woah! she lost her plot line! and forgot how she ended book 2?!

At the end of book 2, after Maddie’s funeral they found out that the serial killer was spotted at the gym and Jenny’s brothers attacked him and he ran off, so Scarlett and guys rushed home then later found out Jenny had been kidnapped on her way to a friend’s house after school because her brothers were late getting there to walk her. Beginning of book 3, she’s kidnapped leaving the gym with her brothers, who are beaten and left unconscious on the sidewalk while a group of masked men take off with her. And apparently, this INTERRUPTS the funeral and they have to rush home because of it. So we go from a single serial killer wanting to tie up lose ends to a whole group of masked men, completely different events from book to book timelines that don’t match. Jenny escapes and her harrowing trek home is on page, but while she’s being treated in the hospital, they talk about going to see if they can find where April is and why she’s not answering her phone…then all the sudden they’re telling Jenny that they found and caught everyone who kidnapped her, found and saved April and caught the mole! Sooo much just got completely skipped over or straight up ignored. It’s almost like 2 different people wrote parts of the book, but they didn’t collaborate at all

Lost Plot

The story changed so many times I lost count. Characters changed and not organically. Whole scenes completely different from previous book. Absolutely no complete story was told in this series. It felt as if what should have been one book was expanded and stretched to become a series of unfortunate plot lines that made absolutely no sense to the reader. Quite literally one chapter to next, in some cases one paragraph to the next. Personality changes to the main character so drastic I thought I might be reading an entirely different story. Love interests that were quite there in book 1, just poor background noise in the next chapter. Honestly I had 3 solid plots that would have made 3 different but equally great books.

I had never given a book such a low score. Honestly, this book needs an editor ASAP, or maybe the author just rereading her prior books and then fixing this one. I am having trouble keeping up, with the story. Apparently the office got remodeled from book 2 to 3 and all the sudden all the office walls are glass. The story is not aligning with the other two books, almost like the author forgot what she had wrote in the prior books and is just making up the story as she goes. Example: the way Jenny got kidnap completely changed from book 2 to book 3. The fact the Cassandra got introduced 3 times to Scarlett in the matter of hours (because Scarlett asked who she was). So many in

Cliffhanger

So how you left off there has to be another book coming!
But I love this series so far but with this book I felt like there was a lot of deja vu. Like there were pages that were so similar it felt like I read them before in the earlier chapters. Im eternally grateful though for all the drastic changes in the book that kept me on my feet and all the love it portrayed and identifying all the different types of relationships. I can’t wait to find out if there’s going to be a fourth book!

What an ending to Scarlett’s story. So much happens. Uncovering and exposing corporate espionage, Jenny’s kidnapping, etc. But some things are glossed over. Like what happened to April, especially after a real emphasis was placed on it. I know there’s a short story but it was really jarring while reading.
Also the fact that Scarlett’s attacker is still out there?! No!
I do like the character growth though ❤️

Hooked

I was sucked in by the first in the series and had to take to the almost end. Interesting people, with their own stories that intertwine with twists and turns. Wasn’t expecting the suspense but couldn’t stop reading. Just enough intimacy, danger and intrigue without being over the top. Perfection.

Good Read

This book concludes Scarlett’s story and ties up most of the loose ends from the previous books. I enjoyed reading the book although the ending felt very sudden. I loved the characters and really enjoyed what this story developed into. I would recommend giving it a read.

Fairly decent ending.

Firstly bad bits. A lot of the text was grey and that tends to be a formatting issue. I always read with a black background and white writing. When it's grey it makes it a little bit trickier. Secondly there were a few errors, bit repetitive and the story jerked a little. Ending was fast, Jenny made it.
