Hunted and anything but normal...even for a vampire.
Amelia Lamont’s return to normal vampire life is threatened with a horrific vision, while new dynamics about her link to The Sight drive her to keep her growing and intrusive power a secret. And then there’s Ty—her sexy werewolf boyfriend—but can he truly accept Amelia’s connection and deepening bond with Kendrick?
Although she’s escaped with her life for now, Amelia knows Caius is watching and waiting, preparing for the right moment to take back possession of his experiment—her. As she searches for the truth behind her creation, the fabric of the past is torn away, leaving her questioning whom she can truly trust…the deeper she digs, the darker her past becomes.
Amelia’s outlawed romance with her race’s mortal enemy will be put to the ultimate test when her increasingly debilitating dreams turn catastrophic. For in the end, the truth always finds a way to come out, and vampire law is as unforgiving as it is fatal.
Will Amelia’s forbidden love for Ty save them…or guarantee their death?

I'm USA Today Bestselling author J.L. Myers, and I have an addiction. Books, books, and did I mention, books! I love all things supernatural and romance, with shades of betrayal, danger, characters you love, and characters you love to hate. Taking the leap from reader to writer was an inevitable step for me and I've never looked back. I love to live in my make-believe worlds (real! shhh, don't tell anyone :)

Well so far if I could, I'd give this series 10 stars. My hat comes off to this Author J.L. Myers, what web's have been weaved on the pages of this book. We get a lot of questions answered, truths revealed and WOW. I was certainly taken back with some of the information. These characters are amazing, likeable with such depth and strength. The relationships of Ty, Amelia, Dorian, Kendrick and Vanessa just grow and become closer, it's friendship and love at it's finest. I'm going to start book 3 now, I hope it continues with answering more questions, being as well written, perfectly paced and full of emotion as the first 2 books of this series. If so I'm going to be very, very happy.
This is the second book of the series. It is about love, growing up, learning something new about yourself, friendships and other adventures of life.
Amelia is a teenager and a vampire. Like I mention in my review for book three of this series, book two also reminds me of countless songs. These songs are not in the book. Again, this song reminded me of this book.
For me, the best song about this book is “ Dream On”, by Aerosmith. Yes, Aerosmith is one of my favorite bands. Regardless, book two hit a homerun. This is why I give the book four stars.
"Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent." Victor Hugo
Amelia's visions are getting worse, and every time she wakes up from one, she craves blood. Also, she is now bonded to her friend Kendrick, who is also in love with her, but she is still dating her boyfriend Ty. It is embarrassing for Kendrick to be able to see/feel everything that she and Ty do, and it makes Ty uncomfortable to have Amelia's best-friend-who-is-also-in-love-with-her to be spying on them all the time. Her mother is still against her dating Ty, but Dorian, Kendrick, and Amelia are still trying to compel her into telling them more information about Caius.
This book was definitely better than What Lies Inside. I love this series so far, and it just keeps getting better.
Even though this series is going to be a love triangle all the way through, I don't really mind it. I like the fact that Amelia is definitely in love with Ty, and she seems to be loyal to him. Kendrick also knows how to keep his space, and he doesn't do a lot to try to get in the way of Ty and Amelia's relationship. Amelia made her choice and has stuck with it. I am starting to feel bad for Kendrick though. In these YA novels, it seems that more often than not, the boy who has been friends with the girl for years always loses her to the new guy. I don't know how the rest of the series will play out, but I hope that he will eventually find someone to make him happy.
Also, I believe that the story with Caius progressed further in this novel. I really want to know more about his motives for turning Dorian and Amelia, and I definitely want to know more about Amelia and Dorian's parentage. I believe that the next few books are going to be quite interesting as we start to delve into this topic. Caius is a very interesting villain, and I want to learn more about him and his motives. Some secrets about his past will reveal themselves throughout this novel, and I hope that the other readers will find them as intriguing as I thought that they were!
I would recommend this novel to anyone looking for a new YA paranormal romance novel with vampires and werewolves.
