Some nights are just supposed to be an escape—nothing more, nothing less. A chance to breathe, forget the weight of the world, and lose yourself in the moment. I wasn’t looking for love. Hell, I wasn’t even looking for a man. I just needed a break—from the bills, the stress, the never-ending responsibility of being everything for everybody.
Then I met Bank Malone.
A walking nightmare to most. A menace. A killer. A man they whispered about like he was the devil himself. And yet, in my chaos, I found peace in him. The kind of peace that felt safe. Addictive. The kind you know better than to trust. Sometimes, getting swept off your feet by the man you just know is HIM feels like a dream. The good morning texts, late-night FaceTimes, Netflix and chilling, the way he makes you laugh until your stomach hurts. Telling your girls about your so-called Big Dog like he really different. Everything sweet… until it ain't.
Then comes that morning. The nausea. The empty champagne bottles. The missed calls. The texts left on read. But I was still smiling when I sent that message—the one that changed everything.
I'm pregnant…
And when he finally answered?
What you telling me for?
Those five words crushed me.
It was supposed to be temporary. Just a moment. But what happens when a moment turns into something permanent? When the man who made you feel safe becomes the one who makes you question everything?
Now, I have to figure out if I was just another play in his game… or if I was the fool who played herself.
This was terrible, I’m sorry I can’t and will never get with stories where the FMC is pregnant or has kids and is struggling with them but having nothing but raw sex. This was the most hectic convoluted story I’ve ever read. This was poorly written, the situations with Jahad like lacked depth that required to connect and I really didn’t even get why they were included. Miracle has anger issues and if losing the baby ain’t teach her to get a grip IDK, came in feeling bad for her but yeah no she’s not bright. Saleedah a dummy too and Banks a loser. I’m sorry not a single character was sensible.
I am only going to continue this series because I am already invested and I want to know what’s about to happen to these characters but I will not be reading anything else from this Author she is all over place and it just don’t make any sense. Had a good concept but failed to execute because of wording.
I purchased this book because of the reviews We need to start being honest....
This book has less value than the empty Dr. Pepper can I just threw away. The plot was On so many different people that made me want to plunge my head into the sand like an ostrich, it was that annoying! The author has no talent whatsoever and needs to go back to grammar school to learn a thing or two. By far, this is the worst excuse for a book I’ve ever read!
This is my introduction to Yona. I don't remember who told me to pick up the book. I will say there's a clear plot from the beginning and the story is plot driven. Unfortunately, with the introduction of each character, I sometimes get lost in the plot trying to understand how this new character plays a part. The climax leading to the cliffhanger was expected, which isn't a bad thing. Out of all the characters, Bank has the most developed character arc so it is easy to anticipate his reaction. Everyone else is a bit murky, speaking of them as characters. I'm still not quite sure who Miracle is as a character. I know she is a mother and a best friend, but her job kind of threw me off because of our introduction to her. This is the same feeling I have about every other character thus far. It is just book 1, so there's still room to grow.
Whew!!!!! These characters lives is a mess. Each one is dealing with their own personal struggles. Jahad was just a kid with the responsibility of a adult. His mother was damn near sixty still running around like she was in her early twenties. Careless , Irresponsible, and Childish as hell. Jahad had to make a way to survive and his mother pushing him into the streets was a shame. Miracle and Saleedah looked at him like their little brother and tried to encourage him to do better but they have s**t they're dealing with too. Miracle have a ain't s**t man. Yusuf may be a good father to their son but as far as a boyfriend. He isn't worth a damn. He done screwed half the women around their neighborhood and come to find out his so called bestfriend Gia who's also his ex. Is pregnant by him. After constantly telling Miracle he didn't want anymore kid's and she just dealt with a miscarriage from fighting over his scandalous ass. Here he comes donating his sperm to a woman he claim he isn't sexually active with. His momma is messy and disrespectful asf and I see that's where Yusuf get it from. Having to make extra money. Miracle decided to go back to being paid for being arm and eye candy for Conner. However Conner presented her with a proposition she chose to turn down until she witnessed his true colors. Conner threatened Miracle to the point she had no choice. Now she's arranged to marry Yada who showed her the first day of meeting. He's a damn lunatic. Saleedah got her hands full being a single mother of two daughters, going to school, and working. Being put out of a house she grew up in because of two bitter and jealous ass Aunties. Have Saleedah stressing while trying to maintain. Her oldest daughter Ty'Asia is very disrespectful. Saleedah should've been stuck her foot up her little ass. Ty'Asia mouth is too reckless, she lies, and she sneaky as hell. Miracle inviting Saleedah to a event was either a blessing or a curse when Saleedah met Bank and his father Grant. Bank had his own struggles. He just gotten out of prison and had animosity towards his mother and father for numerous reasons. Bank is rude asf, don't care if you are a man, woman, or child. He's also a little psychotic and enjoy the thrill of killing. When Bank met Saleedah. He was brutally honest and told her from the beginning that he don't have any children or a woman and don't won't either. Which should've had her protecting herself when they were intimate. Furthermore Saleedah was originally at the party for his father but Bank knew that lifestyle wasn't for her and he wanted Saleedah for himself. Having a chick from his past pop up that he don't remember. Put even more stress on him when the woman claims she had his five year old child. Saleedah telling him she was pregnant didn't make it any better. It brought out a side of Bank she never witnessed. It also seems like Bank went into a manic state when he snapped on Saleedah.
