This has to be my fav book by the author, its brutally raw/honest, has an amazing multi layered storyline that would rival a soap opera or film, great characters-some lovable, some easy to love to hate and some truly, utterly and cruelly barbaric, it shows the very worst that human nature has to offer but then the very best as well It was an immediate jump in and get alongside everyone book and the images were bright in my mind throughout the story as the action evolved and got more and more exciting Probably one of my favourite ganglndish family drama’s read and am hoping there maybe is a follow on book in the future to see how everyone’s lives are progressing, it takes a special kind of book that makes you feel like this and this book did it Plus the fact the book mentions the song ‘If I Had Words’ making it even more special! (love the song) Fantastic book
When you wake up and all you can think about is the characters in the book then you know it’s a good one. The only bad thing is I’ve finished it! I just loved it I didn’t mind that I guessed some of the plot it’s nice to be right for a change ! I don’t like to give spoilers but read this you won’t be disappointed. Mitchell swan took the wrap for his dreadful father in law Donald who is cruel sadistic and manipulative! The story of Eden runs parallel as Mitch is in prison. That poor poor girl ! Where were Social services when you needed them. The cruelty and pain this poor child endures is just heartbreaking truly shocking. I got all upset wanted to get involved and save her. Trust me these beasts walk amongst us. Another one of Kerry’s books where I was 100% committed to the characters. Your writing style and content is just excellent thank you .
Wow, Kerry Barnes you've done it again, you had me on the edge of my seat from the first page, what a brilliant written well-researched book. The story revolves around Mitchell swan who has just been released from prison for armed robbery after 8 years and Eden a poor little girl who lives with her father and mother. Her father is a vile sadistic man who rules them with a rod of iron, he is an elder with Jehovahs witnesses and sticks firmly to their rules but takes it a lot further.
Mitchell is married to loud-mouth tarty Gina and has 3 sons by her, 2 of whom are violent trouble makers and one who is nothing like them he is gentle and kind. It was Gina's father Donald who put him in prison, he is a man with no morals.
The story has everything you want for a good crime book and more. Kerry Barnes really knows how to draw you in and her characters are so believable you feel you are living the story with them. I didn't want the book to end but boy what an ending. Worth 5 stars and many many more. Kerry Barnes gets better and better with each book.
Well Kerry Barnes has done it again with Outcast, this book has had me on the edge of my seat urging Mitchell on.After serving eight years in prison Mitchell is free and on his way home but little does he know that two of his son's have been left to run riot, his wife Gina needs a dam good slap and his father in law(well you can read about him). When he finds out his own mother has been left out of the celebrations Mitchell walks out and goes to see his mom.I have to say this book deserves a higher rating as it keeps you wanting more and more.I have wanted to reach in and grab hold of some characters to either slap them or kick the sh*t out of them. This is an edge of your seat gripping book with an excellent story.Well done to Kerry Barnes.5*
I loved this book, Kerry Barnes is one of they authors that writes her books so well & I love the main characters & the storylines are so good,I laughed & cried through the book.I would definitely recommend this book & all her other books as I have enjoyed every book she has written ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
On my this books got it all, it doesn't just keep you on the edge of your seat, no it keeps you on the edge of the whole sofa, it's brilliant.it is sad, brutal, full of nasty characters aplenty but it's a fantastic book who i would recommend to anyone and I will definitely be reading again. Well done Kerry Barnes you nailed it girl.
This was another excellent read focusing on family ties whether by blood or relationships. It explores the saying the Apple does not fall far from the tree. Family characteristics can be inherited as evidenced by Mitchell and George, Dexter and Jordon, Donald and Jordon
This is a difficult book to review, some parts I found gripping some I found unnecessary, I had to read to the end because wanted to know what happened but for ruthless criminals they could be a bit soft at times ! For my it was an okay read.
It is no secret that I am a massive fan of Kerry Barnes and the last few books I have listened to on audio because I honestly hate my drive to work which is only 13 miles but can take me an hour and a half. Times that by two! So plenty of listening time with this story being 11 hours and 34 minutes long. I actually found myself enjoying, what was a terrible journey to work and back. I listened to this in just 4 days. I simply couldn’t get enough of it.
Annie is also one of my favourite narrators and when I started this it sounded like all her other books she has narrated. Purely because I am so familiar with her voice. But I was soon wrapped up in a story, where the characters come to life and I was taken on a roller coaster ride following Eden in a dark and warped story. This just shows it is all about the story and Annie can do justice with any book.
The last book of Kerry’s I listened to and found myself laughing out loud. This one pulled at my heart strings and brought tears to my eyes with the terror. It made me gasp and I literally stopped and said OH GOD! lucky for me I was walking at this point, I would of probably crashed my car haha.