She did it, again! I was enthralled, enraptured, hooked, captivated,… I was so engrossed in the story the outside world didn’t exist anymore. Pure reader’s bliss. This book is major stuff. If you like Vampire Academy and book alike, it’s right your alley. You have to read it! I loved “What Lies Inside”, it was one of my best book findings of the year. I still think more people should know about it. Its only fault: book 2 was not published when I finished the first. I know, I know, I’ll never learn but what can I say, patience is not my forte. This seemed a too good opportunity not to read it. So I crossed my fingers, burnt a candle, went to church… and hoped my suffering would end soon enough. And OH MY GOD! Does JL Myers deliver… It’s finally out now and it’s got everything I love: vampires, supernatural hotties, werewolves, alchemists, forbidden romance, epic battles, kickass heroine, mysteries… You name it. And she didn’t lose her magic touch. It’s fast, never boring. You barely catch your breath after a threat and you’re thrown right in another ordeal. It was never ending. My head was spinning, I felt dizzy till I remembered I did have to breathe. Talk about crazy imagination. I loved: - the layers of mystery. Amelia’s identity quest is like an iceberg, you’ve barely scratched the surface. So you read and read and read again, in the hope to uncover all the secrets; -Amelia’s training with a wicked whip. She took some beating but was determined to kick some butts. She certainly is no fragile wallflower; -the make out sessions. And I hated them too because Amelia and Ty are true cross star lovers. It’s frustrating, there is ALWAYS something getting in their way! I thought “This is it! It’s the moment when they’ll do the deed but …NO” ! My new mantra was: “keep calm and DO NOT smash your Ereader” (bad idea anyway, I’ll never get to see what happens next); -the decoy. You think you figured all Caius and Amelia’s relationship? AH, AH, WRONG! Here comes a new rabbit out of the hat; -the suspense about Amelia’s identity. She is a what??? Poor girl, is she blessed or cursed indeed…; -Marcus’s role. I suspect he is not what he says and is much more shaddy to say the least. But it could be one more of JL Myer’s trick to send us on a false track.
So now I’ll just have to go to the church, again. Maybe I’ll invest in a candle factory to speed the writing process of book 3?
This was NOT a book given in exchange for a review. I had received J L Myers book Fallen Angel in exchange for a honest review and it sparked an interest to read more of her work. I read Book 1, What Lies Inside, in her Blood Bound series and became a fan!
Made By Design, Book 2 in the Blood Bound series, caused me not to be just a fan but to become a major fan of Myers's work. Every character, no matter how large or small their roll in the plot, is described so well that not only can you obtain a visual picture of them but her depiction leaves you with distinct emotional sentiments about what caliber of a person they are and you certainly feel an emotional investment in the main characters. Myers's keeps things moving at the perfect pace, revealing in intervals that she has bestowed some innovative characteristics to vampires and lore of her own creation that not only keeps your attention but the reader becomes absorbed in the story waiting to see how these innovations play out. These are all refreshing changes to the typical vampiric storyline that keeps the intrigue flowing, definitely a hard to put down book!
I have to say I LOVED these 1st 2 books they were done so well that I'm so happy that this is a series and am looking forward to Book 3. They are fine as a stand alone book but I recommend the series. I love that all my questions are answered by the books end but am left with an intriguing teaser that has me looking forward to the next book! LOVED IT!!
Amelia has a lot going on. She is a vampire in love with a werewolf yet her soul is bound to her bestfriend Kendrick, who is hopelessly in love with her. To make matters worse, since Kendrick and Amelia are bound they can speak telepathically and Kendrick can see and feel everything Amelia does. So things get awkward real fast when Amelia is hot and heavy with her werewolf boyfriend Ty. Amelia, Kendrick, and her brother Dorian were all tested on when they were infants by her supposed uncle Caius. They are desperately trying to uncover the truth behind their creation, wanting to know exactly what they really are all while dodging Caius’ viscous attacks. I love where this story is going. An all-out vampire/werewolf war! Don’t miss out on all the juiciness happening.
How can I wrap all my fear, love and dislike in one review? Well first off I just LOVE Amelia and Ty’s relationship. I’m team Ty all the way and I dislike when Kendrick tries butting his way in, but hey, he’s her best friend and I know she cares for him too. I also dislike Caius and I do hope he gets what’s due, even after that major bomb at the end. I swear this whole book was floating me up on cloud nine until the last quarter, then I was like ‘NONONO, WHAT’S GOING ON!’ and then yes, the end. Total cliffhanger, but I’m hooked and I need book three.
There’s a lot to this book and I know sometimes page numbers can be intimidating, but this story does so well with all the action and world/character building. The story moves along swiftly and with many, many surprises. I’ll still be holding out hope for a HEA. (Don’t ya’ll just love the covers?)
Made by Design is the second book in the Blood Bound series. Perfect for those fans of Twilight or paranormal YA romance - plenty of intrigue and thrilling scenes too.