This book was all over the place. Idek where to start.
Miracle and her closed minded thinking truly annoyed me but sadly, so many women in the hood have that mindset. She should’ve taken that money over the years from Connor and invested it properly. Like come on na, keeping money in a box like people don’t get robbed all the time is just crazy. Then her BD, even I knew Gia was pregnant by him and the excuse was just plain stupid. I think he wants them both for different reasons and that’s why he straddles the fence. I was also hoping the “husband” was something special but hopefully she gets out of that.
Bank annoyed me the most because he’s so immature in a lot of ways. How he handles his mom and views her and all women is childish. He, like most kids, took her trauma and internalized it as his own so now he blames her and his dad for how the dad treated her. Which SHE allows and chooses to stay through. The issue with his brother, both the parents are wrong in that case. He spent majority of his life in jail it seems like. On top of that he did so much shady and corrupt stuff for his dad that that’s his whole personality now and he doesn’t even care to try and shed that exterior to be a good person. Then with the lil boy, why was getting a test not the first thing you did? That’s just dumb. Hoping for some character development from him and if not I hope him and Lee don’t work out cause she deserves better.
Lee… she’s trying and just can’t catch a break. I wonder where the girls dads or dad is at. With her mom and aunts… how do they all supposedly have money but allow her and her kids to live in the hood? Her mom reminds me of those moms who feel men matter more than her kids. We don’t see her interact with the kids much unless she’s yelling at Ty or has an issue with her so hopefully there’s more of that in the next book. I want better for her and hope she can finish school and achieve her dreams. Bank was childish for reacting how he did and leaving that baby with her. I hope she gets a happy ending even if it’s not with him.
This part one was definitely good as hell. Saleedah is a single mother of two who going through normal trials and tribulations with her family and her children. Her friend Miracle gets her into some things, she meets Bank Malone and falls for him quickly. What happens when you are in a predicament you never saw coming? Bank Malone is fresh out of prison and trying to do better than before but with family like his how can he? His mama and daddy see them as their do boy and I feel bad for him and his brother Xavier esp for how they were raised. I love his uncle Preach and uncle Noel seems cool for the most part. Bank doesn’t want kids and he’s made that abundantly clear but what happens when he discovers he has just that. Miracle had been with Yusuf for years and they have a son named Lil Yusuf that she loves with all her heart. Miracle wanted to live a certain lifestyle but at what cost? She has gotten herself into a predicament she now can’t get out of and it’s beyond crazy. Finding out Yusuf has a kid on the way by the person she least expected was but enough. That cliffhanger was wild as hell and I’m just sitting here thinking about what could happen next. You did that boo and it was great from start to finish. If y’all ain’t hip to Yona y’all need to stop playing around and dive into her work ASAP.
I really miss books with storylines that make sense. This ish was all over the place. It was like the author was sitting on her stoop one day and decided to write about the people that live on/in her project/apartment/block and their daily shenanigans.
Why was Jahad or whatever his name is, in this book? He had two chapters but served absolutely no purpose whatsoever. He started talking about some wild ish with his best friend's Mother and all I could say was 'WTF?!' while reading it. There were other random characters throughout this story with the most random situations going on. IDK what that was about, but the worst thing was the climax of the story happening TWO pages before the ending. So yes, there is book 2.
I won't be reading it but I will be reading the reviews of others with the spoilers.
1.5 Stars for that funny ass scene between Miracle and Connor. I LMAO while reading it.
10/10 do recommend if you want to read a crazy wild hood story and don't mind a cliffhanger.
