Wow! This is another crazy, twisted, unpredictable thriller by James Caine. Once again he creates a cleverly executed story that I was unable to put down. There were times when I thought I knew where the plot was going, when suddenly an unexpected twist occurred taking the story in a surprising direction. The characters are layered in an entertaining story full of countless twists and turns. The entirety of chapter 31 made me laugh. After you read it, you’ll totally understand. James Caine is an auto-read author for all thriller addicts. I am looking forward to his next addictive creation. Thank you to the author for sharing this latest thrill ride. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is literally the worst book I've read since I can recall reading books. It started of with basically each sentence being its own paragraphs. There are 5-7 paragraphs per page. I quit after two pages, but thought maybe it won't be so bad. It was. It's also written as if a 14 year old wrote it. No substance, zero depth. I don't know why it's not rated below 2 stars. Don't read it. I read the reviews and really thought it's a good book, so I'm not sure what these unhinged high reviews were based on but these people either didn't read the book, or are bots. This book is awful. Do not waste your time.

Needed a quick read but what a waste of time…..

I think I lost brain cells from this book. Really wish the women came together and killed Owen.. that would’ve been a way better story. It took me until I finished to realize this was written by a man, so it all adds up now……….

I love popcorn.

And I adore popcorn thrillers.

I enjoy some popcorn and popcorn thrillers more than others.

Unfortunately, this popcorn thriller failed to satisfy my fastidious palate.

WHY?

1) This 7-hour audiobook easily could have been 4 hours.
(Where was the editor?)

2) The final twist was eye-rolling.

The fabulous narrators ( Rusty Mewha, Leanne Woodward, Jessica Renee Ryan) helped me make it to the finish line.

This entertaining domestic thriller captured and held my attention, the entire story. The city is on the hunt for the notorious heartbreak killer, a serial killer that does awful things to the victims. Emma, Karen and Owen’s story intertwines in ways that will leave you speechless. When you have a hopeless romantic, a mother suffering from the challenges of motherhood and an adulterous husband, how well could one expect this to play out? In this twisty story everyone has secrets, everyone is stalking everyone, nobody is innocent! I especially loved the narration with 3 different voices, for the 3 main characters. All the narrators did a great job.

Format: Audiobook 🎧
Length: 7 hours 2 minutes
Perfect for: fans of domestic thrillers
What I loved: Dual POVs, it was great to consistently hear all 3 views throughout the story

Never give up on love!

I know I always say this, but this might be Caine's best yet! I must have highlighted half the book. He can occasionally write some strange female characters but I found the two mains in this one very believable, while also being mysterious and interesting.

Owen is a cheater. His wife Karen has found out about his affair with Emma, but Karen isn't the only one seeking vengeance currently. Owen has made plenty of people angry along the way.

Our side quest in this story is about a serial killer who's gone cold for 5 years. Who is this person and could they be sharpening up the blade for their big return?

Find out in James Caine's intense new thriller. The pacing was great. The length was perfect. I always love his work.

Review:

Okay, so I just finished "The Cheating Husband" and I honestly don't even know how to describe the vibe of this book. I wouldn’t say I was fully obsessed with it, like, it didn't completely take over my entire life or become my new personality, but I was absolutely, 100% captivated from start to finish.

The story centers around Emma, who thinks she’s found the literal man of her dreams in Owen. He’s gorgeous, sweet, perfect... until she finds out he’s already married. Cue the dramatic gasp. Emma knows she needs to run for the hills, but it gets so complicated because Owen is hiding way more than just a wife. He is a total manipulator. And then James Caine throws in a whole side plot about a serial killer on the loose, and everyone’s storylines start intertwining in the messiest way possible.

What I loved about this book, and what kept me so captivated, was just how fast-paced it was. The chapters are super short, which I love because it gives major "just one more chapter before bed" energy. Every time you think it’s just going to be a standard domestic drama about an affair, Caine peels back another layer of straight-up deception. It’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion; you know it's going to end badly, but you are glued to the screen.

Also, I usually find multiple POVs a little annoying if they drag, but here it worked so well. Seeing things from Emma's side, and then the wife Karen’s side? Incredible. It was so tense.