Holly s@%t. Sorry for my French. I seriously thought the first book was awesome, but boy this 2nd book doesn't disappointed one bit. Amelia is one tough ass kicking girl. Love the chemistry between her and Ty, it's pretty awesome. Secrets, lies, truths, half truths and so much more. At time's the suspense is so intense I had to put down this book a few times. I can honestly say that J. L. Myer's did a superb job creating this story. I feel so sorry for Kendrick in all of this, because of the blood bond he shares with Amelia, but it's kinda cool and fascinating too. There is a lot of work waiting for Amelia being the Vampire's Oracle and with what all went down in this book, I'm excited to see what's next. I'm really dumbfounded at this story, it's impossible to guess what will happen next, it's definitely not predictable at all. Don't want to say much more as you really need to buy and read it yourself. *Warning* This book will make you silly cry, scream in frustration, swear and much more.
Just like the first book in the series, What Lies Inside, I got completely wrapped up in its sequel, Made By Design. This book had so many things going on to keep me hooked from start to finish. I didn’t want to put it down.
Book two delves further into the mysteries of Amelia and Dorian’s past, taking the reader on a rollercoaster of twists and turns, all of which had my eyes glued to the page and my jaw dropping a time or two. Then there’s the growing steaminess between Amelia and Ty and the complications that occur because of the blood bond she shares with her best friend Kendrick. Poor Kendrick. The damned are becoming more organized and vicious, but nobody wants to believe it despite the warning given. And the ending, oh my God, the ending had me gasping, denying, yelling, and hoping and hoping and hoping…
I will definitely be reading book 3, Web of Lies to find out what happens next.
**I volunteered to read an advance reader copy of this book** **HONEST REVIEW**
I fell in love with the characters in the first one, and this was just as amazing as the last one!
J. L. Myers do NOT disappoint! I was thrilled to start on this, and I do not regret that I did. I'm actually a small bit speachless. The plot twists and surprises are real in this one! I feel for the characters and I'm kinda in love with Kendrick and I'm not sharing! Lol.
Anyway, to keep this short, this is going on my "favorites" shelf! I will (and I have) already recommended this series to my friend, and I think that she too will fall in live with this well written and well thought out story!
The only thing that would have made it even better, is if I had a copy of the actually book, on display for everybody to see.
There's a good chance that I would have to get my hands on the actually books some day.
Thank you so much to the author for an amazing series! And thank you for the copy!
Design Did Not Make Me (Disclaimer: I was provided a copy of the book. I read it and decided to provide my honest review.) Made by Design, Book 2 of the Blood Bound series by J. L. Myers picks up where What Lies Inside left off. It doesn’t take long as you start to read that you can tell that the storyline’s depth and breadth have grown vibrantly. The world and character building have taken an exponential jump from book 1. The only thing I found off-putting was the constant scowling by Kendrick over Ty’s and Amelia’s relationship. The strengths of the storyline however far outweigh such a minor complaint. The book is a page-turner that consumes everything except to see what is on the next page. Made by Design is action-packed, deceitful, romantic, haunting, intriguing, inquisitive, mysterious, thrilling and tearful. Overall, J.L. Myers wrote a terrific book. My RECOMMENDATION: Buy the book. Read the book. –Tex.
Vampire Amelia Athobry-Lamont is back home with a blood bond to best friend vampire Kendrick. Amelia may have survived Caius's attempt on her life but Caius has more tricks up his sleeve, and this time, he also wants to take the lives of the people she loves most. Amelia decides to fight back by training to fight and learning how to control her newfound power but nothing can prepare her for the chaos and devastion that ensues. This story ends on a cliff hanger.
J.L. Myers delivers an intriguing, action-packed, suspenseful and romantic story full of twists and turns for a book that's a gripping page turner. I can't wait to read Web Of Lies, Book 3 of the Blood Bound Series.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book
I totally love Amelia Lamont, the star in J.L. Myers’ Made By Design (Blood Bound Series Book 2). And I love Ty - her sexy werewolf boyfriend - almost as much (equaled only by how much I hate Caius). If you want a perfect “coming of age” tale, and a perfect vampire paranormal romance, you won’t fid better than this very well written series and story. Read the publisher’s blurb for all you need to know. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
J.L. Myers delivers on the promise made in her first book in this series, and then some! The love triangle between Amelia, Ty and Kendrick intensifies by orders of magnitude, as does the evil perpetrated by her uncle, the vampire Caius.
