Flic is turning 35 and, like every year, is keen to avoid a big celebration with family and friends. Running out of excuses, Flic decides to book herself onto a wellbeing trek in a secret holiday destination; a decision she regrets when she realises the scale of the challenge she’s signed herself up for and the location of the trip. Highlands and Islands, Scotland.

Not one to give up at the first hurdle, Flic sets off on the trek with a group of strangers. As she tackles tent-building, going to the loo without a toilet, and foraging, Felicity also realises that she must re-learn how to build relationships and open up to others if she wants to truly be happy on her return to London.

But as Flic’s birthday approaches, the memories it evokes come crashing down and Felicity finds her past lurking in wait in the wilds of Scotland…

‘Read’ as an audiobook. It was a lovely story about getting lost to find ourselves. I now want a trip to the Scottish highlands!

Unfortunately I think I was just a bit bored with this story and the main characters anxiety and constant self doubt was just a bit much. The character development was there but the ending still just didn’t wow me.

I really enjoyed the friendship between Bri and Flic, and I thought that the romance with Flic and Oliver was nicely paced!

This was a relatively short audiobook listen but I liked it and think if it went on any longer it would’ve been too much.

My only critique is I wish there would have maybe been more context for Flic’s trauma as it left me a little confused why she was acting this way all the time, although I liked the way the reveal was done at the end.

It’s like watching a romcom in a book. Also, reading this at almost 30 made me realize I need to be doing much more in life.
