The smooth-talking rancher lassos the hot-headed Scotsman. Like a Wildfire is a long-distance, Grumpy/Sunshine MM romance where crossing oceans leads to taking chances and discovering what the heart truly desires.

Save a horse, ride a Scotsman.

August: What’s better than watching my favorite team on TV? Gettin’ to see them play live in action. My family surprised me with a once-in-a-lifetime trip, so I’m gonna live it up before the snow flies and I’m frozen to the bone with no one in my bed to warm me up. Here I am in London, ready to catch the game and find a man to set my bedsheets aflame. Realizing my tickets were a scam led me to seek out the next best opportunity and boy, did I find it. This pub’s bartender is as temperamental as our bull back home, but it’s not long before the sparks between us burn hotter than a wildfire in August. This cowboy knows just how to rope this bull and tame his rage. I have eight days before I’m gone. Time’s a tickin’. I better get to work.

How did we get here? Americans overrun my pub and it’s driving me mad. In a sea of football jerseys, one man sticks out amongst the crowd; he is the life of the party and wants his way under my kilt. He’s assertive and says he can tame the likes of me? Bring it on cowboy. I’m likely the most stubborn man ye’ve met. Nevertheless, why does my heart skip a beat each time his lips are on mine? All too soon he’s in Wyoming and all we have now are brief texts and missed calls between time zones. Indecision and yearning have me at a crossroads, each path guiding me to one destination—the man at Schuster Ranch.

Like a Wildfire by Layla Lochran is a contemporary MM romance. A cowboy and a Scotsman. SWOON! I fell in love with August and Patrick instantly. Their chemistry oozed, and I enjoyed their fun banter. This is the first book I’ve read by Layla, and I enjoyed her writing. The emotions of the characters were relatable, and she wrote incredible side characters. I’m looking forward to reading more of her work. There are a few dark themes, so definitely check the trigger warnings. I gobbled (sorry, couldn't help myself) it all in one day.

The audiobook is narrated in dual by Joe Arden and Sean Masters. I cannot express how much I enjoyed their performances. This book being dual showcases their ability to flawlessly narrate with multiple accents. I felt everything the characters were feeling, and that is in part due to Layla's wonderful writing and Joe and Sean's outstanding performances. Loved it.

Like a Wildfire is a contemporary MM romance between a Scotsman and a Cowboy. Talk about swoon-worthy! 😍
I absolutely love Layla’s writing and fell in love with Patrick and August pretty instantaneously. Their chemistry flowed naturally and I thoroughly enjoyed their banter. The emotions of these characters are so real and relatable, and she wrote magnificent side characters as well. There are a few darker themes, so definitely check the trigger warnings. I gobbled this story up (sorry, couldn't help myself) and can’t wait to read more from Layla!

This was narrated in dual by Joe Arden and Sean Masters and I can’t even begin to express how much I loved both of their performances. This book being voiced dual style really showcased their ability to narrate these characters impeccably and transition between the multiple accents flawlessly. At times, I would forget that it was dual narration because they both did an outstanding job voicing each other’s characters. I felt everything the characters were feeling, and that is in part due to Layla's wonderful writing and Joe and Sean's exceptional performances. What a duo these two voices are and hope to hear more from them together. Loved it every second of this!

August & Patrick meet whilst August is on a holiday in London his family sent him on for his birthday. He took over the family Ranch in Wyoming 10 months ago after his father died in a farming accident and his family are adamant he get a break. Patrick runs the pub August ends up at and sparks fly. They spend a whirlwind 8 days together before August has to return home, but neither of them wants or is willing to let the other go.

I went into this blind because the audiobook was available to me with my Everand subscription, and for me, this story fell flat. I didn't feel the connection between August & Patrick. The story felt trauma dumpy at times in an attempt to add emotional depth, but it didn't pull that off. Spice was used instead of truly building an emotional bond between these two, and wtf was that cliffhanger ending with Wade? Nowhere in the blurb did it state this story would end on a cliffhanger, and I just wanted my HEA damn it.

