooned in the brownstone that is both refuge and house of horrors. With every stroke of the pen and revelation, the reader gasps and our fascination grows. Caden and Greyson fit together like pieces of a puzzle, but it's a puzzle that keeps shifting and changing shape, as the effects of their war time experiences are revealed. It's so complex yet the depth of their love makes it all so simple. The characters Ms. Reiss has created are so vivid, deep, complex and relatable. They burrow into your soul and haunt your dreams. That is the mark of a master storyteller. Brava Ms. Reiss.

I legit don't know what to say in this review. I read this book with my heart in my throat most of the time, my stomach aching and breaths hard to come. I was completely fascinated all the way through.

I don't know how Greyson is continuing to function as a relatively normal person on a day to day basis with everything that is going on. I also don't know how Caden is functioning each day, but for entirely different reasons.

I think there are clues woven into this book that I'm supposed to be catching on to, but hell if I know what they are. I know I highlighted the shit out of it, though. I've quickly become obsessed with Greyson and Caden. I'm dying for more backstory on both of them. Christine throws a curveball at the end of this book, so it will be very interesting to see where this story goes next.

If the title of book 3 is any indication as to what is coming, I think the ride is going to get even bumpier!

Careful.
It hurts.
when you open them, it hurts!!

Now all bets are off ! We've officially entered into the St.John war zone. It's a minefield of emotions you navigate where combative personalities are hell bent on revenge. Men and their egos!! They'd actually chop the nose to spite the face, or jerk the foreskin off !! **smdh**
The story is becoming dangerous as it progresses. I read the entire book with bated breath and a sense of impending doom. CD is attempting to chart the complex terrain of human mind and add to that PTSD + childhood trauma, and you have an unexploded bomb ticking in the pages.
Would you rather be at the top of the Washington Monument with no way down or at the bottom of a narrow hundred-foot hole with no way up?

description

Anyway you cut it, you're bound to loose a limb or piece of your sanity. Don't know which is worse.
In this continuing battle of Damon/Caden war, the personalities clash and how! Sadly the victim is Greyson. The toll it's taking on her body & heart is equivalent to the pockmarks on her marriage. The things,(at this point I'm referring to both, because they're becoming detatched and ruthless) are dividing the hours of the day and portioning Grey's sentiments
“Isn’t it interesting that the sex you like comes from the man who appears during the day, and the man you can live with appears at night?”
It could've been really confusing in a lesser author's hands but CD manages to keep her threads clean and unjumbled.
The tragic figure of Caden drew most sympathy. He's fighting the shadow of himself and it gets really frustrating and unravelling for him to find the missing logs. What a fantastic scenario CD builds, what amazing imagination(it'd be a fantasy had it not been a truth), alas PTSD is no joke.
I’d spent hours trying to understand what consciousness was and when mine began. I’d had to do it without a single human reference.
I had no way of knowing if I was my own person or another man’s setback. In moments like this, when I had to define the indefinable, I was the loneliest man on the planet.

description

He and Damon weren’t communicating the nitty-gritty.
Now I had to say everything twice.
I’d probably have to describe what I wanted twice, argue twice, explain twice.

Is it the norm, is this how DID works?
Since there's no set pattern or formula to it and I have zero knowledge or expertise, I'm going to solely rely on CD's observations and interpretations. Which bring me to the handling of the story. I was bowled over simply by the hazardous topic, compound it with the treatment, research & narration. I'm gone ! Totally genuflecting now on the other side of the landmass CD . All hail !!
I read some scenes , some lines TWICE, it was so layered, I didn't wanna miss anything
In conclusion, go read this psychological revelation thriller. I insert "revelation" because I'm a novice, ignorant and apprenticed in this area. It's scary but really enlightening, changed my perspective and opened my eyes to a dreadful epidemic which is spreading unnoticed with alarming speed. If we do continue, and with present times(read "regime") this could end up with a body count more than all the wars combined!!

4.5 HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

WOW, WOW, WOW! This story is intense, erotic, engaging and all-around consuming. The journey between Caden and Greyson intensifies as they try to navigate marriage outside the military. It was obvious from the beginning that their journey would be anything but ordinary. Little did I know their path through this new life would be so psychologically off-balance. I truly didn't know what to expect and now that I'm in this tornado with Caden and Greyson, I wouldn't know how to get out if I tried. But here's the thing, I don't want to leave their world.

Caden is a quintessential strong, alpha male who does not back down where Greyson is concerned. He wants her, he must have her and the connection between them is off the charts explosive. Caden makes no attempt to hide how he feels about Greyson. He embraces the love he has for her and he loves her BIG, it's all consuming and at times feels bigger than life. Greyson feels the same about Caden, she's incredibly strong but we're finding out even she has limits. How much more can she take while they trudge through their own personal war?!?!

