Gas station coffee is the highlight of Lily Slone’s boring outing until fate intervenes… Along with the barrel of a gun and a lost soldier who saves her life.
Jasper Hutson—a homeless Marine, discarded by his family after returning home from the war wounded—reacted on instinct. But this one act brings him to Lily's attention, and not because he saves her life. She sees something else in him. Something no one else sees.
Refusing to give up on him when everyone else does, Lily offers Jasper a place to stay and an opportunity to get back on his feet. That one offer will change her world. When they grow closer and Jasper makes Lily’s life so much easier, she’s not sure she can go back to living without him.
As life moves forward and they get into their own rhythm, Lily discover something about Jasper that he’s kept hidden. Will she continue to reach for her happily ever after or will they both remain wounded?
Erin is a born Chicagoan who decided to state hop a bit, given she works from home. She currently resides in Georgia with her pup, Lord Vader Flynn. With an eclectic and addictive personality, there isn’t much that doesn’t interest her or she won’t pour herself into if it catches her fancy. She has always been interested in the darker aspects of life and mythologies—especially vampires, shifters, the occult, and anything paranormal.
To date, she has published more paranormal books than she can keep up with the characters for, in different genres with dedicated readers who await each release to her numerous series under any of the three Flynn names she writes.
Got to 50% through & could not finish. The book was stupid & boring. The h was whiny, annoying, & a chain smoker - erhhh. She seemed to have something nasty & cynical to say about everybody & everything. The H was just to perfect - so wasn't believable. H, former marine, supposedly has severe PTSD & had been homeless for a while - it was just beyond reasonable that after a shower and a feed other that night terrors [that H recovers from way too fast] H is practically perfect in everyway while unreasonably sounding like a girl way too often. Example: ...leaning over and hugging me. “That’s awesome, Lily! We should go for ice cream tonight.” Dispite being in the marines for years & longterm homeless he can fix anything, is a computer wizz and takes over all author related website work including knowing what a "seo" is - while being incredibly hansome after a shower & shave. The rating is mostly from disappointment as blurb made book sound so good.
A simple story with an HEA, it reads sort of like a novella, a lot of missing details and background. I was wanting to read more from this author, while it was a good story, it didn't quite match some of the other author's works, mostly because of the lack of details that some of the other series by this author are chock full of. It is an independent story, so you don't need to read the 3 in this series in order.
I read every book of Erin. Love almost all of them ( All of them apart from the bakery series for some reason) but this dream series as well as the witch series are so great! I do love Seraphina, enchantress , the academy ect but why this series ha e so little good reviews? They are great books and so identifiable it's crazy. Try it !
This was a good short story. Nice place. Not too cringe. Just right. Only the ending was a bit short and fast. Seriously a great read if you're looking for something short and sweet. And best part... no melodramatic fake break up scene that makes you roll your eyes and snack your teeth lol...
Erin always draws me in and this time it was no different. Kindness with boundaries was perfectly portrayed and I loved the consideration, lack of judgement, and communication portrayed. Not a lot of action or spicy times but enough to liven up the story in just the right amount. The story flow was perfect and as a standalone the ending did not feel rushed.
OMG 😲 this book was a fantastic story, fast read and so sweet. They were perfectly fit together and a very great HEA !!! I enjoyed the banter between the two of them!! I definitely recommend this book in this series...
Loved that there was no real drama in this book. Nice, light hearted, non rh / wc book, which i don't usually go for - almost exclusively read wc / rh these days and glad I didn't realize this wasn't one or I probably wouldn't have read it.
Thoroughly recommend this author. All her series have strong characters & detailed plots. Genuinely cant put them down until I finish all the available books.
As you may or may not know, I have been a fan of Erin's for a long time now. I follow her on her blog and Facebook. Reading this book was like reading her biography in a way. There is so much of Erin in Lily. I could pick out things that Erin has shared in the past with readers. I found myself carefully reading to see what else I can remember.
The story itself was endearing. Watching Jasper and Lily fall in love one odd job at a time was awsome. Kind of reminded me of a line from a Rosie O'Donnell movie: Slave says "How can I please you ma'am?" Her answer, "Paint my House!"
There is a big twist in this book, that I didn't see coming! I will not say what it is, you will have to read it to find out! A read worth reading! 5 Hearts!