I think this might have been my first book narrated by Sean Masters, although I'm not 100% on that, but if that's the case I really enjoyed his performance and will be listening to him again. Now Joe... Joe is a fave of mine, that man can voice act... but for me, his Scottish accent wasn't the one. Maybe it's because I have been surrounded by Scots my entire life but it just didn't work for me, the accent kept slipping here and there and not sounding as it should etc but i seem to be in the minority with that opinion so 🤷‍♀️ 🌶🌶

damn that audiobook... Sean and Joe? EPIC. A bit of an insta-love story, I would have loved to see more of the development and growth of their relationship. So not only the lust is felt more. I didn't like the fact that it ended like this. I feel that the story is not that deep, it does not need a continuation and even less that bonus scene... sorry WHAT? I would have easily given it 5 stars because I had a good time and I liked it despite "errors" or plot holes... but the ending, if not for me. If you wanted to do a series okay, but don't start the book as a standalone. Well, I am left with 0 desire to continue.

This audio was spot on and the story is sweet. I love seeing stories with mental health representation. I gave it four stars, but I feel like it’s more of a 3.5. There could have been more detail and effort put into the chapters when the relationship is long distance. I feel like there was a disconnect there with the two characters pining, and dealing with their shit individually; but not doing much more than texting to stay connected with each other. (I get the time difference, but they seemed more desperate to be together than that.)

I did love the family surrounding them. This book had one of the most supportive LGBTQ+ ally cast I think I’ve ever read. I love reading an MM romance where homophobia isn’t an issue throughout the story. August and Patrick have a journey ahead of them, and I hope to see them grow even closer in the future…even with that bonus chapter…

I get so excited when I get to read/listen to books from new to me authors. 𝑳𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑨 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒆 is one of those books and let me tell you what. I was hooked! The prologue captured me and the ending left me wanting another amazing story!

Holy wow! August & Patrick were life! Like from the start, Patrick stole my heart with his sweet but broken little boy self. And the man he turned into?? 🫠 Yes please! Watching him with August...it was a wonderful time! Their chemistry is off the charts!

𝐽𝑜𝑒 𝐴𝑟𝑑𝑒𝑛 & 𝑆𝑒𝑎𝑛 𝑀𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑠 did a phenomenal job with this dual narration. They put their whole selves into these characters and truly brought them to life! I felt more like I was listening to friends tell their story.

𝙻𝚊𝚢𝚕𝚊 𝙻𝚘𝚌𝚑𝚛𝚊𝚗 is going on my favs list. Her story was definitely a wildfire coupled with amazing spice & great LGBTQ+ rep! Can't wait for more from her!

Layla Lochran’s Like A Wildfire is a beautiful mixture of everything you could want in a love story: witty banter, off the charts chemistry, heartfelt connections, and highlands coos.

Patrick and August’s story highlights all that encompasses a fierce love. What I appreciated the most was how realistic Layla made their long distance relationship. It’s refreshing to see a story that shows not only the thrill and incitement, but the doubt and the conflicts. And how they come together despite it all!

The performances by Sean Masters and Joe Arden were spectacular! In dual narration, both actors worked seamlessly to keep the characters’ tone and cadence the same and did so effortlessly!

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook and look forward to more from these lads! (check out the bonus content… IYKYK)

Book: solid 3 star book. Entertaining but has flaws. My biggest issue was the instalove vibe. They were barely together before saying those 3 words. I guess, when you know you know? I wish there was more relationship development instead of lust. There was decent yearning when they were apart. The spice was spectacular as well as some really funny moments. Some mild angst and a lot of childhood trauma. I'd pick this author up again. That cliffhanger though!! Everything was wrapping up so nicely and then BAM we have some drama! I am interested in what happens next!!!

Audio: easy 5 stars! Joe Arden is already a favorite but Joe Arden doing an accent and SEAN MASTERS together was delicious. Sean is a recent favorite and his voice is so amazing.

Averaged together gives this book 4 stars.

Save a horse, ride a Scotsman! 10 stars!!!!

