I’m a coffee lovin’, word slinging, clean Historical Romance author whose super power is converting caffeine into novels. I love those odd tidbits of history that are stranger than fiction. That’s what inspires me. Well, that and a good love story.

Sara J. Turnquist gave us a wonderful story of romance, conflict, friendship and compassion. It was good to meet up again with the inhabitants of the Miller Ranch. Cutie has some lessons still to learn and Mariena is just the person to help him. This story is one that disturbs me because it deals with our treatment of the native people but it is one that more need to understand. I loved Cutie’s and Mariena’s story and look forward to the next book.

I really enjoyed A Less Convenient Path. I liked the character development that took place with both main characters. You get to see the real struggle both felt about letting go and allowing God to direct their path. Once they did that, things began to fall into place for these characters.

Cutie is a ranch hand that is struggling to cope with feelings he has about something that happened a long time ago. While he is out on a ride away from the Miller Ranch, he comes across a Native American woman and a child. He learns the woman is Mariena and the boy is her younger brother. Her entire tribe was killed and they are the only two remaining. They were trying to travel to her people but they found themselves in real trouble. Cutie knows he cannot leave them out in the wilderness so he decides to take them back to the ranch. But Cutie is completely unprepared for this responsibility, yet when he looks at Mariena he sees her need and he wants to help. As they make the journey to the ranch, an attraction begins to occur between Cutie and Mariena. But neither is prepared to face that attraction. Cutie has too many demons he is facing and Mariena is an independent young woman.

Back at the ranch, Mariena is not sure what her future holds. She does not know if she and her younger brother will remain at the Miller ranch or if Cutie will help her reach her people. The only thing she knows is she trusts him. When the sheriff announces his determination to take Mariena her brother into custody for being Native American, Cutie comes up with a plan to save them. He decides to marry Mariena. Once married, Cutie and Mariena each have to learn to trust one another. That is the part that just is so endearing. I loved watching Cutie introduce Mariena to his culture and for him to help the community accept her for who she is.

A Less Convenient Path is well written and is a book that holds your interest right up to the end. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest feedback.

This is heartwarming story of two people from different cultures. Cutie, our hero rescues Marieni and her younger brother wandering alone in the wilderness after their entire tribe has been wiped out. Sara has done a wonderful job developing her characters and their roles in the story. It's a well written story of despair, hope, trust and eventually love. I enjoyed it immensely. Thank you so much Sara for sharing this beautiful tale.
