Broken Mirror A psychological thriller – life, death and what lies beyond
Reverend Lucas Wheelan is a killer – complex, disturbed and driven by deception, anger and ultimately; fear. Wheelan lost his faith a long time ago and is spiralling ever further into the dark emptiness of his psyche.
But the dead don’t rest.
Even death cannot prevent his murder victim, Helen, from tracking him down to exact her revenge.
Death becomes the veil of reincarnation and new life as Jenny Barrett, a theatre and intensive care nurse…
Stalked by snippets of terrifying memories, Jenny is forced to confront her previous life. But as she puts together the last pieces of the jigsaw and starts closing in on her murderer, a mind-bending twist takes her once more into a hidden dimension of light and energy where souls migrate after death. But this time, a familiar presence is there – someone she’s shared many lifetimes with. What she learns shocks and transforms her. Now desperate to stay, she is persuaded to return to her body to complete her life and the circle of karma.
Will the enlightenment of her near death experience enable her to fulfil her quest for retribution?
Oliver Rixon is a pen name of Ruth Searle (when she writes on metaphysical subjects).
Ruth has written several non-fiction titles and has just published the first in a trilogy of psychological thrillers, 'NO PLACE TO HIDE'. She is currently writing the second in the series featuring surgeon, Daniel Kendrick.
Oliver Rixon has taken the good vs evil theme (actually the whole psychological thriller genre) to a new level with Broken Mirror. It is full of twists and turns like any good thriller/mystery/psychological thriller should, but it is done in such a new and exciting way. There are aspects to his book that you simply just don't find in other thrillers (at least not in the way this author does them) that really takes the story to the next level! This book will grab you and suck you in on page one and not let go. The complexity of the characters and the great writing help the story feel so real and makes you feel like you are a part of the book. Each character is so beautifully written that you understand them, you are invested in them and the outcome. You really see into the souls of the main characters, and even the side characters are developed enough that you care about them and they really add to the story, but they don't distract you.
Oliver Rixon has crafted such an amazing version of a thriller that keeps you guessing the whole book. The twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat. You feel for and understand the "heroine" and even his villain was more than just your typical bad guy. It's hard to say much more without giving anything away, but this book is well worth whatever you spend on it and definitely worth the space on your bookshelf!! This is also one of those books you're going to want to read again...you never know what you'll learn!
Basically you can't go wrong reading this book. No matter what your favorite genre is, this is a book everyone will enjoy. I loved every minute of it, and I can't wait to see what he comes out with next!!
Thank you so much Goodreads and Oliver Rixon for sending me the book

One of the best Pyschological Thriller I have ever read.
Honestly, I didn't expect it to be well written but from the starting itself I was proved wrong.
It's a short book and I finished it in one sitting. It's abosolutely thrilling and I just couln't stop reading it.
Oliver Rixon has a talent for vivid description which actually made me horrified at times and happy at others.
Broken Mirror is a tale of two main character-Wheelan and Jenny. Wheelan's not your average cold blooded, blood thirsty killer, he is more within. The other one- Jenny is a nurse who moves to a new town and has started working there as a contract nurse and her love interest is a surgeon there.
The book has a major twist but too bad I already predicted that before reading it Other than that I absolutely loved the book.
I would recommemnd it to anyone who has a interest in Psychological Thrillers. Also , I hear there's a sequel coming , I just can't wait to read it .
"Broken Mirror: A psychological thriller" by Oliver Rixon is one of only a few books that I have ever read that keeps me up at night! This book stayed with me and stayed in my head and I still think about it. Usually at night when I should be sleeping. ;-)
The characters are very well put together and believable and the story is so well done. I had a great time reading this and without giving away too much I did not expect the ending at all!
Author Oliver Rixon does an EXCELLENT job of painting a mental picture and creating a believable world that kept my attention and kept me reading. I very highly recommend "Broken Mirror: A psychological thriller" to all fans of psychological thrillers as well as anyone that enjoys reading a very intense story!
I was really skeptical since I have never heard of the author by the name of Oliver Rixon, but I'm sure glad I decided to purchase this book "Broken Mirror".
Oliver Rixon has truly created a masterpiece in the works with this title! Like most titles, they want to throw the plot at you within the first chapter of reading, but with Broken Mirror,it is almost like the book pulls you into their universe and gives you each piece of information until you fully understand everything.