Kerry is a natural born writer making you feel the emotion and tension throughout the story. Outcast is a very addictive and emotional read full of twists and turns. It is now my new favourite by her. I loved the characters, even the evil ones! I cannot begin to tell you how good this this book is. It is so, so brilliant and will throw you sideways.
This book deserves 10 gold stars. It has totally blown me away.
Kerry Barnes has done it again, another great book. Had me pulled in from page one. Love her style of writing and the main characters. It a real page Turner didn't want to do anything other than find out how this story was going to end. Would have given much more than five stars 🌟 Loved it
Wow, Kerry Barnes has written another gripping book and although there were parts that are difficult to read and in other parts made me cry, there are a few characters that rightly came to a bad ending. I was torn between wanting to get to the end but not wanting the book to finish. I know this is a stand-alone but maybe in time, we might get to meet some of the characters again.
Another fast-paced adrenaline fuelled book from KB. I didn't know what would happen in the twists and turns of the story. This book covered religious beliefs, prostitution, drug overdose, rape, murder. But good overcomes evil in the end. Another could not put down book.
When i read this book i didn’t know i have all this rage inside me HAHAHA
You really sympathizes with the characters and start to question yourself will they ever get a happy ending or life that they deserve? And the villains of the story were well written. If you caught yourself wanting to punch the villains of the story every second they show up then kerry barnes did a fantastic job delivering the storyline.
After I finished every chapter i don’t know whether to scream, throw the book or punch someone in the face 🤣
Some part of the book were predictable but all in all its a great read
This is the first book i ever read from kerry barnes and i genuinely liked it i think I’m gonna try reading some of her works
Love Kerry Barnes writing style and the way she pulls you into the book with characters who come to life quickly and a storyline with little twists here and there before the ultimate showdown when all is revealed. This book had it all extreme violence, sadistic, sexual assault, religious beliefs, drugs, prostitution, child abuse at its worst, emotional, evil, justice, truth and revenge. Will sound horrific to some but unfortunately this is the world we live in............. A 5* read from me - loved it.
Kerry Barnes has done it again with this brilliant new book of hers instead of giving her stars I would give her a Oscar for the best author of 2021 .she never disappoints me .Every book she writes is always a lot of twists and turns her imagination is quite unique and I feel that I'm inside the book and I'm with all the characters. I could not put this book down so well done Kerry and cannot wait for your new release of your new upcoming book .
I say it every time, after every book, Kerry Barnes is a fantastic writer! Just awesome. I'll not go into the plot of the book, you can read that in the synopsis, but I will say this, her characters stay with you for ever. Whether it's a standalone or series, her talent for writing is such that you hold each of her characters dear. You are invested in the story because you are invested in them. She also writes a cracking villain too! Loved it. LOVED IT
My 1srt Kerry Barnes book & I'm about to start a Trilogy by her! I red the back cover blurb & decide to read or not, also other readers reviews encourage me to read a book, so Thanks to Everyone that gave Outcast a Brilliant review!! One thing on the Kindle/Goodreads are a small minority of people who leave too much of a review & sometimes ruins the book!! In future maybe leave 'SPOILER ALERT' just so we stay clear of a review that's going to ruin our read!!
Absolutely loved it. Kerry Barnes books just get better with each one. Murders, drug raves , and everything in between it's for it all. Eden was brought up by her abusive Jehovah witness stepfather who allowed his wife to die while giving birth to Eden's sister. She found her biological father and two brothers she didn't know she had. I didn't want it to end
What an amazing book! Gripped from start to finish. So hard to read at times but I persevered! I highly recommend this book! You will not be disappointed! This is the best book I have read in some time.
Kerry Barnes has done it agan. I loved the.characters the style everything, the only thing is it finished too fast lol. I started this book on a Monday and finished it the Thursday. Most definitely recommend it!!

Wow Kerry Barnes has done it again Love a book with a good ending. Tired today as I couldn't put the book down. Loves the twists and surprises in this book. Loxe it when an author hasn't rushed a book.
I couldnt put this book down I grew up in the Crays so took me back there but what a story! was hooked from start to finish and left me wanting more I shall look out for Kerrys other books now along with Martina Cole she is fabulous! Thankyou Kerry
I love all Kerry's books but I think this has to be my favourite, I was gripped right at the start. I loved the characters.I really hope there is a sequel.
Kerry Barnes really is up there with the best of the best of Gangland writers. Her books never disappoint me and this one had me gripped from the start. I do hope that we see more of the Swans. Fantastic read
Hard to read at times as the book contains violence and abuse. Written so you really feel the characters emotions. All this authors books are amazing and this is no exception. Loved it.
