We all hide from the people around us. Strangers, acquaintances, friends, even family only see the parts of ourselves we want them to see. We conceal the cracks and flaws beneath the polished surface we put on display. Because we think we need to. Because we think people won't like us if they see who we really are. Because our egos demand it.

We hide because we're proud. We hide because we're insecure.

But mostly . . . I hid because I was afraid.

I didn't love this one quite as much as book one, but it was a decent and enjoyable novella. It was interesting to see the story through someone else's perspective.

Again, I'm looking forward to reading the next installment.

Must read

This series has been a page turner from the very start. So many emotions ran through me. I loved being able to read from Cal’s point of view. It’s very hard to be the person to hold everyone together during a tragedy and this book really touched on his strengths and weaknesses. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone!

I lived behind a wall. Hell, I was the damn wall. And I painted it with smiling faces and strong steel beams. But, beneath the fancy artwork, the wall was made of cardboard. She saw that. This broken girl, this battered Angel, saw beyond all the pretty pictures and false facade to what lie underneath.
Me.
She saw me.
And that scared the crap out of me.

Oh my, wow, my heart! It was good to get the story from Cal's point of view. It broke me though. My nose is so stuffy! I seriously feel so heartbroken for all. I just wanted to embrace them all and comfort them as I too breakdown.

Angel

It was nice to see Caulder's point of view and his thoughts from the first book. I could feel it while reading the first book but reading this one helped put those feelings together into how it took place. Loving this author!!

Wow

I loved seeing how things happened from Cal’s perspective. My heart shattered into a million pieces for him. I hope the next (final?) book brings happy endings for both Cal and Jade. I personally hope they end up together.

I was so excited when the author asked me if I would like to beta read this book! Falling to Pieces was one of the most emotional books I've ever read and I was really excited when the author revealed that she was writing a novella from one of the other characters point of views! This novella was amazing! I wouldn't say it was absolutely necessary for the author to write the events of the first book through someone else's eyes, but it was the perfect follow on from the first book! This novella followed the same plot as the first book, only it was shortened down and told through someone else's eyes! The plot was amazing and it went at a fast pace! It was really shortened down from the first book though, but this is a novella so I was expecting it to be! All the key scenes from the first book were in it though! The plot of this book also wasn't as emotional because it goes through it faster than what the first book does, but it was overall still as amazing and so sad! The characters were again amazing! Caulder was the main character in this book and he was the main male character's brother in the first book! Reading the events of the first book through Caulder's eyes was totally different to what I was expecting it to be! I loved it though because it showed how another important character felt during the events of the first book! And it showed his feelings towards other characters too! I also loved Caulder in the first book and I loved him even more in this novella! I adored his relationship with his brother, Kiernan, too! I could see that Caulder would do anything for Kiernan and they had a really strong bond! There wasn't really a love interest for Caulder in this novella! It was kind of just reading the events of the first book through his eyes! There was a potential love interest, but I have to say that it was more interesting to see Caulder's feelings towards Jade though! His feelings for her seemed to be more than friends, but Caulder didn't act on his feelings and try and ruin Jade's relationship with his brother, Kiernan! I respected Caulder a lot for that! Caulder did have another love interest in this book, but he didn't have any feelings for her apart from being a friend! This novella has made me even more desperate for the second book in this series! I have no idea how everything's going to progress! Well, I can guess, but I'll probably be wrong lol, so I can't wait to see what the author has up her sleeve for it! I really hope it's written from both Jade and Caulder's point of views! The cover for this book suits it perfectly! It's stunning and I love how well it suits the first book's cover too! The significance of the necklace on the front and the title of this novella are just absolutely perfect for it too! Big thank you to Jamie for asking me to beta read Angel!

I rarely read novella's cause I hate short stories but this one was worth it and my first novella recommendation to anyone who has read the first book in the series. This is written in the older brother's POV.

Quick Rundown: Unbeknownst to us all, Dude saw Chick first (kinda) and he also saw something in the abused "Angel" as he calls her. But as his luck would have it, she ends up with his little brother. There's a tragedy in this family's life and big brother is really struggling to keep everything together- being the man of the family after father's desertion, college, battle of torture and delight at seeing his "Angel" in the arms of his brother. This ends at the same point in time that the first book ends but it's not a complete rehash of the first book- there's a lot more going on behind the scenes that almost made me wish this novella had been incorporated into the first book.