First of all, the title for this book is wild!
Second of all, the black book girlies be getting me to read all sorts of stuff because wtaf did I just read?
He is unstable for real. Like reallllllllllly unstable. I don't know what could be in the next book.
So much was going on. It was a lot!
I rated it 3.5 stars because I really didn't like how she talked to her oldest daughter and parented her. It took me out of the story. I like toxic in my books but not directed at children.
I'm intrigued though so I am definitely going to read the next book.
I think that this book had an interesting premise. An oops baby with a certified maniac. Should be pretty interesting. This book flowed as if the rough draft got published by accident. A lot of inconsistencies, and errors. It seemed very scattered, and the actual writing was a bit juvenile. This isn’t the first book I’ve read by this author and the others were not like this. I was disappointed in this one, but hopefully the next part is written better because I really want to know about Yada and Miracle. 3 stars for effort
This story right here had me not knowing whether I was going or coming. First how you gone tell me you don't want any more kids, but donate your so-called best friend your seeds.
From the beginning I truly was hoping for Saleedah would get with Bank, but I see all the men in this story got some serious issues.
Everyone tossing around children like its funny. Lil Miss TY'Asia needs her butt cut. I can't wait for the next episode.
So all the niggas in this book are psycho 😂😂 I'm rooting for Lee and Bank even though he needs to get it together. Hopefully Major will help with that. Miracle needs a miracle and I'm really hoping her bd don't get got cause of her crazy situation! Cause that man is unstable. Ty'Asia gone fafo. Jah seems to be the only level headed man in this book. Definitely looking to part 2, cause wtf did Bank do??????
Bank will regret that decision because when ever Lee find her another man and then will go on a killing spree but it will be to late because she will find some one else and Ty ran away she need to learn her lesson and talk to her mom instead of running away and I hope miracle kind some one good because she did not deserve that what she went threw can’t wait for part 2 I really enjoyed this book
Ty'Asia need a good ole fashioned azz whopping. I know teens rebel but damn!!! I love Bank but he wrong for the way he just acted and then to do Major the same way his mama just did him is crazy. Lee just can't catch a break. This just gotta get better for Lee and Miracle.❤❤
What in the hell going on? Lee dude done flipped out. Her daughter done ran away. I clearly got lost somewhere or missed a chapter or 5. Cause what in the actual F@ck just happened? You got some splaining to do ma'am. Instead of boots on the ground - you got my jaws on the ground!!!!
Wow this book was so crazy so far. That Banks is one psycho MF. The way he went off on Lee was beyond crazy and that damn Ty I would beat the ever living sh*t out of her for always doing dumb stuff. My girl Miracle is going through it with a crazy a*s suga daddy and almost husband but I would tell Yada ass to get at Connor forreal.
Part 2 me ASAP. See they got my girls Lee and Miracle f’d up. You can’t end it like that lol. I’m glad she got major though. And that Ty her lil butt . Read the book
Chile she done stressed me all the way out. She needed to have been putting hand and feet on Ty’Asia behind. That girl ain’t gonna be satisfied until she learn the hard way. Sef bout to be sicckkk lol. Saleedah is going to give Banks a run for his money just watch!
The synopsis drew me but this book was way more than that. It’s a lot of moving parts. I like Saleedah and I like Miracle. I want to see them win. Yusuf and Neef had them f’d up and Banks is crazy asl.
Why did Banks do a whole 360 on Lee like that? I’m just want to ask him … who hurt you boo? Something tells me that Lee & Ty are in the same predicament, and that’s why Ty ran away. I guess we’ll find out in part 2!
Bank is making me want to jump on his damn neck! I'm sad for Lee, and I'm still out on little man with the sword. He is crazy for sure, but I need part 2 since yesterday.
Lee was living a good life til those lines showed up. I can’t believe Banks is acting like a real BIH and yo leave his child is DIABOLICAL. Ty need s a reality check. Miracle and Bushwick Bill is like night and day. I cant wait for pt.2
I can’t wait for part 2 cause it’s no way homeboy running from his responsibilities saying what you telling me for knowing if you don’t use protection you will get pregnant 😂😂😂 Yona definitely going to bring the heat in part 2
This book is so good. I cannot believe it where is part two I know I saw it somewhere. Thank you for the adventure. I love the characters, but that man is tripping hard
This book really tripped me out the directions it took you in. But Bank is a mess. But I think he’ll get it together it’s just his upbringing that messed his mindset up.