This was my first MM romance, and it DID NOT disappoint! First of all, I am a complete slut for Joe Arden! There isn't one accent that man can't do!!! Sean Masters was amazing as well! The love story between Patrick and August made my heart melt! The way August was able to love Patrick past his pain and make him feel worthy of being loved was so masterfully written! Kudos to you, Layla Lochran, for such a lovely book!

Well this book was a mixture of eye rolling cheesiness and some very heartfelt and wrenching moments. Overall enjoyable and Joe and Sean did a great job on the audio. But definitely wasn't my favourite m/m romance.

Like a Wildfire: Audiobook

I’ve listened to Layla Lochran's books before, and Like a Wildfire is a beautiful addition to her world. This one is a continuation from her Painting Her Fate and Battle Born for You books, with familiar characters making an appearance. But don’t worry—Patrick and August’s story totally stands on its own and, in my opinion, takes her writing up a notch.

The book dives deep into what happens when you meet someone, fall in love, and then have to return to real life, knowing that love was something special. The big question is: do you risk it all and follow your heart, or do you accept the distance and let go? The story follows two men dealing with their past trauma while trying to find a future together. It’s simple but powerful—Layla’s writing makes it feel so much deeper, and when the narrators bring the story to life, it’s honestly a love story that pulls at your heart.

Joe Arden and Sean Masters, two of my favorite narrators, absolutely delivered in this audiobook. With the dual points of view, each narrator handled a chapter and voiced both characters. I really liked how they tried to match each other’s style, so it didn’t feel out of place or jarring. Joe’s depth and range brought so much to the characters, and I was surprised Sean, fairly new to this industry, held his own. Usually, when Joe’s opposite another male narrator, they can get overshadowed, but Sean gave an equally strong performance. And let me just say, between the Scottish accents and the cowboy vibes—total swoon! They nailed every emotional moment, and the steamy scenes? They were on fire. But some of my favorite parts of the book were when both narrators brought the humor—and boy, did they deliver. I was cackling during some parts!

Patrick and August felt so real, like people you genuinely want to root for. Layla has a way of making her characters relatable and flawed, so you understand their struggles and want the best for them. I’m usually not into M/M romance, but these two had me rethinking that stance.
The story itself was great from start to finish. Layla’s writing, combined with the narrators’ performances, made it one of those audiobooks you just can’t put down. It’s emotional but balanced with just enough humor to keep things light. I found myself laughing at some of the banter, which made the characters even more lovable. Life's too short not to laugh a little, right?

The production was top-notch, as I’ve come to expect from Blue Nose Audio. You can tell they put a lot of care into matching the author’s vision, which makes all the difference.

All in all, this audiobook is an easy 5 stars for me. Even if M/M romance isn’t your usual go-to, Like a Wildfire is definitely worth a listen. The love story is what stays with you—Patrick and August’s connection feels real, and the way Layla writes heart and humor into the story makes it unforgettable. And of course, Joe and Sean? Absolute perfection. Would I listen to it again? Absolutely. If Layla keeps writing stories like this and these two narrate, count me in every time.

Incredible Story & Narration🎧 Gripping & Emotional!

Like a Wildfire
By: Layla Lochran
Narrated by: Sean Masters, Joe Arden

This is a wonderfully heartfelt romance novel, and I loved every about it, from Layla Lochran’s wonderful writing style to the fabulous characters and storylines she created to the perfectly cast narrators who bring it all to life from the pages. This book drew me right in, grabbing my attention and holding it hostage the entire time. I adored the two lead characters, August and Patrick, there were some great secondary characters too. August’s family gifted him with a surprise trip to England, and that gift included a ticket to an American football game in London. Unfortunately, the ticket was counterfeit and he could not get in, but a stadium employee recommended a pub to go watch the game and it turned out to be the best thing that happened to him because he met the man who not only captured his eye, but his heart too. Patrick and his mother escaped an abusive home, but it left him damaged and scarred, both inside and out. He has a good friend who he runs the bar with and another who talks him down and out of his own head when he has panic attacks. It was his good friend who plays matchmaker after she sees the two eyeing each other and she pushed Patrick towards him. The chemistry between the two is smoking hot, but August only has a few days left of his vacation and wants Patrick to spend it with him. It was great watching these two and thought they were perfect together and for each other. I loved all the layers of the story, the complexity of the characters and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. Layla Lochran, thank you for this amazing story, the emotional rollercoaster ride and an ending that leaves you wanting more or rather needing more, needing to know what happens next on Schuster Ranch with these fabulous characters.