Characterization: Dude (big brother) really shows his personality in this book. We get to see his struggles and his motivation. We get hints at his past and I never felt like I didn't know this character. We also get further development in the boys' mother which just made everything more real. Lil Dude (little brother), well, we get more of his inner struggles as well that were completely hidden in the first book-- another reason why it would have been nice to have both books combined.

Plot: same as the last time but again, we see more of what other family members are having to go through. NO big surprises here except we now know why Dude took such an interest in Chick from the get go.

Overall: First novella I have ever recommended. It's a winner just like the first book. I was crying and smiling at the same time.

**THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR BOOK 1, FALLING TO PIECES**

I've been sitting on this review for a while because I'm not sure that I can adequately put into words how I feel about Caulder and his side of the tragedy that was Falling to Pieces. Caulder had completely won me over in FtP, maybe even more so than Kiernan. There was just something about him that pulled on my heartstrings.

Caulder has so much going against him. A terminally ill brother, a father who couldn't deal with it, and the girl that his heart desires is his brothers. He, however sacrifices his own happiness, ignores his own needs to make sure Kiernan has everything he could want in his last days. Caulder is self sacrificing to a fault, he never even thinks about giving into his selfish desires because his world revolves around making things as good as they can possibly be for his brother, his mother and Jade.

While we know how this story ends, there was no way to know how it had affected Caulder and I think that we needed to know his pain to understand his interaction with Jade. To even get a glimpse of what she meant to him and the lengths that he would go to to protect her.

My heart and soul were left aching after I finished this book and Caulder, Kiernan, and Jade's story will always stay with me.

**Note: Angel is the retelling of Falling to Pieces from Caulder's perspective. You should only read this book after you have read Falling to Pieces.

Falling to Pieces was one of the purest love stories that I have ever read. It left me emotionally devastated and in tears, but I don't regret a second I spent with Jade and Kiernan. Jade and Kiernan's story was breathtakingly beautiful and equally as tragic, and Caulder, Kiernan's brother, was there to witness it all. Now we get to see the story from his perspective, and I have to say that I was even more emotionally destroyed seeing the events unfold from Cal's perspective than I was the first time. This is saying something, especially since I already knew what was coming.

I liked Cal in the previous book, but he became real to me in this book. Cal became a truly dynamic character as his strength, his vulnerability, and his struggles were exposed. He is a character who is trying so desperately to keep it together, that it is only a matter of time before he shatters. I can't wait to see what is in store for him in the next installment in this series. It promises to be epic, and I am impatiently awaiting its release.

Usually when I see a second book written from a different perspective, I get annoyed and just skip right past it. This one though...well I was hoping to get more on what happens after. Unfortunately, that isn't really the case...I mean it leaves off at pretty much the same place we just get a tiny sneak at what happens with jade. I am worried that Jades book is going to repeat a lot of the same stuff, so I'm hoping that isn't the case. Anywho...I cried harder on this book than I did the first. Really great job by the author and I didn't feel like it was a repeat of the first book. Very good.

Honestly, in the first book I didn't really feel anything towards Caulder other than he was a nice guy that was willing to help his brother take care of his girl but in this book I really felt for him. He had to watch his, dying, brother fall in love with the girl he had been obsessing over ever since he first saw her and the entire time he was a complete gentleman he didn't make a move on her, he helped his brother out when needed and more importantly he helped her when she had no one else to turn to.

I don't normally read novellas, but this one is completely told in Caulder's POV and I absolutely love him. Those who've read the first book, Falling to Pieces should definitely read Angel. Canosa shows a side of Caulder that wasn't always present in Falling to Pieces. His devotion to help his Mom, Kiernan and Jade was heart-breaking as he tried to mend all their problems, but deep down, Caulder is need of fixing as well.

Oh my god

I honestly cried so much reading this book, even though I knew what was coming. I recommend reading books 📚1 and 3 first before this one as you need the whole story before reading Cal's version of events. It's a heartbreaking story but so good.

I'm not a huge fan of alternate POV books, I don't think they're necessary. This however was well written, and it wasn't too much of a chore to read.
