A great collection for the incredible price of 99 cents! I'm working my way through the titles, many of which have been on my "to read" list for a while now. I bought this collection primarily for A Peek Beyond the Consequences. Tony and Claire are one of my absolute favorite book couples and I'd pay much more for another glimpse into their story.
Here are my thoughts so far for the stories I've read in this collection. I'll update this review as I complete more of them.
'A Peek Beyond The Consequences' - I absolutely love all things Tony and Claire, so I knew I would enjoy this short-story. Things feel unfinished though, and I wonder if there is another full-length book in the future of this series. Unless I missed something pretty major, there is still a female nutso out there sending ominous letters. I am hoping there will be another book to wrap things up...and maybe another child in the future for Tony and Claire. A girl can hope!
'Shattered Ties' - I read this story a while back and thought it was great. It was a story about young love, innocence lost, betrayal and heartache. Good girl, Emma, and bad boy, Jesse, fall head-over-heels in love, but have to fight their friends and family every step of the way to be together. They come from two different worlds and it seems like nobody wants these two to be together, breaking out of their expected social roles. Jesse, especially, is torn between doing what he feels obligated to do or following his heart. He makes a decision that alters the course of their lives drastically. This was a beautiful and compelling story. I would definitely recommend it. (I also read the second book in this series and would recommend it as well.)
'Break Me No More' - This was just a teaser into an upcoming book by Crystal Spears and not a complete story. After reading the introduction to each character and the beginning of the story, I am hooked! I cannot wait to get my hands on this book in it's entirety. Holy hot mess! With two guys, Killian, the cheating long-time boyfriend, and Duncan, his ex-best friend that has been pining for her secretly, dueling it out for her affections, Emery's story is bound to be smokin' hot! I'm rooting for Duncan! Although Killian seems to be a total man-whore, I'm guessing he's beginning to appreciate what he's had and the consequences of his actions for a change. I predict some hardcore groveling in his future and it sounds like it is long overdue. Although Emery's tolerance of Killian's behavior is pretty pathetic, it seems that she's growing a spine and getting feisty. This is bound to be a hilarious and entertaining read if it is half as good as this teaser! Can't wait!
'The Caging' - Also a teaser, this excerpt provides a look at the first week of captivity from the perspective of a girl that has been kidnapped. This story read like a cautionary tale. Teenage girl is lured in by the handsome, blue-eyed, mystery man that she has seen at the mall where she works. After a brief encounter with him one night, she awakens in a strange white room and discovers that she has been taken. So far, the story is just kind of creepy. The guy is obsessed with her and it is apparent that he is mentally disturbed. I'm sure this book will have some twists and turns down the road. It seems eerily reminiscent of Lucy Christopher's 'Stolen: A Letter To My Captor' thus far to me, but who knows where it will lead.
'Damian' - Damian is an over-the-top, stereotypical, man-whore commitment-phobe. He sleeps around A LOT. One day, while taking some random floozy up to his apartment for a quickie, he meets his new neighbor, Alexis. Sparks fly, etc., etc. He finds himself unable to get her out of his mind and, cocky guy that he is, he decides that he is going to have her in his bed.
Alexis has just moved to San Francisco after catching her long-time boyfriend cheating on her. She's taken aback by Damian's good looks, but pegs him right away as the kind of bad boy that she needs to steer clear of. She's not interested in being another notch on his bedpost and he is very upfront about the fact that he isn't interested in anything else.
All in all, it was okay. Not one of my favorites and I probably won't remember the character's names a few days from now, but I've read far worse. I'm mildly curious to see what comes of the mystery text, but probably not enough to read the next book. It was alright, but not my cup of tea.
It was wonderful reading more Tony, Claire and of course Nichol but I was a bit disappointed. I wanted happy times and really could have done without the drama.
Nichol is a force to be reckoned with!!
Still it was great seeing them get on with their lives together and that's what matters. ♥
After falling for Hadley and Ryan in Lost in You, I was excited to get a glimpse at their future in Lost in Us. Let’s just say, it wasn’t at all what I expected. From the start, Heidi completely threw me for a loop. A significant amount of time has passed since the end of Lost in You and Hadley and Ryan are vastly different people. I didn’t expect this novella to be quite the emotional rollercoaster that it was, but it had me gripping the edges of my kindle while I battled with myself over whether I should throw it across the room or just pray for the skills to read faster.