The only reason it’s a 4.5 and not a full obsession/5 stars for me is that the writing style can be a little choppy at times with how short the paragraphs are, and Emma made some choices that had me screaming at my book because she was being so frustratingly naive. Like, girl, stand up!

But honestly, if you love Freida McFadden style popcorn thrillers that are just pure entertainment, juicy secrets, and crazy plot twists, you will fly through this. It totally locked me in.

I have liked all of James Caine's books I have read and The Cheating Husband is no exception. I like the way each chapter alternated between the wife, Karen, the husband, Owen, and the other woman, Emma. It was a very interesting story and the twist at the end is great.

This was my first book I’ve read by James Caine. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was presently surprised. I’m not normally a fan of multiple point of view stories, but this one was very easy to follow. The story had me hooked from the beginning. It was suspenseful. The ending wasn’t particularly strong, but had a good twist. You will be left wondering where all the deceit will ultimately lead.

A truly excellent book that you’ll finish quickly.

I wasn’t sure what to expect going into The Cheating Husband, but wow — this book grabbed me from the first chapter and didn’t let go. James Caine spins a web of lies, deception, and betrayal that had me flipping pages way past bedtime. Yes, the husband is a total low-life — manipulative, dishonest, and everything you don’t want in a partner — but somehow that made the story even more compelling. It’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion… and not being able to look away. There are so many secrets and twists packed into this plot that I found myself questioning everyone’s motives. The pacing was tight, and the tension kept building. If you’re into dark domestic thrillers with characters you love to hate, this one hits the spot. All of James kindle books are 99 cents on Amazon.

Another wild twisted thriller. I finished this one pretty quickly. The plot I had in mind was not it. I was so wrong. It was an interesting story. I can't wait to read more from the author.

This book completely pulled me in from the first chapter. Every time I thought I had figured out what was going on, another twist made me question everything. The short chapters and fast pace made it impossible to put down, and I ended up flying through it much faster than I expected.

I especially loved how the suspense kept building right up until the end. The characters felt believable, even when they made frustrating decisions, and the tension between them kept me hooked. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with secrets, lies, and plenty of surprises, I definitely recommend giving this one a try. A fun, addictive read that kept me guessing the entire time.

The Cheating Husband by James Caine was such a rollercoaster! I thought I was just diving into a story about a woman who thinks her husband’s cheating—but wow, it turned out to be so much more than that. Every time I thought I knew what was going on, another twist came out of nowhere and totally threw me off. In the best way!

The story centers around a woman who starts to suspect her husband is cheating—pretty standard at first glance, but trust me, nothing about this story is predictable. As she starts digging into his life, she uncovers so much more than just infidelity. Lies stack on top of lies, and every chapter peels back a layer you didn’t see coming. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, the author would throw in another curveball that made me question everything.

I loved how fast-paced and easy to read this book was. No dragging chapters, just straight-up suspense and juicy secrets the whole way through. And the ending? Did not see that coming!

If you love books that mess with your head and keep you guessing, you’ll fly through this one. It’s one of those stories you finish and immediately want to talk about with someone. I have to work on finding a book bestie to discuss these books with. Definitely a 5-star read!

This was the first book I’ve read by James Caine, and I’ll definitely be checking out more of his work. While the ending wasn’t particularly strong, the story had me hooked from the very beginning.

It follows a wife who’s convinced her husband is cheating and becomes determined to uncover the truth. Meanwhile, there's talk of a serial killer in town, adding another layer of tension and suspense. The story is full of lies, secrets, and unexpected twists. You’re left wondering where all the deceit will ultimately lead.

It wasn’t terrible. A plot existed, and sure it could be fairly easy to guess the twist but it was bad. The writing structure and format, however, tried its hardest to give me a headache. So many of the paragraphs were just a few sentences, I’m talking throughout the entire book. There was also a bunch of grammar and punctuational errors.

the drama was fun to read ! i think the plot was good but could’ve been executed better. like having multiple povs is cool but it doesn’t work when you reveal someone as the antagonist and suddenly switch up her internal monologue.

Getting outside my normal reading genres. Like attracts like & all characters in this book were so over the top toxic. It was fun, alittle predictable. A perfect thriller for the newbies.
