Katsuaki Nakamura (中村克明), pen name Katsu Aki (克・亜樹), is a Japanese manga artist best known for his works The Vision of Escaflowne, Futari Ecchi, and Psychic Academy. Mangaka Mine Yoshizaki is one of Aki's former assistants.
This very enjoyable manga about Ai Shimoi, a reluctant psychic, continues in volume two. In the first part of this volume the students of the Psychic Academy are divided into groups.Whichever group finds a 500 year old holy tree first, wins. No spoilers! In the second part, Ai agrees to help Mew and Sahra at the girl's dorm as they study math.He finds himself torn between Mew and Sahra. Not only that but Ai and company are attacked again by the evil A-class students. And finally, in part three, an extremely strange girl shows up on campus. She asks for Ai's frirndship. And then the suspended leader of the A-class villains returns and challenges Ai to a fight! Again, no spoilers. Fun read!
Volume 2 is much like volume 1; the emphasis is on a love triangle (harem?) with a sprinkling of fan service. So far, the only adventure is dealing with bullies.
This manga isn't as good as the first one, but I think there is definite build up that will make the third one awesome. This one felt a bit less exciting than the last, but I believe that is just because we're being introduced to a few new characters that will be crucial to the story. I bet Katsu Aki was excited to do this one because it seems like he put a lot of work into his characters. I can not wait to see what he does with them. As soon as I have a bit of spare money, I'm buying more of these. They're excellent.
Ooh, we're starting to get more into the meat of the story. I'm really curious about this Ren/Fafa mystery. I have a lot of theories, and I can't wait to see if any of them are correct. The story itself is getting way more interesting, too, which makes me very happy. Though I'm going to keep shipping Ai/Orina for now, cuz it's so damn adorable. Can't wait to read the next volume. Also, I totally ♡ Master Boo. ^_^
Ai learns more about auras and passes his exam. He fights Ren and befriends Fafa. Boo teaches him stuff and advises during fights.
BOTTOM LINE: Nifty side stories with Ren and Fafa.
*Note: there is quite a bit of fandom in this manga. (Really large breasts, "squishing" and touching of those breasts by Ai, many breast shots and girls in undress as well as girl on girl breast groping.)
Loved this volume! The love triangle continues as Ai struggles with his feelings for both Mew and Orin. He also has to deal with his brother always seeking attention, his power doing things he had no idea he could do, then of course deal with your average High School Bully with superpowers. Poor Ai...so many troubles so little time!
