Calvin and Danielle’s love is tested not only by their differences but by the deadly secrets his family keeps. Born into a powerful yet dangerous organization, Calvin struggles to protect Danielle from those who see her as a threat, especially his own blood.
Tensions rise when his vengeful brother, recently released from prison, returns with one to make Calvin pay, no matter the cost. As betrayal, infidelity, and murder weave through their lives, Calvin must choose between his past and his future. But in a world where loyalty is everything, breaking the rules means facing deadly consequences.
With danger closing in, the couple must decide—fight for their love or fall victim to the family’s ruthless code.
To whoever dropped this book as a recommendation in a Black readers group count your days...I hope the store is always sold out of lemon pepper wings! That your sweet potato pie always tastes like pumpkin!! That your iced coffee is forever warm!!!
I don't read IR books. I didn't know this was an IR. The blurb didn't say anything and it's listed as a Black Romance. The Lies! The Lies!!!
⚫️mark #1: the white MMC is putting hands on his Black wife, choking her out
⚫️mark #2: the white MMC is dropping the n-word like its skittles. Referring to Black....
⚫️mark #3: the aint-ish white MMC has the nerve to not capitalize the "b" in black. Which I noticed when he was cussing his Black wife out
⚫️mark #4: the phrase "your black ass aint going nowhere you'll be suck my white dick soon" after the choke out session
⚫️mark #5: he moves weight in Black neighborhoods
⚫️mark #6: he has the nerve to "clown", embarrass, mock the Black wife's rough upbringing.
I only made it to 4%!!!!
Count your days, I tell ya.
And authors, please make it abundantly clear that your IR is IR and not Black Romance!!!
This book NEEDS to be taken off every available site and burned!!! Way too much racial slur towards the MF by her WHITE husband (MM). Too many twists and turns where it seems the author is trying to tie in something they mentioned but had nothing to do with the original storyline. Definitely didn’t like how MF had MM back through this entire book EVEN after all the humiliation, degrading, laying hands on her and racial slurs. Definitely not a reread for me. Instantly deleted the book and audio…
I read this book and let me tell you it was good! I did expect for it to be all black characters but it is about an interracial couple and their raw and uncut marriage. I could have went without the blatant disrespect from the MMC to his black wife but these are conversations that no one tells you about and needs to be exposed. This book showed that everything that glitter isn’t goal
