Lying to her mate, Thomas Kendrick, isn’t something she wants to do, but she’s in another vampire’s territory and Thomas would not be pleased. Besides, she’s more than capable of doing the job and she needs to prove it to everyone. Most of all herself.

Charles Morgan is in control of the Kansas City area, making a rich living off his various enterprises. Juliana goes undercover at the strip club Lust and gets sucked into his dark, decadent world. More victims turn up and the Agency is positive they’ve got their man, but Juliana is not so sure. When the Agency refuses to listen, she reluctantly turns to Thomas for help. In the third book in the series Juliana ‘Jules’ Norris (27), a Realm Walker for the Agency, who tracks deadly paranormal quarry using her unique ability to see magical signatures, is going undercover to find who is killing and dumping blood slaves. However, in order to do that she has to lie to her her mate, Thomas Kendrick (nearly a 1000 years ), a master vampire. Overall, I hated how Juliana refuses to trust in her United bond with Thomas, that she keeps fighting their relationship. I understand her wanting to stand on her own feet, but to lie to her mate, the one she is bound to forever, is pathetic and immature. She choose to mate with him, so why is she so hard on wanting to be separated from him?

As for Thomas.... well for a guy who is supposed to be almost a thousand years old, he doesn't act like it. He's supposed to be all powerful, yet not once have I felt his power. I keep comparing him to Raphael and he fall so damn short that he isn't even in the same category. That said, I'm not connecting with Juliana, I can barely feel any chemistry between Thomas and Juliana as Juliana rarely shows affection - sometimes I even wonder if she loves him, and I'm struggling with liking the story. I will read the last one in the series just to get the series over and done.

Other characters:
Nathaniel West, a 150-year-old werewolf with an immunity to silver and Juliana's mentor at the Agency.
Michael Bishop, the only one Thomas trust with his life and, more importantly, Juliana’s. He's also friend. Michael was Thomas’s second, the one that would take over his territory should anything happen to him.
Sara Piper (several 100 years younger than Thomas), Thomas's sister. Her husband, James Piper, Thomas’s brother-in-law, was also an inkmage and the leader of the Gathering. The Gathering was the mage equivalent of the vampire Council, only much larger and more structured. Rachel Juliana Piper, Sara and James's daughter. Sara was killed by Taft in book two.
Jeremiah Grace (looks 30), Juliana’s screener with the Agency and a fire elemental Anna, his wife for seventy years, a Celtic demigoddess of love who retired from the responsibilities after meeting Jeremiah. And their boys, twins, Simon and Seamus, were in their fifties.
Ben Nichols, vampire and Juliana's boss.
Raoul DeSoto, a vampire who was a black mage before turning. When Thomas left seven years ago, he left Raoul as the leader of the local coven. Raoul then tortured, raped and left Juliana for dead. Thomas has him captured and tortured for what he's done to Juliana.
Aeron Rowantree, Juliana's father who was one of the higher gods of the dark fae; god of death.
→ Detective Warren Taft, was the head detective of the case of missing kids. A witch. Was the Theif; killer of the children in book two.
Phipps, the police commissioner,
→ Warden Hamilton Clayton, a mage; a powerful one. Leader of the Wardens.
→ Warden Deke, an ogre.
→ Warden Joshua ‘Rebel’, a djinn.
Charles Morgan, a vampire, and master of the Kansas City area. He has the ability of compulsion, his was stronger than most. He has the ability to literally bend people to his will, particularly if they’d had his blood - his ability didn’t extend to vampires.
Peter Blake, a vampire that may not be Charles Morgan but he wields his own kind of power in these parts (a Kansas City area).
Bobby, a regular at Morgan's strip club Lust. .

As “Blood Slave” was just released today, and me being in the mood to read something of the paranormal nature, I got comfy and started reading. I was only a couple of chapters in when I realized that not only could I not remember everything that took place in the first novel, it might do me good to reacquaint myself with the characters before reading any further. So I read book one, “Realm Walker,” then moved onto book two, “Death’s Daughter.” Hey, it's only natural. After rereading these two novels, I have to say my views about them changed, as did my ratings, for the better. Maybe because it's an easy story to follow, and not so convoluted as some novels of the paranormal genre can be.