🎧📚🎧   And for the incredible narration, Sean Masters and Joe Arden deliver an outstanding performance, bring these characters to life, humanizing them, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable in every role. Joe Arden nailed it as Patrick, accent and all, grasping all aspects of his personality, and Sean Masters did the same for August, playing the swoon worthy cowboy perfectly. Both were equally amazing at performing the roles of the secondary characters, female voices included. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two are entertaining storytellers and their performance elevates this already fantastic story to another level. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

Ooooh the heat...the spice...insane chemistry....oodles of Buffy bods I'm so in LOVE with this Scottish pub owner and Good 'Ol American Cowboy romance, I dreamt about them at nights too. My first by Layla and I can safely say, it won't be the last.
Thankful to Blue Nose Audio for helping me find talented new-to-me authors and LL is one of them.
Audio Book narrated by Joe Arden & Sean Masters is outstanding. Joe is a KING among narrators, Sean matches him on tone and accents perfectly.
The story is not all lust, there's tons of feelings making your heart flutter. August goes to London to watch a football match. His ticket turns out to be bogus so in a pub he goes to catch it on big screen. The part owner, Patrick is Grumpy workaholic. But eyes lick, smirks shine and the instant chemistry sizzle between them
His partner urges him to go live a little, so he tramps around Scotland playing tour guide by day and romp partner by night. By the end of the trip, they're both in deep.
When August goes back, the yearning heart of Patrick calls to connect again. He ends up in USA to be with August and gets immersed in hearty family life on His ranch
All seems heading into the HEA sunset, But wait...Layla puts a twist in the epilogue that left my mouth hanging open!!
WTF girl, gimme book two NOW!!
I loved the characters as my own, could feel their intense connection, wanted them to have their together ending. Reader investment is a testament to good writing and I was ALL IN baby!!!
Waiting eagerly on book 2 now!!

For the most part I really enjoyed Like A Wildfire . August and Patrick have great chemistry and the banter is *chef's kiss* This is a low angst (when it comes to the relationship), medium heat about two men finding their love on the other side of the world.

There are a few things, however that I personally didn't like:

Like a Wildfire is a grumpy/sunshine MM romance that exists in the greater universe of Layla Lochran’s amazing Tell All Secrets series and centers on the romance between London pub owner, Patrick (Lily’s best friend from Painting Her Fate) and August, a Wyoming rancher vacationing in London. Brought together by fate (and counterfeit football tickets), sparks fly between the two men when August winds up in Patrick’s pub to watch the big game. Their sexual chemistry is absolute fire, and their banter game is definitely on point. It’s amazing to witness what was supposed to be no more than a fling quickly grow into love, and then to watch how these men navigate a new relationship when they’re separated by an ocean and conflicting time zones. It forces them to reconsider what they really want out of life and what they’re willing to do to get it. I absolutely adored this story and these characters, both of which were layered, real, and compelling. I can’t wait to see where this story goes, because that you’ll-never-see-it-coming ending completely knocked me for a loop. And I was completely on board with that!

The incredible narration was provided by Joe Arden and Sean Masters, who both delivered absolutely phenomenal performances! I swear, I would buy this audiobook for the accents alone. Joe Arden’s sexy Scottish brogue and Sean Master’s swoony cowboy vibe are not to be missed! Beyond the accents, however, are incredibly nuanced performances from both men that are brimming with raw emotion, humor, and passion. An endearing and captivating story coupled with outstanding narration makes this a truly remarkable listening experience! This is definitely one you don’t want to miss!

