Let me start by saying, that I love this family and the kids are too precious in the book, especially Alex. His interactions with Rose are so moving, it was beautiful to read! Even with Chole, I loved the pure innocence of his declaration towards her! Even, how Zach makes himself a crucial part of the wedding, it’s so sweet! Zane is the quietest brother of the Teagers due to his stutter, but he is also the sweetest gentleman who’s just waiting to sweep you off your feet! I loved Zane and Vienna, like I just want to give them a hug and cuddle. They both show so much vulnerability in the book that it will make you cry.
“I think life comes in moments. Some happy, some sad, some scary, and some where everything stills before you. And right now, that’s exactly how I feel.”
This is exactly what this book is filled with. ‘Pause’ moments, that force you to sit back and really look at your life.
Zane and Vienna are two very different people. Vienna is an open, happy and outspoken personality whereas Zane is quiet and reserved, always on his guard. He is not used to expressing his thoughts as much. (Although whenever he does say something, it’s so beautiful, and meaningful)
It’s a story with two people who like each other, are intrigued by each other, maybe even love each other but are plagued with doubts. Their love story is a marriage of convenience, but it’s a real marriage too.
Their friendship takes a hesitant root when Zane helps Vienna, and starts to blossom and they also go on a date, but when Vienna finds out she is sick, she is terrified of being alone (she has no family) and of no one being by her side. “Your presence is the only thing that’s keeping me sane. You’re the only hope that’s telling me that I won’t be lying in the hospital alone. That you’ll cry for me if I die.”
Zane knows what loneliness and being alone feels like despite having his brothers. He offers to marry her so that she can get the help she needs and he can just be with her, because he likes her.
“I don’t tell her that I’m unhappy when she’s unhappy. It’s like I borrow some of her pain and feel it as my own. When she smiles, her shining lavender eyes make my pulse skyrocket like no one ever has, and I want her to be happy. Always.”
Zane is the perfect gentleman, allowing Vienna to set the pace, supporting her unconditionally and the moments with their dogs is just *happy sigh*. He tries to make Vienna’s every wish true. There are no extreme grand gestures, it’s the little things he does that make him perfect and their relationship so sweet.
“Sh-she’s like a s-spark, a sunsh-shine. She smiles with her heart, and I want her t-to know I’m her-re for her. She’ll alw-ways have my care, my s-support, and my love.” The tension, stress, doubts and feelings are expressed so well, you will feel the anxiety along with the couple at every turn. True love will find you, but it takes a bit of twists and turns and tears, some happy and some sad. It’s a story of selfless love, as friends, then spouses and then gradually of a couple dating and falling in love.
“The reality of your wedding is that you’re two people falling for each other after getting married.”