“Blood Slave, ” book three in the “Realm Walker” series is a well-written paranormal-romance novel that includes a plethora of characters such as vampires, mage, fae, werewolves, and demons just to name a few. The hero of the story is Thomas, master vampire and mate to our heroine, Juliana, realm walker. I’ve liked Thomas since book one but have to say that by the end of this novel I absolutely loved him. His love, loyalty, dedication and everything else he feels for Juliana is so pure and true. I absolutely love that he’s always upfront about his feelings for her, and not just to show everyone his claim on her, but the way he’s able to show his love for her without actually having to say it. And as master vampire he is of course a sexy vamp. Yes, they have sex but it’s not very detailed (which is unfortunate). Juliana may be strong, smart, and courageous, not to mention knows how to kick ass, but I do appreciate how often her vulnerability comes to surface and her need for Thomas. Her love for him is also very strong, but I do wish she’d give him a little break as she always leaves him in constant worry about her. Like another reader mentioned, I don’t think the need to lie to him about her absence was necessary at all. It just feels like it’s always Thomas who shows how much he loves her, while she at times holds it close to her vest. Telling him she loves him is one thing, but letting him into her life fully would solidify it. What can I say except I’m a hopeless romantic, especially for a couple I’ve come to care for.

The “Realm Walker” series is a quick and light read, each novel that is sure to capture your attention. As it seems this is not the end of the series, I wouldn’t mind if we got to see Juliana rescue Thomas for a change. Also, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Raoul DeSoto, enemy number one. I’m already looking forward to the next installment. Hopefully, I won’t have to wait too long.

Juliana Norris is having another adventure as a Realm Walker agent. This time, while mated to a powerful Vampire, Thomas Kendrick. In this installment, Juliana, is assigned to go undercover to investigate magic activities concerning a necromancer and his zombies. Unfortunately, the territory belonged to her mate’s rival creating a bit of a problem. Her only choice is to lie to her mate before going into her mission putting herself in an even more dangerous predicament.

Feels like forever since I last read anything from this series but I’m glad this book finally came out. I was dying to read more about Thomas and Juliana. They’ve had such a rough past that I was excited to see them together as a couple. It was cute and frustrating how they were both trying to adjust to each other and working on trust or lack there of. Thomas was very sweet.

My itty bitty qualm with Juliana is that she kept the project from Thomas. I suppose, she can’t be blamed given their past and Thomas being an alpha and all. But I feel like there was no need for the lie. Thomas would giver her anything she wants which she will soon learn first hand. Unfortunately, she will learn the hard and painful way. Of course, she still come out on top. I do commend her for being the kick-ass heroine that she is.

All the books in the series are all quick reads, anywhere from 175-195 pages per book. So, don’t be afraid to try it out. Collins does a good job keeping me locked on the story and no doubt will do the same for you specially if you like vampires, fae, magic, necromancers and zombies.

Juliana and Thomas are finally in a good place when Juliana gets called to do some undercover work in an area controlled by another Master Vamp. She only thinks she is ready for this. This story will shake up Juliana’s world. So much fun. I really love these books and hope the author continues this series. I have so many questions.

Blood Slave is the third book in the Realm Walker series and it was awesome!
Book three sees Juliana being sent undercover into the seedy area of Kansas City, the area is notorious because of the vampire who controls the area and that he allows his vampires to feed from and addict humans to them, something that isn’t allowed in Thomas’s area. There has been a zombie problem in Juliana’s patrol area and when they all tie back to Kansas City – she has no choice but to head there to investigate. Juliana has a quandary though….. she needs to be undercover, it’s dangerous and it’s in another vampires territory but…. With her mate Thomas also being a regent for an area, she shouldn’t be going in unannounced or without telling Thomas who can guarantee her safety. So, she decides to keeps Thomas in the dark about her whereabouts and lies to him about where she will be going.
Jules ends up working in a strip club that is owned and managed by Charles Morgan, the vampire regent of the area and after a while, she thinks she has it all worked out….but then has second thoughts that no one will listen too - so she is forced to lie to her employers, confess all to Thomas and hope she can find the right guy this time.
I really love this series and although these books aren’t particularly long – they are jam packed with story, action and romance that makes them a perfect read that you can read in one go. Juliana has always been a likable character and I enjoy the push/pull relationship she has with her mate. He is old fashioned and believes woman need rescuing whereas Juliana is a modern woman who is independent, likes to be given the chance to do things for herself and sometimes Thomas loses sight of that; so there’s always a clash of wills due to that which gave me an understanding into why she chose to withhold the truth from him. I still love their connection and chemistry, they have an easy going feel to them now which is so much sweeter considering their past.
I loved the storyline here, to be honest, if you took the paranormal element out of the plot – it would still be a good read. For all I love Thomas & Juliana together, it was nice to see her head out to investigate without him. With her working in a strip club she draws a lot of attention to herself and she would not have been able to mingle with the men as freely if Thomas was there. There was no shortage of suspects for the women who had became zombies but not much information to be had so Juliana had to put herself right amongst that type of crowd if she needed to blend in but that also left her open to the perils of those creeps. Thomas’s area seemed elite compared to how things were run in Kansas City and you definitely get the sleazy/seedy vibe from the area where it’s all about partying, drugs of choice, sex and blood. The fact that Juliana was in anothers’ territory really added an element of danger and when you add to that the fact that Thomas didn’t know…. Every move she made was fraught with it. I appreciated that whilst Juliana’s pov was the most prominent that we still also got Thomas’s too showing us what was going on in his head and area also, it actually endeared him a bit more to me and he seemed to be more forthcoming with how he felt and viewed his mate. As the story came to a close, I did not know who was the culprit or a motive so it was great to get all of the emotions possible from the story and as always, I’m left wanting more. I actually can’t wait to see where it goes next.