This title is available NOW on the Blue Nose Audio app or can be preordered on Audible for a November 12th release.

This is a new author to me, and I am so glad that I took a chance with this audiobook. From the opening scenes, you are pulled in and enthralled as the plot unfolds. The characters are endearing, and the storyline warms the heart as listeners meet Patrick and August along with a slew of secondary character that round out this wonderful story. Patrick is a somewhat surly Scot who owns a pub in London, given his upbringing his personality is understandable. August, by contrast, has a supportive family who sent him to London to see his favorite sports team but unfortunately his ticket was counterfeit. The loss of attending the live event leads him to the best experience of his life when he is told to go to Patrick’s pub to watch the match. I love the way the relationship between the men grows and the way they balance each other. Narrators Joe Arden and Sean Masters are simply sublime. Mr. Arden’s brogue is perfect. One can get lost in it for hours and not want to leave. Mr. Masters cowboy will have anyone wanting to spend time down on the ranch. These two effortlessly bring to life these complex characters showcasing their nuances and vulnerabilities. Overall, this is one emotional roller coaster of emotions that leaves one in a bit of a tizzy waiting to see where this relationship will go especially with that ending. If you enjoy MM, grumpy/sunshine, or cowboy romance audiobooks, then this is one to immediately add to your listening shelf.

Layla Lochran was a new to me author, I'd heard of her but never read one of her books before this one. I will definitely plan to read more in the future.

This was a great story. A mix of heavy and light, emotional and breezy, tears and laughter. I really enjoyed it.

We have an American rancher/cowboy whose family sends his overworked, super stressed butt on a dream vacation and he ends up crossing paths with a workaholic Scottish pub owner. Both men have emotional backstories and scars that they carry with them in their day to day lives, but the joy they find together in a vacation fling is heartwarming. The resulting distance relationship after the the American heads home is both beautiful and painful at the same time.

The audiobook was performed in dual narration style by Sean Masters and Joe Arden. Since Joe's character Patrick is Scottish we get some great accent work out of both of these performers as they bring Patrick's dialogue to life. Sean was a new to me narrator, but the smoothness and warmth in his base tone for August makes me want to listen to more. It's a mark of a good story and performance if an audiobook can break my facade and make me react (laughing, crying, talking back to the book etc.). This one had a moment that was so genuine and unexpected that I cracked up laughing on my crowded morning commute (where my mask is most firmly in place). You will know it when you get there, but I will say, it stuck with me for so long, it was so well crafted (story and performance).

I requested and was provided with an advanced copy of the audiobook. These are my honest opinions.

Like A Wildfire is the prequel in The Schuster Ranch series. This book is everything. It is a hot MM romance. August is a third generation rancher. He works himself into the ground plus some. For his thirtieth birthday his mom and brothers planned a trip to the United Kingdom. His brother bought him a ticket to see his favorite NHL team play in London. The only problem, his ticket was a fake. August found a pub that was hosting a watch event. Patrick and his best friend run a Pub. They were hosting a huge event. They were having a watch party to raise money for their local LGBT+ charity. When August walked into Patrick’s pub, Patrick couldn’t take his eyes off August. They instantly were attracted to each other. Like August, Patrick was a very hard worker. The past few years Patrick has not taken anytime to enjoy life. Lili, Patrick’s best friend and business partner played matchmaker for these two men. The week that August was traveling the UK they spent every moment together. Neither one thought they would fall in love so fast. They were going to try long distance dating. The bonus scene from book one was jaw dropping!! I need the next book involving these two men!!

Joe Arden and Sean Masters did a phenomenal job narrating this book! Their voices complemented each character.

Audiobook Review

ALC provided by Blue Nose Audio

All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When I eyeballed this story, felt all the emotions. When I learned Sean Masters was going to play August and Joe Arden was going to be the broody Scotsman Patrick I couldn’t wait to listen. This MM romance is packed with connection, sexual tension and an emotional journey for both characters. And the journey I went on as a listener felt like I was the one falling in love.

