Winning team matches can raise a tennis club's profile on the national scene. Obviously, the better the team's ranking, the better the reputation the club enjoys. As such, tennis club teams regularly engage in their own seasonal "slams" against other clubs, in an effort to claim the mantle of being the best. But do we know who these local tennis heroes are, who are fighting to maintain or raise their club's ranking, as well as their own, year after year?
Of course, one may see them play ferociously during matches, celebrate their victories or accept their defeats together. Nonetheless, these tennis players remain the "ones seen but not known." They are enigmas. However, what if the veil could be lifted and the perplexity cleared up?