Heidi has developed both characters significantly since we saw them last. She made it clear that Hadley and Ryan were no longer two people completely consumed by young love, but rather time had turned them into adults with dreams and responsibilities that couldn’t always coincide effortlessly. I loved the change in Ryan. The lost seventeen year old is long gone and in his place, Heidi has given us the voice of a man who has finally learned his worth. He stole a little more of my heart in this book. Hadley, on the other hand, is forced to face the challenges of balancing her demanding career and building the personal future she so desperately wants. She undergoes considerable growth over the course of this story, as she navigates life out of the limelight.
As much as I’d love to hate it, the storyline of this novella was captivating. Ryan was a much stronger, sexier personality, while Hadley became more relatable with the appearance of her insecurities, flaws and sometimes-selfish nature. I can appreciate the happily ever after more when a story is honest and the characters imperfect. Lost in Us took the couple I loved and made their story more tangible. It was touching and heartbreaking and satisfying all at once. It took a while for my emotions to level out after reading this one. Heidi had me all over the map as we experienced the ups and downs of adult life with Ryan and Hadley. Lost in Us is a raw, emotional novella that will keep you rooting for these two and remembering why you fell for them in the first place.
Read only one story so far and that was Heidi McLaughlin's novella Lost in Us. I loved it.
I started out in tears with my heart broken about Hadley and Ryan. They had to endure so much in Lost in Love. They had so many obstacles to get through in the first book that it broke my heart the way this one started. I was crying after the first sentence.
I'm so glad that Jessica was nothing like Sam. I must say I didn't like her but I have a personal thing against Jessica's. The ones I've known have been witches so I thought Jessica was going to be a total witch.
I loved the ending and it was nice to see Alex and Cole. I would like to know what's the deal with Dylan.
This was well worth getting. Can't wait to read the other stories. Highly recommend it.
I am not very good at writing review but I try :) Went straight to Lost In Us because I just finished Lost in You the day this came out and at the beginning I was like OH MY GOD Nooooo.....how did this happen!! But life happens and what happened most definitely could. Heidi has away of pulling you in to her books and I really enjoy her writing and love that she gives you just enough drama without being over the top, it all feels real! You want to have a love/hate relationship with her but in the end she rocks it!! Much love for her <3
I have only read two stories from this series. These reviews are based on that. I'm sure the others are great and for 99 cents, totally worth it.
My 5 star review for Before Lucky- I LOVED Zane's story more than Lucky's, sorry Lucky. I love the girl, but the male POV I ALWAYS love more and it always gives me more back information, We got to see more of Zane's crazy humor, his thoughts and what makes him him. I loved reading about his dates, they were very amusing and hilarious. Loved reading how Lucky was through his eyes, made me love him even more. Zane is truly amazing and this was my favorite so far, I really enjoyed Zane's POV and I think everyone else will also. Must read ladies! <3
"I'm talking about that moment when you know that you have made a connection that you can't explain or fathom. That moment when you realize that you can't control your mind. The moment when you realize your brain and your heart can play tricks on you."
My 5 star review for Lost In Us by Heidi McLaughlin-
At first I was like WTF is going on!?! did I miss something!?! but then it all became clear and I was freaking angry lol. Yelling at my Kindle and cursing Heidi lol. Then I realized, this s*** happens. It just happened to me a month ago. It feels real and it's honest. S*** happens. Life happens. People grow apart, people leave and people break your heart and sometime they aren't the people you thought they once were. But they had a second chance. Hadley realized she isn't happy, Ryan is her life and she wants him and more. She wants that life with him. But when she shows up one year later and he has moved on. Is it too late? you will have to read to find out how their story ends. It was short and I loved it! great addition to their story and I loved it. Must read.
This is quite a collection of superb stories. I have read not Damian, Before Lucky, etc. and loved them!
I just finished reading Uncovered by Emily Snow and here is the review I wrote for it:
Emily Snow has given us another gem to read. In UNCOVERED, we have the story of a daughter trying desperately to solve her father's death. It was ruled a heart attack by the coroner but her father was healthy, still young, and full of life. But was it really nature stepping in or was there a nefarious hand at work? There were millions of dollars involved in this inheritance. And why would her father leave her nothing in the will and destitute?