This story is told in dual narration, and Sean and Joe are seamless in their portrayals of August and Patrick. I loved hearing both actors take on these characters, not only showcasing their respective range but also their synchronicity as performers. They each stand out in their lead role. Sean has such a rich, captivating and charming swagger in his American rancher. Joe’s vulnerability shows through as a grumpy yet emotionally charged Scot. The lone wolf energy, but MORE for August, my gosh. I melted.

The story itself is beautifully written by Layla Lochran. In the author’s note, she proudly writes that this book is about kindness and acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community, never hate. Only love. This feeling of two gay men being accepted and normalized by their families and communities was such a beautiful part of the story. Patrick and August both share their own experiences within the story to build some history; Patrick as a young gay man growing up in an abusive household and August as a bisexual man living life on a Wyoming ranch.

The premise of the story plays out so beautifully; a meet cute in a pub in London. August is across the pond to see his favorite NFL team, but a discrepancy in his ticket for the game brings him to Tally’s pub, where a closed off Scotsman runs the place with a closed off heart (except for his close circle of people that is). The chemistry is felt through Joe and Sean’s performances — even though this is performed dual narration the energy is palpable.

The men have insta-attraction and I love the fine details that Layla weaves into the story to build a visual picture of both Patrick and August. There were many times I had to remind myself I was in a fictional world because their interactions felt so natural. The way Sean and Joe make the attraction and chemistry come alive with tenderness, hunger and mutual respect is swoon-worthy. I loved how they spent some time together on Patrick’s family’s farm and forged a deep bond together.

The emotion in this story is delivered with care and intentionality. Joe beautifully creates a transport in time when Patrick has a flashback to his 15 year old self that had me at a standstill. The airport scene when August has to leave was so heart-clenching and full of yearning for more time and less distance.

I could say so much more but I will leave you with this: I was truly captivated and moved by this story on page and it magically transformed into this beautiful, REAL place for me through audio. Layla you have written such a powerful testament of love and hope (with a twist coming up in the next book that I did NOT see coming but I am here for!!). Sean and Joe, I firmly believe no other voice actors could’ve accomplished what you did in making these characters feel so real and representative of gay love.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW:

Like a Wildfire is book #4 in the Tell All Secrets series. This is a beautiful MM standalone, but does feature characters from previous books. Don't worry about being lost... the author provides plenty of backstory. There are trigger warnings, so check those out if needed. Patrick is a Scotsman, pub owner, and living in London. He has a VERY tragic past which has left him a loner, a workaholic, and very broody. August is a cowboy from Wyoming with a big ol' family ranch to run and responsibilities galore. There is instant chemistry the moment these two lock eyes with each other. However, their time together is short with their feelings growing stronger each day. I love the author's writing style, the way she gives voice to real issues in relationships, and how she makes you fall in love with the main characters. The flirting, the witty banter, the steamy spice...another great addition to this series.

The narration is fantastic! Joe Arden is Patrick, giving us the emotion and passion all wrapped up in a sexy Scottish accent. Sean Masters (who pleasantly has been all over my earbuds lately) is August. His deep, growly. cowboy voice is mesmerizing. These two were magic together. 5/5 stars!

Like A Wildfire by Layla Lochran (Dual Narration by Sean Masters & Joe Arden)

"Like A Wildfire" by Layla Lochran is an unforgettable MM romance that has officially spoiled me for anything else. It’s grumpy/sunshine at its finest: a Wyoming cowboy meets a Scottish bar owner, and sparks fly! August and Patrick's love story—from their meet-cute in London to their romantic Scottish getaway and beyond—had me absolutely hooked. Layla Lochran weaves a story filled with heartache, angst, and trauma, but balances it beautifully with desire, lust, and love.

This was my first MM audiobook, and honestly, the dual narration by Sean Masters and Joe Arden blew me away. It’s hands down the best narration I've heard. Chapter by chapter, these two incredible voices brought the characters to life, keeping me wanting more. Sean Masters is new to me, but he's immediately shot up to my top two favorite narrators! His performance was phenomenal, and I’ll definitely be looking for more of his work (once I tackle my TBR, of course).

