Hooray for this book! The simple concept and short text along with great, large color photographs make this one a perfect pick for the early childhood audience. In case you have not noticed, trains are a big deal for little kids. This is going to be used and enjoyed many times in baby and toddler storytimes for many years to come!

I wish there were more books like this one being published--focus on a certain topic/area of interest, short, fun text, and lots of big color photos in a picture book format. The babies and toddlers need to see more of these!

All Aboard!: A True Train Story by Susan Kuklin highlights a trip on a steam engine of the historic Durango & Silverton Railroad.
Kuklin's photographs capture details of the steam train journey and experience that train enthusiasts young (and old) will love. My favorite images are the cover, fire blazing, over the trestle, up the mountain, and smoke swirls.

Kuklin's text is perfect for preschoolers who enjoy making train sounds and seeing pictures of old steam trains. Recommended for public library collections.

I particularly enjoyed this as I have always wanted to ride on this line. Those wanting more details should visit the website: www.durangotrain.com I especially enjoyed the history section, under the About Us heading.

My Thomas-addicted four year old absolutely loved reading this book with his daddy. He especially liked the pictures of all the trains and making all of the fun train sounds. The pictures are great and the sparse text does not detract a bit.