There's not much more I can say without giving the story away. It is so worth the journey to go into this series blind. Oh my gosh, you won't know what hit you and yet, you will embrace everything their journey throws at you. You will take every punch, every twist, every turn they have to give. Not only that, you will be screaming for more. Broken Edge cannot come soon enough!

I did it. I complete the story. See this series is more to me than just a tale. It hits so close to home on so many levels. I had to wait with that book, sitting idle on my ipad. I inhaled and just started. I became consumed with emotion. I felt deep sorrow, and pain for Grey as she tried to love, live and heal her husband.

As a woman, wife and true lover of another person I wanted to stroke her and tell her it would be alright. That her love was enough in the end. Even though I hadn't figured out just how it would end. But I felt as a reader she needed to stay her course, fight for her husband and their love.

Caden and Grayson. What do I say?

What can I say that isn't a spoiler?

Not much, as this is twisty. It's dark. It's emotional, it grips you, and it doesn't let go.

I hate spoilers. And for that reason, generally I leave vague reviews for earlier books in a longer series, and a more specific one for the last book, as by that point there are things that are less spoilers and more plot points.

We aren't there yet.

I have so much I want to say. So much I want to talk about, to get opinions on, and to discuss what happens now and where this will go next. I can say this book didn't go where I thought it would, so I'm guessing the next won't either.

But, really...what do I say? You're here, reading a review, to help decide if you should read this book.

Go with yes. Yes, you should.

But, if you haven't...start with the first one.

Love. Sex. Mystery. Oh, my! Book two of The Edge series is a page-turning trifecta.

"If I could write my love in the sky, it wouldn't be big enough. I'd run out of room. I'd fall out of the air trying to say it all."

Caden and Greyson are On The Edge after the events in book one, Rough Edge. Their enduring love a force that keeps them just this side of the abyss. As they work to navigate life after war and try to fit the pieces of their puzzle together, it's love that is the theme. Theirs leaps off the page. Devotion, sacrifice, empathy, possessiveness. Passion.

Sex scenes in this book have a purpose in the narrative. Steamy and unsettling, each one had me vacillating between reaching for a fan or clenching at my heart. All of them gave me a feeling of foreboding, enhancing the dark tone.

"I own your orgasms, your pain, your pleasure, your hunger. I've put my fingers on your heart and felt it beat. It's mine. I own this body. Every inch of it. Every bone. Every organ. Every drop of blood."

Wrapped around it all is a subtle, disturbing mystery, the who, how and why slippery and elusive.

"She was looking at me. Staring past me. What did she see? Who did she see?"

This installment had me glued to my kindle. A steamy romance full of strong, real characters with a mind-trip mystery that left me unsettled and answered as many questions as it did give me new ones. Oh, my. Book three, Broken Edge, can't get here fast enough.

ON THE EDGE by CD Reiss is book Two in The Edge series. This continues the story of Caden and Greyson. Since this continues their story I do feel you need to read the previous book 'Rough Edge'. In addition this book sets us up for the next installment of their story in 'Broken Edge' which I cannot wait to read!
This series of their story so far as been such and emotional roller coaster ride. They still dealing with their feelings and what is being kept secret...and trying to find a ground they can stand on.
It hard to review this book when you have such high emotions for it and not wanting to give to much away...but it has kept me wanting more for sure!

I was patient after reading book one but- I REALLY THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS THE FINAL INSTALLMENT TO THE EDGE SERIES. Dammit, I usually don't read a series that is still in the process of publishing due to my self-preservation of not putting myself in a state of misery and torment... great.

But I couldn't stop reading- I'm too engrossed with the series. Oh, help me. I've started it and I can't seem to stop wanting, wanting and wanting.

Oh, help me.

CLIFFHANGER!

I. NEED. BOOK. THREE!!!!!!!!!
I. NEED. BOOK. FOUR!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, I can't full conclude with my detailed reviews without the two remaining books and I hope JULY AND AUGUST CAME SOONER!

Fascinating. Just hands down fascinating. I don't know what to say. My mind is all over the place with this one. I think the story telling in this one is even better than the last one. Seriously, my mind is blown away. I sat my butt on the couch and devoured not only this book, but a whole bag of white cheddar skinny pop at the same time. No regrets! I mean, how does she come up with this stuff?! I can't wait to see what's going to happen next with these two. Holy forking shirt what a fantastic ride with this couple!