Thank you to Kathleen Collins for giving me the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.

Juliana is required to go undercover in a city that is outside of Thomas' territory. She decides to leave without telling him where she is going, but that may lead to a horrible mistake before long. She must do what she can to find out who is murdering these women and stop it before she's the next victim.

This book was really good. I felt bad for Thomas though, but other than that I really thought it was good. It was interesting to see the different vampires, and I really enjoyed Juliana and Thomas together. There is only one thing about this series that doesn't seem to be mentioned or if it was I missed it. But, it doesn't say anything about who or when Thomas feeds. So, that was a bit odd, but other than that I really thought it was good, and it was a nice ending.

I like the series except that Julianna takes undue risk to herself and l place herself in constant danger.

Will we find out her back ground, where she was 12 years before Thomas found her.

Why does the author end the books so abruptly?

Juliana Norris is still reeling from the loss of her sister-in-law during Juliana’s investigation into The Thief. Juliana blames herself, citing that she should have seen some kind of sign as to who the killer was. Although, no one else (except maybe for her niece Rachel) blames Juliana.

When zombies start showing up in the Dead Zone—an area of land where no life is permitted—of course this draws the attention of the Agency. When said zombies then turn out to be women from missing persons cases and all the bodies feature a myriad of bite marks, all eyes are drawn to Kansas City and the Territory of vampire Charles Morgan. Morgan, not a favorite within the Council, runs his territory with an iron fist, and any kind of depravity is allowed within its boundaries. Blood Slaves, those that get a high from the vampire’s bite, are all too common.

When Juliana gets sent undercover to find the murderer, it’s probably with a little too much gusto that she hooks into the case. She wants to prove to everyone (e.g. herself) that she’s still capable of doing the job and getting it done without anyone getting killed.

Kathleen Collins presents Juliana’s sense of loss and her own personal failure loud and clear throughout the whole story. Even without openly acknowledging why Juliana becomes so wrapped up in this case, her motivations her very apparent. She’s still grieving. Unfortunately it’s also Juliana’s determination to prove herself that causes her to take unnecessary risks: like lying to Thomas about where she’s going.

I have always liked Thomas Kendrick, but with Blood Slave that like turns into love. His devotion to Juliana is so clear. Even though he would rather she not run head first into danger, he still holds himself back from keeping her under lock and key. He knows that she’s capable of taking care of herself and of doing her job successfully. I like a man who knows to let his partner be herself. Juliana would never be happy sitting on the sidelines, and he respects that, albeit somewhat begrudgingly.

However misguided Juliana’s attempts at keeping her latest assignment from Thomas are, it’s very apparent that she cares for him just as much as he cares for her. At the end of Death’s Daughter we finally saw Juliana make a definitive decision regarding her and Thomas’s relationship. Not necessarily letting go of the past, because it will always be there, but deciding that her feelings for Thomas were stronger. I really felt like Juliana’s case and the mystery in Blood Slave did more to showcase who they can be as a couple. Moving past their rocky start at the beginning of the series, I like that they’ve formed a really solid relationship foundation. Even with the times they fight, I’d never be worried that they would choose to leave the other again. By having the characters become undoubtedly committed to each other early, Collins allows readers to see them grow throughout the remainder of the series, something I look forward to.

With the addition of Blood Slave, Realm Walker continues to be a really solid gem of a series. More please!

Juliana Norris is back and part of an undercover operation that takes her into the heartland of a different vampire master. Women keep showing up in the Dead Zone dead, drained of their blood, and covered in bite marks - some have even become zombies. In order to find out who is responsible, Juliana must attempt to fit into the debauchery that is the red light district, even if it means she ends up working directly for none other than Charles Morgan.