J.L. Myers' foreshadowing is excellent without revealing what lies ahead. Her mastery of the elements of a good story shines throughout, and the ending of this book is, well, epic. There is no other way to describe it.
I loved this book and can't wait to read the third installment of this series!
I was given a review copy, and this is my honest opinion. This book is not just sad, but heart shattering. Although truthfully, I'm team Kendrick but I also like Ty lol Ahhhh!! This book is action packed. You also get to see more of their powers, and questions from the first book get answered. But you will want to jump right into book 3!! The author has written the scenes brilliantly. It almost feels as if you're in the book and you can see what the characters see, feel what they feel, simply by how well the writing is. I can't wait to get into book 3!!
A great second book. This author has a beautiful writing style. Explosive plot line and believable characters make this book so engaging that you can't stop yourself from laughing or crying with the characters. This book is full of suspense, mystery, drama and romance, and lots of action. It answers some questions left by book one, but leaves you wanting so much more and looking forward to book three. Ms. Myers continues to feed my imagination with an epic vampire story that keeps me at the edge of my seat.
Once again...I definitely did not see that coming!
I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters feel so real to me, and this is definitely an action filled read. Amelia, along with her hybrid boyfriend, best friend and brother... fights for what they believe in.
Lots of blood is spilled, and many secrets are revealed in this book. Readers that are interested in vampires and werewolves in adventures witnessed from a teens perception will enjoy reading this. I strongly recommend you begin this series in order.
Wonderful series! Loved book 1 and book 2 more. Amelia and Ty's story just keeps getting better. Their relationship is complex. Amelia is bonded to Kendrick. So much is going on with there emotions. Ty does not like Amelia's bond with Kendrick and Kendrick is troubled with Amelia's feelings towards Ty. Caius wants back his experiment (Amelia). J.L. Myers wrote an amazing book filled with action, romance, suspense, mystery, and thrill. I recieved a copy of this book and I am voluntarly leaving a honest review.
WOW! Amelia, Dorian, Kendrick, Ty, Troy and Marika still o a roller coaster ride. Vampires and Werewolves oh OMG. This book is still a great read for all ages. This book sparks all kinds of emotions and I will say I cried so hard during parts of it, I also felt like screaming sometimes. This second series is still a longer read then most e-books and well worth the money. Now to see what happens next. I received an arc copy for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this novel. The story extended very well from the first novel. I believe there was even enough pertinent details shared from book 1 that a reader starting with book 2 should understand most of what was going on. There was good relational components as well as a lot of suspense around who was involved with the murders of pure bloods and Lycans. The book ended with a cliffhanger and many other unanswered questions around the main characters. Overall a great read!
I just can't finish this series, I loved the plot and the characters but almost half way through I started getting boried of the progress of the story. I just can't get over the stupid choices the characters are making in a bad situations. Oh well, guess I'm not in the mood for this series after all....Sorry!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Another great book by J.L. Myers. This Blood Bound Series is very very good. This is the second book in the series and they just keep getting better. The stories are well written, full of twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages to see how the story unfolds.
I just fall more and more in love with this series. I have got to quit reading it before bed. I stayed up all night reading this one. As usual the story continues to thicken as Amelia tries to figure out who and what she is. More twist and turns to throw you off and thicken the plot. I wish I had the next one already so that I could have kept going. Edit
Book two in the series and it gets better and better. You cannot stop turning the pages as you need to know what happens next. As I said in the review for the first one this is not my normal read because of the romance aspect. But I have really got into them now. Cannot wait for the next one. I you liked the first one you’ll love this. Highly recommended must read.
Picks up after book one and just keeps going. I loved the interactions with Amelia, Ty and Kendrick. There is so much going on with these guys and their friends. Marcus is keeping tabs on Caius, but can they really trust him? There were a couple of surprises that I totally didn't expect and one that I saw coming. I can't wait to see what happens in book 3.
Overall a really good read. This book makes you feel so many different emotions: happy, sad, wonder, shock. That all adds so much to this book. I am so glad that I ended up stumbling across this series. The characters draw you in and don't let go for even a second.
I made it almost all the way through, then had to stop to cry from nearly an hour! Never have I been affected by a book like this. JL Myers is a literary genius. I absolutely love this series and can not wait to get started on the next book.
Wow this gets better and better. I can’t choose who I like the most. The vampire or the hybrid. Characters are awesome and I cannot wait to see. I would highly recommend this book. I was given this book as an arc for a honest review