That ending, though! Layla, we need to talk, but I cannot wait for more! If you're looking for a top-tier romance with incredible narration, grab this one on the BNApp today!

This book consumed me like a wildfire! Layla hit all the marks for me in this book. We’ve got banter sharper than a cowboy’s spurs, raw emotion that had me tearing up, and the spice was . hotter than a cattle brand!
Patrick’s emotions are poured out onto the page and I could feel the intensity of his pain, of his rage and of his vulnerability. August’s determination and strong will for his family duties and for Patrick are so meaningful and his playful cocky side had me grinning like a fool. Joe Arden and Sean Master’s were absolute gold together and they captured these characters so perfectly. Seriously, can we get more of this dynamic duo? They are like the peanut butter and jelly of the audiobook world-just perfect together.
And let’s talk about that cliffhanger. My jaw dropped to the floor and I was screaming in anticipation.
This book had great flow and I found it so enjoyable to read and listen to. This audio was done in duet narration and the production was spot on. Hats off to the team that made this listen such a great fun time and a pleasure to listen to.
If you’re a fan of insta-love, cowboys, and Scotsmen, then this MM romance is your next guilty pleasure. So saddle up, and in August’s words, “Save a horse, ride a Scotsman!” You won’t regret it!

The story begins with Wyoming cowboy August visiting London for a football game. In a comical twist of fate, he finds himself in a bar owned by the grumpy Scotsman, Patrick. The attraction between them is instant and intense—definitely not a slow burn--he sparks definitely start burning fast.
Despite August's limited time in Europe, he boldly invites Patrick to join him on the second part of his trip, which also happens to be Patrick's homeland. As their journey unfolds, we witness the bond between these two men grow stronger. Their emotional walls begin to crumble, and they fall hard and fast for each other. However, once August returns to the U.S., the challenges of a long-distance relationship test their newfound love. Layla does a beautiful job telling their story, introducing their families, whom you can't help but fall in love with too.
The audiobook narration by Sean Masters and Joe Arden is exceptional. "Like a Wildfire" is narrated in dual style, showcasing the talent of these two voice actors. Both narrators masterfully capture the accents, from the southern twanged cowboy to the broody Scotsman, adding depth to the characters and making the story even more engaging.
This book is sweet, sexy, and funny, and captured my heart from the prologue. The performances by the narrators only enhance an already beautifully written love story.

This is a delightful MM romance, that has a blend of Scottish charm, cowboys, and football. August with is strong family ties and inability to stop working, gets the trip of a lifetime to watch his favorite football team play abroad. He meets Patrick our grumpy Scottish sunshine in this story at his Pub. You will completely fall in love with the push and pull between August and Patrick. When it's time to go home, will love be enough? The tension of whether love can bridge the distance is such a relatable theme and Layla writes the heart warming and healing in her stories. There are mentions of past trauma so check your trigger warnings before starting this story.

Narrated in dual POV by Sean Masters and Joe Arden. WOW do they set a scene! I am telling you these narrators bring things to the table that cannot be matched. Sean and Joe's performances elevate the story, bringing the personality of these characters out in full force. Truly making this an immersive experience.

Blue Nose Audio really set the standard for skilled narration and production quality that enhance the listening experience.

🎧 narrated by Joe Arden and Sean Masters

MM
One night to more
Scottish bar owner
Wyoming Rancher
Long distance relationship
HEA (for now)

I ate this story up, and can you blame me with these narrators? I loved their love and passion and genuine connection.

I keep raving about Sean, a newer narrator that is everywhere now! He really embodied the fun ,football fan rancher August. He has such a supportive family and meets Patrick at his bar when he goes to London for an NFL game. Joe Arden broke out that accent for Patrick, and dived deep into his past trauma.