As per usual - ask Juliana and she'll tell you the same thing - nothing goes as planned. Aggressive vampires come out of the darkness, Juliana's undercover op gets compromised, and she ends up in a situation that that just might get her killed - for good this time. It's a good thing her mate is a very powerful vampire and her kinfolk can be summoned on a whim.

The Realm Walker Series is a gritty urban fantasy collection that keeps the reader intrigued from the get go. The plot and storylines are engaging and keep the readers coming back for more. There are several returning characters and some that are brand new in Book 3. Each secondary character plays out their role perfectly. Good or bad, these characters were written well.

The relationship between Thomas and Juliana is enjoyable. She's his mate and has finally fully accepted her feelings for him and his for her. She's stubborn and I don't really see that changing much. Thomas loves her and dotes on her to the best of his ability while still trying to give Juliana the space and independence she requires. The lovey-dovey situations are sweet and romantic.

I absolutely love this series. The author's writing draws in the reader with excellent character development, world building, and dialogue. The undercover assignment keeps Juliana and her team busy which translates to a lot of action between the pages. There is never a dull moment. You'll be on the edge of your seat until you read the very last sentence. With each additional book, the series just gets better and better (and it's been great from the very beginning).

Please note that this book does contain some low-key adult scenes.

Review:
So far, Blood Slave has been the best book in the series, by far. Everything about it made me want to know what was coming next. I didn't just know how it was going to go because I had seen it a million times before, only a couple hundred thousand. It was different than the rest of the series and I loved it.

Juliana has to go undercover to find out who is killing women and dumping their bodies in land that zombifies corpses after a government research experiment went wrong. And Juliana is doing it in the enemy's den. Juliana knows Thomas is going to hate the idea of her going into enemy territory with almost no backup, so she hides what she is doing from him.

Which is about the only part of this entire book that I disliked. I hate when couples hide things from each other simply because they don't want to deal with the fallout. Especially when the other party is generally pretty easy going. Thomas just wants to keep Juliana safe and happy. He hates her job, but he understands and wants to make certain she will survive it. Yet she hides it from him.

This also means that Juliana and Thomas spend most of the book apart. Not the entire time, but it felt like an eternity, because truly the best part of this series is the relationship those two characters have with each other. It is a good thing that this series has always had perspective switches between the two characters, because I think I would have gone spare during their separation without it.

The end to Blood Slave was really good, as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the fallout from the events at the end of Blood Slave. I'm looking forward to seeing how things change, or how they don't. I first read this series in 2014, and this book when it came out, yet I had to wait until this year for the fourth and final book. It has been a long time coming and I'm so glad to be able to read it now.

Although I love this series, I have to say I couldn't read them back to back due to the heroine's need to always be the saviour. It actually started to get on my nerves with how ridiculous she was becoming in her god complex to fix everything.

She needs to tone it down and become more believable or make her smarter because she should have connected the dots to this case way sooner - she is either good at her job (not really seen in this book) or not to support her ability to save the day - in this book the scales were not balanced enough to be believable for me.

This is an outstanding urban fantasy and I was grabbed from the very first word of the first book. Julianna is a character that I have come to love and I so enjoy experiencing the ups and downs of her life alongside her. She constantly grows, both in herself and with her relationships, most notably that of her mate Thomas - oh boy what a man (sorry vampire) is he. It is completely refreshing to see a relationship in an urban fantasy this steadfast, don't get me wrong they have their problems, but they are so utterly readable I wish there were many more books about them. I hope over the years that this will be the case.

Julianna goes undercover, without Thomas, and in fact not entirely truthful with him about it either, which is what makes part of this story. The world she finds in a city other than her own is vastly different and more than a little shocking. Her struggle to maintain professionalism and get the job done versus what she would do in her heart is a core theme of the book, in many ways. The whole story had me captivated and the ending had me more than a little in shock. I eagerly await the next book to see where Julianna and Thomas will be taken, along with the fantastic supporting cast, each and every one of them worthy of their own page time. Kathleen Collins is a master story teller.

>Book Review – Blood Slave –

>This novel is the third in the Realm Walker Series. I did not read the first two books in the series, but it was easy to dive right into this story and not feel lost.

>Enter the world where vampires, werewolves and mages exist, amongst other fantasy beings. Juliana is a type of magic divining rod. She works for a type of otherworldly FBI. Her job is dangerous and her mate wants to protect her. Her mate is a vampire, Thomas, who is the head over a huge chunk of Midwest US territory. Their romance is cute. He tries to protect her, but she continues to put herself in danger.