Talk about a who-done-it! It's been 10 years since Gemma's father's death... so what can she possibly find!
This story is also a love story. Chemistry, fate, raw passion, and a man who will not go away all combine to create a steamy romance to enjoy. Oliver and Gemma are adorable together and the banter between them is worth witnessing.
Thank you Emily Snow for another remarkable story!
So far I have only read Skyla Madi's submission The O Intention and I loved it really what's not to love with the witty sexual remarks that come out of Alix's mouth that make Jesse blush. The fact that Jesse is Alix's boss only adds to this book.
This was a short and sweet conclusion to Hadley & Ryan's story. It was a very unexpected where their story was going to go but loved the ending. Perfect!
**My review is based on A Peek Beyond the Consequences by Aleatha Romig only.**
Romig has done such an excellent job with her Consequences series so I was looking forward to this short story about the Rawlings family. But I thought it was just okay. This poor family just can't get away from crazy stalkers. It just felt kind of silly because Romig couldn't give it the time it needs for proper suspense. But it was nice revisiting these characters and Romig took the steam factor up a notch with Tony and Claire's intimate scenes. Also, I hope that hint we received of a possible romance for Phil will eventually turn in to something. Even though I was slightly disappointed, Romig will never lose me as a fan.
I adore anthologies like this. So many amazing authors in one place. I haven't been able to read all these stories yet but what I've read was fantastic. My personal fave? Lost In Us - Heidi McLaughlin's follow up to Lost In You. I fell for Hadley and Ryan and wanted more of them. This continuation of their story was terrific. The first couple of pages made me very angry but that didn't last long. Everybody knows that Hadley and Ryan belong together. I loved watching them reconnect. I read this on a plane heading home from vacation and had tears streaming down my face. But I didn't care. Not even a little bit. Can't wait to read the rest.
As this is an anthology i'm goin to review it as such ! So firstly i have to say its Amazing!! i already have some of the stories and some i haven't read before, so its not only amazing value for 12 books its given me some new authors! I shall most definitely be looking out for more by all the authors i already read and new ones to me like Emily Snow, Skyla Madi, and Crystal Spears.i Each and every book in this anthology is nothing short of a great read! These books are a must read, i thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of them !!! Don't lose out grab it now!!
I couldn't wait for this anthology to be released! There are so many great authors in this boxed set! I've only read Emily Snow, KA Robinson, Aleatha Romig and Ilsa Madden-Mills's books! So of you're huge fans of Ilsa's Briarcrest Academy series and Aleatha Romigs Consequences series you MUST get this now! We get a sneak peak beyond the series and it incredible!!! Can't wait to read more of the great authors!
So far I have only read Aleatha's story in this box set which to be honest is the main reason I bought it. I love the Consequences series so getting more of Tony and Claire was fantastic! This short story gave us more of their future after Revealed and I loved it! It wasn't very long but it gave us more of this fantastic series! Highly recommend reading this story if you love the Consequences series like I do!
After Finishing with Tony & Claire, which of course was amazing I peek at other tittles in the book. Heidi McLaughlin, Lost in Us caught my attention and I had to get right into it.
I ended up Reading two books, both amazing, and I see other books there with lots of promise, so I'll be Reading a few more titles from this book son.
I bought this anthology because it had A Peek Beyond the Consequences in it. I can't get enough of Tony and Claire! Aleatha Romig didn't dissappoint! Loved it!!!
Break Me No More by Crystal Spears was interesting! I absolutely loved how she wrote the novella to introduce the characters. I now know all the back story and am so hooked I need the book NOW!
This review is for Aleatha Romig and the story A Peek Beyond the Consequences only. I can't say enough of how much I loved this series and I was not disappointed with this novella. I hope Ms. Romig will give us another peek into the future of Claire and Tony and complete the story of mystery person.
Breathless Anthology is packed with some great quick reads and well worth the money. Loved Damien by Jessica Wood and Broken and Screwed by Tijan just to name two of them. Would definitely recommend buying.
I solely bought this anthology for Famous by Kahlen Aymes. I love the dynamic between Caden and Brooklyn. I think they have more of a "desperate love," than any other couple she's written. I'm so excited for the full-length version of this book!
The stories were good but I thought it was a collection of short stories...instead you were left hanging. Too many stories to continue by buying the next book.