This book is amazing,I'm so glad that I decided to take a chance reading this wonderful story and will recommend this title to my book club as the next novel to read.
I'm not quite sure just how I feel about this book. Perhaps I expected more. I found the story intriguing, but would like to have seen more suspense and drama. I felt slightly disappointed that there seemed to be no real dramatic climax. Having said this, I found the added twist of Jenny's near death experience fascinating. The way the important characters are all interlinked through past life experiences adds an unexpected twist to the story.
Broken Mirror wasn't quite what I expected, that isn't to say however that I didn't enjoy it!
The story was quite intriguing, yet simple and easy to follow.
I loved how the book ends by discussing death, the afterlife and the lessons we learn through our lifetimes. It's almost like the story was written just to support the end.
If you want a quick and interesting read, then Broken Mirror is your book!
Thanks Oliver Rixon and I am very interested in your next work.
Amazing!! I'm not sure how to write this review. Broken Mirror is a psychological thriller written by Oliver Rixon. The entire story is only 159 pages but more was said in those few pages than in many books with many pages. It is written in plain language, beautiful scenery and strange plots. It is truly an excellent read. I highly recommend this book. I am looking forward to his next book.
Intriguing from beginning to end, couldn't put it down once I picked it back up again. It felt like I become one with the character and actually transported to the site and sounds, and surroundings of the story. Can't wait to read the sequel, Broken Mind!!! Oliver Rixon is definitely an excellent writer!!!
When the author opened the book up free on Amazon, I couldn't resist. This book combines my two favorite subjects - Buddhism and thrillers. Does that sound rather like pickles and ice cream? Don't be fooled! Broken Mirror is an interesting read. Lookong forward to the next!
This is a great book! Very creepy. It was really easy to put yourself in the characters place. It is also surprising, I never knew what was going to happen next. I can't wait for the next one!!!
Broken Mirror is a truly gripping story that will keep you turning pages well into the night. In this truly unique psycho thriller you are enveloped into the mind of the killer. The book is full of twists and turns that will keep you turning pages just to see what happens next. I could have read this book fully in one sitting if it weren't for my need for sleep. The plot is finely done and moves along at a good pace with no slow areas. Often times these types of books can become predictable to the point that a reader can see what happens before they get there. This story is not one of them, It kept me constantly saying "I didn't see that coming" right up to the end of the book. The ending ties up and connects everything together so there are no loose ends. This is truly a great dark thriller that I think most anyone would enjoy. I would recommend it to all my friends and family. I am eagerly awaiting the sequel
It was a book that kept me turning the pages. Oliver Rixon's descriptive powers are great and I found that I could easily picture one scene after another.
I do have to say that I see this book more of a prequel or prelude to the next story that I saw is suppose to come out. Broken Mirror left me with a lot of questions that I hope that the new book will answer, and a lot more dialog that I hope will be spoken. Besides Jenny and Wheelan I would like to know a lot more about Bob, Mike, Wheelan's housekeeper Mary, but especially about Isobel. I would also like to know about the tragic circumstances of Kates life.
And as for the very unusual ending of this story-- I will be very interested to see what the author does in his next book to keep this theme going! ______
My thanks to Goodreads and the author for a copy of this book.
A dark story, kind of slow, but very intriguing, at the end you get all the pieces together and find a good book.
It's about The reverend, a man full of sorrow and guilty, tormented because of his past and the pad his life takes.
Jenny, a strong woman (read it till the end and you would know what I'm talking about) trying to find her way in life. And fighting to control her present over her past.
I thought that this book needed some polish to make it a great book. There were some grammatical and typographical errors, as well as some areas of the story that did not flow well from one section to the next. I thought that Wheelan, was somewhat unbelievable as a character. He seemed evil at the beginning, capable of doing harm to anyone in his path, yet he could not bring himself to kill Morgan in the end. For someone as evil as he seemed, it did not ring true to me. I thought it was an interesting read with some great ideas, though, and look forward to reading the sequel.
I listened to this book on Audible. The narrator did a good job. I was expecting a psychological thriller just as the title suggests. This was more of a wrong place, wrong time situation and reincarnation . Maybe part 2 will fulfill what the title and summary suggest.
The listen time is 3:58. I am at the 2:51 mark and have yet to see any evidence of the complex killer(Wheeler) or the female lead (Jenny) being assaulted by horrific snippets. Although, Bob being a jerk was the one thing that stood out.