>Juliana has to go into another Vamp's territory to solve a murder spree. The plot is typical, but the fantasy element makes it both creepy and funny. They come across a zombie dog and the werewolf adopts it. Such a funny little twist. The other weird creatures are really scary. Putting all this in an evil Vegas-like setting really sets up the unease.

>The book is appropriate for an adult audience. There are no descriptive sex scenes, but enough is implied. The fantasy gore is in place 100%.

Series Review posted on my blog Live Laugh & Love Books

Reading the Realm Walker series was incredible from the beginning to the end. I loved everything about it and as soon as I was done with one I moved right on to the next! Kathleen Collins has created a great world full of amazing characters.

The story was well written and rarely got boring. It had a great flow too, not to fast but not too slow. Juliana and Thomas are A-FREAKING-MAZING!!!! I LOVE them, her with her badassness and him with his sexiness! I was transfixed with their story and all that they have to go through! I truly felt right there with them and my emotions were crazy!

So yeah..... I loved every second of reading this series and I look forward to reading more from Kathleen!

I won’t be doing a review on every book, because I am not going to go into detail on anything, so it would just be repetitive. I hope that this is enough to grab your attention and that it leads to you checking out this series because I really think that you won’t regret it!

2 Sentence Plot Synopsis:

After a small horde of zombies appear Juliana has to go undercover in a town that thrives off of money made on drugs, sex, and blood.

It’s already a dangerous mission, but it gets worse because it also requires her to leave her mate’s territory and live in the shadow of a truly monstrous vampire.

It was during the course of this book that I realize I had somehow come to like Juliana’s vampire lover, Thomas. And because of how this story plays out, I wanted him to be around more.

Some of the situations Juliana was getting herself into made my skin crawl.

The only negative thing I have to say about this book is that I wish the hunt for the villain introduced in the first book was given a little more power in this last one. Because his subplot threads through all the way from the beginning and the trauma he caused Juliana deserved more attention.

On the non-vengenful hand, how this subplot was treated did allow for more of the Michael Bishop story to shine through, which I rather enjoyed.

I don’t mind reading a book that pushes my buttons sometimes.

Juliana is at it again in BLOOD SLAVE. Bodies are showing up in the Dead Zone and they are rising again as Zombies along with a Zombie Pomeranian. They trace the bodies to a town in the Mid West, Kansas City. Now Juliana and Nathaniel are going undercover in Kansas City to see who is involved in these deaths. She will have to do it without telling Thomas, because it is in a rival Vampires town. He would want to follow the rules in dealing with another Vampire Boss, but when things go wrong she has to tell Thomas so she can nab the killer. This will put her in a situation in which might end up turning her into a blood slave. This is such a great series and cannot wait for more.I recommend this book to everyone, and I give BLOOD SLAVE 5/5 STARS.

An exciting storyline keeps your interest the whole way through. I had fun reading and the Pomeranian zombie is a funny touch. The characters personalities are believable and easy to get into. Thomas is quite the understanding guy I tell you what. I don't think many people would take it so easy on their mate for putting up shields while leaving town like Juliana did. The ending ties up nice without leaving you hanging. I was given this story for an honest review and this is mine.

Let's give it 3.5. I liked it, especially since the situation Juliana found herself in was legitimately more dangerous. That being said, I wanted more danger. We've never really seen her get into an old fashioned brawl, and while it's constantly reiterated that she can take care of herself, it's never really seen. I also feel like there were a lot of loose ends that weren't tied up, but this is a new series for me so I don't know if the author will come back to them or not.

So, here we are in the next of the series for Thomas and Juliana. Juliana is sent undercover and she just isn't very honest with Thomas about it. I so thought we were past that!
When she finally lets him in, it just may be too late....
Juliana continues to be the SUPER STRONG alpha female and Thomas is 100% alpha male.... what collisions they create!

Poor Juliana

At first I was aggravated with Juliana because she really believed she was undercover. She always gives Thomas a hard time, yet he anyways seems to be loving and understanding. I love her father. It was sad to "see" Juliana victimized again. I did enjoy the book and an looking forward to the next one.

I saw this book randomly on my Twitter feed and decided to give it a shot. Collins does a good job with her characters and the world in which they inhabit. There are plenty of vampires, mages, zombies and all kinds of other supernatural beings, so if you are into those types of characters you'll enjoy this book. It was well written and I breezed through it pretty quickly. Give it a read.

I love this series and was so happy when a new book came out. While it wasn't as action-packed as the previous two books in the series--mostly because Juliana is working undercover--it was nonetheless very entertaining. I hope there are more books to come!