Patrick had a rough upbringing. An abusive father and a best friend who suffers in silence for a while. He has grown into such a wonderful person and runs his bar with his best mate Lily, and her husband. Needing a roll in the sheets, August charms the pants right off him and 1 night is never enough.

But he lives in London and August lives in Wyoming. Long distance is hard enough, but adding an different countries. Time zones, and working with an ex👀 there's gonna be a struggle. I loved how they made it work and it is a HEA... then Layla slapped me with a bonus chapter and theres more to come for these 2 😬

**Audio Review**

What a fun, spicy, satisfying MM romance! I loved the progression of August and Patrick's romance, and how they balanced each other out. August is a steady and dependable cowboy with a supportive family; Patrick is a hot-headed and impulsive bartender with a checkered family history. I did appreciate Layla's approach to the LGBTQ+ storyline, and how much the side characters supported them. It was a nice change from having homophobia is part of the story (which I understand is realistic, but is still hard to read). There was neurodivergent representation with Patrick, as he's diagnosed with autism as a child, but I wish that this would have been highlighted a little bit more. I feel as though that's a significant part of one's identity and it was very lightly touched on. I would have personally liked to see a little bit more communication between the two during their time apart, whilst they were navigating a long-distance relationship, but there was still a very satisfying HEA that stemmed from their time away from one another. And the way that Layla set us up for a future book...!

Thank you to Blue Nose Audio and Layla Lochran for the opportunity to review this audiobook!

2.75 ⭐️

The characters were good and the chemistry was there but for such a short read I still felt like it could have been cut in half. There was so much back story and down time that dragged on a bit too long to hold my interest at times. There really needed to be some action either between the characters or in the plot to keep things interesting and engaging.

The short teaser for book two had more drama than the entirety of book one haha. I honestly didn’t think I was going to continue with this series after this book but now I’m intrigued!

Also I do love that this is a series that is a continuation of the same couple/characters. I am growing a little fatigued with interconnected standalones. Spending more time with characters you grow to love over the span of a book is so rewarding! I really look forward to book two.

The voice actors also did a fantastic job! The accent work, acting, emotion 👏👏 Very well done!

Like a Wildfire by Layla Lochran is a MM romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Joe Arden and Sean Masters.

This is the first book of Layla's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I loved the chemistry between August and Patrick. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

The bonus chapter left me begging for more. I can't wait for Layla to announce the release date of Wildfire Whiskey which will be book one in The Schuster Ranch series.

OMG Joe and Sean were absolutely amazing in this book! They brought this book to life for me. I don't think you could have picked better narrators for this project.

I would recommend this book if you're looking for a MM romance, grumpy/sunshine romance, or a cowboy romance.

Enjoyed this MM romance and the supportive LGBTQ+ rep where it’s just a loving relationship. I read the book along with the ALC by Blue Nose Audio with Joe Arden as the Scot, Patrick, and Sean Masters as the Wyoming cowboy, August. Both narrators did an incredible performance bringing emotion to the story. I particularly liked the heartfelt families and found families within the story. One thing the book has that I wish they all had was being written kind of in play style, as in the name of the character is known or an emotion is given at the beginning of the sentence in brackets so the reader is aware ahead of time. Sometimes in conversations it gets confusing on who is talking, or you figure out the expressed emotion three sentences later. So that was much appreciated! I can’t wait for book two.

I received an ALC for this book, produced by Bluenose Audio and performed by Joe Arden and Sean Master.
August, the American cocky cowboy, met Patrick, the grumpy Scotish owner of the bar where he go to watch the football game. What start with spark and chemistry between them, move to a one night together, to a few days in Scotland. When they realized they fell in love, it's time for August to go back home, in Wyoming....But the bond they created worth a try to a long distance relationship. But it won't be easy...
I loved everything in this book and fell in love with both characters. Layla did an amazing job, I love her writing and the LGBTQ positivity.
The narration is perfection! Joe's scotish accent is on point. He's a master with accent and he prove it with Patrick's voice.
Sean Master is a new favorite of mine. His deep voice is what I imagined for August when I read the book the first time.
I'm sure I'll listen again!
